Betty - We knew they were having problems as she is in college plus working full time and he seems to drink a lot and isn't doing anything to better himself, but we didn't think it was this bad. The neighbors I'm always afraid of interrupting something are my parent's age and live up the street, me and my next door neighbors are always bugging each other.
Best/Worse/What did I learnt today...visit with friends #91
Just popping in then back to work....
Bev - glad it turned out okay. Lots of T&P's sent your way!
Chrissy - hope something good happens, and maybe it'll all be for the best....
Sharran - read your final post last night just now...I'm so sorry to hear about that....I hope you have some wonderful memories to comfort you.....
I'm constantly on DH to take his blood pressure meds...
I did get to bed right after 11p....I have to be strict with myself this week especially.
Although I can't believe I found my old resume....(on a floppy disk) from 11 years ago and dusted it off....(so to speak)......so that cheered me up a bit from my last week worries...
Hello to Betty, Anjl, Stacey, Trisha, Tubby, Debbie, Seed...YOU ALL ! - gotta run back to work now....
Mary
Back in Barrie I am..if there was a back road to find I found it..had to go have something to eat for 1 1/2..Paul bought a 2nd computer system just so if one is down we won't have to go through same problem..once I picked up the units I drove further into city and delivered them to Toronto office where Paul is..he's hoping to have everything downloaded so he can install mine before morning or it will indeed be a long day ...
Bev, how frantic your daughter and you must have been..with muscle spasm meds and careful movement Terri should be better in a few days..sending prayers..
Shar, how wonderful to have all that debris picked up ..did you know they were going to? glad that you are all organized from painting project, now you can enjoy outside...
Stopped and mailed my 'where I live' swap pkg. in Toronto..had meant to do it in Barrie here , might have saved a day traveling unless of course customs doesn't like what's in it...
Stacey, I call Fabricland before I left this morning for the city..there were 3 pairs of scissors and 3 boxes left..because I can't get there tonight due to portrait class they said they'd put my name on them and I can pick up tomorrow after work..so got you 1 of each..is that ok...
Diane also wanted 1 so no trouble finding a home for them..
Crissy, perhaps a nice middle aged couple will move next door and adopt you as their own..know when Dave's at work you fret at time, would be nice for you to know someone is there for you..they may love gardening..just think about all the plant/seed swaps you can do..let's hope though that there is an answer to your neighbors difficulties..perhaps it was just a major spat..
AnnMarie, what special thing do you have planned for today? How did your son make out over the weekend, good reports..
Tubby, wow 6 planters..am sure you will enjoy every minute making them...must take a photo of the chair I made, bottom is chicken wire..probably not more than $5.00 worth of wood..made several pieces that matched..love the pavers..John Deere tractor..don't let any of the farmers see them..did your mom enjoy her birthday party? good time had by all right...
Trisha, even children like Sage are getting tired of 'snow'..won't stay long though..sun is getter stronger..most likely what I got last night will have all but melted when I get home..let's hope..
Debbie, you have to join us and make a 'squirrel' feeder..give them something to do so they leave your planters alone...
Judy, do you have to rip out a lot of your project..wouldn't it have been easier to go and buy another 1/4 yard..
Vicki, did you winter sow inside or outside???
Thanks Betty!! I hoped for a pair of scissors, but hay-a box too-even better!! I appreciate it!!
LOL Betty, in a perfect world! I don't know if I could ever find neighbors who are as good as these guys are. They adult sit me in storms, we share everything, she loves gardening, two peas in a pod is what we seem to be. All I have to do is say, "Diana I need an adultsitter!" and here she comes, or says, "Get over here girl!!" We get along so so good. It's not just a major spat, he has a serious drinking problem, has 3 or 4 dwi's, gets drunk every night and beat her, the dogs, and the house up. There's no way she could try that again, I wouldn't want her to, it's too dangerous.
Inside this time Betty!
Vicki, I always think of winter sowing as putting seeds outside in the cold and come what may...you off today?
Crissy, adding her to my prayers, must be an answer..how far from town/city are you? does she have a basement that she could live in and rent upper floor..must be someone who wants to live in the country..shucks, they drive 100 miles a day to live in the country...best under those conditions she rid herself of him..
You wouldn't want to be a landlady now would you, have a spare room to rent?then when you need adult sitting she's already there..just kidding know that's not the solution either..
Not a problem Stacey, only about 15 minutes out of my way..I'll just close my eyes when I go in so I don't find any more bargoons..lol
I already have two interested girls. She said she couldn't find anyone, she doesn't know the desperate girls I know lol! It's just a house on a slab. On the inside it almost looks like it was a double wide that they put a foundation under and added half the living room onto. The outside has siding all the way around it, so no telling what's under the siding. It's weird. I'm 40 minutes from Little Rock, which is the only "large" city where everybody works, 20 minutes from Benton, where everybody shops, and 30 minutes from Hot Springs, where everybody parties.
