Ok, I've figured out the card reader on Don's computer... sheesh...
Here's Me and Mike in front of the Alamo in San Antonio.
۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞115
Hi Bonjon - Hillsboro is about 25 miles south of Claremont. And yes we are a peaceful sort up here in the country. My DH and I moved to this area of NH about 2 years ago and just love it. We formerly lived 50 miles south and it was growing into a city. We like a small town. I have a brother who lives in Rutherford, NC. Small world!!! We are still snowed in. The picture was taken about an hour ago!!!
And you can read more about our trip on the Travels of Cedric and Bailey here.

Now, I have some things to do today... Mike's started without me.
BJ, looks like you and Mike had a great time in your travels.
Barbara, most everyone in Texas has their yard, or ranch fenced in. Ours was done when we moved in here. It is probably to protect what you have, and to keep unwanted visitors out!
Since we are right on the Mexican Border, we have a lot of (how shall I say this) unwanted visitors. Most of them are just passing through and will leave you alone, but then there are those that will take anything that is not nailed down! I guess it is because with the Border here, a lot of it has to do with the kids on drugs and stuff? I guess we could move, but we like the area here.
Bon, thanks for the offer, but I know you are busy with your plants also.
Audrey, glad to hear you are doing better.
LK
I need to look at a map once in a while. I had no idea you were that close to the border. Understand now - thanks.
LOL
We are right on the Border. My house is 7 miles from it!
Down south of us about 60 miles, is a town called eagle pass, and the drug wars are getting pretty bad down there. We pray everyday it does not come this way.
Hello everyone.
Kim, like LK has said, lucky to get your truck fixed now, then having it breaking down along a highway. That much to change a fuel pump? Wow... I guess prices differ from state to state. Labor cost must be more than $50 per hour.
BTW niece, you got your car fixed yet?
Great pictures there BJ. You look so happy hugging Terry! Now we know how LK's father looks like. You are all so lucky to be enjoying bright sunny weather for such an excursion.
LK, you're really living in a volatile zone!!! Do you own any fire arms??
Glad you asked Barb.. didn't know our sistah's too close to the border.
Donna, a lot of women fell for bad boys, thinking they could change them. You know the mothering kind. My ex was married 4 times, that should be a sign right? No.. I jumped into the fire, and kept on burning till I left him after 25 years. When did he realised he had a good woman? Right after I left.. Did he change? Yes, after I left!! Lol!!
Bonnie, Clint was definitely slow in articulating.. but it makes his charater more credible. Could be his swan song as an actor, but not as a producer/director I'm sure. Another movie we'd like to see will be "Taken". Love Liam Neeson. Sad to read on what had happened to his beautiful wife.
Good news there Audrey. Lisa rather be home than be left to the care of uncaring hospital staff ;)
You better believe we have fire arms, loaded and ready to use!
Todd and I went for a late drive one night a few years ago, and when we came back home, someone had kicked in the front door. Evidently, we disturbed them when we came back, cause nothing was stolen!. But it took us a long time to rest easy, and worry about someone coming in!
I am just so glad we're all in cyber space :D
This afternoon, for lunch, we went to our favorite Mexican restaurant. He had Carnitas, and I had grilled tilapias. Thing is we ordered a plate of grilled onions to go with them. I am certain 2 whole onions were used. We also had a big plate of refried beans!!
Talk of odorofous (sp)!!!!! I haven't stopped tooting all afternoon!!!! Poor walls and they made my poor furbabies jumped!! Yep... the toots are loud!!!
Good thing Kel's tooting on his own.. at the shop.. poor customers!!
We cross post, LK.
Since now I know you've been 'visited', one day of you not posting, will make me pace the floor!!!!!
Beans, beans the hardy fruit, the more you eat, the more you...
LOL
Well, you have my number to call, just in case.
Not you too LK!!!! Kel sings the same tune :(
Yep.. you bet I'll be calling!
I will also make sure to post, when I will be gone for any length of time.
LK
LK, hope one is a good pump shotgun....Sig P220 would my personal second choice...those are the ones a Policeman friend recommended to me...
Taking notes here Trisha.
We've installed security systems at the shop and here, equipped with cameras.
Robberies are on the rise here, not due to unemployment, but drug addictions!
We have shotguns, rifles, handguns... Is that enough?
I saw a sign at the Ace hardware store. it said,
"This property protected by smith and wesson, 3 days a week, you guess which 3!"
Yes, the good thing about the shotgun is that if racking it up doesn't scare em off, you don't have to be that accurate.....I still like my 9mm for target practice....
LK, I like that one!
LK ROTHFLMAO and I'm the one with a gorgeous single daughter that finally gave up and got a permit to carry concealed. Makes ya think when she has to excuse herself to remove her ankle holster before going into A Southern Season for a luncheon - they post no weapons.
you do have a security system in the house right? and use it at night. so you can sleep and not wake up dead? a lot of those folks end up in NC these days. five years ago we had every other business with help wanted posters posted. now we have the fastest growing Hispanic population in the USA, and no one can understand me at the fast food counters. we've always had mix of races in the south, but not a mix of languages. I'm getting used to it. good ones are great workers.
always heard the song go "beans beans the musical fruit. the more you eat the more you toot."
