Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today? #97 visit with friends..

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Yep.

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

Hi everyone! no not doing too much betty! lol!

we drove to the cabin this morning, new wood floors buckled a little, so DH was upset about that...we are hoping that as it warms up there...the boards will shrink back some and not buckle as much. Of course I didnt noice the buckle...but DH has to get on hands n knees and feel the floor and finds it lolol! perfectionist that he is lol!

I swept off the deck while DH searched the house to find our wood burning tool...no luck, but we did find a 6' x 8' piece of unused linoleum...still in wrapper...so guess who gets to do one of the vinyl mats like bettys lolol! we brought the linoleum home so I'll get to start on that project soon.

then we went to the gift shop in town, found some cute birthday gifts for a friends birthday... then headed back home. DD called as we were driving, needed a babysitter tonight yippee! so I spent most of he evening playing with DGS and then held him on my lap for 3 hours as he slept :o) just couldnt bring myself to set him down lolol!

DS has a baseball game tomorrow, DD cant go, but she is letting me bring DGS! yippee! so I get to spend tomorrow with him too! lol!

Morning girls, did stay up late last night, guess until 11:30 ..was so engrosed in my project, forgot I was tired..talked with Judy for about 1/2 hr.

She's been one busy lady with the children on Spring Break..Steve had just gotten home and company was on their way..omg..imgine having company come in at 9:30 or so..I'd never make it, be sleeping during their visit for sure...

I so love the photo's, stricking color, please share..

Woke up to the wind howling, well, more than howling was going on..if you look amongst the snowflakes blowing around you might see the big picture frame in my back yard, the lighthouse at the pond and birhouses...wasn't it just last Saturday that I so enjoyed being out all day working in my garden? Will winter ever end...

Opps wrong photo..

But here you were talking about mice and snakes and I'm thinking, not looking forward to that again this year..open my back door and what did I find...

Yuk, now I have to go and put him in the garbage..wish the kitties didn't think I needed to see their catch of the day..

Mary, it's prom day..big day in your household...love the Outback..nice that you had time with your son...

Trisha, you are a busy lady as well..back into the leatherwork are you? saw the wallet you did for Stacey, it's beautiful..mega work went into it..has Sage taken an interest in your art?

Kyle loved coming over all through his childhood doing crafts/woodworking with grandma, but sad to say it's a thing of the past, his piers would laugh at him he says..much to busy as well..should go look for neighborhood girls and have them over for craft night but in this day and age, I could be arrested for enticing young children, amazing what is seen as a no/no now days...

AnnMarie, wouldn't you know he'd spot some of the buckling..bet it was a nice drive though...do you go every weekend now that the nice weather is here?

Lucky you finding linoleum..only thing is if it's too old it crystalizes to some degree and will continue to go back into it's original form, what to do to see if it's worthy of painting is find a sunny spot unroll and see if it flattens itself, you'd not want to put energy into making a masterpiece only to find out it's no good...

Shar, know where you will be today, pulled by that yard magnet...don't overdo...

Sitting here waiting for Home Depot to open..need wood panels for my project..

Outside my door but minutes ago..oh wooo is me!

Busy day yesterday..DD Sheree & DSIL JJ & DGKs were here..We split logs for their fireplace (wood stove)..

Not very good news from Dr Thursday..They test my blood & urine every 3 months..
Last time the protein count was just a little over desired level in my blood..(1.6 is okay)
It wasn't present in urine..Well shucky darn..It was up to 2.1 in blood & present in urine..
Dr is scheduling appointment with transplant Dr at University Hospital in Omaha..
He will decide if I need chemotherapy treatments first or if I can just get another Stemcell transplant..They already have my stemcells..They collected over 6 times what they needed in August 04..That's when I had my first one. My Oncologist Dr said this should be MUCH easier on me this time. It was more advanced first time.(stage 4)

During my cemo treatments before. I had pneumonia, meningitis infection in brain, & liquid in lungs..The liquid con jelled..They had to open me up & scape it out..The worst was the pain in bones. From the cancer eating them up. The pain meds had a total opposite effect. Instead of relaxing me..They made me hyper..And the steroids didn't help..I didn't sleep for 5 days once..Poor Shirley.I hope I don't put her through that again..Hoping to get straight into transplant..All this prolonged cemo treatments..

