Beautiful!

That's a nice blend on the Godoshnik jmorth. I love tulips with a bright edge too.

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

You all have such pretties here!!! Love the pics...And now I have a question?
I just bought a BUNCH of half price, blooming daffies. I know you are supposed to let the foliage die back..and wait until fall to plant. BUT...someone tell me plz...will it really hurt anything to plant them now...when I can actually see where I want them to go? I really don't know?

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Should be fine..just leave the foliage on until it dies back & a little water...

Springfield, IL(Zone 5b)

Gemino: Love that Hawera and Hillstar..I think those are on my list for fall now:) I tried the little beauty for the first time this year, and I must say, I wish I had gotten more..they sure are cute!
jmorth: Love those bright orange and red ones! (Gudoshnik and Banja Luka..)

Wow you guys - what fabulous displays! Neal, love your "Honky Tonk"; what a clump and much more prolific than I'd expect from a species tulip. Beahive, I have a little Double Late dark red tulip just like tghe one you're sporting. And I agree with you on Menton - always wonderful and possibly my favorite overall tulip.

Dahlia, your croci look beautiful in the snow!!

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Yeah I have been growing Menton for atleast 20 years in CA and now here in OR. Great tulip and it will always be a part of my garden.

An unknow. Very soft and pretty.

Steve, this the the 2nd year for those 'Honky Tonk', and I'm seeing good increase from all the clusianas. It always amazes me that such showy blooms come from such tiny bulbs!

I was at Longwood Gardens yesterday and they had a fantastic tulip/bulb display! I
didn't have a camera though. The tulip that really caught my eye was Furore. I googled
it and didn't see pictures that matched. Its yellow on the base of the flower and turns
to firey orange on the top. Anyone have this one?

I am away from our garden for 10 day, so I am so enjoying see all of yours. The bulb season is over in New Orleans, but the agapanthus are up everywhere which is a treat for me.

BeaHive, love your tulip 'New Design' on my list for next year.

I am so happy to see all the masses of the species tulips Gemini_sage is growing so successfully, I want that look.

jmorth I grew some Gudoshnik a few years ago and after seeing yours, I think I will try it again in a different spot that will give it a better chance to come back. I love all its color variations

artemiss, your unicum looks wonderful. We planted it last fall, but I think I will miss it's bloom. It was almost out when we left so I think it will be done when we get back. Hope the dogs enjoy it!

Off to Jazz Fest. Love the show everyone. Patti

Believe it or not, these are supposed to be "Mrs. John Scheepers" - a bright yellow Darwin. Do you suppose they were mis-labeled and the company sent me 1,000 of the wrong bulb?

Thumbnail by LeawoodGardener
Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Leawood.. Kinda looks that way. They are very pretty what ever they are, but I would send a picture to Scheepers & a nice letter. Perhaps they will offer a replacement if yellow is what you really wanted! 1000 bulbs is not to be taken lightly! $$$

Something is amiss!

Actually, I ordered them from Van Borgoundien - I hate to bash them, but from all I can find online, these should be bright yellow. I wrote them a message and sent a photo - we'll see how they respond.

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Mrs John Scheepers is indeed a bright yellow tulip, one of the nicest yellows out there, and those are not Mrs. Scheepers tulips. I would be ticked - 1,000 all wrong?? Well if it is any condolence, I will say the display is still absolutely beautiful. I think this picture would be proof to them they sent the wrong product.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

I bet they give you a credit or send correct next yr, but will they send a helper to do the 1,000. My arms and knees hurt just thinking about it.

Here is the link to their web sight.

They (Van Bourgondien) don't have a very good reputation, either:

The sale sign is the neighbor's, oddly it matches the tulips and muscari... 4/19 again

I've ordered from Van Borgoundien many times in the past and always felt like I got good quality and a fair price (I order from the wholesale catalog, since my order is usually several hundred dollars). I'll give them a chance to explain why these tulips are not what I ordered (yes, I've already checked the order to be sure I didn't somehow order a different bulb, and when they arrived, I remember they were marked "Mrs. John Scheepers" - I think somehow they must have been mis-labeled at the field) and see how they treat a 'regular' customer.

Took this pic at the Oregon Gardens today.

Leawood, I had a similar situation... my white tulips ('Best White' from colorblends) opened a pale yellow, and I was afraid they'd stay that way but they quickly turned white. Your bed is still spectacular, but of course you want what you ordered!

My yard starts where the dandelions stop (lol most of them, anyway!). The neighbors yard in the back of the picture has a similar tulip bed; theirs are a greigii tulip called 'Toronto', growing there for about twenty years now

claypa..your red, white & blue (muscari) bed is great!
