Best/Worse/What did I learnt today...visit with friends #87

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, think you've been coming down with it for sometime..finally hitting full force, best you go get comfy in bed...or ... you'll be off a good part of the week, know Suzanne was off an entire week with it and still isn't 100%..

Wll 'tubby' you are in same boat as we...all longing for nicer weather to come...last week of February surely in March we'll be seeing sunshine, but then March can be our stormiest month..but at least we can then look forward to April..

Won't it be nice to put all our winter clothing away? long for that..got boots for shovelling, boots for the rain/mud here of the last few weeks, dress boots..boots/boots/boots!

Melanie just picked up the boys from the rink, they said they so enjoyed, thanked me..think Noah's friend was a bit overwhelmed..said his grandma did crafts and painted ..they needed bags to brings skates and gloves to the rink so I emptied a few project bags that had paint in them to give, his eyes opened the size of 50 cent pieces, so Noah brought him around the corner to show the hundreds of bottles...he said he like it here because it made him feel warm , asked him what he meant by that and he couldn't explain..one of the nicest compliments I've received...

Tubby, so nice that you help MIL out..sometimes in families it's always the same person that ends up helping out..know it was that way with my grandmother..and for MIL it seems it's always Suzanne and Lenny and their chidren as well as SIL Marg who lives with her....she has eight other children not counting my DH who died and these 2 girls..other children just too busy...

Best I be off and continue my project..needed to put clothes in the dryer and can't seem to walk by this computer without dropping in..

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

Not getting much done here. Breakfast is done. Did a few other small things. Plan on winter sowing a few seeds today and maybe starting some onion seeds. Plus a load or two of laundry. Have chili started for lunch. A cold sunny day here. High of 18 expected.

Sounds like you all are keeping busy to while away the winter. Sorry for all who are sick hope you are better real soon.

Work is still keeping me busy. Plus could get called in for jury duty. Have 2 more days to call n. Keeping fingers crossed on that one.

Yesterday Dh and I went to town. I had fun. Don;t know if he did. Went to the thrift store. Got some suede gloves and a leather purse. Was very happy with that. Went to the Greenhouse and it smelled so good. Could of spent the rest of the day there.

Liz were you throwing lemons at the raccoons? Have you thought about live trapping them and taking them elsewhere? Did they hire another person yet? Your Bottle cap jewelry is just lovely.

Jude what all are you up to? Keeping busy enough? We have a few inches of snow. How much do you have?

Betty you posted garden pictures the other day and so did Carol. Thought I would add one or two. It is feeling closer to spring!

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Betty I love the birdhouse! That is just beaufitul and would look wonderful in the yard. I love the big and fancy ones.

Victoria Harbour, ON

OH Vicki I remember wasn't it the year before last you worked so hard on that rock garden..can't believe it matured that much in one or two seasons...so pretty, please share more...you did a magnificent job..I can assume you had a bad back for some time right? just so pretty...

I'm laughing, can picture DH wanting to spend the day with you and you bringing him from store to store..they were saying on the news the other day these stores such as Value Village are the in thing right now..my cousin Linda purchases much of her wardrobe and a lot of it it new or something given to someone, not fitting, still in pkgs...wonderful buys, would imagine it's something you have to go often and get the bargains as they come in..the re-use it construction store in Barrie has manufacturers donating items..amazing what you can find there as well...

Vicki are you crossing fingers to go "for a rest" or crossing fingers 'not' to get a call?

Cathy dropped in this afternoon, was invited to her Aunt's for a meal tonight, said she had an extra 1/2 hr. to visit..well I was sewing, she said next time I'm working on projects, put a sign on the window, shucks, she was here almost 2 hrs. helping me with my project..finally told her off she goes..

Best of today.... getting the lovely birdhouse and keeping busy all day!

Worse of the day...keeping busy all day and at the end of the day not liking the project after all...

What did I learn today?...that the curtains will stay until next weekend at which time I can either put in spare bedroom or use material for curtains once the patio door is installed in that room...

