LK

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Isn't that inspiring LK?? Imagine, her first quilt and she follows her heart when it comes to colours.. and they all go so well together.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I don't know how cold the rest of the country is.. but temperature's dropping here!!! Wished I had made soup today.
At least it's not snowing!!

Well, gonna read for a bit..

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Stay warm.

LK

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Her quilt is beautiful!!

So Tante-are you telling me I can leave my clothes wrinkly, but I will have to break down and iron the fabric for quilts!!LOL What about like wrinkle releaser!!LOL JK-I know, I know....

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

I told Rick I need a new ironing board.

Glenview, IL

Hi Jaye!!

Well, I sure am thanking you for thinking of me.
Been missing everyone, but I've just not been myself as of late.
Feeling kind of out of it, just plain old icky so been laying low.

...BJ, sure enjoyed your visit with Bonjon. So sweet.

Jaye, got your d-mail couple days ago, Thank you...will be checking out the book store.

Debra, enjoyed your photo...yep you should be mighty proud and happy !!!

Waving hi to all...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Hi everyone! Love the quilt Debra!

Jaye I'm not sure my dad appreciates it, he's so passive and into his own thing I know he wouldn't have thought about it. He deals with her inability of letting go very well.

I'm cold, coughing my lungs up, so going to go throw a blanket over me and do some embroidery. Have a wonderful evening everyone! I go to the dr tomorrow for the follow up to find out what's wrong with my guts, now that it's completely gone! LOL!

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Debra your quilt is Beautiful.. So inspiring.. I really need a sewing machine.. uggghhh

Stacy.. o Stacy... Im beginning to work on your templates again but am going to go ahead and mail you the ones I have done..

Jaye.. I refused to drive the old truck with it out (power steering) and begged him to take a walk with me and the dogs to get Tristen from school.. He did and we had a great time.. Tristen was thrilled and both of th egirls did very well on their walk only scaring a few kids (they just dont like dogs) and they wanted to play with everyone.. We got home and he went out and fixed the truck and went to the store to get air bubbles out of the lines so it didnt act up on me tomorrow.. Will mail your goodies on Monday..

LK well 81 degrees is nice.. we have patchy frost tonight and it froze last night.. Starting to warm up this week again though.. Just waiting I cant wait to get out and play planting some more..

Good night everyone. Hope you are all feeling better in the morning!

LK

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I have a confession to make. I don't prewash my fabrics unless I'm doing a block for the quilt forum! Never have! They always do well for me. Just lucky, I guess!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Rise and shine. Coffee is served! Waffles will be done to order.

LK

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

I'm up. How's everybody?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Deborah. I am doing fine today. I am going to work out in the garden, I have some gardenia's I need to get potted, and some dahlia bulbs as well. Oh I bought some of those topsy turvy tomato hangers for my Dad, so we are going to play with them today as well.
And you?
LK

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm here, too. I have a day off from running from Mom and Dad. I'm hoping for a walk with my neighbor and maybe a little gardening if the weather holds.

Bertie (my neighbor) and I went to the home show yesterday. It was much smaller than last year and the Marketplace was about half the size. One of my favorite nurseries that is usually there selling wasn't even there. :O(

We saw the neatest fern that I haven't seen in any of our nurseries but the guy said they are hardy here. It was a rock fern. Smallish and full. I loved it. Do any of you see that fern where you are? Another thing I saw I really liked was a boxwood I haven't seen before. Maybe it's been around, and I just didn't notice. It was way softer than most boxwoods. It was "Mountain" something. I loved it. Anyway, it was a fun girls day out!

Loved your quilt Debra....beautiful job!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Joyce. How is your Mom doing?
I am not familiar with ferns at all, so I can't help you there. Sorry.
Glad to hear you had a good time at the garden show. Sounds like tough times are even hitting the shows?

LK

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Yes, that's what Bertie and I thought as well. Tough times everywhere..