Lousy timing spring is near..LOL

NO JOKING AROUND "TUBBY", omg both of you must be frantic..know you've good Dr's and they've most likely kept on top of things but my heart goes out to both you and Shirley and your family...it's a long road to recovery, some ups, some downs, this is a 'valley' you are in, before long you'll be ontop of the mountain...sending hugs..pass a few on to Shirley will you...I can speak with what I went through with Roger, everything that comes along can be dealt with providing you are good patients..we love you dearly and it's nothing to walk along with you while you are on this healing voyage..you ask her, she'll agree with me...nothing like getting our man 'well' and I guess must add, joking!

They say a 'laugh' on a daily basis is as good as any med...so that being the case, you will be fine...

Gardening you will be..just think of all those projects you have to do..any butterflies cut yet? am sure Shirley would like to paint a few...

got me my wood, lordy about the only one in Home Depot, staff was talking about how empty it was..one only had to look outside and see weather conditions to know everyone that could get along without shopping would stay home..all except this silly lady...

I'm painting a shelf on each board (just really a division line at this point..going through books, trying to find different ideas than that of the doors I painted at the farm, by the time I find what I need, panels will be dry so I'll be able to sketch the design..

Blowing and snowing, good place to be inside...I've cooked potatoes and mashed them, ready to make a stuffing for the ribs, got bread on, imagine, I must be desperate to be cooking..

Still early day, almost seems as though it should be night time for me, just think what can be accomplished...

Be back on next break...

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Email box was full this morning..LOL

If kisses were water, I'd give you a sea.

If hugs were leaves, I'd give you a tree..
If LIFE was a planet, I'd give you a galaxy.

If friendship is life, I will give you mine.

'Worlds best friends week'

Thanks for being my friends. Good health & love in 2009

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Thank You Betty..I remember how it was for Shirley..I was pretty goofy at times..(more than usual)..LOL It will be better this time.Catching it early will help..Dr says..

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

You and yours have been dadded to my prayers each night. Blessings on you both.

Barb Thank You for dadding me..LOL I just can't stop myself..LOL

Another cool one..I wish it would show the rainbow

The most beautiful rainbow.

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that

wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You

will have your heart broken probably more than once and

it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember

how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your

best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one

did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll

eventually lose someone you love. So take too many

pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been

hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a

minute of happiness you'll never get back. Don't be afraid

that your life will end, be afraid that it will never begin.

Live simply. Love generously.

Care deeply. Speak kindly.

Leave the rest to God

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

And His will be done. Why is it I always seem to make those errors when you are lurking? But then I'm sure you have been Dadding it for a long time and are a pro by now!!! You and Batty.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

You are so cute Barb...

Glad to have you all as friends as well..

Tubby, going to copy both the above and remind a few others in my life what they mean to me..

What's the weather like in your neck of the woods...

Ohhh stormy here...

Think Tom was in severe pain when he left yesterday, Aline just called and asked if I'd mind if he came another day..imagine, they are doing something for me and here they are asking if it meets with my schedule.. told them no hurry....

Have my 3 panels basecoated, might take a hot bath, was expecting company so made sure I was out of my nightly, just the kind of day to get back into the nightie wouldn't you think...

Ann is up this weekend and will drop in either later today or tomorrow, that's ok, she's used to seeing me comfy..my best work is done when I'm comfy...let's see how much I get done ..lol..ooops someone at the door

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

It's been stormy off and on all day here. We are babysitting our two angels from southern NH this weekend. We don't get to see them often enough so it is really a treat for us. They love fooling with Papa. Will sew more when they go home tonight.

Laura and I working on getting a small combined Leather and Craft business going....nothing big, just enough income to fund our crafting and garden habits!! Sage would love to be in the middle of it all....hard explaining that her "quality level" needs to come up to meet her "Quantity Level"

Terry, our hearts and prayers are with you and your family.....and always know we love you and your sense of humor and we are here for you....(((((hugs)))) As Lord Bacon said "No man imparteth his joy to his friend, but he joyeth the more; and no man imparteth his grief to his friend, but her greiveth the less.

Bev, how right you are to say that DG threads are a great support system..many of us would have had an even harder time had we not had each other...not just words, but all really do care! I thank the Lord each and every night for being gifted their friendship..

