Best/Worse/What did I learnt today...visit with friends #91

Baton Rouge, LA

TELL me about that movie- I've been DYING to see it!!!!

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Did y'all read the book?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

It has been along day at Laura's. We have finished the inside of the house...just have the stuff in the Garage to finish up as soon as we can get a truck....a trip to the dump, one to Goodwill and the final few things to the new house....it is going to be sooo good to finally be done with this move!!! I am completely worn out...I hate moving more than anything I can think of.

Have had snow off and on all day....sun breaks....rain......a bit of everything....

Sorry I have been missing on the night shift lately.....this move has put a cramp in a lot of things...hopefully we will be back on track soon.....carpet cleaners come on Monday....walk through on Tuesday and it will be done!

Think it is time for bed....I am already so stiff and sore, I hope I can get up in the morning. Have a good night everyone.....

Oh! Laura says Costco has some really good pickle in really nice big Gallon Glass jars....you have to eat a lot of pickle!

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

hmmm, maybe I need to take a trip to costco! I really dont like going there! have panic attacks because its soooo overcrowded and overwhelming :o( but might be worth it to get a bigger jar! teehee!

I cried buckets during the movie...definitely one I will buy and add to my collection, although poor DS doesnt like to watch Dakota Fanning....see my youngest "kody"s full name is Dakota, and he says that she stole his name and made it a girly name! lol! so now he goes by Kody :o) well, that was until my DD named her son David Dakota lol! now he want to be called Uncle Dakota teehee! anyhow, a great great movie...definitely worth watching...altho DH & DS went to bed and didnt watch it with me :o( think its more of a chick flick! teehee

okay ready for a pix of my new arbor??!! the stick behind DH is my wisteria. It never had anything to grow up onto, so it has grown over the lil decorative fence and now spans almost the entire length of that fence! hopefully will be abe to train it to go up and over the Arbor without having to cut too much off it. SH is going to extend the decorative fence on the other side of the arbor up to the house. Then I get a new huge bed next to the house to plant my hibiscus yippee!!

didnt take any pix of the work DS and I did, but I DO have pix of him to share :o)

Thumbnail by 1AnjL
(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

here is current pix of DS...AFTER working in the yard with mom all day! lolol!

He has decided to grow out his hair...only problem is that it is soooo curly it turns into an afro! lol! which he hates! so DD & I will spend a few hours tomorrow braiding his hair into cornrows! teehee! might be easier for him to grow it out then, and once it gets long enough then it will e heavier and wont go afro on him! lol! if not, I'm sure he will just shave it all off! teehee

Taking over the morning shift, sorry Shar, went upstairs and we'll you know the 'rest of the story'...see you weren't back on either, sure do hope that project of yours has now ended and you can get back to creating through 'writting/painting/gardening'..

Very foggy outside this morning so temps are above freezing..still working on my matt, gave up last night, tired, so thought it best to work on it early this morning..

AnnMarie, good looking boy..do hope his visit is all you and doctors want it to be..shhhh in my lowest voice, 'did he know you had a chicken living in his digs?' lol

Love the arbour, I can see you are really looking forward to gardening this year?

Trisha, finally the move is over..is Laura feeling better? know she will once everything is in order..now you can have some mini visits...

Hmmm Cosco, never thought of them..must make a trip one day..must finish these inside projects so I can take on the squirrel feeders ..wonder how Liz and Judy are making out with theirs?

Best I go back to painting..

Morning All Getting ready for mom's B party.Fun day ahead

ALL GRANDPAS, HEED THIS WARNING

Do NOT lose your Grand kids in the Mall!

A small boy was lost at a large shopping mall. He approached a
uniformed
policeman and said, "I've lost my grandpa!"

The cop asked, "What's he like?"

The little boy hesitated for a moment and then replied, "Crown Royal
whiskey and women with big boob's."

Good one Rated GGGGG
"IF TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME"

A few weeks ago a woman was killed in an auto
accident. She was very well liked, so the office shut down
for her funeral and it was on the news and so on. On the day
the workers came back to work, they found this poem in their
e-mail that the deceased woman had sent on Friday before she
left for home.

