Road were snow covered but not bad travelling, guess it primarily was because I followed a sander at 40kl/hr..way to go..no stress having to keep up with racing cars..

Looking around, pretty much all is done..what wasn't Cathy did when she came to let the animals out..lol..she's a lovely lady..she house cleans for a living and does not drive so a lot of walking for her, my house is usually mid stream so a good place to come in, warm up, won't say rest, because she always finds something to do...lucky me...

Brought my panel home, photo doesn't do colors justice but anyway, it's in my basement, it's in the cupboard hidding junk..will do till I decide to paint the backside more in keeping with furniture downstairs...

Put it in a vignette type photo in hopes the colors would show...if you can't plant flowers/paint flowers..lol

Quick story before I go upstairs..

This afternoon at lunch I decided to go into the beauty salon a few units from me in hopes of making an appt. for my lunch Friday to get my hair cut .. would make life so much simpler to do so from time to time...

In I go, two men, one with dreadlocks and the other, not sure of his style playing xbox..almost looked like a living room..the dreadlock guy asks me what I want, 'looking for the hairdresser' I say..walk into the suite and to the left is a room full of clothing, couldn't quite make out if it's new or slightly used, very ultra stylish, probably nothing more than a size 6..I won't be shopping there lol..so a young woman who has bright red hair, cut to ears length on one side, and down to shoulder on other side..good looking lady, not so sure about the blue/purple lipstick though comes to meet me..the young man says to book me an appt. for Friday on my lunch, she opens the appt. book which is a scribbler, checks out Friday's date and books it for me..now while riffling through the pages, there are no names of bookings, so, either not busy or no one makes appts.. there is another little room off to the side of the hairdresser station (just 1) for waxing and other things I guess..wondered at one point if I had to be 18 to frequent this establishment..

Being brave I asked the young man who probably was in mid to late 20's if he did old ladies hair..told him I didn't want to go punk rock (he laughed) said no, he would cut my hair to make me look stylish and young but not younger than 40 and gave me a grin...so, I booked this appointment and will wait anxiously to see what type of haircut I get..

I'm a brave soul, beside nothing planned for the next few weekends...Hair grows in right Debbie? lol

Hi...

Betty, You'll have a wonderful Haircut! what a cute story!!

OH my gosh, today went for that Birthday lunch with my friend.

So what did I learn today...
It is a small world! lol at least here in Glenview!
I was to meet my friend Helen for lunch at a nice cozy little restraunt in the middle of the woods!
So I arrived right on time, with Cedric in tow and walk in where Helen was waiting. She says hello and bids me surprise!
I look and there sitting is another previous co-worker. He was there with yet another, that I didn't really know, but how funny
that we all ended up at the same place. We had very friendly exchange of conversation as we each waited for our tables.
Was wonderful to see him, Last time I did, he was pretty mad, in fact quit the job! While, I was still awaiting (teeth) and smoking.
a grand afternoon birthday lunch in remote little place. LOL, Yep I do have a picture of he and Cedric!!
And LOL, they both were happy to hear I quit smoking, especially Helen, and I will see both in a month for another gathering of co-worker and friends!

That was highlight of my day.

And Betty, OH MY...Your cabinet door is splendid too.

Glenview, IL

By the Way...

Trisha!! Yow, forgive me, but forgot to say I love your little ladybug.
Thanks for the link to the Polymar thread, yayy how fun is that one going to be,
and is already!

I am trying to find my one and only lil snowman I made.
lol, still searching.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy omg what a coincidence...glad you enjoyed your lunch, bet they found Cedric/Bailey's story amusing..odd glances you got I bet..so your birthday still goes on and on..lol I'm glad for you.. bet you shocked your ex-coworker with the brilliance of those purly whites and not smoking..you've done well with that..still saving smoking $$$ for your craft projects?

Lazing around, lol, I don't do lazing around very well..lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Noah just called, wanted to know if he could come and spend the evening with me tomorrow night, said yes, perhaps we could go shopping for a birthday gift for him, said I'd give him $50.00 and he could get something..he was kind of quiet, so I said 'you don't want to go shopping Noah' and in a quiet voice he said, 'I left a project till now, it's due Friday and I have to finish it at your house tomorrow night..it's a french composition' so now I know why he wants to visit grandma, I'msure he was disappointed about shopping though..

Have to share my furries..ran the bath knowing the minute I did Riley would wake from her sleep on my bed..and I was right..

