Does he have a name????
Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today? #95visit with friends..
Good evening! Got my desk cleared and all caught up on work WoooooHoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I skimmed some of the posts to catch up.
Betty I figured the hurricanes would be fizzled by the time they get up to you. We're expecting very bad weather Friday, a severe storm outbreak that includes numerous tornadoes.
I know how frightened you are of them Crissy and I'm so glad you have the shelter..honestly, was just kidding, if I had to pick between life and death, guess underground for a few hours wouldn't be bad...you just take care..now when these warning are given, is it up to the individual to either go to work or stay home? How's DH's job going...
Barb, you made me laugh, no it wasn't a man, but some days wish it was...
I so want to take a bath, tired tonight but Aline and Tom are coming at 6:30 to take measurements for the washroom closet and look at the existing cupboard and zinc.....
As Stacey will surely attest, lot's of work needs to be done in this old house..think it was a bit of a shock for Stacey, I hadn't thought of that..you see, when I found myself without a place to live and less than $30.00 in my pocket it was overwhelming, unless you would have seen what I bought (boys were shocked) you'd not know how much work I've done on my own..each week/month and year I get more accomplished... I forget about people coming thinking I still live in the type of home I've been accustomed to...
My ideas will be another step towards finishing the washroom..so nice to have good friends..as I explained to Stacey, don't have a hubby but all my friends lend me theirs when I need something that I can't do on my own!
As far as this trompe l'oeil project (closet door) I guess if I really had to I could do it myself..I'll save my talents for something else..lol
OMG just got a call from Darlene to tell me that Helen's husband dropped in this morning and left me 3 boxes of books....2 for painting and 1 with quilt books...browsed through a few..absolutely fantastic especially the magazines called "Quiltmania' think it's a UK magazine..just counted the quilt books not all 'quiltmania, some called Patchwork quilts..guess no going to bed early tonight..have to leaf through some of them...then dream of something made that's cozy and warm...
Betty, look at all those nice books and magazines! Bet you will be busy for a bit?
Tom and Aline just left, I'm in the basement feeding animals, will take a pile of books to bed with me and see just how long before I fall asleep..
Two things will happen, as I grin, either I'll fall asleep within minutes or the projects will so interest me that my adrenaline will be going and I'll be up all night..best not do that, tomorrow is my painting night on my panel for the table and I won't get home until 11pm..
Poor Tom, he's got his square checking to see if wall are square, he says they are off, Aline says they are square and me, I just smile..lordy, just wanted a simple wood door to paint and he's come up with 20 ideas...so, knowing that my door (sshhhh) is never locked he said he'll finish up what he has on the go and come and do my project....won't have it to start painting this weekend so must find something else to keep me occupied..
Drats, Sailor is tooting...have to go upstairs or I'll be gagging...
Hope you've had a sunshine day..I'm off either to sleep or read...
night/night
Lord willing, we'll talk tomorrow..
Night Betty, enjoy your reading!
LK
Betty's house was very cute and homey-the only thing I said was the outside wasn't what I expected-because she is always taking about going upstairs, I thought it was 2 story, and I thought more of a painted gingerbread exterior, but hers is very modern with siding and new windows and all...OMG-under my bed was a BEAUTIFUL crane-it was almost 3' tall and made out of STAINED glass!!!!! It was so pretty!!! Betty could have easily sold it for about $500!!!! The only thing I saw that needed to be done was the doors which is the next thing on Betty's list anyway-she does have a beautifully paneld bathroom-not sure if it is oak or what, but so pretty-and of course there is a TON of Betty painted originals in the house!!
Trisha-those shrooms I got are almost 12" tall and were about $5 each-VERY heavy-so the price couldn't be beat-you would spend more than that on clay for them!!LOL It might work if you used something like a rock or a pot or a chunk of cement for the inside and sculpted clay around it...
Barb-I LOVE the name-Sir Lintalot-perfect!!
Hello All;
I'm glad Stacey & Betty had a good visit...and Stacey made it back home okay.
Crissy - we're supposed to be in the tornado watch area as well....I'll be wishing for your shelter!
Have a big presentation to give at work tomorrow....so I'll be a good little girl with a 11p strict bedtime.
DS's English teacher called and I had to get him to finish the research paper he was supposed to turn in. I'm so frustrated with him. The fact that she was as well shows me what a good teacher she must be. He can be frustrating.
Oh - off to play tennis today as always....and then I find out he should've been doing the paper.
I wish I could motivate him!
Oh well - back later,
Hugs,
Mary
Take his tennis racket away?
No Tennis , no fun stuff till all assignments are done......?
