Bj it will a total of 3 cups zuke, 3 cups sugar. 4 eggs etc. You are just going to change Linda's amount to my amount. I usually put a raspberry sauce on mine after it cools. And they do freeze great. I also put one half the batter in a regular bread pan and the other half into small bread pans. Those bake at a shorter period. They will be like little individual breads great for gifts and lunches.

I'm going to try it this year with using Splenda so some can make it that are diabetic, like my sister and some of you.

The zuke chips are great with a cucumber dip or a tomato dip.

Crissy-grits work too-they eat the dry grits, then if you have water someplace, they drink the water and then explode!!LOL I have huge ant colonies and get a little sick when I find them-the larva thingies REALLY gross me out!!

LK its a very long story but will do my best to keep it short. Over thanksgiving of 2007 Tony was having what we thought were growing pains because he has always been short and he had started to stretch out a bit. They went away and we thought nthing more of it after about a month. Then again infeburary of 2008 they started back up again but were so bad he was walking very strangly and was in pain enough that the teacher called saying he was crying from walking to lunch. I called his doctor and from there it was a whirlwind. We were told it was not growing pains and that he needed to go immediately to the hospital for a ct scan. This found that he had several lesions on his bones, a major infection on his hip and a fractured tilbone due to one of the leions being on it and causing it to compress and fracture. They did a total of 3 biopsy's / 1 on his hip, 1 on his leg and the last was one on his skull right near his temple. they were doing the biopsy because they believed he had Histiocytosis which is a blood disease that requires chemo for treatment but the only way to get the diagnosis is to get a bone fragment to verify thats what it is and the results kept commming back negative even after we called and had 2 other doctors who specialize in Histio go over and test them.

He was in the hospital for 5-6 days each week, blood work daily, so many ct scans and mri's we lost count. He was put into a wheel chair and told he couldnt get ut of it unless absolutely nescassary so I stepped away from work and Max went to work, as I was a emotional mess and couldnt function telling everyone all day long what was happening in the barbershop where I was working. He was put inoto home schooling with his teacher omming to the house twice a week from there out because we couldnt chance anything happening to him at school.

Tony truly is a brave boy and did very well through it all except for all the needles made him scream and cry for the first 2 months which of course made me crazy. We were preparing for a final biopsy (would have been the 4th) to try to confirm his diagnosis so they could start him on chemo and they canceled it about 10 minutes in. The lesion in his hip had began healing and a few of the others had dissapeared completely. So the doctors kept an eye on him and within 2 weeks of the aparent healing he was on crutches then a month later he was off the crutches and back to his normal self. He ws realeased from th edoctor the day before his birthday last year and went in about once or twice a month to get new xays and scas to check his progress on his bones and to be sure th elesions are still healing. Will be a year april 21st that he was realeased and its time for that final check up..

He is praying he will be allowed to get back into sports of some kind but always is worried anytime he has the slightest pain in any of his joints or bones. He really was trooper for being so young he was stronger than his momma.. I was a mess and it really made me question everything in life.. Mostly my faith for a long time because I was soo angry but in time that too faded away. I had no choice but to beleve that it was going to be ok and once Ilet go of my hate about what was happening he began healing..

Its amazing how something like this brings to light what really is important in life.. Just so glad its over now and we can move on with our lives..

I read here awhile back something about Cream of Wheat will do the trick. OH MAN!!! I was so mad Saturday morning I open the cover on the hot tub and it was covered with ANTS!!! They were floating in it too!!!! So as soon as this nasty wind settles down Rick has to get out there and clean it.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Morning everyone...... Recipes all sound good....zukes are the best very small, sliced into a hot cast iron skillet with a little butter and cooked quickly until just lightly browned on the outside.

Jaye you take care....we cannot have you getting sick on us ! The rest of us do enough of that.

Definitely wish all our misplaced Sistahs would check in......

Haven't heard anything on our guys yet today.....always look at it as no news is good news...

I have an eye appointment a seven thirty tomorrow morning.......I have floaters that look like little sheets of gelatin floating around in my right eye....last night there were lots of little black threads floating with it....is really scary as this is the same eye that I had the detached retina a few years ago and I Do Not want to go through that again.....

One bit of good news....a friend of my sisters who travels a great deal is giving her enough frequent flier miles to come home for a visit....she has to buy the ticket today so we should know soon when she will be coming back.

Going over to Laura's a little later and finish getting Sages room in order then when we pick Sage up from school will come over here and work on the studio for awhile...

Donna so happy for you guys!!! Sounds like things are finally going right for you!!

I know I have asked a lot in the prayer department in the past 24 hours but I do have one more.....the business where Bill works is in great need of a new web site and someone to keep it updated, they also need a new shipping and receiving person....Bill is giving his boss resumes for both Laura and Sean today...I don't know if he will go for it with two of our family already working there....but it would be one of the best things in the world if they would hire Laura, and icing on the cake if they would hire Sean too!!! Steady jobs with benefits, no working until midnight, and really good people to work for.....would be good for us too as Sean and Laura said they would hire me to take Sage to and from school and keep her until they got off work....with all they have been through I am just hoping this is the start of good things for a change....

Rain is coming back today....so it will be a good day to get some things done inside....trying to get a headache so guess I should stop trying to read and go find some pain meds...everyone have a good day, talk to you later........

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Trisha-will keep my fingers crossed for Laura & Sean!!!

Donna-WOW-what a brave little boy!!!!!!!!!

