Mary later tonight when I can't sleep I will tell you about KY....gotta finish some laundry right now.
Yes, green beans. Lettuce should have been sown here in February, but my yard was covered with limbs/ branches then...so not sure about that right now. Maybe.
More later, and since you work tomorrow, maybe you can wait and read it after, but I will tell you about KY.
Crissy...sorry about all your neighbor problems. Tough when that happens.
Best/Worse/What did I learnt today...visit with friends #91
LOL Mary she needs someone in their mid 20's that's not allergic to cats or afraid of big dogs.
Eggplant, Onions and Radishes I would like....In fact ...just put Radishes on a list. Reminds me of Mom...She always said have kids plant Marigolds and Radishes to get them 'into' gardening... I guess b'c instant gratification.....Mom- always the Teacher (Like you Sharran!)
Mom & Dad grew so many green beans growing up and canned them....we always knew if the end of the world came...we'd have plenty of green beans!
Sharran - my 'bedtime' tonight is 11pm. And I must be strict with myself about that. But if you can squeeze something in that's great...if not - I'll read back tomorrow night. :)
Crissy - okay - so maybe someone with a kid and has child support, and a "stay at home business". LOL. I don't know...I am just one of those people that think there's always some kind of perfect solution out there...
DH & I have this dream, I think, where at some point we become one of those old folks that buy an RV, paint a pic of the United States on it, and color in the states as we go!
Crissy - I know Arkansas has some really cool places to visit....I ordered the visitors packet a few years back, and a local lady found a huge diamond in Arkansas recently - saw it on the news. That was one of the places we had considered...
Hugs to all - I'll be up for at least 45 minutes...
Mary
Baton Rouge, LA
Mary,
not sure if I can tell you about KY in such a short time, but I'll try.
In the far eastern part where I grew up, there are lots and lots of mountains. That's where I learned about plants and gardening. I loved it there, very beautiful during all seasons.
Lived in Louisville for about 10 years and that was my urban experience...loved it too, but then I usually am happy wherever I am. I didn't garden much, because that's when I was first teaching, but I always had flowers.
In the early 70's my husband was transferred here, and I thought I had come to the end of the world. It is in the far western part of the state, and not near a large city except Nashville which is still about 100 miles away. But this place is really good in that we are surrounded by lakes and rivers, and except for the crazy ice storm that nearly wiped us out, our weather is pretty moderate. Our last frost is said to be early April, but usually earlier than that. And I usually still have something blooming in November, last year I had sweet williams on the Thanksgiving table. So it is a great place for plants. I miss my mountains, but I love the lakes.
This is a tourist area in the summer, and it is a fairly wealthy county, well managed anyway, with a nice tax base because of the industry along the rivers. I can grow just about anything, including some tropicals, which are not really supposed to grow here. When hubby died suddenly almost two years ago, I considered going back "home" either to the mountains (400 miles away) or back to Louisville (200 miles from me), but I have so many friends here, and a good place to live and garden, I decided to just stay for awhile, and not make any big changes. I am a zone away from Louisville and the mountains anyway, since I am farther west and slightly farther south. And now I am accustomed to the area, and do love it.
So it depends on whether you want mountains or the rolling horse country of Lexington and Louisville or the flatlands where I am in west KY...there's something for everybody, I guess.
So did I cover everything??
I was going to suggest the same thing to Chrissy about her neighbor...an older woman with a retirement or pension. Guess that's not what she is looking for, though. But it would be security for sure.
Hey Sharran;
I would love to drive through there. (In my big RV with DH one day when we retire). :)
Sounds like you have good times there with the lakes....and mountains to the east. :) ?
I hope to visit there soon. What happened that your DH passed away so suddenly? I am sorry to ask but I am curious to know... That must have been hard for you. I am lucky to have found my husband because it was later in life that I found him....and we are perfect for each other. He has a High Blood Pressure problem and I try to protect him because I surely don't want to lose him anytime soon. But he has had a stressful life....with the girls.
He is awesome and I wouldn't trade him for anything. :)
NIght NIght!

