Look at these beautiful flowers!!! Lord certainly knows what I need after a bad evening. I want more blooms!! Not going into that right now.. my lost is not as tragic as sistah Chris. Please don't forget to keep her in your T&P.

Synda, I have been using Sweet & Low for half of my life now, and that's saccharine. All in moderation. Thank you for posting that.. I was warned about Equal years ago. When the restaurants don't carry Sweet & Low, I'd tolerate water. That's good info for me to pass on to my other diabetic friends.

Laura!!!!!!!! HELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO!!!!!!!
You could say it's from osmosis that Sage has your DNA. Give her a few more years, and living with 2 very interesting, intelligent, 'crafty' women, who knows she might be the next Louise Nevelson!

Trisha, I had once flown on a plane from L.A to Hawaii, and midway, one engine caught on fire! It was indeed a terrifying experience, when you can see it yourself. Thank God, the plane landed safely.

Stacey, your voice's exactly what I thought it would sound! Lively, cheery and showed so much intelligence. When one had lived too long in Cajun country, it's hard to get rid of the accent. It kinda snuck up on you.. even with proper British education!! Drove my family crazy when I talked to them.

BJ, you are so lucky to have brugs y'd on you this quick! You'll enjoy Pink Beauty's blooms. You're asking me about brugs that could tolerate full sun.. sorry dear.... I just remembered that my Autumn Treasure thrives in full sun last year!!! And yes, call me anytime not just for the fussin' but for the laughter too!! Lol!!!
Got a Nellie Moser too and all my clematis are in full sun. Stacey's right, cool roots, face in the sun.. that's the trick.

So, Crissy, you got the brug fever too? If you're not careful, brugs can drive you crazy!

Cindy, hope the banquet led you to some potential customers. Have you tried selling on eBay? I remember you saying something about Etsy.

Bonnie I am so so sorry that the verdict wasn't favorable for your friend. Some people want others' company in time of turmoil, but I think your friend was what I used to be. Don't mean to alienate anyone, but for a long time I'd deliberately shun company when I was in any kind of pain. My family thought I had abandoned them at one time, until they found out it was my way of coping with pain by shutting out those that are very dear to me. Thank God, they didn't give up on me.

Cody, keep that throat quenched. Fluids and rest will be your best medicine. AND yes, show the couch to Rob!! Poor Alex.. he must be ultra miserable.

Well I'm heading to bed myself. See you in the morning ladies!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

((((hugs))) Jaye.....sure has been quiet today. Talk to you all tomorrow.

Coushatta, LA

Hey Jaye, alex is not really in that much pain.He has been jumping, running and riding his bike in the house. He is taking it alot better then i thought. He don't even cry with it.I try not to make him to mad and upset him to make him cry.I just go with the flow.

Good night

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Darn, Bonnie... that stinks about the court... sounds fixed to me. I do hope your friend will be alright, though.

Cody... I know the feeling... it's hard to be sick when you have kids to care for... double hard when the kid is sick too... I'll keep you in my prayers.

Yes, LK... actually, I started using that recipe to stop the grasshoppers from eating my cannas... and then I found out it works on everything else too...

Well, Don and Mike came home early... the ballgame was rained out tonight. Since Don has to fly out early in the morn, we gave Mike the choice of waking up at 6am to open his present on his birthday, or open it tonight... guess what he chose?
We gave him a digital camera... a good one. He's always wanting to use mine because it makes better pics to email back home... and now he has one just like mine, only the newer model... he's too excited.

I'm off to bed too... it's been a long day.
Nighty night.

Coushatta, LA

Thanks BJ,that is very sweet of you.
Good night

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Trisha... I can relate to the bad flight stories... I go through it all the time... every time Don leaves for the airport, I don't rest well till I hear that he landed safely... he learned long ago to call me the minute the pilot tells him he can turn on his phone... I'm not a good traveler either... I feel every bump, hear every noise, and watch the stewardess for any unusual gestures... long flights can be grueling... Don just sleeps on the plane.

NOW, I'm really going to bed.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Have a good night BJ.......
sounds like bad weather in your part of the country....my Aunt called, said the rain was so bad she didn't go in to visit my Uncle today....I am not sure that was a bad thing....it is really hard on her spending so much time at the nursing home and trying to keep up a conversation when Rex can't answer....I think it was a relief for her to stay home today.