Now they tell me furries don't like water, someone forgot to tell Riley...she waits patiently for tub to fill

Tell Betty there is only 2 weeks between a good hair cut and a bad hair cut.
That was the first thing they were taught ..LOL

I think you are brave

Hello to All;
Betty - love the Haircut story. Can't wait to find out the outcome...but I am optimistic. Liked his comeback so thinking he isn't too 'far out'. Loved the "Report Card" story...LOL! I found myself telling myself to be more lenient. Let Brock stay over an extra 15 minutes, at Line's Host Mom's House. He says he's studying...maybe he really is... Line's Host Mom as we found out....was his 3rd grade teacher :)

Seed - Congrats on the B's. Brock has been a struggle...and we are not at that level yet...but his latest requirement is to show me that he is doing homework every single night...even if he doesn't have any...and he has told me that it is helping tremendously.

Jeanine - Where do you find the "Civil War Fat Qtrs"? I ask because my sister and her family are "Into" the whole Civil War re-enactment thing. She is very hard to buy presents for....so for Christmas, I found a Civil War era parasol. She seemed to like it...can show it during the re-enactments. So keeping my eyes 'open' for stuff for her...

Sharran - I yelled out to DH...."Dutch Iris Bulbs" and he says "doesn't do well here" apparently we dont' have enough 'dormant season'....So seems you do have advantages in 7a that we don't have in 8b. I find myself envious of the 9b's ! :) Love tropicals.

I first became interested in gardening last year around March...so this is my first year to wander around the yard...finding little daylilies and my Black Knight Elephant Ears poking their little heads through the soil. This is so exciting. Like opening a present! Betty - DH today showed me our spider lilies where we had one last year, we have three this year. I'm not sure that answers your question...the bulbs stayed in the ground all season. And you are welcome...but your posts do continually remind me of Mom...She came from a Family of Teachers, and you are a teacher at heart....plus the crafts....plus....guess what her name was? Betty. :)

Hugs to all, Perhaps more later...

Good night everyone. Sleep tight.
Betty I love that cupboard door you painted. it looks really nice.
So what have you decided upon the next online craft class?
LK

Baton Rouge, LA

PS: Stacey (Fairy?) - I am having some similar issues with my DH! I LOVE Canna's and they do so well here...but DH see's them as a lot of work because they take off and he will have to dig and thin them....So I found a place to plant them near the grass. I said...when they are 'done' just mow them down...and we'll have more next year. :)

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

4004 - here are a couple of links to quilt stores that sell "Civil War" reproduction fabrics. I don't even know if "reproduction" is the right term. They sell fabric that is "reminiscent" of that era.

All of these are fabrics by Moda:

Thank you so much! I saved all the links to a "family" folder. Getting her fabric that is 'reminiscent' of the Civil War Times is a great idea since she makes all of their re-enactment clothes. I would just have to find out how much fabric I would have to get her ...for her to make an average dress. She has made many dresses so far. The Parasol was $125, but was an actual parasol from that era. The silk fabric was worn and torn and last I heard, she was going to replace it....which is fine with me....I was just hoping to find her something she could use.

Lyndonville, NY

Sorry I didn't post easier. Its been one of those days!

Betty, hair does grow back! LOL And if all else fails....tell them your hairdryer caught on fire while you were drying it...and singed your hair! LOL

Thank you so much for the vasoline hint...I will be giving that a try for sure. It can't get worse than it is.

I don't know if I will be able to post much. MIL is still in the hospital, and when she comes home, I will probably be up there quite a bit.

Everyone have a peaceful and restful evening. Snow is falling here, and tomorrow I have to go into Rocheter.

Here are several web sites that tell how to clean the water marks. One says use a steam iron, the other says to use mayonnaise.

Hope you get your stain out.

Morning all,
Judy..great that you got to show off your "pearly whites" to your old co-workers and catch up on old times.
I had a visit to the dentist yesterday. I have an infected tooth..need root canal..have to be on anitbiotics for a week first.

Betty the panel is lovely..I think you were first working on that when you came to visit last Sept. and it was in the back of your car.
Great story about the beauty salon..sounds quite unusual. I'm sure you will make friends with them though..and have a laugh.

Going swimming again today..we had some snow yesterday..

Does anyone grow Ligularia..this one is Brit Marie Crawford.
I planted this last May..and in no time it was eaten to shreds by insects..full of holes..I'm not sure if it will even some back this year. If I do see a sign of it coming up I will move it..maybe even put it in a pot to see how it does.
It was $12.00 and I would hate to lose it.

thanks LindaKay..will check out the link..
left 1/2 hr. early this a.m. because of weather conditions, Paul and Suzanne each in their own vehicles was heading to the city for meetings..entire highway 400 closed both north and south, tractor trailer going north went over guardrail, struck several vehicle and highway will be closed for at least 4 hrs. - waiting to hear that they are ok..