Drats, after working off/on all day on back deck, feeling of spring in the air, wake up this morning to a snow storm...not nice..Mother Nature sure enjoys playing at this time of year!
Much to do this morning! Must get things together for the portrait session tonight..late/late night for me..hope I don't fall asleep in the class...
Doubt I'll have a computer to access until 11am this morning, gave me wrong tower so someone has to go back to the city and exchange it..NOT ME! don't need another bobo on my car..weather not the greatest for travelling..I'll try to talk the girls into going..Suzanne leave at 11 for apt. in Toronto, other end of city though so she can't go, but, I can use her machine..
I'll gab then and respond to your posts..so enjoyed them..hey, when I get home at 11:00 tonight I might be able to join in for a bit..
Nope Liz, did not finish the floormat..have to change 1 of the square color, too close to same color on the matt, also thought I might stencil odd little leaf here and there (not sure about that) and wonder if I add more leaves to border??? don't have to make decision right now..
DO KNOW, I'm not that fond of it..too busy for me..Suzanne said yesterday it was same colors as what she needs..we'll see, maybe under the table it will look ok..
Must run, animals to feed, snow to clear from vehicle and walkways...
Morning Bev, Linda Kay..omg I'm the only one here so on LeeAnn's computer..everyone running late due to ice storm..hidden by snow storm..lol..
Let mine run for 20 minutes, at least got ice off windows, car completely covered yet..sun is trying to come out, oh happy days..maybe I'll go to the city after all...
Talk later..
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANJL!!!!!!!!!!
It's just that she's so young I don't think a retired anyone would work, especially with a very young Rot, dogs going to be harmless but big. The Bichon is cool because it doesn't shed. Cats are cats lol, either love them or hate them, Little Man is pretty cool, and a smaller aquarium with a few fish.
I'm happy about the icky neighbors moving out, and sad that the good neighbors are probably going to move as well. Well, at least one of them is, as long as one of them stays, hopefully her because I don't want to live next door to a drunk.
Good morning!
Happy Birthday AnnMarie!! hope the day is full of love and laughter.
OK, so decided this morning i am going to rip out and replace. LOL, it's Back to JoAnns to replace the fabric i will need to place in the right place.

OMG, Liz, we were just a swimming here yesterday. Suns out nice and strong to soak up all this wet.

But, Betty, rather it be rain then snow, yikes and yow, bet you just loved seeing that this morning.
Well, I like your mat, Thought it came out real nice.
Going to scoot, need more coffee!
Shoot forgot to get my phone from Jake, looks like I am going to start hounding for the new phone.
Other then that nothing new, just reading, sewing...

Oh yea, I'm alright. We were just laughing, half the office is running late because they didn't move their clocks ahead LOL!
Has anyone ever forgot to change their clocks and showed up either late or early for work?
Please say prayers for my 12 yr old GD Terri. She tried to get out of bed this morning and her neck cracked and she couldn't move. She is in ER as we speack. Thanks BEV

Thoughts and prayers for your granddaughter Bev...
Good morning all.
Hope your day is good.
dragonfly62 T & P for Terri.Wow that would be scary
Hoping to hear good news soon
Her mother just called and she pulled the muscles in her neck so pain meds and heat and cold and out of school for couple days. Thanks all LOVE BEV
So glad to hear - prayers still go for a speedy recovery
Bev so good to hear she will be okay! Winter sowed some of the seeds you sent me!
I am so excited....the huge city trucks have been out all morning gathering the piles of debris from the curbside in front of our houses on this street....terrible noise to wake up to, but it will be nice to not have to drive through the tunnel of limbs to get to my house. And it will be nice to be able to see across the street for a change. My neighbor across from me is well over 6 feet tall, and the piles are much taller than he is. We all felt sort of smothered when we were in the street trying to get to our driveways.
Bev, that is such good news, and I am sorry she will be in pain, but not for long, I hope.
Robins are out all over the place, and the grass is very green, sunshine looks promising, so I might just find myself outside most of today. Won't that be fun!
That sounds like good news.just a little stiff.
My grass is starting to green up, about half way there.
I am so glad that she just has a very minor problem and will be back to normal in a couple of days. I'm hoping it heals faster than they say it will.
Oh yay! You have a lot of debris from all of that ice damage.
Sure did, and they have been working for about 2 hours. Almost half of it is gone now. Yayy.
Yay, Good news all around.
Will keep her in thoughts and prayers for speedy recovery Bev.
Thoughts and prayers for your DGD Dragonfly...how scary for all of you.
Happy birthday Anjl....have wonderful day!
Tubby, I love planter boxes. I have a big front porch and try and put them up yearly, but those adorable little gray squirrels don't like the way I plant them and rearrange ...and hide their nuts there. It keeps me entertained if nothing else.
Woke up to Snow this morning.....Sage was not happy.....said she was NOT walking home from school in the snow! Got news for her, this is the last day this year that she walks home from school period. Laura and I are doing the kitchen/bath floors and the downstairs windows while we wai for the carpet cleaners to finish up, then I do not have to see that house again...PTL!!!!
Had sun for a little bit, now it is snowing again.....I guess we are supposed to get showers off and on through out the day:(
Bev, glad to hear the granddaughter is going to be okay....my son in law was at the ER last night with neck and back pain.....as I suspected it was stress induced....this move ins driving him crazy and he is, as Laura says, "a stress monkey". We have got to get that boy on some kind of anti stress medication!!
Happy Birthday AnnMarie!!!!
trhose are cool little pavers:)
Tubby, those are very nice. Your Sister is a good painter.
