That's great, Mary, really great!

Think about the teaching thing, though...really think about it.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Meeting is over, need to head home and get some dinner, I'm starved!!

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello All;

I will.... It has been a strange week at work. Hard to describe without boring you all... but I do have some clients who know that I may not be around after May.....but are depending on me to hang around until then.

And I have upper management who don't know at all what's going on that are chastising me for stuff that they know nothing about.

I'm torn about tomorrow. I might head in on time....or take a vacation day. I get four weeks vacation a year and no big vacations planned for this year....(Plus if I leave....I'll need to sneak in my vacation early)

Love the idea of teaching but I'm not a morning person. BUT if I am doing something I LOVE wouldn't I want to become a Morning Person!?!?!

Hugs,
Mary

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

I am not a morning person either, but became one for 37 years.
And yes it was worth it!

Baton Rouge, LA

AH - Sharran- You are tempting me to develop this idea!

I am so torn right now. My own company is SO hard to work for. They are throwing accounts at me now to keep me....April will be a huge month for me.....

But I can probably go to work at any TV or Radio company in town and if not...I have money saved to take time to make my choices....

So it's money vs. quality of life. And I really feel I should pay off the house before I make a life-changing decision! DH is doing better and better in his job....but my income has always been the primary income for this family (Hence my frustration with DSD1 and DSD2 in all that I've provided for them and it's never been appreciated or 'enough').

So - So much to decide!

Hugs to all,

Mary

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Hugs back, Mary.
I know it is a tough decision, particularly in this economy.

You will think it through and do the right thing for you.

Bedtime here, have a good evening.

Baton Rouge, LA

Bedtime (or really too late as you know) for me too...HUgs, Mary

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Don't like mornings and I have one tomorrow......got to take DH to work because i need the car....:(

Mary, just think it out and follow your heart...it will all work out for the best.

Thanks for the company tonight Sharran, you and DP made the time bearable.....Think I am turning in too....

A few tears ago I got my youngest DD Shannon."Hook line & sinker" Oldest DD Sheree was on vacation in Mexico..I called Shannon & told her Sheree had won Mexico Lottery,2.5 million...Oh she bit hard..LOL..She called her DH to tell him..He said you do know it's April 1st...Man was she wound up when she called me back..LOL

I was to busy to pull off a decent joke..My R.O. system has leak in the little faucet on sink...DARN..

I go to cancer clinic this morning.For my bone meds, & 2 hr nap..LOL I'll need a nap..I woke up just before 3am & couldn't get back to sleep.Yawn..

Then to Sears hopefully the stove will be in..Depends how early thier deliveries get there..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning,

Mary from the sounds of it YOU are ready for a career change..I often meet some of the children now adults and they go on about just how much they enjoyed the programs I provided..guess Shar was the day teacher and I was the after school teacher..providing for grandparents/parents/children and on to their children..

I so did enjoy it..guess it never left me, still always trying to provide what I can to generate self interest...

See what options are available..you might be surprised...

Trisha might be something for Laura as well..wouldn't that be something...what was the outcome of your meeting..

Shar did all the rosebushes survive?

Hear you all talking about being a morning person, wow, I must make the grade..just don't ask me to stay up late too many nights in a row..

Have my last Thursday painting class for a few weeks so a long day today..

Tubby, glad you are o.k. - when I didn't see you post thought perhaps it was the day for your 'nap'..it's today, don't give those nurses a hard time!

Bernie goes for his meeting today with insurance company, a miracle might make them offer a settlement, if not his lawyer said he'd book the court date..it's been a few years..long process...losing your home to fire (at least most of it) then being told you'll get no coverage is quite a blow..I asked for prayers for his health (had the operation and is doing ok) also said he was waiting for a settlement for work he did..settled and got 1/2 the payment and now the final thing hanging over his head...sure hope their is a miracle out there and I get my happy go lucky brother back...

Ohhh a week today I leave with the 4 grandchildren, excited as can be!

Off to have my coffee and cereal...

two sports
and either take music
or dance classes.