"If tomorrow starts without me,
and I'm not there to see,
if the sun should rise and find your eyes
all filled with tears for me;

I wish so much you wouldn't cry
the way you did today,
while thinking of the many things,
we didn't get to say.

I know how much you love me,
as much as I love you,
and each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too.

But when tomorrow starts without me,
please try to understand,
that an angel came and called my name,
and took me by the hand,

And said my place was ready,
in heaven far above,
and that I'd have to leave behind
all those I dearly love.

But as I turned to walk away,
a tear fell from my eye,
for all my life, I'd always thought,
I didn't want to die.

I had so much to live for,
so much left yet to do,
it seemed almost impossible,
that I was leaving you.

I thought of all the yesterdays,
the good ones and the bad;
I thought of all that we shared,
and all the fun we had.

If I could relive yesterday,
just even for a while,
I'd say good-bye and kiss you
and maybe see you smile.

But then I fully realized,
that this could never be,
for emptiness and memories,
would take the place of me.

And when I thought of worldly things,
I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did,
my heart was filled with sorrow.

But when I walked through heaven's gates,
I felt so much at home,
when God looked down and smiled at me,
from His great golden throne,

He said, "This is eternity,
and all I've promised you."
Today your life on earth is past,
but here life starts anew.

I promise no tomorrow,
but today will always last,
and since each day is the same way,
there's no longing for the past.

You have been so faithful,
so trusting and so true,
though there were times you did some things,
you knew you shouldn't do.

But you have been forgiven,
and now at last you're free.
So won't you come and take my hand,
and share my life with me?

So when tomorrow starts without me,
don't think we're far apart,
for every time you think of me,
I'm right here, in your heart " .

May God watch over you and your family now and
always. There is no right time to do the wrong thing. .
there is no wrong time to tell someone you care.

TO FUNNY
SAFE ONE

A happy ending

She spent the first day packing her belongings into boxes, crates and suitcases.

On the second day, she had the movers come and collect her things.

On the third day, she sat down for the last time at their beautiful dining room table by candlelight, put on some soft background music and feasted on a pound of shrimp, a jar of caviar and a bottle of Chardonnay.

When she had finished, she went into each and every room and deposited a few half-eaten shrimp dipped in caviar, into the hollow of the curtain rods.

She then cleaned up the kitchen and left.

When the husband returned with his new girlfriend, all was bliss for the first few days. Then slowly, the house began to smell. They tried everything; cleaning, mopping and airing the place out.

Vents were checked for dead rodents and carpets were steamed. Air fresheners were hung everywhere. Exterminators were brought in to set off gas canisters, during which they had to move out for a few days, and in the end even paid to replace the expensive wool carpeting.

Nothing worked. People stopped coming over to visit. Repairmen refused to work in the house. The maid quit.

Finally, they could not take the stench any longer and decided to move.

A month later, even though they had cut their price in half, they could not find a buyer for their stinky house. Word got out and eventually even the local realtors refused to return their calls.

Finally, they had to borrow a huge sum of money from the bank to purchase a new place.

The ex-wife called the man and asked how things were going. He told her the saga of the rotting house. She listened politely and said that she missed her old home terribly, and would be willing to reduce her divorce settlement in exchange for getting the house back.

Knowing his ex-wife had no idea how bad the smell was, he agreed on a price that was about 1/10th of what the house had been worth, but only if she were to sign the papers that very day.

She agreed and within the hour his lawyers delivered the paperwork.

A week later the man and his girlfriend stood smiling as they watched the moving company pack everything to take to their new home.... .......including the curtain rods.

I LOVE A HAPPY ENDING, DON'T YOU?????

I rec'd this in my email this morning. I can't remember if it has been posted on here or not yet....but gave me a good chuckle.

Nurses

YOU GOTTA LOVE A GOOD NURSE!

A motorcycle patrolman was rushed to the hospital with an inflamed appendix. The doctors operated and advised him that all was well.