Here, we haven't heard our doorbell in years. no one enters off the drive but what Hope sends up a racket. then she goes to see if they'll pet her. what a guard dog.
can't say much on crime rising. I'm the Realtor got mugged in Raleigh in 2001, fought my attacker. one of reasons I don't do much anymore.
meant to add, the police say crime doesn't rise so much in hard times as domestic violence. it goes up a lot.
Have to laugh about the dog....Bill says they see the Beware of Dog and hear her Bark, but if they could see the wagging tail on this side of door wanting to be petted they would realize she would probably hold the flashlight for them :(
But I do have to say if I even raise my voice she is right there and all teeth.....
We have to hold back our Chi, Trisha! She's in denial!!! Always think she's a 100 lb. mastiff.
Cya'll later.. no magical fruits tonight.. ehem.. maybe some baked chicken instead!
Baked Chicken is what I was thinking here too......just have to see what I have to go with it...
Time to go pick Sage up from School, talk to ya later...
WOW...LK... I had no idea it was so dangerous in your neck of the woods... guess I didn't realize you were so close to the border either.
The only fence we have is the little yard we fenced off for the dogs... they ran away, and now it's becoming my secret garden. Almost noone has fences on the lake... and those that do is usually because of a dog in the yard, not to keep out intruders. Heck... I rarely even lock my doors unless I'm not coming back home till after dark... only because I hate to walk in a dark house alone.
I am grateful to live in a safe area though... Home is suppose to be a safe place.
Well, I got about half of the monkey grass replanted after it had to come out for the walk. And Mike dipped out the channel of all the debris that floated up, and dug out the culvert at the road so the water will drain again and not make a lake there. We really need to dig out all the ditches... but so far we've not had standing water for more than a couple hours after a good rain. It'll wait till next year after we get caught up. IF we ever get caught up.
I have absolutely nothing to fix for dinner... so Mike and I are going to town to find a burger or something... SYL
another day where I've got the dizzies and don't want to eat or move. Dinner? uh oh. i knew I was forgetting something. I"m still looking for receipts for accountant.
Bon, sounds like you may have an inner ear infection. Better go have it checked out!
Bj, what is Monkey grass?
LK
Couldn't resist bringing this one over from our Laura in Australia that she posted on Best Worse....
ROSES & HANGING BASKETS
A teenage granddaughter
comes downstairs for her date
with this see-through blouse on and no bra.
Her grandmother just pitched a fit,
telling her not to dare go out like that!
The teenager tells her
'Loosen up Grams.
These are modern times.
You gotta let your rose buds show!'
and out she goes.
The next day the teenager comes down stairs,
and the grandmother is sitting there with no top on.
The teenager wants to die
She explains to her grandmother
that she has friends coming over
and that it is just not appropriate...
The grandmother says,
'Loosen up,
Sweetie.
If you can show off your rose buds,
then I can display my hanging baskets.
Happy Gardening.
LK... Monkey Grass is Mondo Grass... ground cover, only gets about 6" tall, grows in clumps, puts out runners and multipies quickly.
I love Black Mondo Grass....Laura left hers at the old house, so now I have to "Buy" some!!
Ok, I had to go look it up in the plant files. That is pretty cool. Lots of varieties of it too!
LK
Looking for Deborah... Calling Deborah.... Deborah, come in... over.
Hows Riley and Ashley.
Well let me tell you sistahs.... boy, was the interior of the truck charged up with noxious gas!!!!!! Had to keep the windows rolled down!!!
No amount of Eau du Paris could cover up the stench!
But... we did have a wise meal. Reason for taking off to Ryan's instead of cooking.. cause we both disagreed on what to eat. Buffet's seems the best way to go. I had my baked chicken with corn on the cob, and he had his bbq ribs.. plus all the greasy stuffs he likes. Kel's not into salad, and I love to load up the plate with fresh greens, no dressing. Tummy's full and happy.
Deborah must be busy with Ashley and Riley, BJ. I just hope she finds a little time to post new baby pics.
Shocking news.. Natasha Richardson didn't make it :( She's so beautiful. Leaving 2 young sons behind.
Gonna 'hang my baskets' and watch Law & Order. See me later :D
Ohhh wish I had corn on the cob to go with mine.....guess I should go see what is over in the freezer....
I saw that on the news tonight, very sad....as my mom says we should be ready because we never know when our time will come.........I feel so bad for the kids especially.
May or may not get back on tonight or tomorrow am.....Laura is borrowing my air card so she will have better computer access than my MIL's antique.....sometimes I can "borrow" WiFi access from my neighbors.....we will see what happens....
If I don't make it back...everyone have a good night......
Good night everyone. Sweet dreams!
LK
Watched the possums eating on the backporch. They have certainly gained weight. Funny to watch how their behinds have widened considerably!
Good night everyone.
Maybe they are going to have babies?
