Love that blue anemone, Shelly. Name?

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Thanks all!

Jo Ann... Love the baby moons. they're cute.

Patti... Thanks for the info on those tulips. It sounds as if they might do ok in an area that is a little sheltered from wind and rain.

Thanks Victor..... the tag says 'harmony mix'. They looked so much like anemone De Caen that I looked into them a little farther. Both anemone de caen and 'harmony mix' are Anemone Coronia selections. None if the info suggested that harmony mix does not include De Caen or that it is different. So, It's my conclusion that they are one in the same.

I don't have my own garden, but things are growing around me :-P .... EEP!

Here's the tree....

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

And here's the tree's guard bee--he's been there for a week! If you get too close to his tree, he dive bombs you! I'm not good enough with the camera to get a close-up--and he's not particularly cooperative!

Carpenter bee.... they are funny. I have one that hangs around my shed and if you come close he comes down to eye level to check you out.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

This one does too! Talk about eye contact! lol!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

These are blooming too--thought they were a later May-->June variety.

Nice pics Phoebe! A brave soul you are with that bee!

Here's the whole plant...

phoebesviolets - lucky shot with the bee - they are SO fast and I have a ton of blurry photos and only a couple good ones! :)

I apparently only have yellow things to share right now :D marsh marigold in pondless pond (planted directly into rocks w/ no soil)

Wow - Phoebe's bee, followed by evie-beevie. Would you believeee?

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Dunno what you could say to make him happy about you slathering thick, gooey toxic substances on his castle!
Victor!--make sure you leave your brain to science when it's your time--->could change the world! Hee-hee!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

After advising of my plan, I'm hoping to ninja weatherproof that part of the fence in the pitch dark while they're sleeping so it will be dry before they wake up. No one has figured out a way to move them without taking the fence down and even then I've been told the sleeping gas stuff kills quite a few :( I wonder if there is a preventative epi-pen?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Might make things worse.

On the bees, I was talking to the one I was shooting the other day. I was saying, 'Please don't sting me. I don't have my Epi-Pen with me.'

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Well now I'm disappointed Victor. I thought you asked the bee to pose for you. I was thinking of going to the clinic to ask for an epi-pen in advance but they'd probably commit me. My DH refuses to be home when I do it so I'm definitely on my own. I wonder if you can rent one of those cool beekeeper outfits to paint in? Seriously they tolerate me quite close to the nest. I guess cuz I'm always in the garden with them. Just the one panel will be a tad potentially painfully tricky.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

How bout this...a compromise. Throw in some sort of seeds like Morning glory, beans--any fast growing vine for the summer, then in the fall, when it is too cool for the bees, but not cold enough to snow, do that last panel. Of course you would be denied the pleasure of the bee keeper suit.
Victor--didn't know you spoke bumble bee, just promise them you'll plant anything they request if they will spare your life! Should work...

(now i'm losing my mind :-( )

Good idea phoebes!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Cool bee shot. Do carpenter bees sting? Or just dive bomb you. DH gets a reaction, but not as bad as he use to. Now he tries what he calls his "think method" to see if he can slow his heart rate on his own, before I drive him to the hospital. I don't advise this.

I was happy I had not missed this one this year while we were gone. Fritillaria meleagris. Patti

Those are great Patti!

Ok.....I'm not usually one for getting this far off of topic. But, I thought that this was great and had to share. If you like the song 'Amazing Grace', I'm sure that you'll like this. It's performed by 'IL Divo'. I had never heard of them before about 2 weeks ago. lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMVxzEueJ6A

My bee veers off sharply just as he is about to crash into my face. Your Fritillaria are spectacular!

That IL Divo was another Simon Cowell discovery. Most of their songs give me chills(in a good way).

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Good! another discovery? he has others than the "idol" and "talent" shows? Is that how he found these guys?

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

ebay...

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I have songs from IL Divo for christmas... wonderful

Thomaston, CT

Spectacular flowers! Definitely going to order more tulips! Patti, that cherry tree is Stella, so it's edible, but tart. I have no speakers on my computer, so I couldn't hear the song, Shelley, but 'Amazing Grace' is a fav. Here's our old crabapple---the flowers are not as deep as usual--could be the heat spell.

huh..... I"ll have to check that out!

Pretty tree Robin! Too bad that you don't have speakers! I think that you'd really like it as well.
