Oh - Yes - Pandora went from Natalie Merchant to Stevie NIcks...I am TRULY in love....good call!

Enough gab.Goodnight All
Great Call ! I love it! Keep me posted Anjl & Crissy on American Idol tomorrow night..I will be at Band Booster meeting....
Night Tubby......there is no life without our furry people.....!
DH called, will be here in five...about time, I am starving!
Oh Tubby, that's fine....I didn't mean to offend you, it's just that I never commented on them, and didn't want you to think I was ignoring you. Put a funny face at the top of the funny ones ^_^ so that I'll know to read them......but not the blond ones, OK?? And I did love the pictures of you and your family, your wife and your girls...also of all the construction. I sure wish you lived nearer! I'd have a list of stuff for you. I really want a green house, or even just a sunroom.....guess I'll just keep on dreaming.
I love dogs too, but with this worn out back of mine, it would not be fair for a dog to live with me. I could not walk him like he needs to be walked and live in a neighborhood where there are no fences. So I just have the two cats.
Good grief, Trisha, how can you wait so long to eat? Well, I guess it is not that late for you is it? I loved the landscape in your picture earlier, and that glorious rainbow! Oh wow.
We have not heard from Audrey in a while.
Liz, you and Judy are such whirlwinds. I can't even keep up with you, nor would I try.
A good nite story ..
Sharran one for your side.
NINE WORDS WOMEN USE
(1) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
(2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
(3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.
(4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!
(5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)
(6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
(7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome' . that will bring on a 'whatever').
(8) Whatever: Is a woman's way of saying You Dummy
(9) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to # 3.
Tubby...that is perfect...you just won the good prize for the evening.
Thank you.
And I am so glad you understand women.
We have spent most of our lives in the Bicycle Industry.....did a lot of over seas travel by the time we would get through with meetings it would be late...if it was with the clients from Spain it would be ten or later.....they would show up for 9 am meetings around noon. Then here with DH's work/class schedule he never gets in until between 7:30 and 9:00 just a habit we got into. One of the reasons I am here with the late group....we are up until 12 or 1 most nights, his workplace opens at 10 am so we don't have to be up at the crack of dawn unless we want to.....I get my eight hours.....it's just what you get used to.
Morning all, wow, the ambiance on the night shift is far better than the day shift...OMG you'd all laugh, I woke just after 3am..couldn't sleep, got into a movie about Parkinson Disease..a woman Millie who helped her hubby out of alcoholism and he ended up supporting her through to her final days..did much in fundraising for parkinsons, during last 10 minutes of the show Michael J. Fox was on it...thought I should come downstairs and gab with you all but, changed my mind as I'd probably be up half the night gabbing..
But oh what fun I had this morning with you all, guess you are alltucked into bed though aren't you, sleeping soundly while I start my morning....
Judy, glad we talked last night...
It's bitter cold out there this morning, must start my car and let it warm up for 10-15 minutes, get the garbage to the roadside so must go for now

Two Choices
What would you do?....you make the choice. Don't look for a punch line, there isn't one. Read it anyway. My question is: Would you have made the same choice?
At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves children with learning disabilities, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school
and its
dedicated staff, he offered a question:
'When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does, is done with perfection.
Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do.
Where is the natural order of things in my son?'
The audience was stilled by the query.
The father continued. 'I believe that when a child like Shay, who was mentally and physically disabled comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child.'
Then he told the following story:
Shay and I had walked past a=2 0park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, 'Do you think they'll let me play?' I knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but as a father I also understood that if my son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.
I approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, 'We're losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning.'
Shay struggled over to the team's bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt. I watched with a small tear in my eye and warmth in my heart. The boys saw my joy at my son being accepted.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three.
In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as I waved to him from the stands.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again.
Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.
=0 A
At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game?
Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.
However, as Shay stepped up to the
plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay's life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact.
The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed.
The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay.
As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher.
The game would now be over.
The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman.
Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game.
Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman's head, out of reach of all team mates.
Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, 'Shay, run to first!
Run to first!'
Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base.
He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled.
Everyone yelled, 'Run to second, run to second!'
Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base.
B y the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball . the smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team.
He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher's intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman's head.
Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home.
All were screaming, 'Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay'
Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, 'Run to third!
Shay, run to third!'