There is no fast food.

Each man must
take care of his 3 kids;
keep his assigned house clean,

with not enough money.

In addition, each man

and over again for the next 18-25 years
eventually earning the right

Subject:A Frog Goes To The Bank

A frog goes into a bank and approaches the teller. He can see from her nametag that her name is Patricia Whack.

"Miss Whack, I'd like to get a $30,000 loan to take a holiday."

Patty looks at the frog in disbelief and asks his name. The frog says his name is Kermit Jagger, his dad is Mick Jagger, and that it's okay, he knows the bank manager.

Patty explains that he will need to secure the loan with some collateral.

The frog says, "Sure. I have this," and produces a tiny porcelain elephant, about an inch tall, bright pink and perfectly formed.

Very confused, Patty ex plains that she'll have to consult with the bank manager and disappears into a back office.

She finds the manager and says, "There's a frog called Kermit Jagger out there who claims to know you and wants to borrow $30,000, and he wants to use this as collateral."

She holds up the tiny pink elephant.. "I mean, what in the world is this?"

(you're gonna love this)

The bank manager looks back at her and says...

"It's a knickknack, Patty Whack. Give the frog a loan, His old man's a Rolling Stone."

(You're singing it, aren't you? Yeah, I know you are........)

Morning Janice, you are at home today, do hope the weather will be as nice there as here! What do you have planned? are all your computer systems up and running, men at the office got you up and running?

Tubby, love the 'survivor' now that's a challenge

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Actually, I'm at work, but don't tell my boss. Wont be home and sewing until tomorrow.
I'm still having trouble with Adobe! The update just wont work on my computer and yet it says I have it already installed. Means I can't open anything that is a pdf. file (mosly e-mail cards, forms, etc.). Probably shuld wipe it and start over but I don't want to go through the trouble so I just live with it. At present I can send what i can't open to work and open it there. If I retire I may have to do something else.

What do you think of our girl's quilts. I think she needs a better sewing machine than mine since she is going to be leaving me in the dust when it comes to quilting.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Janice, those quilts are so nice. I know who ever gets them will be soooo delighted!

Stacey will need to get at least a part-time job Janice in order to fund her new love...glad she's enjoying it! How nice to have someone to share your love with..did you enjoy the material shop you both went to on the weekend or did you have time for shopping?

Went to the post office at lunch, got my windchime swap off, so with the 2 I gave to Stacey for shipping..all caught up..how much do you want to bed I'll be over at the swap thread to see what else I can get into....

Sat here painting this a.m. on my project..making more of a mess than getting ahead so put it aside, just ate the goodies I picked up, have a few errands to run after work then painting class it is..

It's the nicest day yet, must be in the 60's..so wish I wasn't painting, I'd go home and work in the yard..don't know what news station I was on this morning, hope it was local news as they are calling for light snow Mon.&Tues. please say it isn't so....

I'll be so relieved when all the raking in the yard has been done, then gradually, all my pretty things can go outside...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just got a call from Bernie, well Charlene really, Bernie had to go rest, not feeling the best..

They did make some headway..Insurance lawyer suggested that the company selling the policy take 1/3rd of the blame, that they (insurance company) would take 1/3 of the blame and Bernie would take 1/3 of the blame.... because the courts are so far behind it might take years before going to court..lawyer said he'd contact the insurance company and crunch out numbers....imagine...

TOO FUNNY
At the end of the tax year the IRS office sent an inspector to audit the books of a Synagogue. While he was checking the books he turned to the Rabbi and said, "I notice you buy a lot of candles. What do you do with the candle drippings?"

"Good question," noted the Rabbi. We save them up and send them back to the candle makers, and every now and then they send us a free box of candles.."

"Oh," replied the auditor, somewhat disappointed that his unusual question had a practical answer. But on he went, in his obnoxious way: "What about all these bread wafer purchases? What do you do with the crumbs?"

"Ah, yes," replied the Rabbi, realizing that the inspector was trying to trap him with an unanswerable question. "We collect them and send them back to the manufacturer, and every now and then they send us a free box of bread-wafers."