However, the patrolman kept feeling something pulling at the hairs in his crotch. Worried that it might be a second surgery and the doctors hadn't told him about it, he finally got enough energy to pull his hospital gown up enough so he could look at what was making him so uncomfortable.

Taped firmly across his pubic hair were three wide strips of adhesive tape, the kind that doesn't come off easily.

Written in large black letters was the sentence:
"Get well soon....from the nurse in the Jeep you pulled over last week..."

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, you brought a smile to my face...how's the weather? Do you have something planned for today, you are always so busy...or...is it a day of rest..really do mom's ever have a day of rest?

Sat here this morning and looked at all the pretty gardening things I bought while in Buffalo..thought of you!
You are such a 'sweetie'

Keep getting sidetracked...might go outside for awhile, can't do cleaning but can tidy up around the decks...

oh its going to be a challenge for sure!

ok got to mentally prepare myself be back later

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, it is cold and damp here. Was supposed to be in the 50's and warmish. I had planned to go out and rake and clean the yard. Not going to happen.

Shane and I are home alone, DH had to work. I think we are going up in the attic and look for a few items I want to bring down. Today "should" be quiet. Just taking Shannon to work at 2:00ish and Shane Youth Group at the church at 6:00.....and then fixing dinner.

This week is going to be a mess with so much running.....but am hoping today I can "veg out" as the kids say. LOL

Debbie

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Aw Betty if I had known about the scissors on sale I woulda had you pick me up some....those boxes will be cute stocking stuffers or in little gift baskets-what a creative idea and you got a heck of a deal on them!!

Terry-I had heard the curtain one B4-Loved it both times;) And the other made me shed a little tear-shame on you mister for the early crying...

I hate spring forward day-I know that means we are getting closer to the good time of the year, but I hate that my clock said 9 something this am, but it was really 10 something:(

Mary-my 1st trip into Disney wasn't til I was 30-we went to the one in CA since we lived only about 4 hrs away-then after 3 days we drove up the PCH to Monterey, stayed the night and then went on to Napa-if I have one word of advice for anyone-the PCH is gorgeous, but do NOT drive it at night!! Is was scary as all bejesus!!! Sharp turns, no other cars, no cell phone reception, clifs on one side of the car, water death below-and you couldn't see a darn thing!!

LADIES AND TERRY-WALMART also has the giant pickle jars-you just have to find where they have the supersize stuff-you know-the mayo and ketchup and stuff-my mom gets that jar every 2 weeks at walmart:) Just an FYI-they are like $3-5 each depending on where you live...

Glenview, IL

Good morning!

Wow, I was awakened at about 3:30 or 4:30 this AM...Rain, rain and more rain.
So was going to whooo, whooo you all on the night shift, lol...but i got side tracked.

Wandered through all the threads, i watch..stumbled onto the Emma story and have been reading since!
Well, read for couple of hours and then back to bed and back to reading Emma!
What a great story...I am determined to finish it to current sometime today.

Anyway, thought I would take a break and say Good morning, hello and have a wonderful day.

Liz, wow, Steve will just love ya to pieces. Thank you. Well, i hope the visit today will be good. less drama.
ah,ha dh building your squirrell house, man i wish Steve would build mine. Asked him where my jig saw was and yep if you guess, it is in his truck! So will have to make him share, lol-wish me luck with that.

Betty, too funny, They should know me well at JoAnns, and a few do, lol told them i should get a job there since I am there almost everyday. And LOL, I did get some material. You know just for (rainy) days. Washing it right now.

Oh Speaking of material...Anjl, Thank you! Received my fat quarters (washing those too) OIh my gosh, you know what, I have three of the same material you chose!! LOL, great minds think alike. Beautiful choices, thank you again.

Ok, since it is just r a i n i n g, we are going to do some cooking this afternoon. For now I am just snuggled in a blankie and reading.

Hope you are all enjoying your days and staying dry.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Hmmmm....forgot with warm weather tornadoes come, too. And we are under a tornado warning. Mother Nature sure is playing with us these days.

