Best/Worse/What did I learnt today...visit with friends #87
I made a post on the other 1 as you were making the new room........
Stacey, do have a crock pot..hope you don't think we'll waste time cooking..restaurant right next door...lol..and besides, while waiting for paint to dry we can be out and about..
Looking at designs to make myself a new linoleum painted carpet for underneath my table...
OMG a young fello just came in and asked if he could use the telephone, he's a student at the hairdresser that I booked appt. with for 11:30 and no one is there..he's sitting around in hopes they'll show up..probably the blizzard making them late..might worried for nothing..won't be able to get a cut - a no show on hairdresser's part..
stacey, ment to comment on i check out to all the back grounds on the sellers to even the bad marks lol, i havent had a problem yet knock on wood lol
no betty didnt have a required signature they must be holding it hostage lol
I just thought that maybe we could throw something in the crockpot in the am for dinner in the evening-you know, like pot roast or something one of the days-I don't cook much. I have these little mexican things I make, they start with hoagie rolls, and end with chicken, tomatoes, refried beans and sour cream and salsa, I make tacos, quesadillas, spaghetti, lasagne, meatloaf and crock pot creations-that is about it!!LOL I am a bnaker-DH is the cook
Stacey you don't worry about the food site of it..your responsibility is getting here in one piece, the rest, it's up to me..lol
OK back from getting hair done..
There was suppose to be a woman hairdresser, she drives from Toronto, don't I know what that's about, because of the storm she couldn't make it in..I think this young man - late 20's is from the Islands...personality plus, he decided he'd do my hair..now remember, only have 1/2 hr. for lunch so that's pushing it...we start by him taking the electric clippers to the back, if he asked me once he asked me 30 times if I was o.k. after every few cuts he'd say do you want to see..lol..guess when I was in there the other day making appt. and joking he must have taken some seriously....3 times during cutting my hair he took the towel to wipe prespiration off his brow..lol..I had indeed made him nervous although he said not when I joked with him..
I'm back, nice cut, not too short, back and sides are but an easy cut to look after..won't be long I'll be needed another perm..
So my experience was an enjoyable one...
Forgot to say, at exactly 12:00 noon I told him it was 'hoodie hoo' day, got an odd glance so explained the concept..so laughing...I am sure he is wondering if this office is for mentally challenged people...I'll go back just to re-inforce that he did a good job...
LOL-I think every office is for the mentally challenged on certain days!!LOL
Stacey, funny though, I love joking around with people, teasing..not sure everyone has same sense of humour or used to people gabbing away like I do, comfy with everyone (well almost) lol
LOL a Hoodie Hoo Day? LOL
Ok, read the thread about it, that is way fun!
It's that time of day..was on the telephone off and on for an hour or so with calls...Suzanne is now booked for Mon./Fri. just in appts I've made and Paul 1/2 day..that's what happens, when calls come in and I do assessments, might only take me but an hour or so but then the others are overun with appts.
Hope your ready
Subject: Dad
I took my dad to the mall the other day to buy some new
shoes (he is 92). We decided to grab a bite at the food
Court. I noticed he was watching a teenager sitting next
to him. The teenager had spiked hair in all different
colors: green, red, orange, and blue. My dad kept staring
at him. The teenager would look and find him staring
every time.
When the teenager had had enough, he sarcastically asked,
'What's the matter old man, never done anything wild
In your life?'
Knowing my Dad, I quickly swallowed my food so that I would
not choke on his response, knowing he would have a good one,
and in classic style he did not bat an eye in his response.
'Got drunk once, and had sex with a peacock. I was just
wondering if you were my son.'
ROFLOL..Tubby
OKAY are you ready for this LOL

Mirror, Mirror. . .
Shrek, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were all having lunch together.
Shrek said, "I've always thought that I'm the strongest, most rugged man in the world, but how can I be sure?"
Angelina Jolie added, "I'm told I'm the most gorgeous and alluring of them all, but sometimes I wonder."
