im not doing too bad.... my memory is bad so taking my meds is a struggle... then i miss them and get on the downward spiral again sigh,, silly woman.

well off to bed i go...

hugs and stay well...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good morning all..

Mary, you'll be sleeping in for sure with all the excitement of yesterday...

Trisha, know it's hard when families aren't close..regardless, when push comes to shove they are the ones you want near or to hear from..might create some family ties with her if he keeps calling..hoping for recovery for both...

Bev, love your memory garden, I bet rarely a day goes by that you don't sit and visit with her...I lost 2 girls due to kidney problems and often think of them..funny, you don't even know them and yet you do...a longing that never leaves...

Only area I have name is the "Daves Friendship Garden" I have in the back area..got to make more destination/mileage and name directional signs..

Liz, you feeling better? as both of us were at Judy's we know just how much work she's done..got to talk to Steve, thanked him again for the memories re out day together in Chicago..Judy virtually told him he had to get off the phone, he was using her minutes to chat with me..lol

Wonder...sorry to hear the grandaughter is not well, lets hope the meds give her some peace from the pain..OMG you must get back to those meds, no missing a day..get a routine going, find something you do each and every day and put the meds with it...only way Laura you'll stay out of the black hole..come one girl...miss my Laura.....

It's a cold day out there, looks as though the sunshine will at least peak through, NOT a gardening day for sure..am hoping the snow yesterday didn't hurt those fragile plants..if the wind dies down perhaps I can uncover the heap of leaves that Cathy raked and burn them...

In the meantime, make myself pretty, lol and perhaps paint a bit..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just missed you 'Tubby' how are you feeling this morning, ok?
What do you have planned..a project for sure, or just going to spoil Shirley?

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Lights just went out..Windy as ever..Cold here today..And it is ME that gets spoiled..
Just ask Shirley..LOL

Pacifica, CA

morning all,

hey betty, omg she did a wonderful job on the yard! and in the frount she is going to have a beautiful garden! yes been three weeks and i finally feel better! dh was sick to so worried about his liver when he gets sick but he is good too.

now as for fil omg!!! he was being careless two days ago and slipped on the floor and hit the phone jack on the floor as he went down, and the plastic peice imbedded into his back.
( now picture this stubborn italian man with a thick accent) yelling at mil to go in the garage and get a pair of pliers and pull it out! she wouldnt hear of it sent him to emergency, he is fine but that peice went in two inches.

then i hear kennys daughter is comming down at the end of the month oh this should be interesting to see if things get resolved..
but i have been chatting with kennys son in tennessee he is going through a divorce i just feel sorry for the kid oh well what can you do..
kenny already asked me so what? you want me to move him here? i said i never said anything, but by rights he needs to do more for him!

now im going to prepare myself for the ride kenny said im driving to super walmart then to inlaws so i have to get my navigation ready lol and this car th has bluetooth in the steering colum all i have to do is simply push the buttons wow!

got sunny weather, and the first of crops right now are the artichokes i put three plants last year and there doing pretty darn good, just stuck in lemmon cucumbers, muskmelon and cherry tomatoes,
i need to go through the seeds now lol ok i better go hugs to all

oh betty steve is so fun to talk with you should hear him when the lemmon shortage happens lol

Liz, glad to hear you are both on the mend and yes, you'd be worried, took Kenny so long to recover you'd not want another bout of that...

Superwalmart is also in Midland here...one stop shopping it is, however, I still feel I ought to support local grocery store, if I don't one day it might not be there...

So now you have your own navagational system, you'll be in trouble, no stopping you now from getting anywhere..

You just keep your cool when step daughter arrives, be as nice as punch, don't give her any reason to be crying to daddy regardless of what she does..not a nice young lady, will try to get your goat for sure...perhaps Kenny will rethink and let son come stay for awhile...how is YOUR family doing, ok?

Sounds as though your garden is prospering..just did a walk outside, can't believe that since last Sat. since I emptied the pond and did a few gardens and we've had snow, freezing temps that those plants are growing to beat the dickens...

Just think of the mischief we could get into in Judy's yard this year..lol...am hoping they get to visit, know Steve picked up the passport documents...now to have them filled and processed...

Today I should be packing a bag, can't bring much with me as my trunk has to accommodate for 5 bags..

