Congratulations and good luck Kim - from the northeast

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Bonnie and Synda, sorry could stay up with ya....I agree with Marion....slept pretty well once I got to sleep, listening to the heavy rain....and right now it has turned to Snow Flakes. Is it going to be another of those years? We had Snow on April 17 last year!! Never know what we are getting any more.

BJ and LK are right! Definitely try the minerals....I finally did and they have helped with a lot of problems.......

Hooray Stacey!!! Those are Beautiful!!! You did a great job kiddo!!

BJ I have tried every vac. known to man I think....from the Dust Buster to my Moms Kirby and hated every one of them until I go this Panasonic.....I will never buy another vac. This is the only one I have found that gets all the dog hair and very long cat fur and does not clog...the thing sucked up the big plastic bag my newspaper comes in...and almost got one of kitchen towels that Bill dropped. And when you unplug it you just go and step on the little yellow tab and the cord rolls itself up!!!

Jaye, how you doing today ???? I worry about you....

Kim that is fantastic news!!! We are all so happy for you!!!

Afternoon All!

I'm up, had pill regimen, cereal, doing laundry - have to, I'm out of undies. it can't decide if it's going to rain or not, and it's a wee bit nippy.

Randall looked at me when he got up at 6:20, said, "so what caffeine sodas did you drink?" because he asked me about coffee late last night. sure 'nuf, I realized I'd gotten a diet coke to drink when I picked up a burger for Hope as a treat at MickeyD's. I'd forgotten! if remembered, would have taken more meds last night. I'm that sensitive to the caffeine.

this left quad muscle is messed up still. going to go work on my "office". it's piled high and deep and I'm missing some receipts for taxes. that's priority #1 until further notice. so no playing on DG today for me.....after this!

Oh! but I saw a photo of a full sized Black Hills hosta on DG around 4 a.m. Oh MY! have to have one. Gorgeous, and Randall is from Rapid City SD, in the Black Hills.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Trisha, love that pot. Did you make it? I have never heard of a panasonic vacuum cleaner. I went out last year and paid more than $200.00 for my sears canister vac, and it is blowing dust all over the place. I need to take it in for repairs. Always something!

Bon, hope you find your papers for yout taxes! UGH! That date is approaching real fast. We don't have enough to file the long form, so it is just the quicky tax forms for us! So we don't have to save all those reciepts. Totally different story when I owned the tattoo shop! YUCK! H&R block charged me $600.00 to do the taxes. So glad I don't have to do that anymore...

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

BJ are those minerals like taking an old fashioned tonic? My Mom used to give us molasses and bread for a snack in the spring to "wake up your blood". Is this the same idea?

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

LK, the heart cath is set for Mon. at 12:00 noon! Maybe I'll find out right after when I can have the knee done! I'm pretty down because of not being able to have it done and over!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Sorry LK, the Flamingo pot is at JoAnn's...we took the picture to keep that idea because we would LIKE to make one......but it will have to be a small one....even with a tin foil core it would take a lot of clay!

I had never heard of a Panasonic vacuum either until we went to this little vacuum cleaner shop to look around.....we explained the Pet Hair problem and the guy said this was the best there is......he was right.....it was on sale for $199 and I have never regretted the purchase!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Huh, would've never thought that Panasonic would make a vacuum cleaner. When mine croaks, I have a bissell that works really well, I'll have to remember to look into it.

Good Afternoon, BTW! LOL

Just wanted to pop in and say Haya! I need to be working and don't want to do none of it, I have a ton of filing to do and am not in the mood. Oh well, gotta quit procrastinating and just do it! I can't stop yawning either. ug.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh good Audrey, I'm so sorry you couldn't have the surgery and have to deal with this instead. I'm praying for ya girl.

Yay Kim! Congratulations!! Being a homeowner is quite rewarding if you can do it, so much better than renting.

Raleigh, NC

read a bit before I put down the computer. of course I'm back on

Marion - stay high and dry!

Stacy - way to go girl! ok - now you've made a quilt, guess I have to finally bite the bullet and make one too. learned how years ago, never made but one square.

Kim - I always like to do walkthrough the day before, but late afternoon, still daylight. closing day gets very hectic, stressed, and if any problems found on the walkthrough, the day of is NOT the time to get them seen to. [one walkthrough was supposed to be the day of, and I demanded it the day before. listing agent (big agent) went ballistic on me but I won. Hurricane Fran came the night before that, dumped a tree through the roof. agent had lots of listed houses, didn't bother to check this vacant house!] then I always try to be first appt. on closing day, that way other folk's "issues" won't cause us a delay. you can end up closing a day late if the folks ahead of you have a problem closing. And your deed can be recorded the same day. afternoon closings tend to get recorded the next day. no one here will hand over the keys until the deeds are recorded.

