Oh my goodness, Mary, looks like satin. How beautiful.
My amaryllis only bloom indoors at Christmas when I beg and plead and play music for them.
Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today? #94visit with friends..
DH threatened to pull these up if they didn't bloom this year....
He's working overtime all week. I was thrilled when I just went outside &saw this!
two more flowers on their way. I can't wait to surprise him with the pic when he gets home....made it my desktop background.
I haven't told him....he'll be home after 10pm....
Lovely! Which iris is that? I don't recognize all the solid golden yellow.
Well - DH planted all these....I can't take any credit for them....
All I know is that they are "Iris" but I'll find out what type when he gets home.
We have some deep purple Iris in another area of the yard that were gorgeous when they bloomed last year....
I'm glad the flowers are all popping up for DS's bday party this Saturday night....Although I'm sure 17 yr old boys could really care less...maybe the girls will appreciate them!
Headed for a bath....be on the "NIght SHift".
Mary
Betty I'm glad you're ok, that's scary.
I still have a headache, must be a sympathy headache! My mom is on the phone, I've told her and told her I have a migraine and don't want to talk but she does and that's all that matters. She'll call when I'm eating dinner, I'll tell her I'm eating dinner, she'll say, "Oh you are.." and just start talking away.
Ok, got her off the phone. Going to go nurse my headache. Have a great night everyone!!
I am going through Detroit. I do have my birth cert and driver license, but no passport-they aren't required until June 1
Hey Stacey - Although it was a million years ago....I distinctly remember how dirty the U.S.
was ....then you drive over to Canada and it's so clean!
Ya'll are going to have such a great time!
crissyr - can you get caller Id? We use it rather than an answering machine....
Sharran - what are you up to lately? Writing I know....what else?
Hugs,
Mary
I've decided to go ahead with the surgery. I'm completely covered, wont have to pay a cent! Just co-pay on meds. I just hope they give me good pain meds that work for after! These I have now don't work very well. I've been told I can take two. I think they're only tylenal. (SP) I'll have to talk to the dr. about it!
Ah - good decision based on all the responses you received!
Hope you have someone to drive ....someone brought that up as a concern....
That's great that it's 100% covered!
Sharran - You've upholstered your couch?!?!?!
That's Amazing!
I'm telling your son! I know that was some heavy work...he would definitely not approve!
(Meanwhile - I'm mailing you my sofa//loveseat).... :)
You've done a lot today...
WOW, that that is really nice. How long did it tkae you to do that?
Well, that I have been working on all week, it was plush, and I wanted it more streamlined, so I had to take a bunch of padding out and realign it.
Son knew I was going to do it, but he didn't know all that entailed. I don't tell him everything. I have a chair to do too, but won't take quite as long.
It's my type A personality popping up, seems to do that on a regular basis and not much I can do about it.
I am so glad you are into gardening. You will love it, I think. I can't wait to see big pictures of your yard and gardens.
Hi LK, we crossed.
Actually I have been working on it in bits and pieces this week. In between gardens and blooms, you know? But I have reupholstered it before so it wasn't too hard. And it's a loveseat, so not too big.
Thank you.
Just got in, can get a few 'night owl' posts before heading to bed..achy tonight...no need to wonder why..
Stacey you will do fine, just pretend you are driving on your side of the border..only thing to remember is when the mileage and speeds are posted they are in kl. so it says 100kl
DON'T do it..more like 65-70 your speed..160kl - 100 miles...
don't get fooled by gas, fill up to the brim on your side of the border..looks cheap but you can almost multiply that by 4 (not quite, almost)
Shar what a fantastic job you've done recovering that chesterfield..colors are stunning, can imagine it with the color you've chosen for walls..although exhausted, just think of how proud you'll be each time you enter the room...absolutely perfect...
Audrey so pleased you decided to go through with the operation...we'll be praying for you..once you've made the decision does it take months/months to get a booking?
Mary beautiful flowers...ohhhh ... when I wake up it will be almost spring..that red one is stunning..would be nice to paint photo of it...
Crissy have you tried Excedrin Migraine..I get them so bad I'm in the hospital for shots, since taking Excedrin, rarely get that bad, and if they are bad they are not severe enough for a 'shot'..which is bad for my kidneys...Mom's - you have to love them right Crissy..
Mine called me today to tell me about her eye operation..lordy she just had it done Tuesday and she wants perfect vision today and no pain...
Past my bedtime, making a hot chocolate, going to soak in the tub and nurse my wounds .. a goodnight sleep is what I'll need as I'm sure Stacey will keep me busy...
Just going to charge up my camera batteries...need photo's right...
