Forgot this dogwood shot.
Garden Photos of '09.... #15
All your spring pics are just wonderful everyone!
They are enjoyable---I'm just sorry you folks are losing JMs---Dahlia? It's not really snowing, is it? Weathermen are calling for frost here tomorrow night---that's bad enough!
Probably the heat. Fertilizer would not help it now anyway. Would help for next year. I rarely fertilize bulbs.
my proud moment today... first sighting of a Rose-breasted grosbeak in my yard
more birdie pics

the blue jays were freaking out all evening don't know if they were protecting a nest or something.. but a flock of them circling around and making a racket
Great shots, Allison! Love the color of the droopy tulip. The cable tie is hilarious!! Don't let Randy ever forget that one. I would cut it off and keep it!
I'll check the bird shots. Love the grosbeak. Don't think I've had one.
gee minnie.... tons of stuff going on today. Hard to keep up.
Bill, you're not going to like to hear this, but this will be the first year in 8 or 9 that my forest pansy's are going to bloom. And they were a decent age when I brought them home. You can believe that I'm excited!!! I don't know what the scenario is for yours, but for the last few years we've had warm spells in feb. followed by a return of normal winter weather and it caused them to try to bloom and then get freaked out by the return of normal winter weather. At least with forest pansy it's colorful the other 6 months out of the year, unlike the others!!!
Great pics Allison.... so much is finally going on for you!! I love the dogwood!
Jo Ann .... it makes me so happy to see that those plants survived your winter and hence are officially "at home" there.
All your pics are great Victor, but I love the bee!
Sue, nice pics too! Your brunnera is so happy and healthy looking. I thought that my Jack Frost was doing good, but it's a wimp compared to yours!
Robin, I'll look for the link tonight and post it when I find it.
Thanks, Shelly.
Allison - love the birds. Cool woodpecker. What seeds do you use in the big feeder?

Sherrie and Allison, I happen to like Johnny Jump Ups myself. Very pretty weeds! Oh, and I like that Viola 'Freckles', too, Shelly. In fact I am growing them from seed this year, and they are coming up very nicely now. I plan to put them in my woodland garden area.
Looks like you got some nice plants at that Native Plant Center, Nancy. I have been wanting to go to Garden in the Woods near Boston sometime, as they have many native woodland plants there.

Nice pictures, everyone! Thom, I especially like the ones of your species tulips. I would like some like that. Very pretty in clumps like that. Never thought of clumping them together. It's a very nice effect.
Shelly, I love your lewisia. I have tried growing them twice here, but they always die on me. Don't know if I want to try for a third time. Oh, and that JM Chishio is gorgeous! Something else to add to my wish list. Yes, Shelly, line the driveway with boulders to keep numbheads from driving over your beds!
Victor, you asked how can anyone name pulmonaria Lungwort. I know, a rhetorical question, but I have some trivia on that. I'm pretty sure it was named that for the fact that the leaves are spotted, perhaps making it looks like the inside of a lung, somewhat. Wort is an old English word meaning plant. Now you know the rest of the story!
Well, I haven't gotten farther than that post, and I have to get to bed and get some sleep so I can be rested for work. I will continue this tomorrow night. I don't know how I'm going to keep up with all these postings in the months to come when I have so much to do in the gardens. I know, I know, it's not necessary to keep up, but somehow I feel like I must. I guess I just hate to miss anything.

Victor the two blends in that feeder are

choice & select blends.... which they don't have the select on the site... it's the smaller bird stuff... something for everyone
the nice thing is the store over here... you can prepay for feed (with a discount) and store it for free there... just pick up when needed... always fresh seed
just thinking how to cut that zip tie off.... and keep it on the plant... it will just shrivel up and fall out ... no?
Allison can you just slide it off? I am SO jealous of your variety of birds. I love your bleeding hearts.
I don't mind the violets or the johnny jump ups(they make me smile, reminds me of Alice in Wonderland)
I'm so mad at the heat shortening the life of my tulips... I was already cutting some dead flower heads off.
Good morning RC
I love the mini pictures in the rain dropletts on the flowers.
Great photos .
oh how pretty RC... love the rain drops
Wow - that blue is gorgeous, Shelly!
Yes, it will shrivel, but I would put it in a ziploc or something.