My mom is doing so well...I had to stop over last night at the TCU and help with some paperwork she needed for today. She goes to see one of her surgeons. They are taking her by ambulette so she said I didn't need to go with them. She has been dressing and the physical therapist has been working with her. She's been walking the halls and I can tell she feels soooo much better. She hasn't said anything about wanting to go home yet, so she's still not up to par, but she is definitely on the mend. Thanks for asking LK...^_^

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Morning All,

There are some ferns that grow wild in the forest around here. I've dug some up in the past and they do not do well. They like living in the forest, lol.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Joyce-so glad to hear it!!!

You know Audrey-I have heard that from a few others as well-that as long as all the fabrics are the same type, that washing 1st isn't really necessary-but I do know that some are particular and would definitely do it if I joined a swap here on DG

Donna-no worries-I can't get to cutting until the weather warms anyway...Bella is so adorable-getting big too!!!

I have to start scheduling my days-adding structure to them-as it is I just kinda go from one thing to another aimlessly and have been spending a lot of time reading-I realized I had only read a couple books since we moved in here and that has been 2 years!! I love reading-losing myself in a book-I found an author that I had never read B4 and have bought 4 of her books in the last 2 weeks and have read them all in about 24 hrs each!!LOL So I found a lot of her books on Ebay for cheap and got them-can't wait for them to get here so I can devour those as well!!

I need to go grocery shopping today, and need to vacuum, then tomorrow I have someplace to go and will probably start cutting my blocks-shouldn't take to long for the reg blocks, but the prints will take longer as I want to get the best pic in each one-hence the templates:) Plus I am making 2 mini quilts-maybe 3-just like mine to send to some Gmas I know;)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Stacey, so glad to hear your getting into the quilting fun!
When your done with shopping and cleaning, you can come and do my place next! LOL

LK

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Morning everyone! Sage is in having breakfast...waiting for dad to come take her to school. Was a late night due to visitation and the Club Swap Meet...then having to do homework (grandpa helped while I got dinner). But she got right up and is all ready to go. Been a lot of years since I have had to be to get little ones to school.....myself yes, but not little ones! And a first! She Asked me to put her hair up in a ponytail!!! No battle.....maybe she does not wt the butch cut I have been threatening her with...lol !

They are supposed to be over to fix the bath floor at Laura's in about 15 minutes!! Now maybe they can get settled in. Didn't make it over yesterday so I don't know just what is left to do at the old house...I think it is mostly the dump run and cleaning at this point.

Joyce, glad to hear things are going better with your folks.

Waving LK, Deborah and Cindy~~~~~~

Where is everyone this morning?

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Yeah rigth LK-I keep putting what I need to do here off!!LOL I need to make a list of all I ant to accomplish and then set a schedule for every day-that way I will get something accomplished!!LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I think we all do that. Make a list of things to do, and get side tracked so easy! Like making crafts, or planting new plants, or seeds...
Housework can wait!

LK

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Happy morning all!

Kinda fell asleep on my book last night.. and my body went into a deep slumber.

Cookie, so good to read that your mum's getting better. Seems her spirits are up too.. that's definitely good news.

Hiya Judy. You're falling victim to the cruds too?? Or just one of those inexplicable hormonal things we women go through? Get well sistah.. missing your cheery self.

No Synda, you don't need an ironing board. You need Rick to send out the ironing or teach him to iron his!!!

Hi Deborah.. more cleaning today? Between you and Stacey.. all that cleaning makes me tired :D

Got a lot of ferns here too Cindy. I had dug some out for my gf to grow them in Tenn. and they didn't survive. Must be because they prefer the wild environment.

Crissy, at least the doctor will confirm you're henceforth fully healed from an ailing tummy!

Lolol Trisha!!! Apparently Sage knows how to look pretty!! I once was given a butch haircut by my mom.. not because I refused to comb my hair, but to keep me cool.. and I cried for days, cause I got teased at school!!
Poor Laura, her anxiety level must be pretty high.. hope her house will be in order soon.

