Hi Jaye Would you believe I have a window OPEN and listening to the snow MELT off the roof????? Finally a day warm enough to listen!! I'm thrilled.
How is your day going? My shoulder would be screaming from all that ironing. I too wash before using although my quilt shop says the fabrics today don't need it. The only thing I don't wash are the little pieces of material that I get with my Blocks of the Month.
If I washed them there would be nothing left!!!
Can I be in line for the housecleaner next?
Maion - down to two weeks!!!! Well, almost......

LOL I'll copy write it!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Bj, where are you? You still playing with the bricks?
it is time for a break. Make some tea or something.
LK

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Hi, LK... I was here earlier, but wasn't here long enough to write anything. Had to help Don with the bridge he's building... he's now putting the cross boards on it... and it's looking more like a bridge today.
AND I have been out laying out some of the bricks on the ground to decide what pattern we're going to like. Actually... I'm renting a skid loader this weekend to excavate the walk way... nobody wants to shovel, and I can't blame them... Then, I've got the man that owns the business that I got the pavers from (my neighbor) to come give me a bid to do the actual laying of the pathway... with all the curves it's going to have, I'm afraid it'll look like &!^% if I did it myself. Plus, while his crew is here, he's going to give me a bid on having the little short wall I want built in the secret garden... it'll allow me to have a level section in the middle, with slopes on each side... kind of terraced.
I think they can do it all in one day.

I've also been out trying to get some weeds out of some of the flower beds... found some really really dry dirt... so, I asked Don if the sprinklers have been coming on in the mornings (since I'm not up and out in time to see it happen before daylight)... Well, he tells me the sprinklers aren't working... and I proceeded to hit the roof. Wonder how I'm going to get any seeds to germinate without the sprinklers?... I was livid. So, tomorrow... no matter what... he's got to get the sprinklers fixed. He says that there isn't enough pressure at the pump to pull it up out of the lake... ok, since he knows what it is... he HAS to fix it... right NOW.

I also hand carried water in the water can to all the new plants I put in the ground. Some of them even have buds on them, so I added some liquid fertilizer to the water.

Basically... I've been kind of busy with some piddling stuff.

and now I'm going to piddle some more.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Bj, that sounds like you are very busy, and it will all be so nice when you get it done. A bridge, a path, a new wall in the secret garden! Whew, I get tired, just reading it all.
Take care.

LK

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Just re read what I wrote... and I got tired reading it too, LK.

I also found another ant bed, but stripped the gloves and shoes and socks before they got me too bad... I think I'll go get the bucket of ant granules and walk the yard.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'm sure she'd be passing you a shovel if you're close by LK!! Lolol.. BJ plays with anything with clay or mud in it!!

Barb, that must be a beautiful sound to you!!! Snow melting.. and soon you'll be able to play outside!
The only ones I don't wash are the pre cut Moda stuffs, like Jelly Rolls. I had posted earlier about having found some sales, then deleted it..
Used to work for a textile plant.. from the making of the thread... to the weaving of the fabric.. right up to dyeing and drying. Maybe that's why I still pre-wash before quilting.

My noisemaker just calls and suggested fish and chips at Dagwood's tonight. Don't think I can refuse that!

Niece, have you recovered yet from your uncle's choice of FQs?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Envy those with early spring :(
Oh make it soon here..

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Jaye I am ready for spring too....sun is out between showers but the wind is blowing and feels a lot colder than it is...

Popped home to have lunch with Bill then back to Laura's to sort stuff to go to the rummage sale.....her MIL just showed up so we should make major progress this afternoon.
The guys are over working on their floor at the new house now, so maybe soon they will be where they can relax for awhile.....don't know what DSIL will do if he can't be a stress monkey, but would be nice to find out. At least they had a good time at the concert last night.

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Whew BJ that sounds like a busy morning / afternoon.. We want to see pictures now remember..

I too have had spring weather and Max and I have been taking full advantage today.. Tristen even called to come home from school saying she was sick (she wanted to see daddy) and played outside with us.. I papered and mulched (love re-bagged mulch) 2 beds (one on each side of the entrance to the nursery) and trimmed back all the dead foilage and it finally is starting to look nice again eveen though everythng is still brown from the freezes.. Continued on weeding my ever ending (grass driveway) bed and am almost to the end of it finally,,, But I broke my 3 finger tool .. grrrrcleaned the crud out of my poor unfitered lil pond.. lol It was sooooo grosss.. Max cleaned up along the fence and pulle dout a few plants that were killed off by the big bad maple we love to hate on th eproperty line..