As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, 'Shay, run home! Run home!'
Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team
'That day', said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, 'the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world'.
Shay didn't make it to another summer. He died that winter, having never forgotten being the hero and making me so happy, and coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day!
AND NOW A LITTLE FOOT NOTE TO THIS STORY:
We all have thousands of opportunities every single day to help realize the 'natural order of things.'
So many seemingly trivial interactions between two people present us with a choice:
Do we pass along a little spark of love and humanity or do we pass up those opportunities and leave the world a little bit colder in the process?
A wise man once said every society is judged by how it treats it's least fortunate amongst them.
May your day, be a Shay Day.
You are right - tissues. May your day be a Shay day too. Thank you.
Now a funny one..It's a clean one girls
Why Parents Drink
A Mother passing by her son's bedroom
was astonished to see that his bed was nicely made and everything was
picked up.
Then she saw an envelope, propped up
prominently on the pillow that was addressed to 'Mom' With the worst
premonition she opened the envelope with trembling hands and read the
letter.
Dear Mom:
It is with great regret and sorrow
that I'm writing you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend because I
wanted to avoid a scene with Dad and you. I have been finding real
passion with Stacy and she is so nice. But I knew you would not
approve of her because of all her piercings, tattoos, tight
motorcycle clothes and the fact that she is much older than I am. But
it's not only the passion... Mom she's pregnant. Stacy said that we
will be very happy. She owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack
of firewood for the whole winter. We share a dream of having many
more children.
Stacy has opened my eyes to the fact
that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone. We'll be growing it for
ourselves and trading it with the other people that live nearby for
cocaine and ecstasy. In the meantime we will pray that science will
find a cure for AIDS so Stacy can get better. She deserves it. Don't
worry Mom. I'm 15 and I know how to take care of myself. Someday I'm
sure that we will be back to visit so that you can get to know your
grandchildren.
Love,
Your Son Paul
P.S. Mom, none of the above is true.
I'm over at Dustin's house. I just wanted to remind you that there
are worse things in life than the report card that's in my center
desk drawer.
I love you.
Call me when it's safe to come home.
That would be something my son would do! He is still sporting his "pink" hair, and has an appt. late this afternoon to get it fixed properly. LOL He does not like my idea to keep it til Easter and be an Easter Egg. He gave me the "look" along with "I am not amused".
Morning All...
Thank you Tubby!!!!
Actually, Betty...we all listened to Pandora last night, and just enjoyed the sound and the company....nice late night snacks, too.
Hope all is well with everybody today.
LOL That's hilarious! After that comment I bet he goes natural.
Have a Shay Day everyone! That one was definitely a tear jerker, whew!
That's a great one Terry!
Betty when I find an envelope around here to mail your seeds in I'll send them to you. If you want more just let me know, I have a bag full of them.
I think I'm part of the morning, afternoon, and night shifts LOL
OHHH Tubby I did bring out the tissues...tears running down my cheeks..it reminded me of a story..on the back concession was a family of about 10..mom and dad had a child in their late years, Brenda was mentally challenged..I would say she was about 10 years or so older than my boys...because of her disability and again it was about 30 years ago and in the country, they basically kept her hidden...when she was about 12 her parents passed on..her sister who was abour 2 years older than she and lived next door, built a basement apartment and moved her in..from that she was exposed to the human race.. she was enrolled in arc industries when she was about 17 - bus would pick her up, she'd assist in making municipal signs-baseball t-shirt printing and various other jobs .. this firm employed about 30 handicapped children..she would earn a wage each week and be proud as can be..
On Friday nights as Rec. Director I ran 'teen dances' probably abour 100 to 150 area children...the nights that I would make an appearance I was always in awe..most of the dance the boys would be on one side/girls on the other, some brave youth would be dancing....if you remember those days, you'll also remember how many trips to the washroom you'd make just so you could strutt your stuff/put on lipstic (which had to come off before going home) all the while making sure you were picture perfect... to amy amazement, these teens girls would take Brenda to the washroom, fix her hair, do her nails and always made her feel part of their group..the boys, who one would think would never let the queen of the ball sit on a chair and ask Brenda to dance DID, that young woman danced more than all of the girls put together...she beamed and I felt so proud of those children for doing so...