Floor mat looks great Betty. It really does match my colors, and might become my next project. But I am hoping that by the time I finish all my ongoing cold weather projects, I will be outside in the gardens, and not inside working on projects. I am also anxious to move my plants all outside, but that'll be a couple more months, I guess, particularly the houseplants.

Sure glad I don't have a schedule to keep with this time change. It always takes me a long time to adapt to it.

Morning all.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All;

Sharran - I didn't read the book ....but now that I know there is one...I will definitely have to get it... :) (Secret life of Bee's)

Trisha - I've only been to Disneyland once, Disneyworld....I've lost count (16-17 times?)....

But I do remember as a small child living in California, and Mom taking us to the Beach, and the road was just as you described....I was terrified!

Please be careful with the inclement weather.

It's supposed to be sunny here....but we've had a few clouds drift through. DH & I headed to the nursery....we'll probably plant the vegetable garden today....

Have the tomatoes....need some green peppers, cukes, etc.

Back probably with the "Night Shift"....

Hugs,
Mary
Baton Rouge, LA

Victoria Harbour, ON

Shar, omg surely not a tornado, is it makig you nervous?
Been sitting on a little corner of the couch (kitties do take up a lot of room and I don't want to disturb them) looking outside..sure a lot of cleaning to do come spring..keep thinking how will I ever have the energy to do so?

Mary good luck with your veggie plant purchases..hope you find a couple of flower plants to go with it..

Lyndonville, NY

I forgot to say last night we had horrible thunder and lightening, something we never get this time of year. Had to shut the computer down....was quite nasty out with the heavy rains. This morning, the waterfall looks like it belongs to Willie Wonka, looks like chocolate milk with foam!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Tubby they're perennials. Those things are so hearty and multiply like rodents, when I originally planted them, before I knew anything about DG and plants altogether, I just poke my finger in the dirt to make a hole, drop a seed or two in, and cover them up. They are sooo hearty you can let the seeds fall to the ground, dig up the plants, and they'll come up next spring after a winter of snow, ice, and whatever else the winter brings.

http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/57594/

Yup, went out last night, got home at 3:40am (new time.) That's a normal night out for us.

Well yesterday ended up being a very busy day, but not doing exactly what I wanted to do, but what needed to be done.

I was in here typing to ya'll about what I was going to do yesterday and my neighbors across the street got into a fight. They're new there and he's the one who came over and got Dave all worried that he might try to break into our house at night when I'm home and he's at work, well I got nosy and went out on the front porch to listen. She was screaming "I don't give a &^*% about you, just Get OUT NOW! My house is foreclosing and You have to leave!" She must have said that about 10 times and I heard a car door shut, so I ran back into the house. Looked out the front window and it was the Land Lord yelling at the man! OMG! So I texted my next door neighbor (the wife), and went out to weed. Next thing I know my next door neighbor's home and comes over to talk to me. We ended up doing a lot of work together on this Pompous Grass on the property line. It's supposed to be cleaned out every year, but hasn't been done in at least 4 years, here's the picture from last August.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Mary-that was me my dear, not Trisha!!LOL I wanted to go for my 30th-got a ton of pics-will have to post a link!!LOL

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Here's what we did yesterday. Took us about 6 hours and we were just going to rake as much of the thatch out that we could, had no intentions of taking it this far.

Thumbnail by crissyr
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I guess what happened with the neighbors across the street:

he man and girlfriend were outside talking yesterday when we were out there and I guess they haven't paid rent in 3 months, in other words they've never paid rent since they moved in. The Landlord, a very very nasty woman, went over and the man said he wasn't going to pay rent because he was fixing up the trailer. She told him she needed $900.00 now, which wouldn't get them caught up but it would keep them living there, he told her they don't have $900.00 and can't pay, she would just have to wait. That's when she went off, so I guess they'll be moving. This may be mean, but Yay!

