Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #89

OMG Trisha, that's just too adorable..the story of the napkin and monkey? he must treasure your friendship and know deep within that he is loved for who he is...

Stacey, how would you ever get sewing in with a schedule like you and Janice had...was looking through the marketeer, a 'buy seel and trade with' magazine that comes out monthly..saw an add for T & G which says 50% off allfabrics during March Madness so we'll have to take a run into town won't we? Either of those weekends will be ok..what we should do is plan for the 20th and if it's stormy then we can plan for the 27th...how's that?

I must go in back storage in plastic bin, did you find the dahlia quilt pattern, I'm almost sure I've got one unless I gave it away..will see how easy it is to access tonight when I get home..or did you find it...mine was in pretty pinks..progressed in plain to print rows of the flower...

Funny & safe??
The Waiter and the Spoon
I took some friends out to dinner last week, and I noticed a spoon in the shirt pocket of our waiter as he handed us the menus. It seemed a little odd, but I dismissed it as a random thing. Until our busboy came with water & tableware; he, too, sported a spoon in his breast-pocket. I looked around the room and all the waiters, waitresses, busboys, etc. had spoons in their pockets.
When our waiter returned to take our order, I just had to ask, "Why the spoons?"
"Well," he explained, "our parent company recently hired some Andersen Consulting efficiency experts to review all our procedures and after months of statistical analyses, they concluded that our patrons drop spoons on the floor 73% more often than any other utensil at a frequency of 3 spoons per hour per workstation. By preparing all our workers for this contingency in advance, we can cut our trips to the kitchen down and save time...nearly 1.5 extra man hours per shift."
Just as he concluded, a "ch-ching" came from the table behind him, and he quickly replaced a fallen spoon with the one from his pocket. "I'll grab another spoon the next time I'm in the kitchen instead of making a special trip," he proudly explained.
I was impressed. "Thanks. I had to ask." "No problem," he answered, then he continued to take our orders. As the members of my dinner party took their turns, my eyes darted back & forth from each person ordering and my menu. That's when, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a thin, black thread protruding from our waiter's fly. Again, I dismissed it; yet I had to scan the room and, sure enough, there were other waiters & busboys with strings hanging out there were other waiters & busboys with strings hanging out of their trousers.
My curiosity overrode discretion at this point, so before he could leave I had to ask. "Excuse me, but...uh...why, or what...about that string?" "Oh, yeah," he began in a quieter tone. "Not many people are that observant. That same efficiency group found we could save time in the Men's room, too." "How's that?" .. "You see, by tying a string to the end of our, eh, selves, we can pull it out at the urinals literally hands-free and thereby eliminate the need to wash our hands, cutting time spent in the restroom by over 93%!"
"Oh, that makes sense," I said, but then thinking thru the process, I asked, "Hey, wait-a-minute. If the string helps you pull it out, how do you get it back in?"
"Well," he whispered, "I don't know about the other guys; but I use my spoon.

Just got back from lunch..don't you just love it when you try a new restaurant and the food is fabulous, so you go back and it's not eatable...guess I'd best cook something for myself tonight...

I'm just so excited, I'm in a 'where you live' swap, must be mailed out by Friday..anyway, there is something my area is known for, in order to get it I'd have to wait a few weeks...lord and behold I thought of a friend who can provide it, meeting him in Hillsdale after work to get it..so my swap will be sent out on-time

Yes we love Ronnie......he brought me a beautiful postcard of an old barn out in the middle of a field. I commented on how beautiful I thought the barn was.....Ronnie looked around then whispered to me "But don't go there at night, the Owl People live there...."!

Betty, Oh I can hardly wait to see what everyone gets.....I wanted to do the where you live swap but with the new pay schedule, mom's surgery and Laura's move it just wasn't in the cards this time. Make sure everyone posts lots of pictures!!

Well I wouldn't get too excited about what I got, is significant to my area though..will make sure there is plenty of photo's..here I was fretting because I was several weeks away from when it's in it's prime, luckily talking to Bernie he mentioned John Hill's name and I went DAH how I didn't think of my friend Johnny...lol...

I can understand budget restraints..not so much what you make or purchase, it's the shipping that's the problem..costly.. I'll just be in mega trouble if mine breaks..lol

Trisha how is the move going? still living out of 2 places..Laura (and you of course) must be totally zonked...