She loved to come to the house, Greg and Jeff would take her for a boat ride, or in winter snowmobile ride, they'd all ride their bikes to town, I'd do crafts with her....she never knocked, just walked in and made herself at home..loved to visit the refrigerator..lol...
As the boys grew older they always found time for Brenda..to this date they still see her from time to time..there is a little cafe near where we lived and the boys often bring their children for Sunday breakfast and there is Brenda, there to greet them..
She still lives with her sister, no young chick - probably in her 50's..each and every Easter she gets a new bike from funds she's made..she picks up beer bottles, my goodness I've seen her as far as 30 miles from home on that bike..she goes to the Dollar store and pick's up wood items and sells the product...cross stitches coaster...do I have coaster..once you purchase one your on the list for forever..so funny, she's a con artist..she'll just call and say 'your 6 coasters you wanted in another color are ready' I just don't have the heart to say no, nor does Aline, Darlene and the rest of the girls...
She rides her bike spring/summer/fall from morning till night 7 days a week..we often worried that someone would take advantage of her, but everyone within miles/miles know Brenda..am sure she's safe...
These children are special and a gift to all...
crissyr Hi I would like to send you SASBE for some of those seeds..If you have enough
I was digging around in my archives.. I remembered the story of Shay..Wouldn't it have been something see in person..Of course you can only hope it was a true story .I have a niece like shay.Calls me Tubby Tubby Terry. So cute.Always a smile..

Betty, that is the sweetest story. Thank you.
So many kids like that were mainstreamed into my classes, and i always loved to get them because usually there was that one special thing they could do with their hands, and most of the time I dug till I found it.
Crissy would love some seeds, as you know I've many gardens..will be fun having flowers sent in form of seeds from yours...
Shar, we've been listening to same music link for years now..always just the right music for the feeling of the day!
Last night when talking to Caleb and Braedon who called to wish me a Happy Birthday, their mother Lisa didn't come to the telephone, she was busy with the baby..so no reply for their joining me in Washington next month..will send Jeff an e-mail and ask for a reply..
Caleb was excited as can be..he won the 'Chess' tournament yesterday..6 area schools participated and he won his class...Roger and Jeff played Chess all the time, guess Jeff has been teaching him...he was just so proud..
Braedon is 1 game short for the hockey finals..think the game it tomorrow, so must call and check out how he's made out...
Busy/busy here this morning, well not realy, but I had 4 contacts to make, booked 3 the other I left a message to call me...anyway, the 3 booking I made took no longer than 9:30 - 1/2 hr. work and Wayne is fully booked for an entire day because of it..that's how it works..my personality plus and compassion brings them in..now don't you believe that..just a joshing..
Debbie, how are you feeling today? hopefully some news will come today..I can just see you kidding around with your son..has he regretted getting it colored? Know when Kyle and Noah got the mohawk cut, Noah loved the attention, but Kyle wore a hat, didn't like being made fun of by other children/adults....
Drats typed an entire novel and it's now into cyberspace..Paul has to return this computer and get another...keeps shutting itself down...
Barbara (Quilter5bdsr) welcome from all of us..have seen by your interests are that you love to quilt, read and your grandchildren...I'm sure by now you know we love to joke, we're a loving, campasionate group..hope you find us interesting enough to stay, wether the morning or the night shift..lol
Shar, I can just see you at work with those children when you were teaching, bringing out the 'uniqueness' (?) of each child..guess that's why I loved working as Recreation Co-ordinator..loved providing programs for the children and seniors the best..
Did get to talk to Judy last night...ooops she gave me a 'to do' job..I'm to go through my photo's and fill those dozens of frames that sit on mantle, quilt rack, book case etc. - not one has a 'real' photo in them...so that's my next big adventure..lol
Crissy I'm looking forward to the seeds...only worked on the DG friendship garden late in the season, now I must focus on that area of the yard..and, look at all the mileage signs I have to add to the post..perhaps have to add more posts..
Going to press send just incase this computer shuts down again..
Thank you Betty - that sure is a warm welcome. I've been following your thread for a while and couldn't let your birthday go by without a hello and best wishes. I do love my quilting and I look forward to jumping in now and then.. Off for a haircut. Soon.......