"I see," replied the auditor, thinking hard about how he could fluster the know-it-all Rabbi. "Well, Rabbi," he went on,"what do you do with all the leftover foreskins from the circumcisions you perform?"

"Here, too, we do not waste," answered the Rabbi. "What we do is save all the foreskins and send them to the IRS office, and about once a year they send us one of you

I haven't tried this..????

This is great!

If you don't have "On-Star" or a GPS system, fear not! Here's something that we can all afford....y'know...FREE!

Google 411

Just leave it to Google to come up with something like this!!!

Here's a number worth putting in your cell phone, or your home phone speed dial: 1-800-goog411..Business..or residence 1 800 373-3411
This is an awesome service from Google, and it's free -- great when you are on the road.

Don't waste your money on information calls and don't waste your time manually dialing the number.

I am driving along in my car and I need to call the golf course and I don't know the number. I hit the speed dial for information that I have programmed. The voice at the other end says, "City & State." I say, " Garland , Texas " He says, "Business, Name or Type of Service." I say, Firewheel Golf Course." He says, "Connecting" and Firewheel answers the phone. How great is that?

This is nationwide and it is absolutely free!

Click on the link below and watch the short clip for a quick demonstration.

Funny Safe
Saturday morning I got up early, dressed quietly, made my lunch, grabbed the dog, slipped quietly into the garage to hook the boat up to the truck, and proceeded to back out into a torrential down pour.

The wind was blowing 50 mph. I pulled back into the garage, turned on the radio, and discovered that the weather would be bad throughout the day.

I went back into the house, quietly undressed, and slipped back into bed. There I cuddled up to my wife's back, now with a different anticipation, and whispered, 'The weather out there is terrible.'

My loving wife of 20 years replied, 'Can you believe my husband is out fishing in that weather?'

I still don't know to this day if she was joking, but I have stopped fishing.

Not the best day..Talk latter

This is cute

JAMES (age 4) was listening to a Bible story. His dad read: 'The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city but his wife looked back and was turned to salt.' Concerned, James asked: 'What happened to the flea?'

The Sermon I think this Mom will never forget .

This particular Sunday sermon...'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust...' He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

Terry LOOLL!! Just finishes off my ever so fun day pissing the other secretary off. She's so lame, I swear, and I think it's so funny, I was trying not to laugh at my desk and point at her telling her what an arrogant dumb@#$# she is.

You know what, I'll post it.

So it's 11am and one of the girls asks me for the key to the storage room. Another girl standing behind my chair makes a joke and asks, "So why is it 11:00 and the storage room isn't open yet?" I said, making a joke back, "Because we're a bunch of lazy *&&^&." The other secretary spun around in her chair, glared at me and yelled, "Don't you call ME Lazy, I am NOT LAZY!!!" (as she's kicked back in her chair sending a text message over her cell phone.) I looked right at her and kept saying, "We, WE WE, not you, but WE!" She wouldn't talk or look at me all day. At around 4pm one of the girls asked her something and she snapped real loud, "NO ONE calls ME names!" The longer the day went on the harder it was to not crack up laughing and pointing my finger at her telling her what a turd she looks like. Good thing she can hardly walk because she needs knee surgery and she's my mom's age huh? LOL She's always told me she can beat me in a fight because I'm a drunk. Yea!

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Okay, so, this turned into a novel; sorry.

So, I got the results from the MRI today and I have chondromalacia and a Baker’s Cyst.

This is likely the cause of my long term knee issues.

Chondromalacia is due to an irritation of the undersurface of the kneecap. The undersurface of the kneecap, or patella, is covered with a layer of smooth cartilage. This cartilage normally glides effortlessly across the knee during bending of the joint. However, in some individuals, the kneecap tends to rub against one side of the knee joint, and the cartilage surface become irritated, and knee pain is the result.

And this is the cause of the recent pain.