Trisha so hope your business goes well..guess what was in the goodies Ann brought me, yep a mold..if you are thinking of making the victorian santa's, I'll post it to you, and if any of the girls need the face, you'll be right there in the USA for them to get them...

When last I was on, said someone was here....Greg brough me a bouquet of yellow daffodils, it's cancer month and never a year goes by since his dad passed on from cancer does he not bring me flowers in April...

Visited awhile with him, Kyle is out for the evening, Greg/Mel have a party to go to so Noah might be visiting grandma..it wasn't more than 10 minutes since Greg left, who dropped in but Cathy, what did she bring, a bouquet of yellow daffodils..we sat and chatted and who arrived Ann..OMG carrying a big basquet with bouquet in it..I'm just overwhelmed...

Not only did Ann bring me flowers but quite a few pieces for me to paint and about 60 books..just what I needed right, books..lol..so have gone through them, will categorize them, have a big box to give away...where is Stacey when you need her..lol...

So that's how my day is gone, this afternoon snow changed to rain, no more snow..knew it wouldn't stay..Cathy said Midland had much more than we..they can have it..

Temps are again dropping rapidly, can feel it in the house..so, as I didn't get that bath and into my nightie, I will now..breads is ready, ribs on and I'll sit quietly tracing what I want on the 3 panels...

As you can see, I haven't been lonesome..who knows what the rest of the day will bring....

My friend Ann..said her hubby has to see a surgeon, growth must come off his arm ASAP, Melissa her daughter sees the surgeon Easter Monday, Ann has dropped about 15 lbs. all due to worry...see my pretty basket of flowers to the right of her...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm sure hoping that it will soon be time to be able to put houseplants outside...don't know what to do with them all...

Missy, she enjoyed having a sip of water in the cup that's holding daffodils...lol

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Must go upstairs and bring all the wood trinkets downstairs and put them with the unfinished projects on the shelf...do like the few metal containers she brought..must find something to paint on them..

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Barb, those girls are beautiful, no wonder they are grandpa's angels...hubby's not bad either CONTRARY to Tubby..lol

Cathy is eyeing out the goodies, maybe I can send her home with some..

Her sister is up and I guess at times they don't see eye to eye..she's coming up for 4 days next weekend, I asked Cathy if she'd rather Greg/Mel look after the animals or would she be interested in staying here..yep...don't have to worry about the animals..Stacey, Cathy says hi...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Missy, she had a wonderful day while I visited with friends, she sat and watched the squirrels...now that's entertainment, even we humans stopped to watch them at play..

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

A Santa face mold would be fantastic!!! And yes, shipping form the US would be much less expensive.......and would relieve you of at least one of your many chores!!

Love Daffodills....just picked up a big bouquet at the store yesterday...they are my sign every year that Spring really will come....

Will keep Ann and her family in our prayers....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bev, a harship for sure losing a grandchild..my heart aches for you..do you have a photo you could share????

Barb, see a homemade pillow on that couch..lol..some of your handy work?

Upstairs I go, tidy up incase Noah spend the evening sitting grandma..told Greg I have to rest up for Thursday..he and Melanie will drive the boys to Barrie..Mel has some chocolates and things for Easter Sunday, doubt they will make it, must eat them or they'll melt..lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Trisha and will post the mold...don't think Ann realized just what a treasure she was giving me..lol..(or us)...

Britteny is so beautiful Bev..but then angels are aren't they..hugs going your way..has been a difficult time for you as well in March, am sure you've many memories that keep you comforted..did she like gardening? I must one day take a photo of Roger the week before he went in the hospital, not knowing he was deathly ill, it shows (now that I look) the illness around his eyes, I see that in Britteny's eyes as well..a flower for you as well, not this year, but still lovely just the same...

Shar sure am glad your wisteria wasn't damaged in the storm..it's just so pretty...I purchased two plants last year..will be interested to see if they've survived the winter...

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!
Waving hello to you all, I have missed you.

And what a marvolous day. Bright and sunny, just makes me want to sing!

Been a very long time since I sang.

My prayers go out to all...I have been working lime mad lately, in between the rains.
And i have got to admit...I am so pleased with the results.
As you all know I have been battleing the jungles of my gardens.