Raleigh, NC

LOL LK - only wish we could do any tax form any more. It's been very complicated for years. Randall has used this accountant since 1982, sure glad to have him back. but he's a bit older than us, so....

Trisha, my condolences along with the rest. end to suffering is best. Hope your heart finds rest.

OK I'm sold on the minerals.

had pre-menapausal symtoms for 10 years! after six, started having irregular periods for the first time in my life. now one whole year without a single period, so am officially "post menapausal."

daughter Bevin works at a compounding pharmacy. if you can't take the estrogen pills - Mom had massive radical mastecomy, I have fibercysistis (sp?) so that stops me - she turned me on to Black Cohosh. Hope I spelled that one right. The only thing is it worked a little too well, it restarted regular periods! it's an herbal diet supplement pill sold most anywhere.

LK - did you know the current vacuums for under $300 are designed to last one year, no more, i.e., fail after one year? I was stunned. for anyone with allergies, don't ever buy a "Rainbow" vacuum. they advertise them as good for allergies, but all my allergists have been up in arms about them, say the darn things make allergies worse. they recommend hepa filters. and wearing a mask when you change the bags. And although Kirbys clean great, I've never met any female over the age of 40 that could use their own, it was too heavy. [in ID, needed $ so I started a cleaning service, learned a few things - yeah, I was a paid maid]

Trisha - OK - that's a FANTASTIC POT I'm going to check at Joann's

Audrey - good luck, hope all is well

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Trisha I'm sorry for your loss also. I know what that's like, my grandmother suffered for years with Alzheimer's. After my grandfather passed my evil aunt showed up out of the blue and sued everyone, won everything there was she could win, moved my grandmother in with her, grandmother had no idea where she was at and half the time didn't know who she was living with. We moved her into a very nice rest home before all of the lawsuits were over because the whole family works and she needed 24 hour care, she thought that every man was my grandfather and she was at work. All of that started in 1997 and she had a massive stroke in 2000. We were wondering if it was right to pray for her to stop suffering. I remember in 1998 we all got together and asked the Lord to please take her as she was suffering and it would leave my aunt without a leg to stand on because the will would've kicked in then. I even told my evil aunt that I would give her whatever she wanted, she didn't have to sue us, just come talk to us. She just looked at me, called me a lying B*%^^$, and said we were all lying about my grandmother's health as she was fine. As soon as she won all of the furniture she moved my grandmother to a rest home. She hadn't been around in 4 years, how did she know what kind of health my grandmother was in?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Crissyr I am so sorry to hear all of that but seems every family has one.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

That's a fact, and once I get started with that story I can't seem to stop lol! The indignity of it all!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I dunno Barb... never looked at the ingredients in molasses. I know that when I couldn't take the homone pills prescribed by the doctor... I went looking for an alternative... A friend of mine's mother is the old lady that told me about them... and I said, hey, they can't hurt me... right?
She told me that it's just the natural order of things for women to STOP their periods at some point in their life... and when they do, their glands react to that and don't process minerals in our diet very well during that time. It's the process of those minerals that keep us from getting the cancers that threaten women during menopause, and we're told if we don't take hormone pills, we're in danger of getting those cancers.

So, I bought a bottle... and saw almost immediate results. Took them for 6 months strait. Then I ran into some financial difficulties and stopped buying it. Never went back to the old menopausal discomforts... and so far, 20 years later, have no signs of any cancer cells anywhere in my body.

NOW, I occasionally buy a bottle in the Spring (haven't now for a few years) because just taking them when spring planting starts and I get so active outside tends to give me more energy... and I do sleep better too (might have something to do with being more active, though).

What I find a shame is... Doctors don't want you to know about them... #1 they're over the counter, no prescription, and they don't get a kick back. They're all natural, and doctors are in the business to give you pills. #2 If you get cured without them, it cuts into their wallet. and #3... I don't think they're taught holistic remedies in Med School.

Ok, enough of my soap box... I believe in colloidal minerals...
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

It's kind of like last year when I was experiencing so much stomach problems... my doctor ordered every test imaginable... and had more tests for me to take. I took a barrage of medications, most of which I still have half a bottle of in the medicine cabinet. Then, I found out that all I needed was 1 oz of Apple Cider Vinegar a day to fix it.