Pacifica, CA

crissy, oh happy days for you! not to have to worry about that anymore.

judy, tell him hmmmm lets see its 3.00 there so he better get to it or i just might have to oooppps forgot to mail lemmons tomorrow lol
actually she was fairly calm only said once or twice i call every day and dont say anything
then asked kenny if im always crabby, then she moved on to world events, im mentally exausted! even for that short of a time lol,
so i thought i was headed back home, to make squirrel feeder no siree dh had another idea, wanted to go to car dealership and look at acura tl's omg! needless to say running a credit check will let him know tomorrow, so now he is napping then feeder ahh whats a few more minutes! as i pace the floors ok off to be productive..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, omg let's hope they move..it's like watching a drama on t.v. isn't it? That pompous grass is beautiful..was looking at the brilliant green and thought wow doesn't take long for her grass to get vibrant green then you posted 2nd photo...it's invasive is it..would made a nice border if you were trying to hide something..i.e. like the neighbors...

Judy, didn't you give him the what for..best you engrave your tools so they don't go missing...still raining?

Liz, thought your vehicles were fairly new? DH wants to help the economy right? is he still driving truck..

Know Liz when we get crabby, start not liking ourselves..first sign..some days I can't even stand me..not now, but have felt that way..lol...just ask my kids..

Bought the Marketeers the other day, sales item magazine of the area...told Suzanne about an above pool being sold, she just dropped in, she and Lenny purchased it, will pick it up come spring, then she had more good news, Danielle (niece) has an offer on her house and has just put an offer on another home...that's exciting for them..2nd home in less than 2 years...she wanted me to go out for supper with my MIL and SIL but I've got paint from one end of the craft room to the other, best I finish this project...

temps are dropping had to turn up furnace...

Glenview, IL

OH Man...

Shar are you ok? Hope the weather has gotten better out your way.

Too funny Liz, I don't know DH went off shopping so no cooking which was just perfectly fine with me!

I am so bummed, my project is not only taking way longer then I expected but now i somehow shorted myself on this one piece!!
I am so frustrated i just wanna cry...so throwing my hands up in the air. Grumblin and rumblin and swearing,
LOL guess you can say I am having temper trantrum over it. Grrrr, ahrrr....

Hands on the hips, in the air and any where else I can toss them today.

Heavy sigh, Liz have a nevermind for me. I am going to go study whats left see what I can coordinate.
Well, glad it wasn't too bad for you.

Betty, LOL, yep going to have to check his truck for my tools.
Finally the rains have stopped. We got a waterfall down the stairs and through the window, sigh.
But hey that means its Spring!!

Crissy, Wow, you did lots of work, looking good!
So does your porch Betty, soon you'll be able to sit out there again.

ok, be back in a bit, calming my nerves....

Oh Stacey, wanted to say...If you Iron the 6 yards just be sure to fold as you go, works well.

bye.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

No worries, Judy, Betty...
High winds, major thunderstorm, but then it passed and the robins are splashing in the 4 puddles left behind, and sun is streaming in my windows. I haven't had the heat on in a week but it is 75 in the house today. So I have windows open.

Cut back my butterfly bush this morning, beside my driveway and I fight it every time I get out of my car. Of course I have a double driveway, but do I park on the far side, no, I park right beside the b'fly bush. It needed trimming anyway.

I think after the horrendous ice storm, Betty, I will never again be afraid of a thunderstorm or tornado. I will be respectful of them, but not afraid to be alone during them. (I think, I hope) The ice storm was the worst thing I have been through, but then I think fire would be much worse than that was.

I realized sometime a while ago that I had not eaten today, so fixed a pasta broccoli thing with parmesan sauce...now the hunger has passed and that doesn't sound good to me...maybe it'll freeze, and I'll fix a salad. I need to plan better menus for myself. I am anxious for fresh veggies.

So pictures are rehung, and I can now see the top of my dining table...first time in 3 weeks, I think. I can't believe the mess I made, but since it was only me to see it, didn't matter. My studio is good, except for my one table in there, too. Things accumulate on tables.

Bet Mary planted garden stuff already....and I am craving it already. I do have grape tomatoes and salad greens so that'll have to do.

Hope your day was good.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

My happy days just went down the toilet. My awesome next door neighbors are getting a divorce. She has an attorney and will more than likely file this week, and the fight is on for the house, but she can't afford it without roommates and we live out in the country, which means that he can't either and all of his friends are deadbeat alcoholics. So if anyone knows anyone who wants to rent a room out in the country on an acre of land with an awesome person let me know.