I can do Stacey sized Mushrooms in pottery if I can get them fired...I have the clay.....
Polymer will be a bit more expensive even with the filler cores I use....will have to see how it works out....for now, smaller versions....I didn't have have Stacey's picture to follow while waiting for Laura at the Doctors office....this my 4-5" off the cuff version.....
Hey Sharran!
I was just thinking of you! Away putting Pandora on.
You are right....I'm thinking....as long as homework not done.....NO tennis. It will get hard to enforce though when he has a match...he's co-captain of the High School tennis team.
But that's just his old softy mom talking and you know that.
What have you been up to today? Good day for you I hope. :)
He's a cutie Trisha !!!
Now that I have the picture to follow....I could do that.....
Trisha very good Talented you are.Cool
TY, it's fun, keeps me off the streets...
HA ! Trisha !
Okay - Goodnight All ! Not a big Chat night tonight. My big question is - I have a huge amount of parsley I harvested...what do I do with it?
Hugs,
Mary
Dry it and put i in and on everything....! That is what I have been doing with mine:)
Has been a bit quiet tonight hasn't it ?
Sorry...meant to chat, too, but had a long phone call instead.
I am so sorry I missed you.
Maybe tomorrow.
And you all have a good day too.
Great mushroom, Trisha.
You are making me want to get my polymer out too.
Maybe I'll do that in the next day or two, but I usually have soil under my nails and in my skin from the garden, so gardening time and clay time don't always work well together.
Yes - very quiet - I'm about to head to bed.
I'm just wondering if I should freeze it.....
Going to Bed. Telling DS to get Homework done before allowed to do tennis. Goodnight!
Mary, I dried some and froze some......nothing like sitting on the fence..
Couldn't do that Sharran, so I just keep a lot of soap and a good scrub brush on hand...
Have to be at a memorial service at 9 in the morning....why couldn't they make it a bit later?
Probably had to conform to a funeral director's schedule.
That happens sometimes.
With your clay, have you ever made canes that faces in them? They are so fun to do.
Never have done any kind of cane work......
If you start with a simple design, it is pretty easy. Faces are a bit complicated, but very fun to do. You can't predict the expressions that you get when you press the pieces together, roll them out, then slice. I'll see if I can find one and send you a photo. They make fun pins and pendants. It is all done with long coils.
Could be interesting....BJ does a lot of cane work.....
Winds are up here this morning, rather chilly, thank goodness winter clothing is still in my closet...all those pretty Florida outfits will have to wait..
Did not have a good nights sleep..did dream all night..thank goodness I'm up and about..now comes the chore of putting all the ooks I flipped through downstairs..omg are there projects I'd love to do..but not! now to find a home for these books..
Mary, when the boys did such things, they'd not only have to complete the paper they were working on but another for us..didn't take them long to get back into line..
I absolutely love your mushroom Trisha..oh my, doesn't take you long to make one does it..
Waving Shar..guess you've 20 things going on right now to keep busy right? you are able to get into your garden and play ?
Listened to the weather this morning, doesn't sound good further south..hope you are all safe..
Crissy you must be fretting, saying prayers...
Hello Bev...how's the gardening going..
Best run, must put those book away, get my project together for tonights class...
Sharran this lady "Xeramtheum" had a contest for the best gardening tip..
Xeramtheum offered 4 different pack's of seed to the winner.
Yotedog enter this tip.She didn't win But you might try it.
Ok..I'll bite...here's my best tip: Before going out to work in the garden, rub about a half to one tablespoon of any cooking oil or rich lotion onto your hands, in your cuticles, and up under your fingernails. I find that olive oil works great--its just the right viscosity. Rub it in enough that the oil does not prevent you from gripping tools etc (if you get too much, just put on some garden gloves until its absorbed).
When you come in from gardening you will find that dirt and stains come off your skin much easier, and that the dirt doesn't stick up under your nails--all is easily washed away with any soap that breaks down the oil. Plus, your hands are moisturized--a real plus if its cold, or if your soil irritates your skin. Also a huge plus if you have red clay that stains your hands, as I do. Even if I wear gloves, I seem to end up with just enough dirt inside the gloves to get up under my nails and into my cuticles--this trick really helps.
I have such dry cracked hands. If i think about it I might try it
Of course that is IF I remember..LOL
Morning all,
Just got caught up on the thread..
So glad Stacey and Betty had a great time doing the things they love.
Wonder-Laura..how is the friendship quilt coming along?
Is that the one you said is out for backing? Your Harley is a cute little thing..must bring you a lot of smiles.