Baker’s Cyst usually occurs due to some other problem in your knee such as arthritis or even a tear of your meniscus. The swelling from this problem causes fluid to build up in your knee. This fluid pushes out the weakest point of your joint capsule surrounding your knee. This is usually to the back portion of your knee capsule, and a cyst forms. The cyst has a valve made out of your joint capsule tissue. This valve can sometimes become clogged and the fluid becomes trapped in the cyst. Thus, even when the injury has resolved, you still have the swelling in the back of your knee. This is associated with pain usually described as dull and aching. The pain is worse with prolonged walking or standing. It is sometimes improved with rest, elevation and taking pain medication.

I’m getting a referral to find out what they’re going to do about it, likely a shot for the baker’s cyst.

Betty, the landlord decided to have someone come out and work on the facet in the bathtub, when turned upside down it filled up quickly, so the leak was worst than I thought. They could figure out where the shingles came from, so we’ll keep an eye out and look for problems. He was going to come out later to take a better look at the roof, but for that matter, with as windy as it was, they could have come off someone else’s roof.

Betty, this place defiantly has soul, I don’t know if it has a soul, or if it’s just a “real” house. I was once told that a house is no more than a building until it’s had a birth, a marriage and a death. These things don’t happen in the house anymore, but I think it’s metaphysical anyways. The last house was completely soulless.

I’ve gotten more or less used to the Allergies, they are more or less like having a cold for a month or more; stuffed up nose and fatigue, sometimes a low grade fever, and then itchy eyes. I can deal with everything but the fatigue with medication; I have prescription for nasal spay and eye drops, then pain killers. I also have been taking a prescription allergy medication.

Julie, I think what I have is Flonase (sp?) it works well for me, it occasionally wears off, but clears them out when I need it.

Mom, etc. I considered going back to get my master in teaching, but I’d need too many prereqs, and they wouldn’t be covered by finical aid.

To find a shortage of teachers around here you’d probably have to go out to the Res.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty I'm so glad to hear about Bernie! Yay!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Laura thanks for all of the info. I have a slight tear in my smooth cartilage right behind my kneecap. That doesn't heal on it's own and will be that way until I have surgery to get it smoothed out, they use some sort of sander. He said that cartilage wears down as we age, and when we have knee problems and need replacements it's usually because the cartilage is gone, but mine is as thick as a 5 year old childs, so there's a lot to work with. I just don't have time to have the surgery.

At least you know what's wrong now and the steps to take to fix it. Sounds pretty simple but painful at the same time.

Dave has allergies real bad, I got up the other morning to find all of the Benedril and Clairitin on the kitchen counter. I feel so bad for everyone who has allergies.

I'm thinking about taking tomorrow off, just for no reason at all really, but I don't want to use any more time.

nite nite!

Hello To All;

DH rented "The Secret life of Bee's" for me Sunday - we just got a chance to watch it before overdue.

A tear jerker...feel good ....chick movie....I loved it.

DCat Shadow caught our garter snake today.....DD1 loves snakes so in the aquarium it goes! It's new name is "Ribbon". Well - at least he won't surprise me in the yard as he's done on several occasions. I won't get near him.

Anjl - aren't you my American Idol friend? Did you watch this week?

Hugs,
Mary

Me too - laughed & cried all the way through it.

Hey Laura!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, raining outside but that's ok, will do the grass and flowers good..Cathy was here again yesterday, entire back yard is done, leaves put in firepit and she even put a tarp of the leaves incase it rained so they wouldn't be wet to burn..what a gal...will be so much easier for her..had a thought this morning, gave her a quilt for looking after Sailor and the kitties when I was in Buffalo for looking after the house, I've mega glass so I'll ask her if she'd like a stained glass lamp, something simple that won't take me an eternity to make..she likes pretty things as well..

Tired last night, worked on my project at work so didn't have much to do, just some tints..got there 1/2 hr. early, sat and read as Carol wasn't home ..she pulled in, red eyed from crying, her mom had passed away at 3:30..said we ought to leave but she said it would do her good to have friends around..we left at 9:30, think I was the only one with a finished project..might add more highlights but it's done, now to stain the table..won't do it to compliment the insert because I'll change it from time to time...Really felt bad for Carol and her family..

