Spring Bulbs - What's Bloomin? V

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

You muscari is still looking luvly artemiss. I'm hoping mine are just taking a year off. Some of my bulbs do that and then come back the next year like gang busters.

Have to add my Double Orange Emperor Tulips. Love the color, especially with the early morning sun shining through them.

What a trooper that little crocus is! God bless him. I have a weed that keeps coming back in the crack by my front door. So attractive when guests come!

This tulip was a beautiful fushia pink today.

Raining hard today, so I am catching up on my photos. We went away for 11 days in April, so I missed a lot of blooms including many of my favorite unusual tulips, but lots to come. Here is a link to my slide Spring 2009 show so far. Enjoy. Patti

cindyeo, love that double orange Emperor that you have. Now on my list.

Goldenfish, I too had to goggle your gem. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks jmorth. I wish the rain had held off today as I still have half of the beds to photograph. I did just go out a few minutes ago in the drizzle and found some new things out. So hopefully tomorrow I can snap a few more pictures. I think I will do a weekly show this month. I have already started a list for next year to fill in spots that are drab. Can't have drab!

I have a yellow tulip that I don't think I planted. A bunch are coming up where I thought I had planted Tulipa 'White Cloud' Here is what I got from VAN BOURGONDIEM. Am I surprised? No! But it is not 'White cloud' 25 for 15.50 24" pure white. Maybe I got part of LeawoodGardener's order. I will take a better picture tomorrow. Patti

A hardy red tulip..it came with the house and blooms at the same time as some very similar yellow ones that are all over the neighborhood. It smells simply divine- I am guessing a darwin, perhaps?

artemiss, I love that photo of the Crystal tulip. Sweet. I don't know which red tulip yours is, but it is on this list. Lots of luck. Patti

An allium I planted three years ago has multiplied - it has five bloom stalks this year.

This tulip was in the front of my driveway bed and brought a smile to my face every time I went in and out!

The ony disappointment that I had with bulbs this year was my Hyacinths. In between those bunches of Jan Bos Hyacinths up against the house were supposed to be clusters of Gipsey Queen Hyacinths. They are actually there, at ground level, but never rose. It's like they peeked through, looked at the world, and said "oh no, I'm not going out there" !

This photo amused me.

I love how the tulips open just as the first of the daffs are wilting.

These Fortissimo Daffs actually look at lot better once the tulips rise. Their blossums are so large, they tend to flop without something to hold them up.

This daff came from the garden of a woman who planted them 50 years ago.

My roadside bed attracts a lot of visitors when the tulips pop.

King Alfred is such a beautiful yellow. Tall and strong and an incredible multiplier.

The tulips provide some bright spots in the shade bed while the Heuchera start to color up before the late daffs make their entrance.

BeaHive, I really like you "Daily Bouquet" - and Perestroyka is awesome; I have that. Seems we have some similar tastes in tulips.

Stormyla, great landscape shots - you're done a beautiful job there.

Donna, I love your Mount Hoods; they are beautiful. I almost got those last fall as I've read they're good in the south and think I will order some this fall.

Leawood, KS(Zone 5b)

Stormyla, I love the colors in your beds - they look wonderful!

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Thanks Steve. I love all your Peonies. This is bouquet I picked this morning. These will be used as the centerpieces for my daughters Prom dinner tonight! My contribution to the dinner + green beans!