Brad Pitt said, "I'm pretty sure I'm the hottest, most handsome man alive but I've never had it confirmed."
They all decided that the best way to find out if their beliefs were true was to ask the famed 'mirror, mirror on the wall' to confirm for them whether Shrek was the strongest and most rugged, Angelina Jolie was the most gorgeous and alluring, and if Brad Pitt was the hottest, most handsome. They agreed to meet again the next day for lunch to discuss their findings.
The next day Shrek strutted to the table and said, "Well, it's true. The mirror told me that I am the strongest AND most rugged man in the world.' Angelina said with a smile, "The mirror confirms, and now I know now for sure that I'm the most gorgeous AND alluring."
Brad lifted his sad, handsome face, and as a single tear ran down his cheek said ...

"Who the heck is Tubby ..ROFLOL
OK everyone...you are all busy today, guess you've all got spring type weather, for me I've made my stop at Home Depot, the sewing center, grocery store , post office and now ready for bath and jammies, hoping to stay in them (well perhaps change into different ones) all weekend..
Opened my mail box and there was a new garden magazine, that alone made me smile but then there was a card saying a parcel was waiting for me...
Liz, first of all anytime you send me something send it the cheapes was..omg I'm not work $19.00 for postage, I could almost travel to California for that, but know my heart was jumping for joy...
The Post Office staff enjoy my getting parcels as much as I do..the elderly 80 yr. old lady who takes in strays was there wanting to know if she provided food and vet services would I take in a stray dog..omg I just can't, not with the kitties and Sailor..would surely put Sailor over the edge...ok getting off track right...
When I see the parcel is from dear Liz in California and the size of the package I tell the girls I'm sure that it will be something made out of bottlecaps..now I've got their interest...so Marg hands me the scissors so I can be quick about opening the parcel, no-one is leaving the main entrance all waiting to see what's inside..a beautiful necklace..have no idea Liz where you get these miniature garden tools for them..I've never noticed miniatures like the ones you use...
Now I bet you are saying, forget the chit chat, get on with what she sent you , am I right?
Well I exhibit the necklace all are in awe..then there is a thin long box I open a corner and peak..now to me I thought it was another 4 or 5 bottle caps that I could exchange on my necklace, open the box and Marg says OMG it's a bracelet...and a bracelet it was..
ONE OF A KIND..
I can't even imagine how much patience making these personalized items must have took, by now I've got tears in my eyes, for someone to have taken this much time for me is overwhelming, but then another special birthday, my 60th. I was overwhelmed, so should not have been surprised..
For many of you who don't know the story about all my Best/Worse and What did I learn today thread friends did for me to attend my birthday, let me know and I'll tell you a story that is hard to believe....
OK/OK....
My necklace has miniature garden tools in it..
Last summer I travelled to Chicago to visit with Judy and her family knowing that our Liz from California would also be there...what a wonderful trip that was..to be with these 2 high energy ladies, took me quite a bit to calm them down..imagine them having more energy then me..
Drats..I'm off again in memory lane right but it will make sense...
The bracelet that Liz made me out of beer caps has miniatures...
In one cap is a photo of me/Liz and Judy..imagine that...another cap reflects Canada (even beaded to look like Maple leaf) the other California and another Chicago with yet another of Daves Garden
Imagine that...can't wait to dress myself up and put this personalized jewelery on..
Liz I so appreciate it..thanks you from the bottom of my heart...OMG, got to show it off for sure...
Want to see????

Tubby, you do have me laughing..lol...
And that was my laugh for the day! I loved it; shows we oldsters can still lind it when we need to.
I didn't realize how much I missed laughing until I got with you gals here on DG. Boy, was I in a rut. but now you keep me going, even if it is just when I am lurking.
Janice, best you not be lurking, been missing you..see that you are posting, does that mean yours computers are now all working? you've been working on quilts right, any to show us?
The past few days and I'm sure for the next few it's mega snow..are you getting same?
Tubby, love your jokes!