Hope you do..Jeannine and now Judy/Janice/Stacey/Audrey all love to work on quilts and Shar, we'll no need for her to do so..lol...she has a cupboard full of antique quilts that she was left 'guardianship' of... I assume because you on D.G. you love to garden...can you share?
Terry, LOL you don't have to pay me back, I grew these last year and they have to be deadheaded about 7 times in the summer so I have plenty. Plus they're perennials so I'm going to have a bunch more here pretty soon. By the time fall came last year I was deadheaded out and just let them go to seed and drop on the ground. These things are very, very hearty. I only planted one packet of seeds, which I think cost a buck and have enough for 20 flowerbeds. I even threw some seeds out behind the house on the property line, plus left the plants that had gone to seed and I hadn't deadheaded out there. then a big Chicory tree fell on them so I don't know if they're going to come up or not.
Drats Betty and Terry, we're out of envelopes here at work. I have to go to Target and get gas at lunch anyway, I'll pick up some so I can send some seeds to Terry also, they'll go out in the mail tomorrow.
Does anyone else want some of these seeds? I'll be happy to send them to you.
I have a funny!!!!!
I rear-ended a car this morning. So, there we were alongside the road and slowly the other driver got out of his car. You know how sometimes you just get soooo stressed and little things just seem funny? Yeah, well I couldn't believe it.... He was a DWARF!!!
He stormed over to my car, looked up at me, and shouted, "I AM NOT HAPPY!!!"
So, I looked down at him and said, "Well, then which one are you?"
OMG Crissy, was eating a cherry cheesecake and just spit half of it out..was going to say "OMG, no..hope you are ok" lol
I'm excited about the seeds Crissy....tks..just want I want something that grows/grows..I'll scatter some at back of property line as well..
Have any of you ever purchased 'backyard living' magazine..I've been getting it for 2 seasons..absolutely thrilled when I get it..
There was a magazine in the mail last night, took it to bed with me, that's what we old folks on our own do, bring gardening books to bed with us..lol anyway there was a letter saying: 'we wish there were more people like you. Alot more. Let me explain.
This is my last subscription issue..no longer going into print..says I'll be Birds & Blooms in exchange..but last week I got notification and I had to call a number to say which book I wanted..did pick Better Homes and Gardens...would rather have Birds & Blooms so who knows what I will end up with...
When ready there was an interesting article..this book is always so full of tips..going to miss receiving it..
want the tip..
drats, going to press' send' every 20 minutes or so computer shuts down, so best be safe than sorry and my post go bye/bye
What kind of seeds Crissy?
LK

Powdery Mildew Brew - Article written by Pat Kerr of Fraserville, Ontario
Early season, before the disease attacks, chop a couple of rhubarb leaves and cover them with boiling water. When this 'tea' cools, strain and it's ready to spray on susceptible plants in the garden...handle leaves with care as they are poisonous...
OH/OH, now she tells me, me who plays with rhubbarb leaves each year making at least 50 walking rhubbarb leave stones...guess I'd better start wearing gloves, or does she mean, don't drink the 'tea'?

Terry and Betty-I loved both stories and cried buckets during each of them. Always my motto has been and will always be "stand up for those that can't or won't stand up for themselves" and if we are granted children one day, that will be the motto I pass on. I am saddened when I see someone in a wheelchair or with a handicap that others avoid or stare at. I always flash a sincere smile and feel it all the way to my heart and let that shine through and ask them how they are today. I am always the one while at the grocery store that helps the Grandma's with their groceries.....just small acts of kindness warm my heart for the rest of the day:)
Mom always laughs at me as I say that I love old people!!LOL She says that not a lot pf people can appreciate them and maybe that should be my next job. I had more fun when at Gpa's hanging out with his friends and gabbing then most anything else:)
Thank goodness Stacey you said you love old people and help with their groceries, thank goodness...you'll come in handy on your visit here, I can shop to my hearts content now that I know I'll not have to carry anything...just kidding...love doing same Stacey..Lord willing we'll all be there one day..
Am almost sure I told this story before but perhaps I'll tell it again for the 'newbies'...
As Co-ordinator I attended a seniors conference in Ottawa dealing with programming for the aged..
One of the sessions was to see what it would be like attending let's say a craft class when you are older..
