These tulips were Stowaways inside of a bag of Red Oxfords! They were a pleasant surprise.
Spring Bulbs - What's Bloomin? V
What a beautiful border!

LeawoodGardener, Lovely shot and great and interesting stone work.
I love seeing all the allium shots from all as I am a fan. I planted a few new ones for me this year and they have good spikes up so far. Pleased.
beahive, as always lovely shots.
Tabasco, I was wondering about you. Glad it is just a mechanical problem. I have been too busy planting to take pictures and today it is nasty out, but all the new shrubs that DH and I planted will be happy. Me too, as I am so tired from all the work. Patti
Luvly pics all.
Tammy: I am pretty sure that's where these came from..I am probably going to get more and next year do whole bed in the same combo of thalia and bell song daffs with cool crystal and annelinde tulips, I was very pleased with it..especially with the heucheras:
It was my first year with these bulbs..I had thought that little red tulip would bloom earlier, with the yellow daffs...oops! It will will go somewhere better next year:)
Stormyla: What a pleasant surprise, indeed!!
Lea..your border is so serene!
Sometimes the NOIDs are the nicest artemiss. I really like tulips on the blue/red side. VERY prettiful. And now a smile ^_^ My poor dwarf iris that Damien the Spawn of Satan Tree Rat dug up 4 times late last season. I buried them deep (an iris no no) cuz they had no roots left last fall. Three survived and I have now lifted them and built Damien fortification guarded by a grumpy bird.
Dahlia: Lovely composition there with the squill and chionodoxa. I'm definitely planting more chionodoxa this fall, as well as more Camassia!
I SO want camassia but too dry here. Number one on my list for plantings when I put in the water feature.
WOW Beahive. Lucky you that they bloom at the same time!
That's a wonderful scene, BeaHive. And cool that you were able to get your D. Irises and tulips to bloom at the same time ^_^
artemiss..the Clusiana tulips are fantastic! On the list!
Dahlianut..good luck with your iris fortress & guard bird! Hope it comes back for you!
Thanks Steve. The iris's are going gangbusters this week! To bad it is raining so much. They don't like to get soggy and won't last long if they do.
Two of my resident garden fairies were cheking out these Peach Melba tulips!
Beautiful. I like the yellow (can think of the plant name at this late hour) and red combo!
The allium is called Allium Cowanii - from John Scheepers. It is a very bright & crisp white. Nice! Love your fairy watching over your DL's!!
And a few allium paired with digitalis 'foxy', and some peonies yet to bloom.
I have planted several different (11) Allium varieties over the past three years and I'm not sure which are left growing these days. Wish I could keep them straight. Many look alike to me, although it seems the bloom sequences are variable.
I like to play with the 'color echoes' between the Allium and the various dutch Iris.
SUPREME zonal envy happening here. The allium and foxglove backed by the JM look incredible!
T, the reddish iris goes so beautifully with the jap. maple.
Does your path meander into the woods? Now I'm having forest envy too LOL
tabasco..can I com live at your house? Your property is heavenly!
Thanks, everyone for your sweet comments. Some of you know I like to do bulb and perennial 'combinations'~~and most of those ideas I picked up from our old 'Color Echoes' threads on DG from a year or two ago to which so many DGers contributed.
I am just sorry that my camera was on the blink this spring because I have had some of my best little color vignettes with my early daffs and 'little blue bulbs, etc., since I've started gardening (4 years ago) and it's so helpful to visually record for my DG journal what grew when, etc. (and then sharing on DG is always so fun!). Many of my perennials are now in the third spring time so I am really enjoying seeing them in their 'fullness'. Of course I've had to move so many around to make the visual 'arrangements' work out. We do have lots of woods surrounding us, by the way, but what the photos don't show are the neighbors' homes which are in view from our garden too.
Here is a pic of some iris (supposedly the kind Monet had in his garden, but I think not). Behind them is a pot that I planted a bulb/perennial combination: Coral Bells (with a purplish cast), Purple Prince Tulips (which have already gone to tulip heaven), 3 yellow jonquils, and some johnny jump ups with purple and yellow faces that tied it all together. It bloomed for a month in full glory under the Prunus tree along the front walk. Now it's rather spent, but I wanted to share the idea, any way.
The mailman just brought 6 clematis from Silver Star Vinery that I am hoping will bloom with the late tulips and alliums next year. Must go plant!
Happy gardening. t.
Tabasco, not only the colors but the textures are wonderful!
