I have a stock heater in the pond. It is only 18 inches deep and the fish are still alive. I have had fish out there for 25 yrs now. Not the same ones tho. My water lily makes it and the elodia floating plant stays green all winter. Put a concrete block in the on end and set you container on it. Your talking about my waterfall faux except the top one not the pond LOL. Here is the waterfall. HUGS BEV
Best/Worse/What did I learnt today...visit with friends #86
Look at that robin Bev...any flying my way???
Not sure I can attach it to a concrete block because mine is a liner and with the swishing of the water it could put a hold in the pond...hadn't thought of asking about some type of heating system..with all that ice and snow, not likely...it's pretty..is this the area you'll be planting the lillies..
So far I've kept away from Gatrix Lilly farm, can you believe it, it's only about 5 miles from the house, close my eyes each time I pass by it..when Carol comes to visit we'll make a trip, better start saving my pennies now...in the garden where the frame is, think last year I planted 5 or 6 more lillies...seemed to like it there so will focus on making it my lilly patch..so they multiply much..I plant them but not knowledgeable on them...well another 7 minutes and home I go..not much to do tonight except relax..seems odd..lol
Now Shar there is a handy bit of info..didn't think of that...must try to figure out my camera date/time thingy..lol..not that swift when it comes to these things...my favorite is wisteria photo..I bought a vine let's hope it grows, even just a little..
Bev, love the sun garden...amongst all those seeds you sent me, could there be some of the yellow crazy daisies...off to check..wondered where all my seeds were from last year..remember Jojoringer made me a personalized garden journal..she had my name for a 'flat envelope' swap.. ..the most beautiful journal book for gardening..she designed each page and with it came little packets for seed saving...markers, pens, each page with a lovely gardening poem..a treasure for sure..it was mid summer when I received it and just did not want to write in the book..I'm starting fresh, she even sent me the cd so I could print off more sheets...must show you .. just came downstairs to get my camera..wouldn't you know, finally when I'm not home, kitties are using the bench I made..hooorrrahhh!
FOR EACH OF YOU!
Dear GOD....
I know you're watching over me
And I'm feeling truly blest
For no matter what I pray for
You always know what's best!
I have this circle of E-mail friends,
Who mean a lot to me;
Some days I "send" and "send,"
At other times, I let them be.
I am so blessed to have th ese friends,
With whom I've grown so close;
So this little poem I dedicate to them,
Because to me they are the "Most"!
When I see each name download,
And view the message they've sent;
I know they've thought of me that day,
And "well wishes" were their intent.
So to you, my friends, I would like to say,
Thank you for being a part;
Of all my daily contacts,
This comes right from my heart.
God bless you all is my prayer today,
I'm honored to call you "friend";
I pray God will keep you safe,
Until we write again.
Can't resist....
Have you ever been just sitting there and all of a sudden you feel like doing something nice for someone you care for? THAT'S GOD talking to you through the Holy Spirit.
Have you ever been down and out and nobody seems to be around for you to talk to? THAT'S GOD wanting you to talk to Him.
Have you ever been thinking about somebody that you haven't seen in a long time and then next thing you know you see them or receive a phone call from them? THAT'S GOD. There is no such thing as coincidence.
Have you ever received something wonderful that you didn't even ask for, like money in the mail, a debt that had mysteriously been cleared, or a coupon to a department store where you had just seen something you needed, but couldn't afford? THAT'S GOD knowing the desires of your heart.
Have you ever been in a situation and you had no clue how it was going to get better, how the hurting would stop, how the pain would ease, but now you look back on it. . ..
THAT'S GOD passing us through tribulation to see a brighter day.
Do you think that this e-mail was accidentally sent to you?
NO! I was thinking of you!
OH That is so Pretty!
Oh my Gosh, Bev?! Geesh, I am not sure i have ever seen your Pond!!
It is gorgeous!! UH You have Robins now??? Jumping up and down here..woohoo that means spring is way early!
But I have been saying that for a while.
OH Shar, you sure gave me a smile. You know how much I love your Wisteria...Thats not now is it?
If it is wow, I am really shocked then.
Thanks Tubby,if you can find time to do measurement and photo that would be great!! Lovely family you have.
and i have got to say I have been laughing...ROFLOL, your lil joke at social security office had me just a rolling.heheh, still laughing too.