Whew these threads move fast. Glad to see my sistahs. I've had the crud. Missed seeing Riley yesterday. Had to call Greg and tell him not to stop by on their was back home from Ashley's mom's house in Tifton. That bought killed me.

Look what I got in the mail Sat! Kim (Dimmer) sent a box load of things and among them ear plugs! LOL Ain't that just like our Flamingo Kim? Kim thank you. There's a box of electrical plugs stoppers, door knob guards and cabinet locks, also, a box of baby bottles which are the perfect kind Riley uses, burp cloths which we can't get enough of, a teething ring, and a bottle brush. Thank you Kim! This has been the bestest ever surprise party I've ever had!

AW!! I want another grand baby :( But SIL says no!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Checking in! Baby sat the granddaughters until 3'ish then their Mom came home and they are off to Tampa. They are going to visit their aunt who is getting married this December and just enjoy their spring break. I will baby sit again Friday. Now I have to rotate the laundry and think about dinner. Son coming over here to eat since his wife and daughters are out of town. Hummm, maybe if I am lucky he will help me dig some holes so I can plant some things that desperately need to go into the ground. Low 70's with a slight nip in the air but otherwise just beautiful outside.

Jaye, I certainly hope you aren't messing around with this sinus thing. No fun indeed.

All the talk about zukes makes me hungry! I like to saute them in a little olive oil and sprinkle with garlic. Sometimes will throw some yellow squash in with them but not necessarily. I have had pickles--oh my!!! My late MIL used to make those and oh are the something special. Atleast her's were.

Hoping all the family is doing okay Trisha. Will keep in my prayers.

Well, need to run rotate the clothes.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

me too!!!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Awwww... I want to hold her !!! Please Nana? ADORABLE.

How wonderful is that gift ... I didn't even think of those safety things to send... but every Nana needs them... Yep, Deb... you're about set for when Riley's toddling around your house.

Well, sistahs... I feel like a farmer now !!! I've never grown veggies before, so this really feels kind of strange... but I have Big Tomatoes and Cherry Tomatoes, Zucchini (enough to feed the neighborhood), Banana peppers, Jalapeno Peppers (yes Audrey, they're not planted near one another), onions, carrots, and radishes. And, I still have a little space in 3 different rows for more things... so, I'm off to Lowes to see what else I want to grow.
PLUS... we went to Home Depot this morn to get wood for closing in the carport ceiling (which means Don won that argument)... and they had NO strawberry pots... NADA... and the only two strawberry plants they had left were about dead... so, I hope I can find those at Lowes too.

Coushatta, LA

Jaye, if you have a sinus infection you need to go and get a shot or two too clear it up.Take care and get well.

Why Women Are Crabby

We started to 'bud' in our blouses at 9 or 10 years old only to find that anything that came in contact with those tender, blooming buds hurt so bad it brought us to tears. So came the ridiculously uncomfortable training bra contraption that the boys in school would snap until we had calluses on our backs.

Next, we get our periods in our early to mid-teens (or sooner). Along with those budding boobs, we bloated, we cramped, we got the hormone crankies, had to wear little mattresses between our legs or insert tubular, packed cotton rods in places we didn't even know we had.

Our next little rite of passage was having sex for the first time which was about as much fun as having a ramrod pushed up your uterus through your nostrils (IF he did it right and didn't end up with his little cart before his horse), leaving us to wonder what all the fuss was about.

Then it was off to Motherhood where we learned to live on dry crackers and water for a few months so we didn't spend the entire day leaning over Brother John . Of course, amazing creatures that we are (and we are), we learned to live with the growing little angels inside us steadily kicking our innards night and day making us wonder if we were preparing to have Rosemary's Baby.

Our once flat bellies looked like we swallowed a whole watermelon and we peed our pants every time we sneezed. When the big moment arrived, the dam in our blessed Nether Regions invariably burst right in the middle of the mall and we had to waddle, with our big cartoon feet, moaning in pain all the way to the ER.

Then it was huff and puff and beg to die while the OB says, 'Please stop screaming, Mrs. Hearmeroar. Calm down and push. Just one more good push' (more like 10), warranting a strong, well-deserved impulse to punch the %$#*@*#!* hubby and doctor square in the nose for making us cram a wiggling, mushroom-headed 10 pound bowling ball through a keyhole.

After that, it was time to raise those angels only to find that when all that 'cute' wears off, the beautiful little darlings morphed into walking, jabbering, wet, gooey, snot-blowing, life-sucking little poop machines.

Then come their 'Teen Years.' Need I say more?

When the kids are almost grown, we women hit our voracious sexual prime in our early 40's - while hubby had his somewhere around his 18th birthday..

So we progress into the grand finale: 'Menopause', the Grandmother of all womanhood. It's either take HRT and chance cancer in those now seasoned 'buds' or the aforementioned Nether Regions, or, sweat like a hog in July, wash your sheets and pillowcases daily and bite the head off anything that moves.

Now, you ask WHY women seem to be more spiteful than men, when men get off so easy, INCLUDING the icing on life's cake: Being able to pee in the woods without soaking their socks...

So, while I love being a woman, 'Womanhood' would make the Great Gandhi a tad crabby. You think women are the 'weaker sex'? Yeah right. Bite me..

Linda, check the Garden Watchdog if I remember right they are associated with a company that doesn't have a good reputation. I got a catalog from and pitched after checking it out.

I think I ordered from them and after planting everything they died or were already dead when I received them