You know what LK.. niece... When I quit my job, I always say I need a schedule for just that.. a routine.. to get the house in order.. do stuffs that I had put aside because of work.. Well, years later.. the house is still in disarray, but I'm picking up the 'luxuries' (Crafts, gardening, reading) that once I didn't have the time to do..

Hmm ... this has been a great debate still amongst the quilters..
Pre-wash or not to pre-wash.. that's all a matter of personal preference.
I do prewash.. been doing it for years.
1. I can't stand ironing fabrics that do have the chemical finish and sizings on them. (More gunk for the needle to pierce through)
2. The rate of shrinkage of two different fabrics or different brands.. different thread counts.. will affect the final appearance of the quilt. (Had seen quilts not pre-washed, and after the first washing, it's all out of sorts.. puckered..)
3. Once upon a time, some color runs. Especially the reds. Not willing to do a quilt then a wash later, seeing the color bleeds..

So.. it's a matter of preference. I'm not willing to take a chance of having a quilt after hours of working, turned into a disaster. Not counting the dollars spent.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Remeber what Synda said......

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm with you LK, but I don't really have any excuse right now. I'm hoping to get out Saturday and so some garden cleanup. It is supposed to be 68*. Can't wait.

Tink, what author are you reading? Have you read any Janet Evanovich's books??? She's a hoot. Love her...

Okay, must do something constructive....maybe I'll do the list..... :O)

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh crap....I didn't know that....evil, huh???? Well, okay, then....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good morning everyone!!

Went to the dr for my follow up appt, all the tests came out perfect, so I don't know what's wrong with me, but I am a lot better than I was so if it comes back I'll go back. He thinks it's a virus, he said some intestinal viruses can take 6 to 8 weeks to go away. I hope that's what it is.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I used to read Janet Evanovich.. I agree.. she's a hoot!!
Lolol.. yep, housework should be considered evil!! But then, you don't want the dust bunnies to taks over!!
Wow that long, Crissy? So, the best thing is to 'crap' it out, instead of holding it back with otc meds...

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Crissy glad the test turned out well.....we will hope he is right and that this is all going away....

Unfortunately my Evil Housework is NOT going away so guess I should try and catch up a bit since I will be out of town most of tomorrow.

Sun is out for awhile.....lot of showers coming through and it is only supposed to get into the forties today....guess I will just stay in and be warm.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Like this one?

Thumbnail by zhinusmom
TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Lol Trisha!!! How long did it took you to imagine that one and then create it..

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Need a breather! I totally agree with Jaye about he pre-washing of fabric for quilting--making clothes too for that matter. Once it has happened to you then you will do it forever. Same with red embroidery threads!! Yuck after hours of work.

Bright and sunny but with a nip in the air here. I want to play outside but alas I am still chained to editing and sending our yet more vendor packets.

Miss you ladies!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Miss you too Marion

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

LOL....not long Jaye, the idea is from a polymer clay magazine.....it takes maybe half an hour to put him together to the baking stage, and a minute to glue on the "Dust" !

Getting breezy out, the dog is back hiding in the hall again:(

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I'm glad too. My mom said that when her gallbladder went kapoot she was having problems like that, she'd go in for tests, all come out perfect, problem would go away, then a few months later it would come back, go for tests, all come out perfect, it would go away, until finally after dealing with this off and on for about 2 years the thing finally quit working. It was that dr who said it's pretty common for a gall bladder to do that until it finally quits altogether. I hope that's not what mine is doing!

You know Trisha, I've been asking my house to clean itself and it just won't do it! I don't understand why???

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Maid M.. hope it's soon you'd be able to come out and play here!!! Goodness... you do need help.. how many vendors do you have??

Hi Barb!

Trisha, for a start, Kel bought a box of "Sculpey" for me to play around with. It's expensive!!! I'm afraid to try!! Lol!!! Think I can handle globs...

When you found the magic chant for your house to self clean, Crissy, market it.. you'd be an instant idol!!