Will call Caleb and Braedon today just to touch base..Greg and Mel will meet me in Barrie Thurs. at 4:30 with the boys...I told Greg we'd call each night, told me he and Mel most likely would be home..might be honeymooning...no kids 5 or 6 days without the kids...lol

Good morning all, What a day!! I really didn't think I was getting OLD but those two little ones sure proved me wrong. There's no way I could keep up with them. Thank heaven for DH and his love of children. They had a wonderful weekend at Grammy and Papa's house and we are just exhausted. They are just so full of life and all it has to offer. I think they want to experience it all at once. Slow down were the words of the weekend. Not that it helped at all. DS and DIL picked them up last night and we collapsed!!!!
Today is DD 33rd birthday so another family day for us. We'll be gone for most of it but I will check in later. Hugs and prayers to all in need. And a chuckle or two off to Tubby. Have a great Sunday...Barb
Edited to add: The pillow is the very first thing I ever quilted. All hand pieced except adding the back to it. It's still one of my favorite pieces. Thanks Betty

Barb as Shirley says there is a reason you have kids when you are young..LOL
I always say I wish I had half their energy..

Lights went out at 7 & still out..Its getting a little chilly..(just a little)
I could lay on the floor with dogs..They would keep me warm..And clean..LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Barb, they'll keep you young, tired perhaps, but young...happy birthday to your daughter..enjoy your family day..

Not sure who is going to look after who on this upcoming trip..lol..kids are old enough to understand this old gal doesn't have as much energy as they..

Tubby hope hydro comes on soon, you wouldn't want to be catching a cold..if it doesn't is there somewhere you and Shirley could go?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I just got home to discover Tubby with no power. That was three hours ago.. Are you and Shirley okay? Have you gone somewhere to keep warm? I'm concerned........
Bar-b-qued tips and chicken with salad for lunch at daughters house. It was fun. DSIL cooked for all and this was really good for him. His DGM passed this last week and his family was there too to celebrate DD's b'day. It helps for all to see that life does go on and that family will always be there. Plus - ice cream cake!!!! Loved it. Hope everyone is okay this afternoon.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Hope all are staying safe wiIth some of the weather going on out there......sunny and only a slight breeze here today....supposed to be over seventy tomorrow!!!!! I so have a case of Spring Fever!!!!

Sure has been quiet on DG today.......

Anyone talked to Stacey lately....hasn't been on and no answer to my d-mail either.......

Working on ideas for Fairie Garden.....

Barb sorry for the loss.........Birth
days are good things....BBQ....Ice Cream Cake...can't get much better than that!!!

Have a bird out front I need to look up...wish I could get a good picture....smaller than a robin, has the same robin red underside, much darker on top and the tail is a bit longer...it sounds more like a cat than a bird!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Trisha - a nuthatch of some kind? There is a rust chested one but I'm not sure of its range. Love the idea of the fairy garden in the big dish. I just wish I was clever that way with clay and plants.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Barb, so glad there was a b'day party, as Trisha said, a renewal of life.

Thinking about Tubby too. We had warm weather, about 70 again, but thunderstorms and the threat of a tornado. Should be a bit colder tomorrow, but warmer on Tuesday. I don't remember weather quite like this ever in all my many years. Still, I look out and see bright green...and so beautiful. The sun is out again as it has been throughout the day. The red Japanese maples are so pretty. Most of the flowering ornamentals are coming to an end, and that means more tulips and iris.

Spring is good. Mud is not pleasant, but life goes on, doesn't it?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Ralph Waldo Emerson had one of my favorite quotes..."But in the mud and scum of things, there always, always, something sings...."

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

hellooooo...

back on track.. meds are good.. GD is much improved thanks

tubby, you sent me a dmail..... i must admit it concerned me a little..... im not racist or anything in my country. dont get me wrong, we have it here but not as much as in america.... your email probably wasnt the most positive thing to send on.... i dont feel as though i want imigrants out of our country.... i dont think all that it said was right and john howard who is no longer prime minister wouldnt support it either... just thought you should know.. dont believe all you hear. Im happy to hear from you but not that kind of stuff honey xxxxxx.
hope your feeling better....

hugs

Victoria Harbour, ON

Busy day, sure hope everyone is ok..weather sounds dreadful in some parts of USA..Tubby, hope you found somewhere to keep warm..

Won't keep you all with my gabbing tonight, rather tired..

Did work on one of the 3 little panels...that I'll have on closet door..just a fun project..you know me, have to keep busy..

Best of the day...Caleb and Braedon called to see if I was excited as they were about the upcoming Washington trip...