So much for my break..off I go..

More garden photo's please..snowing here!

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

Betty to not get the call! LOL I did get a rest also! One of these Betty?

Ahhh it's just so pretty, love the birds...hmmm, you've a knack for garden art and placement..any ideas what I can do with that big birdcage I posted this morning..know it's a great buy but now what to do, what to do...lol

Vicki I've never been called..sounds as though it would be very interesting unless of course you got a major trial and couldn't go home for months...

Before...

This one?

Know it's missing something..perhaps some danglies or beads criss crossing..something..oh well, I tried it, no hard done, nor major expense..think only thing I spent was $35.00 on material...

Makes the room sooo dark..nice for sleeping..lol

Vicki what are the mini-yellow flowers? they seem to grow well between the rocks..need to plant something that will take hold instead of grass between the rhubbarb leave pathway I built..

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

For some reason I can't enlarge the birdcage. That happens with some pictures. Is there a spot in your secret garden for it? Find a couple of parrots to put in it. Saw some at the Green house yesterday!

Thumbnail by ves522
Victoria Harbour, ON

OHHH parrots...somewhere I was on-line not sure if it was daves garden, but someone had painted parrots, should go see if it's in my archives..

OMG you must be terribly busy as well with all that gardening to do, and yet, we look forward to all that kind of work..

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

Betty they are a little daisy type flower. They reseed every year. I don't know if I saved any seed from them. No I didn't. Will see if I have a close up of them. But I don't think so.

Getting there!

Thumbnail by ves522
Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

I didn't take a close up of them. But I have the tags in the shed! I hope. If I start out taking care of everything good. Then it is no problem later on. I have learned to be ruthless. Well most of the time! LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Very pretty, will have to go on the lookout for some..plant looks so mature that you would have though it was a perennial...do you know the name Vicki then I could make sure I either pick up a plant if we have them or get some seeds...

you were saying on your outing with DH you went to greenhouse and could have stayed there all day...that's what I've been doing on my lunch hours when I drive myself in, which I'll do tomorrow...they are getting all the plants/shrubs ready and OMG the garden decorations..you can just go wild..my living room is full of garden art I've boughten so I have to wait till weather improves and what I buy can be put directly into it's space...

Haven't been outside today except my quick trip to the garage sale and drats got that earache again...

Victoria Harbour, ON

I found that with chosing to do a 'country garden' all mishap, tall, short, bushy,slim..etc.. lol..(I'm bushy) that I do week but not as important than if I were to keep a manicured garden..Aunt Muriel has a manicured garden and I'm sure there is a foot around each plant..lol..me, within that foot would be 20 more plants..but that's ok..I make a trip from time to time to get her extra's..

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

Yep that's what is nice about that type of garden!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Was sitting looking outside and I forgot to take the tilting pots in, 2nd year in a row..was going through archives Vicki trying to find that parrot photo, think it might be on computer at work, anyway found this lovely photo...

With water restrictions last year, didn't get it as nice as years' before but still pretty, much prettier than snow caped pots I'm looking at now..lol

If you really want to lose weight weight try this.

* Read at least one funny joke everyday.
* Do something nice for someone everyday.
* Have at least a little fun everyday.
* Say something nice about someone everyday.
* Think positive thoughts all of the time.
* This will put you in the proper frame of mind to stick with the diet.
If you don't do those things you will most likely feel sorry for yourself and give up on the rest of the diet to soon for it to take effect.
* Eat only vegetable salads liberally doused with a tasty vinegar and no oil. Chew the salad at least thirty two times per mouth full.
* Eat the vinegar salad no more than 5 hours before sleeping.
* Get twenty minutes of vigorous exercise every other day.
Skip the sabbath if you are religious.
* Drink plenty of water.