Hmmm, guess she's overwhelmed and not thinking clearly right now..how many bedrooms..would she need to find 1 or 2 to share cost?
I always thought the worse that could happen if the economy got desperate like no $$$ for government pensions...that I could move downstairs and rent the upstairs, but I'd have to be in charge of the gardens..lol
Hi, good afternoon!
Wow, Ok, Ihave been a little busy. Yep Betty, Actually I guess i could have left the four pieces in but that through off my color scheme and that through me off. So ripped it all out and ran off to JoAnnes. I am so frustrated with them, I know I filled out mailing info for flyers and such. but Here tey are having a huge sale!! So i actually only paid a few dollars for the replacement fabric. Plus got a couple extra flats.
LOLOL, now, I really have to stay out of there... the other thing is I have been looking for this book on making fairy and gnomes, with polymar clay...Finally found it!! So, just had to get that, but I used a 40% off coupon, so I am excited, see must be why I made the blunder!
Then, beepbobbed over to the book store, found this book, I was looking for! So pretty excited to spend some time away from the house.
Chrissy, i hope you will have some good neighbors move in. Was bummed to hear you are loosing some good ones too. LOL, so adultsitters!! But glad you have some.
Mary, Oh gosh, so glad you found your resume! LOL, I have one somewhere, on paper! Going to have to search really hard for it. Now does your computer still take the floppy?? Only asking because i don't think mine newer one takes a floppy. Well, wishing you luck with it.
Oh Betty, I hope you enjoy your painting class tonight.
Hi Trisha, glad the move is going so well..whew pretty soon, you can relax again.
Screamming, O M G, i forgot to pick up Sabrina!!! Holy moly, poor kid, I gotta go!
Laughing Judy, you didn't forget to drop in to Joanne's though did you? time must have gotten away from you..know you can't show us your project as yet, but soon you can..anxious to see it..can't believe the stitching you do!
On my way from the city taking back roads just out of town is a store called The Great Canadian Warehouse..big sign says 'no membership' required..keyed it into computer and it's a grocery store..mega commercial side to it..bet the have my gallon jug..will drop in on Friday afternoon as I'm toooo busy all week..that way I can get some groceries..
Stacey, say like the kids, not this weekend coming but the next right?
OMG! i was sitting here reading...getting caught up on threads and then came to Judys post....LOL@ forgetting to pick up the kid...then glanced at the clock and OMG!!! son was getting out of school, he's all the way across town! jumped in the car and went to get him....thankfully he had to stay after for a few minutes so I got there before he got out :o) he came running up to the car, apologizing for having me wait! lolol! I had just got there! told him what happened and we both had a good giggle over it :o)
now back home, sons settled in doing his homework... get back on here and I have completely forgotten everything I read :o(
Thank you all for the well wished o) Im hoping that this next year is alot better than last year :o)
gotta get off the puter now, DH will be home soon and then everyone else will be arriving. I think 6 of the 8 kids will be here, and my DGS, mom and my two sis's and their families...so gotta get the coffee made :o)
oh, almost forgot...I AM getting the breamaker, but we had to order it online so have to stalk the mailman again :oD teehee!
I'll try to log on for the Night Shift, have to wait til everyone goes home first lol!
AnjL
Betty lets see the chair..Sounds neat..You have my curiosity going..
Mom had a good time ..We all did..MIL was here too.. Those two could talk all night I think.LOL
I tell them their like teenagers at a slumber party..LOL
Yes I'll enjoy building the boxes for them all..It's not like work..You all know that when you love doing something you enjoy..
Betty you have to give instructions on painting those linoleum pieces..DW & DSs were asking me what you used for paint ect..
Everyone is headed home now. They wanted to be home by dark..4hr drive to South Dakota for Mom & 2 DSs
She used ceramacoat paints, but I am assuming any acrylics would do...I may be wrong though...the several layers of top coats are the key to make it durable
Thanks Seedtosser! I was pretty sure the A: drive was dead but lo & behold....it worked. I don't even have one on my work computer & it's a newer one.
Resume is 11 years old.....
God is trying to tell me something!
See ya'll on the Night Shift !!!
what topcoat does she use? anyone know?
I showed DH a pix... we have hardwood floors, might be nice to have a huge mat in our livingroom...in lieu of the big throw rugs that always get stained when kids spill sodas! lol! AND it will give me a project to work on teehee!