Betty...Liz..
That is truly beautiful. What a treasure!
got an X-ray done today, and they found you in my heart. The Doctor said if they took you out, I would die, because I could not live without you!!
Give this heart to every person you care about including me if you care. Try to collect 12. But, it's not easy!

Betty, so sorry to hear about your brother! will keep him in my prayers!
Still no word form the Doc, so that must be good news right?! lol!
Tubby/Terry I love the cherokee post :o) I am Native American/Scottish so, maybe I should try that with my sons?! lol!
Reminds me of a time I took my kids and my neice camping...now mind you I was a single mom at the time, so just me and four little kids. they were ages 2, 4, 7, & 9.... I absolutely love the wilderness, and camping. I asked them if they wanted to go on a night hike...but my night hikes are WITHOUT flashlights...we just all held hands and walked along, and no one is allowed to talk, we stopped every once in a while listened to see if we could hear all the forest critters that come out at night. Now, I was a bit cautious, and took a flash light just in case, also we didnt go to far from the camp sites....just enough away to hear critters, etc.
My littlest son (the 2 yr old) was really quiet during the whole 'hike' and holding my hand... when we got back to the campsite, I started getting him ready for bed and asked him what he thought of our hike... His lil eyes got really big and he said "no more dark hikes!" lolol! guess I terrified him poor lil guy!
so, maybe in a 'round about way' my kids are already men! teehee! neither of my boys are afraid of anything today! lol!
That's to every one of you!
Terry those jokes are hilarious, love them!
Betty and Liz those are so neat and pretty!
I was going to tell ya'll something and I forgot what it was. I've been doing that all day so no surprise. I didn't ask Dave if he has to work tonight ggrrrrrrrrrr. He was in bed but awake when I got home from work, then I crawled in bed and fell asleep for about 20 minutes, woke up to his coworker texting him asking if he's working tonight, I would love to answer NO! but I don't know, as of this morning when I left for work he wasn't, but he may have got a phone call from his boss today asking him to. There's one received call on his phone from an unknown number at 9am, so he talked to whoever it was. He didn't set anything out to thaw, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. He did say that Tiga was driving him nuts all day, and he wasn't able to sleep hardly at all, so that doesn't mean anything either. gggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
The love story of Ralph and Edna...
Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have. Ralph and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital. One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool. Ralph suddenly jumped into the deep end.
He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there.
Edna promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled him out. When the Head Nurse Director became aware of Edna's heroic act she immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as she now considered her to be mentally stable.
When she went to tell Edna the news she said, 'Edna, I have good news and bad news. The good news is you're being discharged, since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of the person you love. I have concluded that your act displays sound mindedness.
The bad news is, Ralph hung himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe belt right after you saved him. I am so sorry, but he's dead.'
Edna replied, 'He didn't hang himself, I put him there to dry. How soon can I go home?'
Happy Mental Health Day!
You can do your bit by remembering to send an email to an unstable friend...
Done my part!!! LOL
This is the last one tonight
An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard.
I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of.
He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head;
he then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the
hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep.
An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.
The next day he was back, greeted me in my yard, walked inside and resumed his spot in the hall and again slept for about an hour.
This continued off and on for several weeks.
Curious I pinned a note to his collar: 'I would like to find out who the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is
and ask if you are aware that almost every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.'
The next day he arrived for his nap, with a different note pinned to his collar:
'He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3 - he's trying to catch up on his sleep.
Can I come with him tomorrow?'
AMISH AND THE ELEVATOR
An Amish boy and his father were in a mall. They were amazed by almost
everything they saw, but especially by two shiny, silver walls that could move
apart and then slide back together again.
The boy asked, 'What is this, Father?'
The father (never having seen an elevator) responded, 'Son, I have never seen anything like this in my life, I don't know what it is.'