Well, I am just smiling away...All your Beautiful blooms coming out to greet you.
I've lots of Dafs, The Iris leaves have been getting taller, ornamental grasses emerging along with some wild flowers and oh my peonies too. it's kind of weird I dont see any Lilly of the valley as of yet. And how exciting i have a couple of tulips, so far the deer only ate one up front! On of these days I am going to move it to a safer spot.
I think I am going to have to move to a drastic measure and put up a fence around my beds, just hate the thought but it seems to be my only solution...I was talking a nice walk through the park and saw they have the beds fenced with the octogon chicken wire. Thought, hmmm didn't really notice the fencing till i was very close, sooo will be working on that!

Liz, it sure made me smile to see your ducks have found their way home...LOL better keep their food and water coming, lolol, knocking on the window, that too funny!

Bev, Your granddaughter is just lovely. I am sorry for your loss.
I was telling Betty last night, Spring as beautiful as it is, is the most toughest on me.
For this is the month of joy and sadness. I lost two of my sisters. Both too were beautiful people, and i mean that in the sence of the heart.
This year, I would like to plant something in their memory and also one for mumma! Sometime I can't beleive the time that has gone by without them...Well, We have beautiful memories and what better angels then our loved ones watching over us.
Sending you hugs and warm thoughts.

Well, anyways...Steve did not pass his test, so I think he will study some more and re-take the exam. He has another month and try again.

it was Spring Break this past week, and Julia took the week off work too. So we have been spending lots of good quality time together as a family. Had a couple of doozies of headaches, but they are now subsided, thank goodness...Got an eye exam this week so probably just need new glasses...What else, Oh Steve took the week off as well...hahaha, that is from leaving the house, but he spent most of his waking hours at the computer doing his paper and that was maily the reason of my not being able to chat with you all.
By the time he was done, I was barely able t read and keep up, as I was exhausted from all my work, ahhh, got to love the fresh air and my muscles are yelling at me! But what can i say I still am madly in love with gardening around.
Oh my gosh, had a serious computer issue, which also kept me just because it was crazy...So finally got on the phone with the technology people and they walked me thought some issues and we fixed the problem! Yay...

I took a bunch of photos for you going to up load them in a minute here.
and Boy am i glad to be sending everyone back to their routine...I love them but geesh they need to go back to school and work, heheh.

Mary, I wanted to tell you, that i do believe you should be able to split the sedum. they are pretty dourable, LOL mine are coming back even just from the root! Which, i thought only from seed but the deer chomped them three times last season and I've got 2 shoots coming up, yippeee! Oh and man the only thing I do not see is my ornamentl Lilly. But i think that came up a bit later last year, and yep it got eaten!

OH MY Shar, how exciting to see my favorite Wisteria tree!! I never ever get tired of looking at her grace! She is stunning.

Betty, my friend came over and we had a splendid visit. She lost her mom almost a year ago, that was the last time i saw her. So we had lots to catch up on...

So I am waving to Ves...Soon you will be telling us of your beautiful gardens too. I am glad you are able to get some plants going inside.

Also, We have not heard from Jeannine in ages, so i do hope all is going well. I do know she has got her hands seriously busy with all those beautiful pups...So if you are reading just know your in my thoughts and I wanted just to say Hi!!

Wonderhug, I hope you are well again. What are you up to?

Carol, Waiving Hello...woohoo...Filled out our passport papers so will get those going, I am seriously hoping to get to Canada this summer, original thought is for July so will be scanning the route either on the way to Betty's so hopefully come by to visit you too!
LOL, believe me the entire DG communtiy will know when that is happening!

Gillibean, were you able to go on the trip with DH?? If so I hope that it was a wonderful time. How is the weather up in Moose Factory? Do you still have tons of snow? Well, wanted to say hi to you too, I hope you and your family is doing well.

Ok, I guess i have wriiten a short novel, lol so what else is new?

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend.

Be back in a bit with pictures!

Glenview, IL

Oh, Barb, beautiful picture of your Honey's.

Tubby, What beautiful flowers and the Friends poems is just Perfect!

Oh yes, Stacey, you must sewing up a storm. Your first quilts are beautiful, you did a great job.
love the colors too.

Ok...Here are some pics of my gardens.

The major cleanup is done, jumping for joy with that!

This is my front section.
I gave all my beds names because it was easier to talk about the area I was working in!
This is Eagles Way.