We were given dark sunglasses, put ear plugs in our ears and gave us rubber finger stalls and then proceeded at a pace that we normally would teach to see how we enjoyed our experience..can tell you we didn't AND it taught us a great lesson....try it one day..
I have to get some more coffee, then will tell you all about my wonderful weekend:)
Looking forward to hearing about it Stacey...any idea which weekend this month you are thinking of coming??? keeping in mind of course road conditions and storms..
Betty-Either the 20th or 27th..if those are OK....
So I got to Mom's on Friday afternoon and the first place we had to go was her fabric store after we ate lunch....Oh my-it was fabulous!! Jaye had told me I would be able to tell the difference between good fabric and so so fabric and boy was she right-it was a lot like the difference in thread counts of sheets....I could have spent sooooo much $$ in there!! Saw so many I loved!! But I was good as I am broke!!LOL I got a little bit of fabric as a gift, then I got some B & W fabric from the sale rack, the flower fairy from the sale rack and a batik for the back of my rag quilt from the sale rack-when I found the spider mum print, I knew it had to be part of the B & W quilt for the fairy room!!! THe edging is what I am thinking:) I had to laugh as it seemed that every time I turned around there was a lady that worked there following us-so I asked her and we all had a good chuckle!! From there we went to Michaels, I had a couple things to get, and then went to Joann's where I found the mock smock material by the inch to make a little dress for me and the muslin for and insulator layer for the rag quilt. They had their Olfa cutting tools on sale, so I got a little kit with the mat and 2 rotary cutters-1 reg size and one smaller for curves....
We went to dinner at this place called Buddy's that has the BEST onion rings!! So excited!! I did not sleep well that night and was up by like 7am....so I made myself at home and got on DG while waiting for Mom to get up-I read all my threads and was ready to go B4 she even had her tea!!LOL We went to the quilt shop again as I wanted to look at the pattern for the dahlia quilt and wanted to make a purse they had....so we spent forever looking for material for the purse, found what I wanted and got something to make a template for cutting the material for the rag quilt, and went to WM-got a lip ruler for me like I wanted and a clasp for the purse....
Went to the orchid show-can't wait for Mom to show you all her pics that I took!! Made friends with one of the judges and her & I talked as I took pics.....Went to look at the orchids for sale and of course got one-my 1st Phalaenopsis-mericlone from Oak Hill Gardens. When I got it, I asked the guy if he would write his # on the info in case I had any other ??'s as this was my 1st orchid-I meant the company # and I think he thought I meant his personal one!!LOL Was kinda funny when I realized what he thought!!LOL We also got some really neat ones made from a Japanese clay that a man was selling-sooo cute-Mom will have to take a pic of hers too and I will mine to post-I guess this clay is more flexible-he dropped one and it didn't even crack!! Then we went to the MSU dairy store and there was a nice young man behind us that I made friends with and he helped Mom with her purchase:) We ate and then went back home to Mom's where she let me have some of her fabric and I practiced cutting and cut my templates and Mom made my dress:)
The next am we got up and went to a 10:50am show-we saw Taken-I really liked it-LOVE Liam Neisen (sp?) and then went to lunch-then I came home-very eventful weekend!!
Morning..afternoon to most of you.....
Loved the stories.......We have worked at the store where my DH is now for all except about 10 years since the early seventies.... we had a young boy used to hang around the shop all the time during the early eighties....if we worked late at night Ronnie would scale the outside of the building and come in the open upstairs window where we were working "to keep us company". He has been in and out of the state mental hospital all of his life. Ronnie loves to go shopping and will bring things to the shop to share with everyone....they often have a large selection of pork and beans, a bag of sugar, dog food for the dogs that come to the shop. He is a very sweet man...he used to often bring in wonderful sandwiches he had made....Bill and I were the only ones who would eat them.....Ronnie is very sweet....he told my DH that we go right past his house on our bike rides....if it is hot and we want to take a shower or have a drink of water even if he isn't home the door is unlocked. One day he brought in Brownies.....he asked if Bill wanted a napkin....Bill told him no, he was okay.....Ronnie thought a minute and then asked Bill if he knew what the difference was between people and Monkeys?? When Bill said no, Ronnie looked at him and replied "Napkins". WE love Ronnie...it has taken almost thirty years but he finally calls me Trisha instead of Mrs. Stevenson.
Cute story Trisha!!