Finished my sketch project and we framed it tonight..was going on Monday night but thought I can always do the heat set Genesis on my own so while the others worked on daisies, I finished the sketch and I felt bad as Carol got Paul up so he could frame my piece...
Picture doesn't do him justice..should have taken one before put under glass..
I would say the frame is too big for the photo..Carol said I should have sketched higher on the sketch pad..now she tells me..anyway, I'm sure BIL Paul will like it...
Off to bed I go..
night/night everyone..
sure does NOT do it justice..oh well, you get the picture right? lol
Perfect drawing, Betty, beautiful little boy.
You did a great job.
having some computer issues tonight, had to re-boot...or I'd have been chatting away with you all....
Betty - nice picture! The shading is fabulous.....I'll have to show it to DH - he is the real artist in the family...
Okay Sharran - I guess I can't tell DS on you! I do wish I could mail my furniture up to you.
DH is on his way home. I told him there was a "surprise" on the computer for him. (The Iris that "wouldn't" bloom)
DS planning a pool party for Saturday. I said 35 teens...that's all. Well he's invited the Band (30) the Tennis team (15), Mary Kates group (10), the "usuals" (5)....
We'll see what happens Saturday. I'm really excited though....can't believe my baby is 17.
Hugs,
Mary
PS - on for a bit more - 11p bedtime tonight.. :)
We had a house boat for years, it was a 50' boat, slept 8, all the bells and whistles. My son could drive it very very well, and was very responsible. His senior year, during a spring weekend, he asked if he could take his band friends out for a Saturday ride, just about 5 miles down the lake and anchor out for a sort of picnic. We said OK. He had taken it out many times, so we didn't worry. He had even taught new boaters how to dock their boats, etc. Anyway.....
He took 50 band members...we could not believe it, but the boat would hold that many, being a double deck type. Anyway, everything was fine, and the band director even went. And they borrowed life jackets so there were enough for everybody. Scared us to death! But he was totally responsible and had taken several boating classes, so it worked out very well. Still...if we had known.....
What a fabulous story! That's the kind of thing no one that attended will ever forget!
That's great the Band Director went....was he the only "adult"?
We used to have a small 18' boat but sold it when we built the pool...I was such a worrywart with it...
Is this the same DS that is the Patent Lawyer? What instrument did he play?
I'm not worried about the band students invited...really ....Band Students tend to be more responsible....studies show that....(I've done some research for recruitment...but you know all this)
DH home...back in a bit...
Hugs,
Mary
Yes, same son. And yes, the band director was the only adult. He loved it. He had been on the boat for rides many times, so he trusted DS.
He played percussion, first chair...all the drums.
Daughter was also percussion, but she is a pianist, so she played those instruments like xylophones, the big one...marimba? Can't remember what it is called, but like a keyboard, sort of. Beautiful sound. Terribly expensive instrument.
Hey Sharran;
DH walked in - saw the pic on the computer...was SO excited (I've told ya'll - he's like the little old lady of gardening)
He HAD to get the flashlight to go out and look at the iris bloom himself. He said "I didn't see this - this morning" so I told him it bloomed right at 6pm....
He said that it was a "Louisiana Iris" whatever that means...grabbed the Louisiana Gardening book....looked it up and gave it to me then went to take his shower....
I couldn't find any more detailed info on the iris for you....
That's really neat that your DS played percussion - that's what my DS plays...! I
Yes I remembered about your son.
Louisiana Iris...very very beautiful.
The book doesn't say anything about the "all yellow" iris.....
I was thinking your DS played trombone or Sax or something.....
I have so much trouble with DS's grades....that's more common with a percussionist.....so I figured your son played horns....or something...
DS just does not have motivation....I think it's my fault....
Maybe this year we'll turn that around....
You've done well with your kids....
It must be a good feeling to know.....
Thank you, they have done well, but sometimes I wondered...
like the boat trip.....
I think yours will be fine too. He'll get the hang of it soon enough. Is he a junior? Is he driving? That's a scary time, how well I remember.
DS is a Junior...he struggles so much with his grades...just lazy....I guess.......He drives well....I trust him more than the others......
DSD is driving and has already taken out a mailbox.
Very scary time....
Hi all, no time to catch up now, ill read more in the morning. just wanted t say hi and tell betty I finally got to use those new brushes today! omg! amazed at the difference! no longer have to fight to get the paint off the brush! lolol! goes onto surface reallysmooth. love them!
will post pix tomorrow of what I'm working on....think really, really smalll teehee!!
Night Night All !
Nite Mary.
You all have a good Friday.