The Tomato Garden
An old Italian lived alone in New Jersey . He wanted to plant his annual tomato garden, but it was very difficult work, as the ground was hard.
His only son, Vincent, who used to help him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament:
Dear Vincent,
I am feeling pretty sad, because it looks like I won't be able to plant my tomato garden this year. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. I know if you were here my troubles would be over. I know you would be happy to dig the plot for me, like in the old days.
Love,
Papa
A few days later he received a letter from his son.
Dear Pop,
Don't dig up that garden. That's where the bodies are buried..
Love,
Vinnie
At 4 a.m. the next morning, FBI agents and local police arrived and dug up the entire area without finding any bodies. They apologized to the old man and left.
That same day the old man received another letter from his son.
Dear Pop,
Go ahead and plant the tomatoes now. That's the best I could do under the circumstances.
Love you,
Vinnie
roflmbo! love that one Tubby!
Important I never would have thought about this..If you knew this then its just a reminder!!!

clothes dryer filter and softeners.
This posted on another of my websites - tried it out - sure is true! Couldnt find a reference to it here recently .
The snopes website has more information.
INTERESTING INFO ABOUT CLOTHES DRYERSI had a wonderful morning, the heating unit went out on my dryer! Why does everything seem to fall apart this time of year!???The guy that fixes things went in to the dryer pulled out the Lint FilterIt was clean. We always clean the lint from the filter after Every load of clothes. He told us that he wanted to show us something. He took the filter over to the sink, ran hot water over it.Now, the lint filter is made of a mesh material - I'm sure you know What your dryer's lint filter looks like. WELL... The hot water just Sat on top of the mesh!!! It didn't go through it at all!!!He told us that dryer sheets cause a film over that mesh that's whatBurns out the heating unit. You can't SEE the film, but it's there. This is also what causes dryer units to catch fire & potentially burnYour house down with it! He said the best way to keep your dryer Working for a very long time (& to keep your electric bill (lower) is to Take that filter out & wash it with hot soapy water & an old toothbrush (or other brush) at least every six months. He said that makes the life Of the dryer at least twice as long! How about that???!!!! Learn something new everyday! I certainly Didn't know dryer sheets would do that. So, I thought I'd share!Note: I went to my dryer & tested my screen by running water on it.The water ran thru a little bit but mostly collected all the water In the mesh screen. I washed it with warm soapy water & a nylon brush & I had it done in 30 seconds. Then when I rinsed it the water ran right thru the screen! There Wasn't any puddle at all! That repairman knew what he was talking About!PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO OTHER PEOPLE IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK. NOT ONLY COULD IT SAVE SOMEONE'S HOME, BUT IT COULD SAVE SOMEONE'S LIFE!
[HYPERLINK@www.snopes.com]
Tubby, that is very true....it happened to a dear friend. They had put the dryer on....and went to bed. House was full of smoke and they thankfully woke up. When the fire department came....it was the lint screen in the dryer....and yes, exactly what you said. The firemen showed her how to clean it....did the "run water thru it" test and the water just sat there.
So, that is a big help for everyone....and shold be done twice a month at least.
oooh! thanks Tubby, yes in the insurance industry I have seen many, many (too many!) fires caused by the same problem. I learned from others mistakes...but it DOES happen! ~also learned how to put out a grease fire! friend of mine lost everything cause she tried to move a flaming pan out of the house....walked next to a dried up christmas tree and tree caught fire :o( really sad....even her purse burned and melted her car keys! had to borrow clothes and shoes from me so she could work the next day :o( something I'll never forget!
Yes what the fire doesn't ruin the smoke or water dose .DS lost everything in fire.No one hurt..But lost a lot of wedding gifts she was saving for when they could afford a better house..She never saved anything after that..With 13 kids that was impossible anyway..LOL
My dryer story - at 23 I purchased my first dryer at a "Bait & Switch" sale....I just didn't "switch" when the salesperson told me the cheap dryer was only for hairdressers who dried towels...
Now 20 years later ...have same dryer! Never used fabric softeners either... The dryer's running right now...
(Of course the washer went out the day before Hurricane Gustav- Murphy's Law)

Husband Store
A store that sells new husbands has opened in New York City , where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates:
You may visit this store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the value of the products increase as the shopper ascends the flights. The shopper may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!
So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. On the first floor the sign on the door reads:
Floor 1 - These men Have Jobs
She is intrigued, but continues to the second floor, where the sign reads:
Floor 2 - These men Have Jobs and Love Kids.
'That's nice,' she thinks, 'but I want more.'
So she continues upward.. The third floor sign reads:
Floor 3 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, and are Extremely Good Looking.
'Wow,' she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.
She goes to the fourth floor and the sign reads:
Floor 4 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Good Looking and Help With Housework.
