Sharran! SO glad to "see" you here!

I think we're out of the worst of it...although Storm warnings still hitting the TV...and Crissy is right....there was not a confirmed tornado....BUT if you could see the pictures of the things I've seen today...you would know something came through there.... entire glass walls out on high rises, tree's knocked over...I counted at least 6 metal street lights down on my way in....

Janice, did she cut the squares, then wash it. Or did she wash the whole piece before she cut it.
Prewashing the whole piece of fabric should not have kept it from fraying. Now if she cut the little squares, then washed them, before she sewed them together, that may have made a difference. But I think it still should have frayed, after she snipped it. How close together are the snips. Mine were like 1/4 inch apart. And as close to the sewn seam as possible.

I told DH worried about this weekend. Band Booster Jambalaya Sale 10a-2p Saturday and MIL B-Day for nephews (including DS) Sunday....I might have to squeeze my "PLaying in the dirt" in there somewhere.....

But I absolutely HAVE to plant something this weekend!

Tubby, I did...and yes it works like a charm!!! Thank you so much. And tomorrow I am going to try it on my knees too because don't you know I kneeled right down in the mud just like I knew what I was doing. Soaked right through my jeans and into every wrinkle I had in my knees!!!

At least I didn't get my elbows in it.

Well she should.....a friend of my mom's that she taught school with had two daughters....they both wanted Grandma's Quilt...well that obviously couldn't happen...so Woody to a quilting class that was given at one of our Church Events and he made a quilt identical to the one his mother had made and gave it to the other daughter for Christmas. Talk about special....a lot of us have quilts our grandmothers made, but how many have a quilt their Father made?

Mine were made by my Aunt and Uncle....she did the piecing and he did the quilting....they had a quilting business for awhile....I sure would like to have inherited the quilting machine.

EVERYONE, do hope weather is calm in your areas and you are all ok..will be watching my monitor closely to see you all post and know all is well with the world again, at least in your world..

LindaKay, don't you think that cotton doesn't fray quite as much as the flannel does..she did the 1/2" and did clip close to the tripple sewn seam...know you do have to wash 2 or 3 times to get the best effect..glad it turned out..someone will be thrilled..

I can't stay up as late as you all...that being said, I was at painting class and got all the daisies done to step 1 in oils..2 more steps..if I was a smart cookie I'd bring it to work again and try and finish it so next week I'd not have to go to class....

Talk when I get to work..lol have to go in search of some early birds to join me so I have someone to gab to..lol..do love your talks though...

Yup LK-Betty said it-triple stitched and close to the seam-I think it ragged well for the most part-I just thought I was doing something wrong as I had to wash it 3 times to get it to rag right-but if that is the way it goes, then all is well-as for the clipping, I dunno-some were 1/4", some a little more, some 1/2"-so I will go smaller this time and see if that helps too....

Had a restless night. Weather was bad, but not severe! Didn't sleep well and my youngest wound up in the bed with me. He had a restless night, too! Right now, it is just really dark outside, but no rain.

I am trying to think of a garden craft I could do at night. I used to do beaded jewelry, but lost all my supplies to Katrina. Thinking about starting again. I also thought about starting to do some beaded clothing. I could make a few pieces for me and then take orders if someone wanted to buy something. Or it could just be to make Christmas presents for female family members. Give me some input, please!

Company coming this afternoon..DBIL & DW DSIL..And their 4 legged Kids..All three big furies..Sure glad they all get along..LOL
And aren't happy unless they romping & stomping at our feet..They don't want go off and play..If you talk and pet one they all attack ya..LOL

One of us is going to go get DMIL..We don't like her driving..She dozes off..Usually on her way home. Not always but better safe than sorry..

Love the company..But I can't get much done. I want to be a good host.

Julie, I've never beaded but Judy does a lot of it..when she pops in I'm sure she'll have some ideas..as in a previous thread I mentioned people drop things off to me they no longer use...when you are using them on material I imagine they have to be miniature.. know I had some sort of beads..would you like me to look, show you a photo and if you want them I can post them to you? Glad you are safe and not affected by the storm...lot's going on in your family, am sure the children are feeling it.nothing like snuggling up and feeling safe in the arms of mom..

Talking of crafts..Diane last night at supper was telling me she wants to clean a lot of her wood pieces and yep, you guessed where they are going...

then there was a call (which reminds me I must call her today) from my girlfriend Anne, she has a cottage down the road from me, guess she's coming up this weekend...said she had all kinds of pattern books and pattern packets and wondered if she could drop them off...

Guess my weekend will be to re-organize the craft room book shelf, throw away things I don't want, make room for pattern books...when I spoke to Darlene we decided that once we take everything out of the craft room to do floors and walls, we'll make another wall unit to house more books...always somethng on the go right?

Off I go, must make that call..

OMG LOVE it Julie!!

We had storms last night too, off and on all night long, didn't get much sleep. About 8:00pm I turned on the tv and saw a tornado warning in Pope County, which is about 2 hours due west of me, and the sucker was headed due east. Of course I start panicking and shaking and the whole nine yards, text Dave at work that I was scared and needed to be calmed down, text my next door neighbor and told her I was scared, she cracked up and told me unless it's within 20 miles of the house don't worry about it, asked me if my storm radio was on which it was, told me to quit watching it, go to bed and worry about it when it gets here because 99% of the time they either change directions or fizzle. Well, I did go to bed, in my clothes lol, and it did keep it's direction and come directly over the house, but by the time it got to me it was just a rainstorm, not even any lightning.

It's supposed to get bad today, and with the sun out right now it's not looking good. The only thing we do have for us is the wind is blowing from west to east and not from the south. They have downgraded the tornado threat too. I can handle thunderstorms, even severe thunderstorms, but not tornadoes, I freak out.

I am so tired I showed up for work physically lol! I was up until 1 with either a thunderstorm waking me up or a very hyper cat wanting to attack!

Know it's not nice to laugh Cindy, but I am, not at you but with you..just know how frightened you are and DH and neighbor trying to calm you down...can see you laying in bed, listening to every noise or gust of wind..

You must be tired today..count the hours, it's Friday, you'll soon be home and can have a nap....or a drink..hey, best I ship you my bottle of bourbon...that would mellow you out!
