I would need my mouth sewn up if I quit smoking now
Garden photos of '09.....#10
But the food DOES taste better! Thats the problem! I gained 20 pounds in all...have lost 7. Never thought i'd say this but thank goodness for that flu! lol
Thats what got me started and simultaneously DD was on an office "biggest looser" contest and showed me the Livestrong website where I could track daily calories.
My DD is going to Weight Watcher's...she's lost 15 pounds and feels great! I'm very proud of her.

Ha, I lost 5 pounds this month due to the flu, and I'm still down 4. I just have to keep remembering what it felt like, maybe then I won't eat. Not!
I am still sick, but unfortunately I think I have lost little weight. Congratulations to all of you who have had some success.
I will probably drop a few when I begin to seriously work in the yard again. Pouring hard today, so I am inside being a couch potato. Or what do we call someone sitting in a chair firming attached to their lap computer with DG up in as I currently am with 4 tabs open to Davesgarden and two others to plant vendors?
I have a huge problem coming up as we are going back to New Orleans in April for 10 days to visit our DS. No doubt we will be doing some serious eating while there. Patti
Great pics!
I have the same bird feeder - the birds have figured out how to balance by sitting on the other side. Totally amazes me.
I put on ALOT of weight after I quit smoking [will be 9 years in July], but I'd rather have the weight than the constant cough, the damage to myself and those around me, the real risk of cancer [lung, throat, mouth], the stink of it [it amazed me that I smelled so disgusting, like a giant ash tray] and then finally the cost! So good for you Celeste!!!
Great hellebore shots, Shelly! Wonderful lighting.
Congrats to those who lost weight. Keep going! Weight gain is still better than smoking! Saw too many relatives, first-hand, die from lung cancer. Not to mention all the other effects. Horrible skin as they aged, circulation problems, breathing difficulties, etc. My former primary doc was a pulmonologist. I had to change - not because there was anything wrong with him - but because it was so depressing waiting in his office. People with tanks, weezing as they waited. Horrible voices. At least three times an ambulance had to come. Ugh.
OMG How awful.
Yes - it was not fun. Did not mean to be a downer on a beautiful photo thread!
Yes it was aweful, but I guess in an odd way it's inspiration as well? That's also what worked for me, not the doctors office, but all the relatives and the effects on them. Wasn't pretty. Even just a couple of months ago my aunt came down with lung cancer and she didn't even smoke..... but her husband did. He then quit.
Congrats Anita and Pixie! That's great. I know many folks who've gained more than 20. So I guess it could be worse.
Jo Ann.... Keep up the good work!
my own version of a "star" for good work!!
thanks RC
Its a steady soaking raintoday, glad I moved the heuchera Prince of Silver and a Japanese painted fern.
Congrats Jen - nice!
I have tulips, irises, lilies (both day and asiatic), campanula, foxglove, monarda, aquilegia and sedum all showing green.
I just wish they were "en masse" but they are very scattered throughout the various gardens. (At least I know what I need to plant this fall.)
Patience!
I love the 'bug eyes view'!
Ugh......... I WANT IT NOW!!!!
Nice photos, all---the shot of the grackles cracked me up---very smart! After I raked the leaves off the largest per. garden, I found crocus---of course it rained today, but I'll get a shot tomorrow---also the wood hyacinths are budded---only 2 left out of a whole flock---also found a pretty, furry mouse-like critter dead in the garden---could be my bulb eater---he's still there---I just can't pick him up.
Flowerjen, I can't wait to see your 'woodstock' as I have been tempted by it, but never have seen one in a garden setting. Please post it when it opens up more too.
It is raining hard again, but when I went out to see what was up during a lull, I was surprised to find the crocus and reticulated iris holding up fine. I have a new one out today too, Iris reticulata 'Marquerite'. Very sweet blue and white one that I got on sale from Brent and Becky last year. It was a pricey one. Another early narcissus is about to pop. It has an interesting stovepipe form, N. 'Small Talk' from the same B&B sale @ 10 for 4.00. Best of all today, I finally figured out that a loved patch of crocus is C. 'Blue Pearl' which I thought hadn't come up for the last two years. duh! And the other shot is of Iris reticulata 'Purple Gem' standing up to the deluge. Patti
Nice iris, Patti.
yeah if Jen has all those flowers ... some of my things will be up soon!!!
but very nice shots all... I love all these photos!
Patti... those are all pretty, but I love that iris Purple gem. I has great color!
Victor.... I'm even jealous of your point and shoot camera! You took that from out your window.... how far away from the nandina were you?
Robin.... glad that I'm not the only one still getting around to leaves!! Shovel works great for the mouse.
Everything looks great you guys
I have 1 scilla about to bloom and others comong on.Bulbs planted last year. I hope I am around to see the cloud of blue in 10 years.
Nice crocus, Meredith! Great shots, Shelly. Gorgeous Camellia. The nandina is about 1 1/2 feet away.
very nice shots all
I never get tired of crocus's....be glad when SOMETHING blooms here!!

zone envy - my nandina has not started yet.
meredith nice crocus shot - don't worry post as they bloom!! I'm going too!
Meredith79, I love those dark crocus almost the most. I am waiting on one to bloom called Crocus vernus 'Twilight' which is very dark and late, but totally magical. I planted another hundred of them last fall from Van Engelen.
Here is a collage including a sweet one yellow with white edges called 'Romance' that I took yesterday between down pours, along with 'Cream Beauty' , the little white one called 'Ard Schenk' and a small, but bright 'Goldilocks'. Patti