Worse of the day...friend of mine is terribly worried about her family..

What did I learn today...friendship in any form is hard to come by, sometimes we have to accept that not all see things in same light, that not all words are said to be harmful....life is short..be content and enjoy!

Laura that is why I sent it.I wish someone could go after people that send such lies..

Power came back on, 11 1/2 hrs was a long time. No TV, No Comp, No Shirley,.& these 4 legged furry's can't talk..LOL

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All;

Very well said Betty! I am getting excited about your trip too! I know those boys will take care of DGM. What do they call you? Mine was always "Grandma", around here it's Maw Maw. I'll be headed to the beach, I believe, the exact same dates or thereabouts.

Tubby - SO glad you got power back. Hope you are feeling well today.

Sharran - I wish I could grow tulips - I think it's too hot here. Did you get to play in the dirt today? :)

Trisha - GOOD QUOTE!

Laura - SO glad DGD is better, but what a scare. Hopefully at the very least DR. apologized...

I know I'm missing something but have to go in there and clean up the sheets, pillows & blankets. We ended up with 5 boys last night. They played video games till 5am!

I did get to play in the dirt today! Details later....

Hugs to All,
Mary

Okay- Night Shift -

Where is everyone tonight?

Today DH & I visited 4 nurseries. He planted my Hibiscus, red banana's, cedar-cypress tree, pencil plant, moved jasmine & red cannas.

I planted 4 caladiums (along the "Path of least resistance") and a cosmos. Transplanted grass DH dug up around veggie garden....it gets so muddy back there.

Plus watered / Miracle Gro-'d.

I tried to put some more clippings aside for trade coming May 16th.

One more weekend before Florida Beach trip, and it's supposed to rain next weekend....so the backyard should enjoy a nice "Vacation" from me and my meddlings.

Last year was my FIRST year in gardening....and I am finding I am too impatient....I plan something for an area...and lo & behold....something I planted last year actually comes BACK!

The garter snake has been let back out into the yard. So it will either bolt for a neighbors yard in fear of the torture it's been put through by the girls....OR it will lie back there...waiting to take it's revenge on me. :)

Hugs,
Mary

Mary those flowers are beautiful. I have some pics of mine but it's going to have to wait until tomorrow, I'm beat!

Seed you have been the busy one, haven't you? It's looking really good!

Bev I'm so sorry for your loss hun. ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) T&P too!

Well I was going to say something else but don't remember and am too tired, got to go to work tomorrow so I'm hitting the hay!

See ya tomorrow!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Sounds like you have been a busy bee....Hurray for the snake....back where he belongs and if he ...Laura came over and we got a little weeding done, two small evergreens planted then got some of our Polymer stuff Photographed. I may start a Gnome later!!

Baton Rouge, LA

Okay Crissy - Night Night! Get a good nights sleep so you can deal with "Mrs. Cheerful" tomorrow!

Hugs,
Mary

Baton Rouge, LA

Hey Trisha! Yes - I was actually feeling so sorry for the little guy. (Snake) and if DH says he's good for the garden...then maybe I can deal with him.

He's had a hard time these last few days....likely he'll move on to greener pastures.

If not - I'll just try to be on guard so he won't scare me so.

Glad you guys got to 'play in dirt' today. I was up late with all going on last night...but we did get a LOT done.

Spring has Sprung!
Hugs,
Mary

Night Tubby.......yep that was a Corny One!!

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Hi gang,

We had tornado warnings all day, nothing happened, but thunderstorms, and they were not very heavy, so no real problem. I was only outside a few times, and too wet to do anything wonderful.
Glad the snake is back outside, bet he won't be seen again for awhile.
I know they are helpful, but I don't much like them.

Talked with 4 year old grandson for about an hour tonight. He will be here the weekend of the 17th, so he calls pretty often. We have a list of all the things we are going to do that weekend, and it is growing. I am not sure there are enough hours for all that he has planned. Tonight we added this to the list: Pick up sticks, paint them in colors.

So I guess that is what we will be doing. He is a real treat. Last summer he heard me tell somebody that I was going to plant something along the perimeter of the back yard. When his dad came to pick him up and asked what we had been doing, he told his dad we were going to plant 'primeters' in the back yard.

He also knows how to play with anything. He found a thin stick last fall, and he brought it to me and said: "Nana, look at this incredible stick. It can be a sword, it can be a fishing pole, it can be a sign holder. It is an incredible stick."

