Tubby - the tears are flowing. That is absolutely beautiful Thank you so much
ok, joining you in the crying Barb.. so touching..
I truly believe my love for everything old (don't go there) comes from a previous lifetime, perhaps I was a USA citizen...everything american, patriotic just stirs within my soul....
Thank you for sharing this 'tubby'
Stacey, you don't have to purchase roll tracng paper you can purchase it by the pad at Walmart..some $$$ stores even carry it...Michaels may have it on the roll..know they have it on the pad as well..look for an art-studio, they will have it..
It does bring on the tears. Thank you Tubby!! BEV
Wiping the tears.
Yes, that's what I am ... Proud to be an American and proud of a son about to enter the Marines.
Stacey would love close ups...always looking for new ideas.
Tubby that was beautiful......
Sorry, have to run, we have to be at a memorial for a former neighbor in half an hour...
Talk to everyone later..
Really Betty?? I just really liked the roll you had that we used-it was larger and easier to get a whole pattern on instead of tracing part on separate pieces of paper and taping them together...but OK if you say so...Trisha-I will get some better pics today for you:)
Hi Bev, what are you up to today...and Scotty is he well?
How much longer before you are able to go to the trailer?
Miss you girl...
Twofewanimals...a warm welcome..how are you today 'sweetie' enjoying spring like temps?
Stacey, when you showed those ladies where the little creatures were, did they pick them all up..think Melanie is going this weekend or next, might have her pick me one up..I know, had one in my hand..why is it we just don't go with our likes and buy the darn thing??? IF there are no more, maybe she can pick the metal butterfly for me...it's my birthday next week you know (just kidding girls) but mom left me another birthday gift forgetting she already bought me a beautiful 2' glass/metal candle holder in Buffalo..hey, you got to try right? lol
Stacey, I traced the pattern for butterfly on bristle board, bent it to put into small envelopes but I'm sure they'll be able to retrace the pattern..not sure if I said this before but I was thinking of reducing the pattern to 75%, then 50% and make 2 smaller ones to put in a clump!
Hi all, I'm a 'lurker' in this forum. I saw Fairy's name once here and so pop in every couple weeks just to see what you are all up too. Hi Stacey, love the shrooms.
I received some plants in a swap yesterday and have to get out today to get them in the ground, so I will be outside soon.
Back to lurking.
toofew
Hey Sharon!!! I am sad you aren't coming to the packing party:(
Betty-I was thinking along the same lines-I was thinking of redusing the pattern by about 50% and then attaching 3 together to make a fluttering pattern and putting the stake in the middle one-does that make any sense for what I see in my mind??
I don't know if that lady took the shrooms or not-but that butter is to die for-If they would've had 2 I would have for sure gotten one-I think about it all the time!!LOL
If you do go to fabricland Betty while the sale is on I would Love a meter of that fabric that I liked-I think it would be the perfect placemats for my dining room.....not sure how to make them, but I am sure someone knows and can show me:) I have been hemmin and hawin, but I do so love it!!!
Stacey Remember you better get 2..LOL
So, Tubbytee, I can throw away my anti-depressants because I think Margaritas are definitely the cure for what ails me! You are just what I need to perk me up! Thanks for keeping us laughing and in tears!
So, some of you are quilting? My mom just finished her 12th quilt since last year. She is making one for all the grandchildren, except for Colt. She said she will make his later and give it to me to put up. His "dear wife" has been known to throw away things we send him. I sent him an antique charm last year that belonged to my dad. Colt was deploying and I wanted him to have it with him. Needless to say, "it got lost in the mail." I know his wife threw it away, but she wouldn't admit it. The month he deployed, "all of the mail got lost" and she didn't pay the bills. He had a mess when he returned home.
Still raining here, but I am blessed to say that we are not getting the severe weather that many others are.
Talk to you later, julie
Toofewanimals...now we know you are lurking you'll have to drop in and say hi...what kind of plants did you get in the swap..you must be further south to be able to plant them now...what is the closest city in Michigan do you live then I can relate to where you live?