'Oh, mercy me!' she exclaims, 'I can hardly stand it!'
Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads:
Floor 5 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous, Help with Housework, and Have a Strong Romantic Streak..
She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor, where the sign reads:
Floor 6 - You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please. Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.
PLEASE NOTE:
To avoid gender bias charges, the store's owner opened a New Wives store just across the street.
The first floor has wives that are lovely
The second floor has wives that are lovely and have money and like beer.
The third, fourth, fifth and sixth floors have never been visited.
Tubby, I use acrylic paints..I find that if I give it 8 to 10 coats of Flecto Diamond Satin Varathane, either indoor or outdoor the floormat will last forever, remember, you are painting the backside and the more flexible the linoleum is the better..I purchase both linoleum and varathane at Home Depot..
YardQueen1948 posted this in joke forum this evening .Funny
HEALTH QUESTION & ANSWER SESSION
Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.
Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!
Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!
Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!!. Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?
Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.
Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? HELLO ... Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!
Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.
Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!
Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets
Betty Thanks I'll let my DSs know..I'll show DW in the morning
Now get your evening exercise girls..Must stay in shape you know..I've already had my HERSHEY BAR..LOL
Hello To All;
The Nightshift is quiet tonight....possibly we are having difficulty "Springing Forward"?
Okay - I'm putting out my famous Cheeseball & crackers for the wino's....someone will need to come up with sweets for the milk drinkers....
Can't put the music on yet b'c DH is still watching TV.
Betty - the eyes are stunning.....I like the dimple by the mouth...I certainly cannot be an art critic, though, that is DH's forte...as with gardening... !
My DS's 17th Birthday is tomorrow! I can't believe how happy I am....think I should be sad because he is growing up and not my baby anymore...(But will always be my baby). Told him Friday night we'll either 1) Take family , and his Norwegian girlfriend out for Sushi, or 2) he can have a pool party for up to 30 of his closest friends... ( :) )
Not sure what he's picking....he's not a planner...
Anjl - where is Fremont? I've done the same thing...running late to pick up! It's so hard to keep up with their schedules! How old are yours?
Hugs to all - will check back soon.....
My STRICT bedtime is 11pm so I have 59 more minutes to chat. :)
Mary
LOL Betty, if I can find one who wants to pay $500.00 for a room w/ full access to the house and acre, but if not she would need two at $350.00. She was more cheerful tonight but I know her heart is aching. Her husband didn't come home last night, and she said she never even thought about him not being there until this morning, and the fact of the matter is when he's staying at someone else's house and doesn't know who it is or where, and she doesn't care, it's time to get out. She said she's going to try her hardest to keep the house, she doesn't want to move either, it's nice out here.
You're going to crack up at this. I was talking to her this evening when she got home and I mentioned that it looks like the bad storms that were supposed to happen tomorrow night isn't going to be near as bad as they had first thought, and it looks like it's going to go North of us. She said, "I know, I'm glad it's fizzling, maybe it'll just completely fizzle. I was getting a night bag ready to come stay the night with you Tuesday night because I know how scared you get and don't like being alone during them." I thought that is just too cute. I told her she can come stay the night with me any time she wants to, Dave's at work all night and I'm here by myself all night anyway.
night/night
She's lucky to have a friend like you Crissy..
Yep, I'm heading to bed as well..tired/tired and morning comes quickly..
Hi!...
hehehe, yep it's me! Judy, shhh,. if you want to chat we can.
My youngeast brother is coming!
I am so excited..
give hi m a hug . will be fun.
Goodnight ladies - I'll hold up the fort till 11pm....
Betty - that garden area is gorgeous...and I love the chairs/ shelf / bench...where did you get those? I LOVE the adirondack look. Target had something similar but DH didn't think it looked to sturdy/ didn't like the price...
Isn't Betty's garden at night pretty!
The dark blues...sweet.
where are the night crew??
?
Mary....
Wow, 75 here today and I have been outside till now. We had a big burn pile in the lot next door, most of it belonged to my neighbor, some was mine, so tonight their family came over and we had a huge hot dot/marshmallow/smores bonfire party.....full moon...it was wonderful! So I just got home.
Got a couple of great photos....
Look at this....
Guess what????????? WE ARE DONE WITH LAURA'S MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Judy!!
Hey Seed;
Night Crew is AWOL tonight...maybe they are all out partying together (It's a conspiracy!).
Maybe they didn't have enough Spring in their step to "Spring forward"... :)
Betty's garden is gorgeous....
(Another joke about my resume - DH pointed out to me under "computer abilities" or something like that I had "Internet"....must have been a strength 11 years ago... HA!).
How are YOU doing tonight?
Mary