Judy..you have green showing on your rose..nice..I must go out back and check on mine..I didn't mound any of my roses last fall..I decided I am cutting back on the gardening..and it is survival of the fittest. I have mostly Explorer and Morden roses that are hardy. After doing some leaf raking last week my back was sore for several days..so I will let things stay more natural.
Have a good day all.
Trisha the mushroon came out soooo cute. You have such a wonderful talent.
Morning everyone. Trisha, that mushroom is so cute. I can see several of them sitting in your little garden!
LK
Trisha-LOVE the mushroom!! If you want I can take closer up pics of the ones I have and I don't mind saying that I would LOVE some smaller ones!!LOL
Oh-I almost forgot to tell you all my 2nd fave thing about Canada (Betty obviously being the first)-they have signs along the road that say things like "Fatigue kills, take a break" and "tailgating kills, save some space"-there is another one, but I can't remember what it says-but I found them quite entertaining-I took a pic on my way home:)
Oh-an Betty-if there are any on painting techniques or the likes for a novice like me, then I would love a couple....
Who am I sending the pattern to-I fogotted-is it Judy?? And where did you get the roll of tracing paper-all I can find is teeny little pads of it:(
Gosh, I was sick yesterday and have a lot of catching up to do.
That is such a cute mushroom! I collect them to go with my frog collection!
I love this:
"However, if she is
menstruating, or menopausal, she tends to be more attracted to a man with duct
tape over his mouth and a spear lodged in his chest while he is on fire.
No further studies are expected."
At this time in my life, that's how I feel! DH has pulled another fast one. What he doesn't know is that I KNOW! And I didn't even react or bring it up. I'll just let him stew and wonder if I know. It will drive him crazy because he is so used to me shooting off my big mouth as soon as he does something!
I am thinking about starting a class, but it is so hard to plan things right now because I never know when DH will get home from work. When he took the supervisor's position, he was supposed to get off at 4 PM. He has worked to 6 PM and later since the day he took the position. Just wondering if he's really working. I may have to do some PI work and check to see if his truck is still at work one day.
Anyway, I may take a class this summer during the day when my mom can watch the kids for a while. My oldest daughter is too busy working and taking classes that she doesn't have time to watch them for me. But I am so proud of her. I know how hard it is to work and go to school full-time for each! She's doing great!
Love all the chat about what you all craft. I like cross-stitch but did so much for Christmas gifts last year that I don't even want to look at it now. Gotta find something!
Love to all and we are finally getting some rain today.
Julie
Julie-I understand your suspicions, but I know from what my DH does, that when you take a position like that, the "off time" is really more of a target or guideline, and especially when someone is newer to the position, they have to put in a few more hrs...my DH is supposed to work like 50 hrs a week and ends up being more like 55-60....
Foggy out there but mild, think we'll have rain soon..tomorrow is suppose to be almost 'summer' hey, still waiting for spring.
Stacey, yes, Judy is the one who said if you sent it she'd try it..I sent out the 4 yesterday morning so not sure how long it takes for an envelope to travel, most likely it's quick....Missy misses you..lol...and yes, there are a lot of projects you could do...perhaps when inside I'll clean the book cupboard and find a place for them..those I have duplicates I'll set aside for anyone who would like them...
Carol, are you raking the yard or are you taking a chance and raking the gardens..as my door won't be ready for the weekend I thought I might go out and start on a few beds, so much work but if I take one area at a time it will be easier.. does your tractor with the rake help in any way with spring cleaning?
Tubby, thanks for the hint..would you believe I kept waiting for the punch line..will try it though
Someone took my parking place and I've my project to paint on, must get orange daisies done by tonight or I'll be in trouble..lol.. be back in a few..
Stacey, in answer to your question about the giant size roll of paper..
We have a newspaper in Midland..a lot of times they cannot use the remnant that go into the machine for printing..they love to find someone who will take the tubular rolls off their hands..
Off to paint
I was telling Shirley about the oil tip...
She said just wash dishes that works too..LOL
Ya think she's hinting..No I do help with dishes
Much rather do that then COOK..LOL
Betty ??A punch line I can't imaging where you would get that idea..LOL

No Betty, not the reg paper I used, but the tracing paper we used for the butters to start with and the that you use for your patterns for like the cat feeder and such....
Aw-that Missy-I wanted to pack her up too-she was such a sweety!! Slept with me every night-one night I woke up to pee and she was sitting on my pillow staring at me-almost as if she was willing me to wake up!!LOL
Betty-I had to wash my quilt 2 more times to get it to rag better-what would fix that for the next one?? Making a wider seam, cutting further in, cutting further out??