Stacey will do, most likely will be in town one of the days the sale is on...drats I so wanted to give you the pattern for placemats done in strip sewing, I'll send it out with material..eash piece is numbered..you'd love it..how come Stacey you didn't encourage me to purchase that large butterfly?
laughing Tubby, you sure got it pegged right, one meter doesn't go far...isn't that what the saleslady and I tried to tell her..
Oh Julie, surely she wouldn't have thrown it away..is something wrong with her mentally?she needs a good shaking that girl..isn't that wonderful that your mom is still able to take on such a tme consuming project to leave to each of them...
No rain here Julie, feels like we could at any time..best get it over with NOW and not the weekend... each and everyday we put in now, less chance of snow...
SNOW Big Flakes ..The man says it will go south of us. Light dusting is all we are suppose to get..You wouldn't think that by looking out the window.

Men Are Just Happier People-- What do you expect from such simple creatures? Your last name stays put. The garage is all yours. Wedding plans take care of themselves. Chocolate is just another snack. You can be President. You can never be pregnant. You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park. You can wear NO shirt to a water park. Car mechanics tell you the truth. The world is your urinal. You never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just too icky. You don't have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt. Same work, more pay. Wrinkles add character. Wedding dress $5000. Tux rental-$100. People never stare at your chest when you're talking to them. New shoes don't cut, blister, or mangle your feet. One mood all the time. Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat. You know stuff about tanks. A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase. You can open all your own jars. You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness. If someone forgets to invite you, he or she can still be your friend.
Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack. Three pairs of shoes are more than enough. You almost never have strap problems in public. You are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes. Everything on your face stays its original color. The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades. You only have to shave your face and neck.
You can play with toys all your life. One wallet and one pair of shoes -- one color for all seasons. You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look. You can 'do' your nails with a pocket knife. You have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache.
You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24 in 25 minutes.
No wonder men are happier.
My husband will Love that one Tubby.....not bad!
Shhhhhhh.....I still like snow.....don't tell.
Stacey if you need large paper for patterns, mom and I go to the local newspaper and they sell their end rolls of news print, huge rolls, for five dollars each.....that is one of the wys we keep Sage in Drawing paper as well a have enough for all of our patterns also!
The paper Trisha she's looking for is tracing paper, I get it by roll, that way you can trace with graphite onto a surface...
No doubt about why men are happy Tubby, they have us...
Oh, Betty, my DIL is a sly one. She was very quiet at first, but things exploded last year. She has since cheated on my son (which is something I have to keep quiet about because they are working things out), but she still has her boyfriend's picture on her myspace page. It used to say "J..., my boy friend." but she has changed it to "J..., my BEST friend." Oh, I've said too much. Shame on me!
My mom has rheumatoid arthritis and she is just an inspiration to me that she continues to do as much as she can. When my oldest daughter got her quilt, she wrapped it around her and said, "It smells like Maw-Maw!" My mom gave my niece (who has moved in with me) her quilt last week. When Amber covered up with it that night, she said, "It smells like Maw-Maw!" I told my mom what they said and she just laughed and cried at the same time. Too bad we can't bottle that smell forever!
love to all, julie
Okay, had to make one more plea, oops!, I mean post before I go for the day!
Give me some ideas for hobbies that I can do at night while watching TV. That's the only free time I have. I am no artist! I can draw stick people, but that's about it.
love, julie
Betty, where do you get the tracing paper by the roll? Probably at a fancy art store that we don't have here?
froggies girl, your Mom made 12 quilts in one year? Wow! That is a lot of work!!!
twofewanimals, I say thank for your son, for joining the Marines. I know you will worry about him, but I will send lots of prayers with him. We would not have an America to come home to, if it were not for all the troops!
I can read, cross stitch, paint, clip, just about anything while watching TV, so I don't think I will be of much help:(
Betty-that would be great-THANKS!!! I am sorry-I don't know why I didn't FORCE you to get the butterfly!!LOL You don't think 1 meter will be enough for 4 placemats?? Whatever you think-I trust your judgement...I am not sure if you saw this, but I had asked this a few posts up:
"Betty-I had to wash my quilt 2 more times to get it to rag better-what would fix that for the next one?? Making a wider seam, cutting further towards the seam, cutting further out??"