He is an incredible kid. Tonight we played 'take away' and 'add on' with numbers.

I am probably repeating myself, but he is so fun, and I enjoy having him with me so much.

Very nearly bedtime for me...so tired tonight, but for no reason at all.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Sorry I'm in and out.....Laura and SAge are here and we are looking at ideas for Fairie Gardens and houses......

Looks like my BIL will be in ICU at least another week or two....SIL asked if can come up and spend some time with her...she is having a difficult time being there alone all the time.

Have a good night Sharon.....kids are so much fun aren't they?

Baton Rouge, LA

Hey Sharran my special friend!

Your GS is so intelligent! For 4 yrs old!?!?! That is really cool. Do you spend much time with him?

I believe you are in "Teacher-mode" with him and that is really drawing him out.....to have such an imagination to be able to find different uses for a STICK - that is just truly imagination plus!

Does he live close by?

I will have to start learning from you some tricks to getting them to expand their knowledge at that age. :)

Obviously "Teenagers" already know everything...and way more than I do. :)

Hugs,
Mary

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Tried to think about going to bed, but not yet, I guess.

He lives in Chicago, so I don't see him very often. We talk on the phone 3 or 4 times a week, whenever he can sneak his mom's cell phone, I think. Amazing how he learned my number so quickly.

We have always been very close. His mom's side has tons of relatives, but only his Aunt Ashley and me on his dad's side. Somehow he picked me, I guess. He has his own room here, his own toys....could be because he was not quite 2 when my husband died, and he thought somehow that I shouldn't be alone. So they let him stay with me for long weekends, often a week at a time. It was a great diversion for me, and he loved it because he got all my attention. Things haven't changed much because he still loves it, and if it weren't for his being in pre school and at such a distance, he would be here more often.

I know things will change as he gets older, but till then, I just enjoy him.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hey Sharran - So He calls You - that is very special. He's truly a SMART kid. Are you able to plan weekends or vacations with him?

I anticipate being in your shoes one day. I want to be a grandparent just like you.

Where you keep in touch with your GK's. My Mom was very active with her grandkids but she passed away in '04. My Dad never really connected with my son. I am very sad about that. But DH's parents are trying very hard to include my DS with everything they do.

I just cannot understand how some people can NOT want to connect with their GK's.

It's beyond me.

Hugs,
Mary

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

You are up awfully late, Miss Mary...what's up?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

It is quiet...at last...sort of....Laura and Sage just left...and my ears are tired......that child never stops talking unless she has a cartoon show going on TV.

By sort of....they are gone but DH has the Country Music Awards on, so still a lot of noise... but I have a volume control this!

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

My first crocus..many years the rabbits eat them before they even bloom.
I was so surprised to see it.
Now they are calling for snow flurries for the next few days..but yesterday was lovely..
One of my fav things to do is get french fries from a truck in the warm weather and sit in the sunshine to eat them.
I did that yesterday..lots of people were out and about.
I bought new cabinet pulls at Home Depot to give my kitchen a lift.

Happy Monday all.

Morning, no guessing Carol about the weather, snowing to beat the dickens here this a.m. - will it never go away....

We also have a chip truck just down the road, their fries are to die for..
1st crocus, know it made you smile...

Last night I thought I'd go through what I should bring with me on Thursday, after telling the grandchildren only small napsack bags I can't very well fill a suitcase..so must bring very little..lol...if temps were better I could bring some of those pretty outfits I bought in Florida..

In my prayers last night, I said 'please, please Lord let it be nice weather'..just incase we don't, thought when I pick up the children's journals/pens I'd buy 5 umbrella's..

Getting antsy, only days left and NOW I think, what am I doing 4 young men and me for 5 or 6 days...an adventure for sure...

As for what they call me, Kyle and Noah it's Grandma, Caleb and Braedon it's, Grandma Betty...as you can tell they are the love of my life..I can only hope that they continue to be like their dad's!! I must have done something right...

Shar, what fun you'll have with your 'to do' list..hope the weather heads in another direction, know how you fret about it...any more projects on the go?

Trisha, sounds as though you are still quite tired..you do to much..best you pick a day .. a Trisha day...and rest!

Linda Kay should be back today or tomorrow, do hope all went well with the visit and her dad's health...

Mary, might be a gardening day for you..

Prayers for all in need...

Now to find something to wear..put most of my winter things away, shouldn't have done that...

Talk later..