In horror I'm thinking of the family that took in a 13 yr. old Korean exchange student for a year..the ski hills not far from my home was to be a day of enjoyments for his school class..unfortunately he lost control on the hills, hit a tree and died here in Barrie hospital..how traumatic for that family as well as his own getting such news..

Bearer of tide greetings this morning aren't I...

From home until about 10 minutes from Barrie you could hardly see..almost slipped 3 times while cleaning off my vehicle...had bit of freezing rain prior to the snow so quite icy underneath..

No sense complaining, about another month and most of it will be behind us...

What do you have planned for today....
I brought in my income tax paper work to work on and another painting project ..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Beautiful Carol..wow that's a lot for a plant isn't it..I'm sure it will come back strong..a pot on the deck might be the best place for it..have you been using your hot tub this winter?

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Betty-WOW is that panel gorgeous!! My kitty Jade is the same way-loves to play in the tub when I am in it-the dog on the other hand HATES water!!

Mary-DH is good most of the time-I have edged out most of my beds so that makes it easier for him to weed whack...and yes that is my name;)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning Stacey, what do you have planned for today? Just arrived and already bored..so out comes my project..

Originally I cut out 3 pieces of mdf to make Morning Glory curtain tiebacks then changed my mind, now I'm thinking with putting patio doors in back bedroom that B&B guests sleep in and thinking of using the material I bought awhile back for curtains and canope style dressing, they might look ok..so that's my goal today and tomorrow to perhaps finish them..

Not sure if my web cam worked..new computer system, had to reinstal and now program won't let me save..could play with that today as well..lol

Betty-your house is a B&B??

Nothing much planned for today really-whatever fite my fancy I guess:)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Betty, no plans for today!. I spent most of yesterday cutting old fence board, for my new garden area, and that made me pretty sore, so it is a day of rest here. Just have to take it easy.
Picture is of the area, we have already cleaned out. Everything is stacked, and waiting for assembly. The fence boards will be the back side, and the landscape timbers are going in the fron and on the sides. it is going to be a huge built up box for the garden. Our soil here is so rock hard clay, that we just decided to build it up, instead of trying to dig it out! It will be full of angel trumpets. it is 32 feet long, and 7 feet from driveway to fence area. Plus the fence boards, will help hide some of the uglyness from the vacant lot next door!
We wanted to clear it out, but the county said we can't touch it, if it does not belong to us. so there it sits! But I don't mind too much, it does give cover for the hummingbirds.

No wonder you are sore Linda Kay..that's quite a project to undertake..shaking my head here..wow...will look lovely all planted...do you have a LeeValley nearby you, although it would cost in the $200's for the metal brackets, they have a large star shape design for ontop of the ground you simply put 2 x 4's in the metal units and create the star shape on the ground, then again these metal brackets go ontop to form a 2nd layer..I so admired it..be lovely to have ..must go look for photo for you, not that it would do what you are planning but perhaps another area it would suit..

Stacey, Bernice and Cliff across the road ran a B&B for many years, because of health last year they gave it up so Bernice thought seeing I was a social person and she thought my home although not grand is inviting and my gardens nice to walk through I should take it one...there are 2 others in the area, what I do is on long weekends when all the hotels and B&B's are booked I take in clients..last year 3 rooms were used and I slept on the couch downstairs..did say this year I would register and advertise more, but think as long as I'm working I'll just do as I'm doing, although I so enjoy it..one lady lawyer and her daughter has come 2 years in a row because of the hospitality..

Am having patio doors put into back bedroom so they can overlook the gardens and also new window in dining room so still think I'm best to get all that behind me before advertising..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Linda Kay...here is the link..same metal units can be used to make long above ground bed units...I particularly like the star..3 years in a row I've looked at it..mighty tempting and no work to construct..maybe this year...

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I had no idea-do you sell your rooms often?? That is neat and I bet you get to meet a lot of interesting people as well.

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay..here it would cost $280.80 + tax then the 2x4's, so not cheap...now with all these friends/family I know, someone must know how to weld...lol..best I check that out..

Stacey, not don't you go get into your head that because I said B&B that my place is something special..nope, just a comfy feeling house, filled with love, what more could you ask for.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Stacey, I guess if I joined the society of B&B like I am encouraged to do by others, I could be booked most weekend and all through the winter for snowmobiling..with living just a few miles from Georgian Bay with easy acfcess to the waterways, it's a plus..but, it's something once the house has all been re-done and I'm no longer working in Barrie I might decide to take on full time..right now it's upgrading the dump...