Yes, the kids have learned the first thing they do is let mom know they are okay....or they won't be okay when they get home....!

I don't have that much trouble flying any more...after having to fly several times a month for business I finally got over flight jitters.....still don't like take offs and landings....but got used to it.
Have a good night everyone!!!

and Happy Birthday Mike!!!!!

Morning Ladies,

Stacey yes the frog in front of the pot. I bought mine at K-mart about 9 years ago. Been outside all this time and the color has not faded at all. I have a book by Jerry Barker and it has all kinds of recipes for getting rid of all kinds of critters and insects. Here is a recipe for grasshoppers:
1 tbsp. Garlic oil
3 drops of dishwashing liquid
1 qt. water
Mix together in a blender, and pour the solution into a hand-held sprayer.

Garlic Oil recipe
1 bulb of garlic minced
1 cup begetable oil
Min the minced garlic and oil pour into glass jar with a tight lid. Put in frig and "steep" the oil for a day or two.

For Aphids:
Lay banana peels on the ground around your plants and aphids will keep their distance. As an added bonus, these skins will break down and enrich the soil with potassium and phosphorus.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Morning Ladies... I do hope you're all staying in and away from any crowds... several school districts are closed today, and will remain closed until May 8th or after... The swine flu is becoming very serious... I am so worried about Don flying today. All I need is just one more thing to worry about.

here's another flu epidemic you should watch out for.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has issued a medical
alert about a highly contagious, potentially dangerous
virusB that is transmitted orally, by hand, and even
electronically. This virus is called Weary Overload
Recreational Killer (WORK).

If you receive WORK from your boss, any of your colleagues
or anyone else via any means whatsoever - DO NOT TOUCH IT.
This virus will wipe out your private life completely. If
you should come into contact with WORK you should
immediately leave the premises.

Take two good friends to the nearest grocery store and
purchase one or both of the antidotes - Work Isolating
Neutralizer Extract (WINE) and Bothersome Employer
Elimination Re-booter (BEER). Take the antidote repeatedly
until WORK has been completely eliminated from your system.

You should immediately forward this medical alert to five
friends. If you do not have five friends, you have already
been infected and WORK is controlling your life.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Happy Birthday Mike!! Enjoy your first birthday in great ole U.S.A!! But we know you will have lots of gifts waiting for you back in Austria. Have fun, fun, fun today!

Good morning ladies!
Thanks for breakfast Phyllis. At least we know you've been busy with what you enjoy and not infected by that dreaded WORK virus. Take a breather sometimes and tell us you're okay. Most importantly, show off your ceramics once you're through painting.

Kelvin's mum was good at ceramics. She gave that up when his brother's brain tumor got worse. Wonder if she'd give her old kiln to us ...

Cindy, thanks for reminding me to make use of the Jerry Baker book! I enjoy reading his tips, just got to apply them more. I do make use of coffee grind, banana peelings.. nutritious food for the plants.

Hi Sis Deborah. Seen just 2 monarchs around here. Guess there's not enough food yet. How's Miss Riley doing? I bet her face lights up when she sees you!

That's what I'm afraid too BJ. More schools will be closed until this is contained. When I go into stores now, I try to keep a 10 ft. distance from anyone. Paranoid? Yes, m'am... especially when my resistance is low..

Ok.. off to work for me.. catch you ladies later. Have a wonderful day!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Bonnie-so sorry about the court thing:( Did you see my little iris though????

CODY-TAKE IBUPROFEN when Chris and I had strep, the dr I had told me (but not his) was to throw away your toothbrush and everyone elses' if they share a space. Otherwise you will get it back and our family will get it from your spit on your brush. She also had me take advil liquid caps and it helped reduce the inflammation so I could at least swallow even if I couldn't bear to eat. Also, like if you all drink out of the same mouthwash bottle-anything you share.....

Cindy-I got mine at Big Lots I think-someplace cheap like that-I paid like $4 for him-I love the little frog babies on his leaf too-so cute!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.
Thanks for the breakfast!