Bit nauseated this a.m. but know it's just hearing about so many deaths in the last week, my girlfriend Ann who you've heard me talk about is coming to the cottage this weekend..her daughter Melissa has been advised to had operatiion in the throat, they are pretty sure its cancer..then Mike her hubby has a growth on his arm, waiting for his operation..so with deaths and illnesses, brings mega feelings back up to the surface, knowing what each family is going through...best I get something to eat, maybe that will help..

Mary, sounds like a movie I should rent when the kids are over...

It's that time, will gab with you all later...

AnnMarie, you feeling a little bit better? glad to see you post..how is your son doing, any news on when he might be able to come home?

Laura, that's good news/bad news...knowing what is causing the pain and now to find the solutions...

Crissy, maybe you hit a sore spot with her..you take that extended long weekend and enjoy..you and Dave can get more gardening done...

Betty, that painting is beautiful. Sorry to hear about all your friends getting sick, and passsing.
I took my Dad to the Dr,yesterday for a follow up for his CT scan, and stuff. Well, when we first got there they took his blood pressure, his temp, and his pulse. His pusle was only 42, so they immediately did a EKG. I was told my Dad's heart is giving out, he needs a pacemaker. Dad wants nothing to do with it. The Dr. told him it will help his heart reat, but it will not control anoter stroke from happening. He also told us it was not a good ised to make the trip to Arizona this week-end, but after talking to the Dr. he said, well, better go have a good time on the trip, instead of sitting at home waiting for something to happen. So we are getting things in the truck now, while Dad is doing his breathing treatment.
I will be back online Tuesday night sometime.

You all have a great week-end, and behave yourselves!

Laura, you need to take the time to get your knee fixed, it will only keep rubbing, and getting worse. You have to take care of yourself first, so you can take care of sage and family!

LK

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty I'm sorry about your friends, ((((((hugs)))))). So sad to see someone grieving when you know there's not a lot you can do other than hug and talk to them. Of course that could be all a person is looking for.

I'd say inferiority complex. She's always mad at me over something that has to do with me talking in general and her saying I'm talking directly about her. I don't want her talking to me anyway so that's fine, she can be mad.

LK you have a good trip, drive careful, and tell Dad to be careful and take care of himself. See ya Tuesday hun!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sorry to hear about the news re your dad LindaKay, I think it's a great idea to go on the trip, nothing will be gained your staying home and it might do wonders for him...no fun getting old right? Drive safely...

Crissy, did you end up going to work today or did you stay home? no fun working under those conditions..

Pouring rain here today, calling for same all weekend, even think snow showers for several days next week..we might as well get it over with..
I'm fine with staying in all weekend..

Tom was over yesterday and did the closet frame and squared it off..not sure if he'll be back today with the door he custom made...I was thinking, I said 'will the door be able to be painted?' and he said 'sure can' but I think I should have said 'decorative pattern painting?' we'll see, whatever he puts up will be an improvement to those plastic fan type doors...

Only 10am, need something to do or it will be a long day..think I left my portrait materials here..that should help the day go quicker..
Carol last night also told me if I take the photo's of the chair set to Staples they can reverse image them and it will be easier to follow painting them..technology....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh I'm at work lol! And she's still mad at me! I'm afraid my desk will be sabotaged. lol! She's the nasty one I'm always complaining about her lashing out at me and wanting to compete with me about Everything. I don't want her talking to me, so it's fine with me that she's mad. My boss even told me about 6 months ago to not talk to her, so this is fine. She obviously has a problem with knowing she's lazy, and nasty, and lies all the time about everything, and a complete hypocrite otherwise she wouldn't get mad when someone starts joking about themselves or just simply making a joke. She's just a bully and she gets mad because I just don't care. Dave says she's trying to compensate for what she's lacking in IQ lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

He could be right...sketching Caleb, get's harder when the children get older, more wrinkles I guess....lol...best not do a portrait of myself..major line work I'm sure...