I don't produce enough stomach acid to digest my food properly... so, I tend to get a "bezoar"... google it, it's an awful thing to have. Basically, it's a food ball that gets stuck in your stomach... kind of like a cat gets a hair ball and has to throw it up. Except, you can't just throw up a food ball... you have to dissolve it somehow... force yourself to digest it.

It's happened to me 3 times in the last 2 years. The last time was the critical one... I thought I was dying. But, all the tests came back NORMAL... they could not see the mass growing in my lower stomach.

Every time the Doctor mentioned something else it could be, I went home and googled it... the info I found on BEZOAR fit my symptoms to a TEE... so, I got to reading what people had to say on several threads... and realized... the pills I was taking, the added fiber he had me taking were all making me worse. The symptoms were classic bezoar symptoms, so why couldn't he diagnose me right? Makes one wonder, huh?
I also learned that Apple Cider Vinegar causes your body to produce more stomach acid... it's also good for your joints...
When I told my doctor what I learned, and told him that I was taking Apple Cider Vinegar... he looked down, and hardly spoke to me.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

WOW - I don't have menstrual problems (Hysterectomy 30 years ago) but find I'm very sluggish every spring. I just don't have much energy. Would the minerals help that?

Raleigh, NC

always remember, bj, what Mom always has said, she was a crack nurse: "50% of all doctors graduated in the lower half of their class."

and no, docs are not taught herbs and holistic meds.

I'm back. taking a break from the dust I'm stirring up.

crissy, Mom has seen so much fighting over what's left when folks get elderly. People can really be stupid. Folks need a will and a living will by the time they are 35 years old. She had an aunt that had a usurper, the jilted girlfriend of her son (mom's cousin), come in when the family wasn't paying attention to Aunt M's needs, and made off with all Aunt M's possessions, including the $350,000 house, signed over legally and all. this gal kept Aunt M on so many pills she was a zombie, because otherwise she was healthy, just scared to death of paperwork and finances! Like was written earlier, every family has a tale.

Mom's been trying for years to figure out a way to prevent us from fighting over inheritance. meanwhile, all us girls are all hoping she'll sell everything and live clutter free and healthier than she does! I am hoping, since I'm the one that rescued Nana's Bible from the fire scene, that they'll let me have that. it's got family history recorded in it.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Barb... the minerals can't hurt you... as long as you don't overdose on them, they're safe as apple pie. ONE OUNCE a day is plenty... can't hurt you to try it.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

I'll tell you guys what after hurting sooooooo bad for so long and not sleeping ,I'll try anything!!!!!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I'll try to get to the health store this weekend. Thanks BJ

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

You're welcome... I hope it helps you both...

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

You can find that Colloidal Minerals in Sam's club for $10. That's the only place I've been able to find it here.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thanks Purpbutfly. My nearest health food store and Sam's is 25 miles from me so I'll check them both out this weekend.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I don't have any clue as to where a health food store is, and I've lived here going on 3 years. I could look it for one in the phone book, but I usually find what I need at Wal-Mart or Sam's.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I haven't been to a Sam's Club since we sold the business... don't even have a card anymore. There's a family owned and operated store next to our $ Tree, and I know they have it... but not for $10... Cindy, that's a very good price.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

evening everyone. stopping real quick to say hi

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

The Minerals are $20-30 here....

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

I googled it and here are some in all different prices.I do a lot of shopping online ,because we live in Hickville and the closest large town that has any kind of stores to pick from are between 45 min. to an hour away. But here is a link to look at http://www.smarter.com/se--qq-colloidal%2Bminerals%2Bliquid.html

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

The second one is the one they have at Sam's club not Wal-Mart.

OK

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

KATHY !!!!.... come back... come back... what's your hurry?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Synda... don't pay any attention to how many minerals they contain... If 60 minerals are more affordable than 74 minerals, then get the 60. Of course, if you know enough about medicine, and can tell what part each play in our health and well being... go for it... but I've bought bottles of every number of minerals out there, and I get the same results... I don't know which ones of those minerals make me feel better, I just know something in that bottle does the job.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, and also.. I wanted to say... 20 years ago, they came in really pretty bottles... like an upscale wine bottle... Today's bottles are really ugly.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Yep all things that used to come in glass are now coming in plastic.
