Those are beautiful camellia shots! And the iris & crocus as well. Thanks for the tip, Shelley---I guess I'll bury him somewhere--he had a lovely coat, sort of like a plush German Shepherd! Loved the photos of the Scottish Fold cats---I've never seen one.
Garden photos of '09.....#10
Redchic, I am avoiding looking at your Camellia pictures, too tempting. I know some would grow here. Not going there. Patti
Patti I love all your crocus very pretty! The one I posted is supposed to be Ruby Giant. I planted, I think 200 purple vernus from a bloomingbulbs co-op last year. The foliage is up - so hopefully those will give me a show soon. :) I had also got Saffron Crocus.Their foliage came up in fall and is still there, although it appears to be yellowing now - didn't get blooms from them though. I guess it is normal for those to take year to bloom. I also have some new pink and yellow Dafs - but I planted them very late for here, there is no sign of them yet. Hopefully they make it. Fingers are crossed. :)
Patti I just ordered 'Romance" and am so happy I did!! Thank you for sharing!!!!
Thanks Robin! The SF's are definitely odd looking cats! Evey now and then I look at my cat and just ask her.... her in the world did you get the all of oddities of both breeds? she just stares at me and purres! I know that you would've tried the shovel with or without me mentioning it. lol. At least it was a cute mouse I guess.
Thanks Patti..... if it helps any at all.... those camellias are growing in a coldframe greenhouse.
Meredith, I had a saffron crucus that made it past the gophers for a couple of years. I loved it. It's well worth the wait! That collage is great! especially the one called Romance. I really like that one.
Thanks Bill! Isn't your nandina evergreen? Mine hasn't put on any new growth yet either, if that helps. THe leaves are still red from the winter weather.
I'm glad to hear that you were only a foot and half away Victor. I was thinking that you had a P & S that could get that clear of a shot from maybe 5'. I'll I could think of was.... that's just not fair or right!!! lol. So, what sort of Point and shoot does a pro with a SLR choose?
hi shelly - the leaves that the deer did not eat are still there on the nandina although not so red as they were.
ahhh..... Thos D@#$ deer!!!!
Pro?!! Ha ha. I wish. The p&s is the one I've had for a few years - Sony H1. My nandina leaves in that shot were also older ones from the winter. Deer have never touched mine.
Thought I would get some work done outside today but it's crazy windy. Also too wet for planting. Tomorrow will be a biggie - JM's and ferns.
Got a few pics a few minutes ago. Hyacinth starting.
Hyiasinths look good ours are just starting.
great Pics! I love that hellebore. Ok.... How many hellebores do you have currently? lol
good grief Victor. Even your point and shoot camera is pretty stacked for what it is!! Do you have a problem with red colors being too saturated?
that's funny Allison! I love those tree/shrubs. I hope that one day, before I die, mine will be large enough that I could actually make a walking stick or some other art work out of it!
Love Harry's contortions. Yes, Shelly, it does have problems with certain colors - blues & purples sometimes look like each other, reds and pinks, and, especially, coral or salmon colors. Even the slr is not as good as I would like in that respect.
Is there a good way to fix this? I had only "heard" of that problem on when I was trying to figure out why red colors on my camera always "glowed". By the time I get the saturation, noise, and contrast (just low saturation doesn't cut it) down low enough that that the red doesn't glow, the other colors are almost black and white!!
Not easy. My slr has many more options to correct white balance than a p&s does, and I am still not satisfied. Best way is a good program like Photoshop. You have to be able to split up the red, green and blue and adjust individually.
Everyone can post as many crocus pics as they can, since I don't have any, I love seeing them.
RC, I also LOVE that primula in post 6325921 and 6325923 and that camelia posts 6338978 and 6338979, I don't know how I missed those pics before
I was thinking that you would say that, unfortunately. I know that photoshop is great, but I don't want to move up to that yet. sometimes editing a picture becomes more of a project than a picture! Someday, probably when I get a DSLR!!
Thanks Jen! Don't feel bad, I miss things all the time.
nice shot's victor - pink color day
Thanks. Yes, I've been saying that for a while now too, Shelly. One of these days I will get it. But I don't want to spend too much time playing with it after the fact too.
That's one of the reasons I keep putting it off.
Shelly, the waterfall you posted on the previous thread was absolutely stunning! Amazing!
Nice shots of your hiking spot by the dam, Robin. I would love hiking around there.
Shelly, I love the shot of the meconopsis leaves with all the dew on them. Really cool. Oh, I purchased some double primulas at HD just yesterday like the one you bought, but not quite as luscious as that. I will have to look around for that color. Yummy!!!! The tag says it's hardy to -40? Sounds more like it would be a perennial rather than an annual.
Karen
Very nice, Deb! Congrats.
Victor I am envious of all your blooms! Very nice photos. : )
Very pretty daff Deb - do you know which kind it is?
yeah for the daff!
Yay for you!!
Very nice, Allison! You're on the ground!!