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Betty-I am sure your house is "something special" as you are a something special lady:) All the B&B's I have ever seen are just very comfy inviting homes. I was thinking it would be more interesting to meet different people and what a cool way to go about it!!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Betty-you know if you do it full time you will have to at least make breakfast;) I know how much you LOVE to cook!!LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, that sounds very interesting to open your home for B&B! That is so nice of you.
Now for you showing me those raides bed paltforms!!! TSK, TSK!!! I wish I had seen them earlier. Those are so nice, but will have to be for the next project. Shhh, don't tell hubby there is a next project. Each Spring, I come up with another garden idea, and he just shakes his head. He keeps asking, "Don't you have enough garden area"? NOPE! One never has enough garden area.
Betty, please keep usposted on the trucking accident. And so sorry to hear about the foreign student. Will the school be held liable for the accident?

Good Morning!!

OH MY GOSH...my honey has big issues lately. Yikes, I need to go back to work or something, lol.
NOT...So I am going to be helping him out with stuff, because he just don't have time to do everything!!

This AM he asks me if I could copies some papers, LOLOL uh sure, I say. Also he asked me if I could have some photo made from a disk. ROFLOL, maybe just a joke to me because he says...Musice to my ears..."Don't loose this it's my only copy!"
Hahahah, you have to understand that I have heard those words so many times at work...We always thought it would be fun to make t'shirt with that on it, never did soo, thats why it's hysterical to me.
LOL, I am thinking where am I going to loose it?!

Boohoo, time to get Cedric ready for his next adventure. Think I am suppose to send him off on Saturday.

Stacey, isn't it nice to just do things at your leisure...enjoy that today.

Carol, Oh my sorry about your tooth infection, yikes I know those all too well. I hope it clears quickly for you.

Thanks for all the nice comment about my visit. Yes grand to run into old friends.
Carol when I got the invitation for luncheon next month, thought of you and your Hotel friends always gathering.
It is so nice to keep informed with those you basically spent your life with.

OMG Linda Kay, wow you sure out did yourself with all that lumber! Please be careful. Nice project, can't wait to see it all done.

Where is Liz...I got to laugh, lol after my above statement about loosing the only copies, UM hands on hips here,
Lost my cell phone...found it in Jakes room!! So i think we need to get him his own phone! Where are you what you up to??
LOL, 33 is warm out this way! today it's cold we got snow coming! sigh.

LOLOL, you know I am going to teach Cedric the Hands on the Hips form before he goes! Be a fun a picture too.
Yep, My friends got a big kick out of Cedrick and his travels. Helen was awed at all his clothes where he has been so far.
She loved his lil Moccacins from Gillian, and I showed her his Journal too.

Thank you for congrats on my girls grades. Mary, just takes lots of patience and coaxing. Great joy I get to do it again with my "lil" guy.
I love the name Brock! I hope he does well too.

Speaking of lil guy, Yow, don't know if I should cry yet...He is getting Registered for HS on Friday...
Betty, took all my patients to read that post about teenagers, He stayed out yesterday with out checking in!!
He is very lucky I kind of knew where he was. but wasn't sure...Freaked me out, Then had words because I was so upset!
Needless to say, he is grounded, sigh again. His dad talked to him telling how I actually called police on him, Jake would be mighty embarrassed, but next time I will.

I sure hope Noah gets his paper done.

Well, I am off to the store.

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL Stacey I do know that and I make out ok, nothing major...as most are looking for rooms at last minute and can't find accommodations, they are thrilled when I let them have a room, so I carry fruit, muffin mix, pancakes, easy things...and BECAUSE I don't charge what I should, lol, they are more than willing to go eat at a restaurant..

So funny, one man was travelling by 2 wheel bike up to the Terry Fox Monument, maybe 500 mile trek, doing it on his holidays, he'd ridden and gotten lost several times when he arrived at the house, made him a steak dinner as restaurants were closed..told him to make himself at home, no need to get up early as I (because I worked in the city and left at 6:45am) sleep in, leave when ready ..so on my best behavior, muffins in the oven cooking, walking on tippy toes so I didn't wake him, and my fire alarms which are very sensitive goes off...drats...so much for his sleeping in..he sent be a beautiful card and letter when he returned home thanking me for everything....

Here are the 2 families that spend August long weekend at my house... to the left is the lawyer and her daughter..the other mother and her 2 children came in about 11pm, no place to sleep..spent the entire next morning visiting..

Victoria Harbour, ON

forgot the photo didn't I...
Lawyer and her daughter Arianna..they were surprised that Arianna had left her journal behind in error the year before and I had it to give back...lol

2 families needing 3 rooms..not a good business venture because I always feel sorry for them..i.e. the mother and 2 kids, travelling on their own, she had just been layed off..etc.etc. so 2 rooms for price of 1..