While the boy and his father were watching with amazement, a fat, old lady in a wheel chair moved up to the moving walls and pressed a button. The walls opened and the lady rolled between them into a small room. The walls closed and the boy and his father watched the small circular numbers above the walls light up sequentially. They continued to watch until it reached the last number and then the numbers began to light in the reverse order.
Finally the walls opened up again and a gorgeous, 24-year-old blonde stepped out.
The father said quietly to his son....."Go get your mother".
Hello To All;
FairyStacey - Yes - I laughed so much. Lance had to swallow much crow to not get mad over his "Mowed Over Border Grass". I can't imagine a 17 year old boy from a big city like Berlin, Germany does a whole lot of grass-mowing. :)
Betty - I have bought stuff on EBAY but I have only bought the "Buy - It- Now" stuff. Perhaps that's a way for beginners to start.... I've never been dissatisfied. I should probably practice bidding but I'm fine now with the Buy - It - Now. I primarily buy Lampe Berger Fragrance, but I've bought a lot of presents (Christmas etc) and some perfumes, etc.
I am so glad the hairdresser thing came out good. That was my prediction (from my reply way way back there) :)
Crissy - LOVE Jeff Dunham. Thing about him is he is the "Good Guy". The puppets are the "bad guys". (But then when you stop to think about it ....they are him. :) ) You are the blogger that likes American Idol as well...I dont' think you read my return message from your mention of that. But I love the show. DH & I Love Danny. So far.
Betty & Liz - the Bracelet is a very special gift. The best gift of all is the good memories and that has been captured in a way that can be with you at all times, and shared with others. How wonderful.
Well ....We took the kids to "Hairspray" the broadway play tonight at the Baton Rouge RIver Center. I only had 6 free tickets so let the kids go. It was well worth it. Brock and his date, Line - (Norwegian Exchange Student), Roxanne & Chaz. And Raquel brought a girlfriend, Lindsey. The Girls LOVED it and the guys even said it was 'pretty cool'. DH & I went to a new restaurant downtown, and stopped into a casino (LONG time since we've done that). We had a good time. The Girls reaction to the night made it all worthwhile for me. It was a good experience for them. Tomorrow we get up early and head back downtown for Baton Rouge's Spanishtown Mardi Gras Parade. We have a really good area to hang out and wait for the parade but have to get there early before they close the streets. So I packed up badmitton, a frisbee, other stuff, and we'll get some lunch & have a picnic while we're waiting. Hoping to take in a New Orleans Parade Sunday if DH and good weather permitting. :)
Hugs to all,
Mary,
Baton Rouge, LA 8B

Mary, glad the children enjoyed the broadway show "Hair" just like a mother, giving up her ticket for the joy of seeing the younger children gleam in delight..ahhh but you didn't say anything about you or DH winning at the Casino????? lol does that mean your wallet is a few dollars lighter..
Going to Mardis Gras celebrations, how I wish I were there...another year perhaps..hope the weather co-operates both for today and tomorrow .. so much organization goes into these events that you'd hate to have weather put a damper on it...
WOW, after gabbing with you all I went on e-bay, pick a few topics of course I'm interested in..when I keyed in decorative painting, hundreds of pages came up...interesting .. what did I learn from checking some of those pages out....I too should be advertising..good portion of books on sale are all sitting on my shelves..there was one page with about 20 books and think I had about 15 of them..each page much the same..
Debbie how is your MIL..will you be spending time this weekend visiting...is it Rochester she lives in? or was that hospital location..what are your plans to fill the day..only 4 hr. escape over the border to visit you know..what time is it..6:18..hey 1 hr. to pack bags, shucks could have lunch ready by noon...
AnnMarie, that is good news..miss camping with my children..living on the lake was always a camping experience, to us a trip to the city was a treat for them..CN tower, highest building in the world at that time was frightening for me and they leaned over the screened edges..being terrified of heights I clung to back wall.lol it was I who needed re-assuring..you will not be overdoing it outside with yard work today now will you?
Crissy, did DH decide to work another shift?