Happy Birthday Mike, hope you have a wonderful day! I know you love your pressie from Don and Bj!

Stacey, that Iris is beautiful, such a nice color and shape! Still reading your story, and I am trying to figure out why you have not been writing all along? Very nice story.

Cody so sorry to hear you both have strep throat, that is not fun for anyone! Hope your both feeling better soon!

Phyllis, how you doing? Sounds like you are staying very busy. Please show us the ceramics your working on. Slow down and smell the roses, or anything else you have in bloom!

BJ, the whole school system is closed? Wow, I bet the kids love it though?

Debroah, do you have any new pictures of Riley? We would love to see her!

Cindy, how you doing today?

Later

LK

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

shucks LK-thanks (blushing)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, LK... several school districts have closed... Fort Worth is the largest so far that has closed all schools... some of the smaller districts around Dallas have closed too... but not Dallas, so far.
Mike's school district hasn't closed ... but, the governer is looking into closing them down state wide for disinfecting... unless they can do it over the weekend.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

My froggie is like the bluish one in the front right corner and is a planter. Actually I said I got it from a vendor at the festival but it really was a "thank you" gift for what I do with the show. Love it to pieces and even more special since I know you ladies have one like him!!!

Synda, love the froggie picture--reminds me of the ones I saw in Costa Rica!! Kewl little things.

I am getting somewhat concerned about this flu thing also. Kim being in contact with all those students daily isn't the best but it is her job. Just doing everything recommended to avoid getting anything.

Well of to the chores for the day.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I don't have any planter ones like that-the ones in front of the windows are actually luminaries

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

They have cases here just a couple hours north of me and have closed schools.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I will take a picture of my froggie soon. I also have a pair of heron he made--Kim actually bought those--it a water fountain but no pond so it is just serving as garden art.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I think the doctor told Cody to take some ibuprofen Stacey. Good tips on the toothbrushes. Kel just got over a cold, and I think from now onwards, any icky infections mean throwing out the toothbrushes.
Stacey's a natural at writing LK.

All states should close down the schools for a couple of days to disinfect. So many strains of viral disease going around, poor doctors got to be on their toes for the latest vaccine.
Maid M., you are right. Those frogs are Costa Rican Red Eye Tree frogs. They're so unique. Bring one home with you!!

Ooops... noisemaker is hungry.. catch me later.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

BJ, did you have to resuscitate Mike after my singing?
That kid is just too sweet to be true!!
Join us for lunch ladies.. it's Schwan's boxed Pad Thai ^_^

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

LOL, surely you jest! I can't tell those from the poison dart frogs and besides, my daughter wouldn't come home with me!!! She is deathly afraid of frogs!! I know, so why is she going to Costa Rica? Studying more about the area and improving her speaking skills out ways the frogs!! Weird child.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hey Ladies,

Keep your fingers crossed. Rick is going to put in an application for work in my hometown. I found the help wanted ad while staying at my mom's. Has benefits and local work.

My frog is not a planter. I think it was made by Precious Moments

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So you may be moving? Is it a long drive?
Crossing all fingers, and toes! Good luck Rick.

LK

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Keeping fingers crossed!!! Good luck!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

No we won't be moving, not right away anyways. But I do have my eye on a piece of property for sale about 2 miles down the road from my mom. It takes about 45 minutes. yes he really needs to go back to work, he is getting on my nerves, lol. He is bored and depressed and I'm getting the brunt of it. That is why I'm spending so much time at my mom's, lol. I will be gone to Carson City Mother's day weekend. My mom is bowling in a tournament. I was suppose too also, but I can't even pick up my bowling ball it hurts too bad.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry ot hear your hands hurt. Is there any surgery you can get to fix it?

LK

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Because I'm on Medi-Cal, UC Davis takes anywheres from 6 months to a year to give you an appointment to see a dr. If I can find an orthapedic doc who will take Medi-Cal then my doc will refer me. I have not had any luck in finding one. :( So i just use alot of aspercream with lavender in it, hot paraffin baths, gloves with copper. Ricj has lots of copper scape wire laying around I'm going to see if I can make myself some rings and a bracelet. My dad made mom and I some years ago, the have wore thin.