Victoria Harbour, ON

How tragic Crissy..it's overwhelming to lose friends, especially great neighbors..did you have an ingling that things were not right? This isn't the neighbor is it that you wanted to visit but was not sure a 'drop in' would be ok..

Calling it a night, lordy I'm tired..
Didn't finish the matt, all basecoated and blocked, but the fern and leaf design needs to be done, it can wait until next weekend..Monday & Thursday nights painting in Barrie, Wedn. here so that only gives me Tuesday night to catch up on much deserved R&R

Must go get dog food and kittie litter next door..

Hope you've all enjoyed your day, sunshine/rain or snow...
Guess a day is what you make it right?

night/night

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All!

Night Owl Time! Whoooo Whoooo !

Sharran - I'm so glad the bad weather passed over you. Hurricane Gustav was the most fearful storm I went through, and now have a healthy respect for weather...

Crissy - I can't understand from your email if it's the bad neighbors that are going to stay? Hopefully not. Well who knows what can happen, it sounds like a lot of drama for now...

Stacey - I think I've called you Trisha twice now. I apologize!

I planted 4 tomatoes today. DH says we have to wait a week or so for green peppers. I also planted lavendar. Was looking for Sweet Basil but didn't find one I liked...

Betty - How's it coming on the Washington DC Trip? Hopefully you've found a place to stay...the week is coming up soon!

Hugs to all - Be back soon,

Mary
Baton Rouge, LA

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

No, the bad neighbors are going to have to leave if they're 3 months behind on rent. My good neighbors are going to be getting a divorce and hopefully she'll be able to keep the house, but since they're in their mid 20s it not likely, unless she can get a roommate or two. She was really down about it this evening saying there's no way she can stay because there's no way anyone will rent a room out here in the country, which I don't believe that.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hey Crissy - well maybe you can help her be resourceful...

She's down and just not open to thinking of options. Sure - some folks like the country...like maybe an older retired lady who wants some room to garden, and gets a SSN check or something...

Who knows....

Hello to All - What veggies do you plant every year? Sharran? Stacey, Trisha, Anjl? (if any)

I love cukes, but we had so many last year, I ended up looking for cucumber recipes....(after giving tons away).

Would like more green peppers this year....

Hugs,
Mary

Whooohooooo...this year it's gonna be heirloom tomatoes, Can't wait!!
And peppers, cukes, and usually beans, hoping for some Ky half runners.
Sometimes lettuce, but usually have to plant for the rabbits, too.

And I always have lots of herbs.

Since it is just for me, it'll be really small this time.

Garage Door

The boss walked into the office one morning not knowing his zipper was down and his fly area wide open. His assistant walked up to him and said, 'This morning when you left your house, did you close your garage door?' The boss told her he knew he'd closed the garage door, and walked into his office puzzled by the question.

As he finished his paperwork, he suddenly noticed his fly was open, and zipped it up. He then understood his assistant's question about his 'garage door.'

He headed out for a cup of coffee and paused by her desk to ask, 'When my garage door was open, did you see my Hummer parked in there?'

She smiled and said, 'No, I didn't. All I saw was an old mini van with two flat tires.'

Hello All;

Sharran - we planted 3 varieties today...but not heirloom...I'll have to look for those. We have space for more...

Beans? Are those Green Beans? I thought Lettuce was a winter veggie...but maybe it is here but not there. I've never been to Kentucky...what is it like there?

I love herbs...of course I'm a beginner, but last year...I planted a Sweet Basil that became one of my fav plants till Hurricane Gustav knocked it down. It was four feet tall!

Also Marjoram, Greek Oregano, Parsley, Chives, and DH planted Rosemary which is huge now. and the Lavendar which died but I planted more today.

Peppermint- in an area that DH could mow down should it become invasive. The Sage & THyme I killed...perhaps too hot & humid for those here...I planted more THyme last week but it doesn't look good.