Its been a very busy day.. Still more to go..
Be Back later

OK-so is the concensus then that maybe the cheaper fabrics should be washed and the higher thread count ones don't really need to be-I am still confuddled and don't want to mess things up by cutting and then mad that I didn't prewash...

Jaye-I LOVE THEM!!! If I would known about the wine one, I woulda said to get enough for some placemats!!LOL Not waht I expected though-I for some reason expected B & W;) And the piece of the black fabric left over from the B&W swap will be part of my quilt for the fairy room!! I love it even more in person!!

OK Everyone-guess which one is my fave??

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Lolol!!
Those were picked up at the quilt show. He figured, being your DH is a cook, you might appreciate the one with wine. Only thing I picked up was the blueish purple green checks. I picked up three of that, so Tante Marion can have one for her FQs purple collection. THat colour should called bluple!!!
Moi, I love the blueberries. Let me see.. it's the one with the butterflies that you like?
Was out of stuffing materials, so used the paper towels instead :D I had donated most of my mags to the library after reading, except for those Christmas ones. Maybe you can get a few ideas.

Not bad...woodsy and faery like... if you like that fabric, grab it.

Stacey that's a tough guess since I don't know you that well, but I'll tell you the ones I like:

I think a wine quilt complete with grapes and grape leaf border would be very cool. Love the glasses and bottles and grapes

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Stacey, those are all beautiful fabric.
To be on the safe side, I would wash all fabrics. I am like Jaye, I wash and iron all fabrics, to get rid of the sizing, and iron to get a true cut. If you don't iron it, it will not be a true measurement!
All the measurements will be off.

LK

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

LK-you never guessed which is my fave??

Tante-DH & I both LOVE wine-Napa is one of our fave places-if I had my way we would retire there!!

BTW-you both are wrong on my faves;)

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I think it's the purple and orange squares, reminds Stacey of her favorite holiday, Halloween? Am I right?

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

OH? Halloween isn't your fav? Um I thought it was :(

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

nope-Xmas-then Halloween...

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I just ran across this sauce recipe on the back of a package of frozen broccoli... it's to die for, and I have to share it with you.
Put the following in a cassarole dish
4 tblsp of butter
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup milk
salt and pepper to taste (I used about 1 tsp of each)
and chopped almonds (recipe said sliced almonds, but I wasn't going to stand there and slice them, and all I had was whole almonds, so I just put them in my nut chopper)

Microwave that till it all melts (took me 2 minutes)... stir vigorously to cream them together... then add steamed broccoli and fold to combine.
I then put it back in the microwave for another minute to make sure it was good and hot.
I bet it would be good on fresh green beans too, or any green veggie.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

That sounds good!!! Can you tell I am starving right now?

Can't decide what it wants to do around here today....sun, rain, wind, sun.....a few snowflakes.....sun....rain......a very confused day.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Stacey, I would ALWAYS wash and iron for a project on Dave's, too! And if I had material that looked like it would run, I'd wash it! None if mine look like that!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Stacey, I said I liked the wine, don't know you good enough to guess it lol!

Napa is very very pretty and elegant. I'd retire there if I could too, but I need to make just a little more money lol! I guess now that the market is pure crap there now would be the time to buy a house there. I wonder what the prices are down to?

Coushatta, LA

Hello everyone!!!!

Thanks LK and Trisha.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Been a long day, so I will callit quits as well. Stacey, I love the fabric you found on ebay! Very pretty. I was going to guess the butterfly fabric, but I would have been wrong!
Good night everyone.
Sleep tight!

Nite nite LK.

Good night everyone!!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Niece, looks like you'd pretty soon build up a quilt stash!!! Love anything by Timeless Treasure and Michael Miller.
I buy Moda Jelly Rolls off eBay. Much cheaper than quilt stores.

Never been to Napa.. my sister did.. she loved it.. but she's a wino!!! Lol!!

Ooh Trisha.. it's confusing this week too. Temperature's been dropping the past few days, warm up to the 70's the next few days, then come Thursday of the next week.. down to the 50's!!!! Lord have mercy! I am so ready to PLANT something!!!