Shar, with regards to tree branches, has you started any garden art before the limbs dry up, guess they can always soak in the tub..have a book on twig art, must go in search and post a photo..
Enjoyed the jokes..what a way to start the morning..a smile on your face..
What in the world was I doing up at 4:30am..you'd think it would be a treat on the weekend to sleep in but no, I'm up and bushy tale..what to do/what to do..
I'm sure I'll think of something...
Be back on a break...
got an X-ray done today, and they found you in my heart. The Doctor said if they took you out, I would die, because I could not live without you!!

DAWN posted on previous thread:
I have never seen a blue pug fairy. I love Blue any kind of animals. Grey is a pretty color for a furby.
Anyone winter sowing?
I was wondering how all of your stomach thing was doing B?
Good Morning
A Kansas farm wife called the local phone company to report her
telephone failed to ring when her friends called - and that on the
few occasions, when it did ring, her dog always moaned right before the phone rang.
The telephone repairman proceeded to the scene, curious to see this psychic dog or senile lady. He climbed a telephone pole, hooked in his test set, and dialed the subscriber's house.
The phone didn't ring right away, but then the dog moaned and the
telephone began to ring.
Climbing down from the pole, the telephone repairman found:
1. The dog was tied to the telephone system's ground wire with a
steel chain and collar.
2. The wire connection to the ground rod was loose.
3. The dog was receiving 90 volts of signaling current when the
number was called.
4. After a couple of jolts, the dog would start moaning and then
urinate.
5. The wet ground would complete the circuit, thus causing the phone to ring.
Which demonstrates that some problems CAN be fixed by pi**ing and moaning.
Thought you'd like to know.
Morning Betty, and tubby.
Hope you are all doing well, and got a good nights sleep. Betty, love the necklace and bracelet you got for your Birthday! very pretty indeed. I know you will cherish them for ever.
Have a great day!
LK
Suzanne's son in law has a pug..so homely he's cute..
Dawn, I don't wintersow because of the extreme winter and snow..hear it's successful though..as you don't get frigit temps are you able to try it?
Puttering again this morning, so you can tell I don't know which direction to take my day..
Preparing 'to do' projects for Stacey's visit..
So far I've a trio candle set, will have a snowman who'se feel/arms/head are done with long dowels to stick in snow bank, then simple add a scarf and hat.., then there will be 4 victorian sleighs, then a Mr./Mrs. Claus..lol
LOL Tubby, that's cute..something we all needed to know!
Linda Kay guess you are off working in the yard..back any better? I'll be anxious to see the finished product..while working hard today think 'flowers' think shopping at nurseries but most of all think of the beauty you will see in your yard...
Stacey, if we run out of projects, here's more we can do..lol
UGGG whoever lived here before sure got a liking for bright colors..only a few walls in woodworking shop done like this, should have painted it but hey, all the walls will come down when we do that section of the house..
one shelf..
Betty-you have me cracking up today-all the projects-I don't anticipate 1 bored moment at all!!LOL Thank goodness I have a large car huh?? And actually WS is supposed to be done by us in the colder areas-true WS means that you put seeds in dirt in a container outside-holes in the top and bottom, and they get a cold stratification they need, and then germinate as they thaw-self seeding things and perennials are best:)
I love my Ruby and know that the next dog we get will be a pug from a rescue too-they have a lot of personality packed into the little dog!!
Terry-those are cute-I had read one of them B4, but the mental hospital one I had never seen-cracked me right up!!
Stacey, bored even though I've a zillion projects to undertake..decided I need bird perches for my cafe birdhouse so just going to glue them in and that's done..might even basecoat the kittie like yours, always a place for a cute feeder..talking of feeders..it's blooming cold here today but when you open the doors you can hear birds chirping..must get outside and fill the feeders..
And NO you won't be bored..lol I'm so looking forward to your visit..we had so little time to gab and get to know each other, am sure by the end of the extended weekend you'll either love me or hate me.. wow...did I say that!
Going to vacuum then I think I might just undertake that sewing project....