I will fill up B4 I leave today, but with how many miles it is I will have to fill up in canada too....and I was already thinking that about KPH vs MPH:)
Hello to all,
Sharon..wonderful job on your loveseat.
Betty..sorry to hear about your falls..hope you feel better soon..as you will need all your energy to keep that schedule with Stacey! You two have a great time.
I have done some raking of leaves out of a few beds.. ..but my back is not happy about it. I got one of those plastic springy bands that hold open the big paper leaf bags..great invention.
Visited the garden centre and got two pks of pansies and a hyacinth. Smells so lovely.
4004..so nice to see your blooms..we can only dream right now..but ours are coming soon.
Happy Spring everyone.
Cheers,
Carol

Morning Carol!!! I think I will be the one needing energy to keep up with Miss Betty!!LOL
LOL..yes.. You are probably right.
Have a safe and happy trip.
Morning, it's sunshine out there, great day for driving...Stacey you be cautious..did the instructions you got from computer give you play by play??/ oh well you've the cel if you can't find your way..lol..9:00-9:30 you said you'd be leaving...won't be long...
My kids Shar and Mary missed out on bands..Greg is not interested in playing music unless it's on the radio as he's working with his hands, Jeff on the other hand, because his job is so demanding, he loves his guitars (collects them), piano and has a drum set, not sure what you call it as it has head set as not to make noise so others can hear..but, all his time is spend playing and now with a group who play in bars weekends..he plays the odd time, just to busy with work and the boys..
Know the feeling about teen kids, the Foxy Lady and their boat 'Me Foxy 2' often went out on cruises at night with area youth..6 or 7 boats and mega kids..didn't worry so much back then..now I think 'were we crazy'..lol
But they've grown to be fine boys!
Carol, would you recommend then one of those folding leaf trash bins? When I was in Buffalo a few months ago they had them on sale for $9.99..knew I should have bought a few, can't imagine how much they are here? where did you pick yours up at, Canadian Tire?
I can just see you flitting from nursery to nursery..sure do wish you lived closer....
Spring has sprung, let's hope Mother Nature knows the plan...lol
What do you all have planned for this glorious day?
Lovely image of Mother Nature... taters55..
cold but sunny here today.
Betty I tried to find the leaf bag holder ring on the Can-tire site..but couldn't ..so I just went out and took a pic.
It is $7.99 at Canadian Tire. I don't put all my leaves and debri in these bags..just the front yard refuse mostly..as it saves hauling it all to the very back. If you decide to try one..read the instructions first..LOL..I didn't at first..and thought..well this doesn't work....works great after you do as they say on the package.
By the way.. I saw your new sewing machine there..what a great deal..thought of you as I passed it.
Yes Carol, think Darlene picked it up at Canadian Tire, said while quantities last..cute little thing, great for dragging around and not my big one..
Funny, was just on the Canadian Tire site, hilight of my Friday, getting the e-flyer..you can tell I have too many tools when there isn't anything that's calling me to go buy it...will drop in this aft. and get one Carol, now do they also sell bags that fit inside where you can fill without fighting the bag? usually I just get all the leaves and throw in back 40 tench for composting...best I continue to do so..Carol ARE YOU raking?
ALERT/ALERT
Stacey just called, she's now in Canada - just crossed over..said the custom man was a little intimidating but good looking...lol
good morning all! HAPPY SPRING DAY!!!
Finally read up on all I missed yesterday. while drinking my first cup of coffee and eating my tarts :o)
Betty, you be careful! no more falling! looks like you need that cobblestone pathway :o) teehee!
your sketch turned out lovely! I'm sure he will love it.
Love that reupholstered couch! I've often thought of re-covering mine...but just seems too daunting a task for my limited sewing skills lol!
I know all about kids n driving...lol! taught three of our kids to drive last year, 3 more will get their license this year ugh! no wonder I have anxiety issues! lolol! my poor DSS is 6'11" (just re measured him last week!~ I KNEW he seemed taller!) poor kid is still not done growing! anyhow, his legs are so long that he doesnt fit comfortable in ANY car, much less behind the wheel of a car! 9we have an old 'battle-wagon' suburban that he barely fits into. Will try to teach him to drive in that car, but I've been too scared to teach him lol! not too sure he can adequately move his size 16 foot from gas to brakes fast enough! lolol! we've already discussed that he will have to drive in socks only, no shoes as his shoes are too wide...steps on gas and brake at same time ugh! maybe I'll work up the courage to take him driving this weekend...now that the rains have stopped, at least the roads are drier. Will have to take him across town to empty commercial roads where he cant do too much harm lolol!
well, off to Dr appt, then running errands for my son, BBL
Have a GREAT spring day everyone!