BJ, that recipe looks so easy. I have some provolone and pecans. Broccoli is my favorite vege. Love it steamed or stir fried. Thanks for the recipe.

It was a fabulous dinner at Damon's instead of Dagwood's. We both had prime rib, end cut.. and Kel had some baby back ribs on the side. He had given me extra units of insulin, cause I was craving for a good dessert. The house special was a cheese cake a la creme brulee!! Fantastic!!
I had decided on the last minute change of plans to start celebrating his birthday.

Glued to the telly when we returned. Watched CSI and Survivor which we had taped.

Hi Cody.. hope your day went well today. I bet you can't wait till Saturday's here :D

I'm gonna head for bed now.. cya'll tomorrow..

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Jaye, dinner sounds wonderful!!!! Prime rib is one of my very favorite things in the whole world!!! Now if I just had that with BJ's broccoli recipe I would be in heaven....way off my diet, but in heaven!!

Night Cody....

Hi Jaye,i think we are going to wait until next week to go.

nite nite Trisha.

Raleigh, NC

I'm here! detoxing/decompressing after the stress of the trip. Can't sleep, so thought I'd say a quick "Morning Glory!" to all.

BJ was the best medicine after my trip anyone could have asked for. Mike's a sweetie, Don's an industrious builder-machine doll, and BJ was just wonderful. She wouldn't let me change (have to fly in business clothes) but she let me weed some Bermuda out from under two plants. That outdoor room of hers is so peaceful I'd like to move in. - uhm, BJ, I think I left that frappacino out there, but then I was going to finish it and give you the bottle anyway! But she saw me at my worst, all stressed and sleep deprived, and I have the runs of the mouth, punchy, when I'm like that. She gave me a wonderful light lunch (((perfect!!!!))) and even a bead lesson afterwards.

I got lost getting there 00 saw some wonderful near ghetto parts of industrial side of Dallas......so we didn't have as much time as we would have liked. next time I'll plan for more. She says I missed a real treat not seeing mibus and taters (Phyllis and Linday Kay) there will be a next time, I feel sure.

now lets see if I can sleep some.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Well Bonnie I can understand getting lost is easy to do when you aren't used to an area.

Now if you are traveling come May we are having our East Texas RU on the 16th...which anyone is welcome to come to if they are this way
and of course there is always Memorial day weekend at BJ's coming up and I am planning on being there and I think Linda is too.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Bon, So glad to got to meet Bj. She is a very sweet lady!!!
Phyllis, you have a great day at work.
Coffee is on. Please help yourself! English muffins with your choice of spread. Jelly, peanut butter or even cheese!
LK

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Donna. Sounds like you have your day all cut out for you? Don't over do it.
And thanks again for the gardenia plants. They are very nice healthy plants indeed! Are they easy to root from cuttings?

LK

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Morning my Sistahs.

Just a quick one, but I wanted to give you an update.
Mom did good at the surgeons yesterday. They took out the 24 staples. He wants to see her one more time and since she has an appointment with her other surgeon next Thursday, they made it for the same day. She can ride in a car now, so she's happy about that. Bowels have seemed to calm down and she is getting stronger all the time. Still no appetite though.

Exercise in 45 minutes! Have a great day all!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Morning Ladies !!!

Mmmm... Blueberry muffins... I won't tell Don, he won't leave any for anyone else..

Bonnie... if you were at your worse, I don't want to meet you at your best... you'd be PERFECT, and then I'd have felt too intimidated to like you. I really enjoyed your visit, though, just like you were. And how special was it that you went to all that trouble to come visit me? Got a LONG lay over, rent a car, drive all the way out here... to spend just 4 hours to visit with lil ole me... then turn around and drive all the way back to catch your plane. I feel so special that you did all that.
AND she said NOTHING about all the messes in my house.

Well, today I get to find out what it's going to cost me to lay my walkway... and I'm already on Don to fix the sprinklers. He's finishing up the bridge first... then the sprinklers... he promised.

LOL... our weatherman on Fox actually said to get out an plant something this weekend... and to fertilize our yards... so, he must know that winter is over... if we get another freeze, wonder if I can sue? LOL

More coffee.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning BJ, don't work yourself or Don too hard. Can't wait to see the new bridge, walkway, and secret garden!

LK