Hello To All;

Yes Betty - You are absolutely right.... He will probably regret it one day....but it's just hard to force the issue...
Went to the nursery today and DH and the lady there at the nursery did say that Yes....we could get one more freeze before Spring....Hard to believe with the weather we've had lately...it was beautiful today and I cleared out a lot of leaves. Purchased a variegated lemon thyme and another celosia. We considered it and Mardi Gras today was going to be too much. We are all exhausted from everything else done. Maybe a smaller parade tomorrow night or Tuesday morning. I may go in tomorrow morning to work...... Somehow I am caught in a place where I cannot read all your responses so I will call it a night.
Hugs to all, Mary (4004) Baton Rouge, LA 8B

Betty your curtains are lovely..amazing how fast you get things done. Glad your haircut turned out ok.

Vicki..so nice to see your garden photos..

Installed a new Canon MP620 printer/scanner/copier yesterday. It makes 4x6 prints..so no more cutting the big sheets..
I don't do a lot of printing but it sure is nice to have when I want to. I do make personalized birthday cards for my family though.

Going swimming again today..nice and sunny here.

Have a good day all.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Vicki-I am glad you remembered the name-they looked almost like Mimilus which I see you have several mottled varieties of that-love the torenia too!! And would love to see which Jacobs ladder you have!! I have become pretty good with identifying by leaves-amazing since a little over 2 years ago I was a garden moron!!LOL

Betty-I am confused-are we looking at the canopy or the curtains??

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Hi Everyone! Nice garden pictures! Betty very cozy room!

Called in sick this morning. After I typed my post last night I got a fever that wouldn't go away. I took medicine and more medicine, all fever reducers, that did nothing. It wasn't very high, maybe a degree or two, and I get a fever if I get the sniffles, so I went to bed. The alarm went off at 6 and I said, "Oh there ain't no way!" I still had the fever I thought would break in the middle of the night, that's what they usually do for me. Set my phone alarm for 7:45, it went off, I called work, then left a message on Jeff's cell phone and told him I wasn't coming in but if he wanted to call me back he could, of course he hasn't. My fever broke at 9 this morning with no medicine and now I have a sinus headache. I feel better just getting rid of the stupid fever. LOL when I called work Terry asked if I was going to go to the dr, I said, "No, I'm not going anywhere but back to sleep!" My cold was actually on the local news last night, identical symptoms, and said Do Not go to the dr for it even though you feel like you're going to die, it's a virus and drs can't do anything for it. They called it something and I don't remember what it was, the something Bug.

I might be back later, I might not be, going to go recline on my couch and do some sewing.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Laura I am so glad you posted. I can only imagine what has been going on back there, even though I watch it on the news and see the pictures, it still doesn't bring in the real deal of it all, you know what I mean? There are so many families left with nothing, and the loss of loved ones, just devastating. What a good, strong person you are. More Thoughts and Prayers sent to the recovering families.

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

it has been devestating. we have lost babies, whole families, famous people you name it.
the problem was that yes, we are fire ready, we live in a country, well some of us in areas that are prone to bush fires but the drought, the weather on the day, extreme heat of 58.5c, 150km winds and fire bugs all came together to make it impossible to fight.

they we told the fire was 45kms away from them... within minutes they were engulfed. people caught in cars,,, driveways.... u name it. families found in bathtubs hands up to protect them.. thats how savage and sudden it was. whole towns just gone... its strange.

the fire was running as 1.5km per minute, no one could get out unless they left much earlier and they didnt know to leave as the thrreat wasnt that high.. then five minutes later,, they are gone.... its just like..... a bomb or something. strange. but we are a resiliant country and we rebuild. many from america,, famous people and such have donated money to help like pink, the president and such.... we wil always appreciate it.
we helped u guys on 9/11 and u were there for us... we are sister countries for sure.

as for the home front.. things are tough.. cant go into it but i will say that its bad and my DD husband may end up in jail for sometime.
the upside is i wake to my darling grandaughters smile and thats something for sure.

so, thanks for your prayers and thoughts

hugs

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Laura, Prayers still going out for you and your family. Glad to hear you found it in your heart to help those in need. A lot of us wish we were closer to donate things to the needy families! Please take care, and say hello, when you get the chance.
Linda kay