I have been busy!! I washed and ironed fabric, washed dishes, swept the kitchen floors, changed sheets, am doing laundry, vaccuming, prepping dinner, getting packages ready to mail, still have to clean bathrooms, put away some dcorations left over from Xmas (I know-hello it is March!!LOL) and take care of a few odds and ends
Betty and Ya'll, you are too funny, you're not in a storm shelter for hours, your in it for Minutes, 10 minutes at the most.
I'll share my storm shelter with anyone who wants to come over and adult sit me, it holds 12 adults. We could have a slumber party, Dave works all night!
I'm at work taking a break, didn't come on last night because we had thunderstorms passing by and Dave was awake because of them so I wanted to sit and talk to him, and do some embroidery. I'm really going to have to hustle on those pillow cases, I'm lagging because I love talking to all of you, and I'm not talented enough to multi-task lol!
Betty Cindy And LeeAnn are pretty girls
Did Cindy's arm get tired holding up that light..LOL
Stacey I knew you would need 2 meters..LOL
Betty, beautiful Girls and Beautiful Flowers!!!
Julie, I am in front of the TV most nights, only way I get to see my husband.....used to knit or crochet....fall and winter it was Victorian Santa's now it is all polymer clay and my lap top.....put my instructions on my computer and a lap tray with my clay and goodies and I do okay.....the cat gets miffed and has started sleeping on DH's lap at night...which he is happy about, she wouldn't have anything to do with him before.....
Stacey, I don't know how wide your seam was, but for a rag quilt to be really ragged, the seam should have been at least 1/2 inch. That will make the rag part of it turn out really nice.
LK, how about a 5/8 seam?
My surgery is set for April 1, unless my cardioligist wont OK it. They're going to try to get me into rehab for 3 weeks, because of my health. If not, they'll come to me!
It did have a 1/2" seam-Betty had a seam measure sewing guide thingy mabober-it just didn't rag as well as like the purse I have....
Just popping in!
Welcome to Toofew!
Hey Crissy - we actually had a tornado about 1:30a this morning. Took out some office building windows near my office. They say they found the office furniture in the woods nearby!
Tubby - I was looking for the punchline too! We know you all too well!
Stacey - I liked the sign pic.....did you find Canada to be cleaner than the U.S. as well, ....I did (a million years ago).
Betty - good idea about the report....TWO of them! :)
Julie - we've got some of your rain over here. I used to love to listen to Dr. Joy Browne on the radio...She would tell women who called...."If your DH works overtime every day....and you're not getting rich....that's a sign he might be cheating on you!"
I do remind DH of this when he works overtime! LOL
I can barely draw stick figures....so all these crafts on here are waaay over my head.
Back for the nightshift!
Hugs,
Mary
Stacey, how close did you do the clippings? Maybe they could be a little closer?
Audrey, 5/8 will work, that is just a little over 1/2 inch.
Just clip them as far as you can with out clipping your stitches! That is whay some of us will sew the seams at least 2 times, just to re-inforce it.
Audrey, I hope everything gets approved for you, and you can start healing real soon!
I heard about the two tornaodes in Mississippi, one was in Magee, I don't know where the other one was. I didn't hear anything about Baton Rouge being hit. It's supposed to get bad here tomorrow. I'm looking into moving to Knoxville in the far away future, I'm hoping my mom is able to move there within the next 5 years, then I'd have a really neat place to vacation lol!
Babe, the reason they didn't rag as well was because you washed the material ahead of time and it frayed then. If you hadn't washed it it would have ragged from scratch and that would have been more. Anybody else got an idea?
I'm glad you guys are having this discussion on here, I'm learning so much about rag quilts!
Me too..LOL
crissy - does TN not have a problem with tornadoes?
Knoxville is in the mountains, tornadoes rarely hit there.
Now I am worried about your area Mary...already worried about Crissy....