And whose pretty girls where at a sweatheart dance...Debbie's? wow, they are Beautiful...all of them.
LOL, Betty, yep. I am still celebrating. Tomorrow a friend and I are going out to Lunch. We will celebrate together as we have for the 10 years or so. She is from work. Was let go in the first round. can't believe its been a year for her already!
Today was 45 degrees! nice and sunny here so went for a walk in the woods. 3 mile trek! Felt good. Betty, wanted to let you know, Steve did not work at all this weekend! He had so much fun with the rest of us. LOL...Played the card game Speed with Sabrina, hahah..you should have heard him...lol he was just a riot!
We were glad he wanted to just play and rest for a change!
How is Sailor...Better I hope.
Judy glad he took time to smell the roses...he's so busy all the time...nice to have a family weekend..you enjoy your birthday lunch with her..my goodness, you are just like Royalty, so many birthdays...
Wouldn't you know, camera batteries went dead..just came downstairs for charger and of course, drawn to the computer..
Had my bath now I've my garden journal in hand, going to read, plan, make flower tags for seeds I have, if I can't garden outside, well I'll just garden inside...can't believe that book that Jojoringer made..so professional..know you want photo's but must wait..
Tubby, think by the amount of requests for measurements you'd best post here so we can all follow and you can provide hints of the carpenter trade to us who may run into problems....
Still a question unanswered though..do you sit it right on the ground..is it more for decorative purposes??? wouldn't want to attrace snakes..yikes....
Man enters library Walks up to librarian and says I want to check out some books on suicide ..
She says no way..You wont bring them back..LOL
Mine sit floor of porch base is 2 pieces of 2" 12" by 20" ?? not sure about length don't remember It is back in shed covered to keep it clean till DW paints it..Easy to figure out after house is built.Boards are connected on 90 degree It could be set on post with braces up to outer ends of base I will do that with pics. Showing measurments
Thanks 'tubby' appreciated..guess we're all woodhunting...
Going to call it a night, waiting for 1 kittie to come in..much too cold to stay out..surprised Riley is still out..out she went at 5:30..usually in good weather she's out all night, winter, she prefers indoors..this morning when I let her out she was sitting on one chair and a white cat on the other rocker, comfy as can be on the back deck, guess with it being closed in they were enjoying the morning together..must have been a male....no damage done with Riley..lol..hopefully she'll not be much longer or I'll be at the door every 1/2 hr. till she does come home...
Played with seeds all night..
Must show you my album so that you might create one yourself..again, thanks to Jojoringer, I can enjoy!
Thanks Judy about the pond. I want to put some flat rocks arround it this yr to hide the sides. We will see. No Betty those are your black eyed susan seeds that I had ready to send and can't find them. Will try to get them in time. I will send you some robins Sharon. I have a mocking bird that has been eating my holy berries all winter and he runs the robins out of the bush each day. So funny to watch him. He owns it I guess!! Hugs to all. BEV

Hello To All;
Quick notes! Maybe more later....
Hi Fairy! You mention "mom" ...I thought you meant Betty but then you mentioned "Betty" later....is there a Family Tree available for newbies like me? (LOL). Just curious I guess because Betty is reminding me more & more of my mother...(who was the bestest mother of all). I think it's the crafts...My sister & I went through so many finished & unfinished crafts after Mom passed away...baskets, clothes, knitting, crochet, tatting...the works. Wish I had inherited that gene. Maybe it will come later in life as did the Gardening!
The tag on the "yellow daisy type plant" said "Euroyps African Sun". I'll try to get a pic to post this weekend. It's supposed to grow to 4-5', constant yellow blooms. And later found out...invasive. We'll see..... :)
"Seed" & "Fairy".....LOVE zucchini bread ....have my Grandma's recipe...I'll have to pull it out and try it again....
Betty - Yes - the dark plant, "Ninebark"....I will look it up to see if it will work here...
Tubby & Betty - Love the kids.....Great pics....
Bev - your Pond is lovely....Love the elephant ears & hostas....
Seedtosser - the "Sweetheart Dance" girls are mine...Thanks for the kind words....from so many of you. The kids all had such a wonderful time. Working on Mardi Gras plans now for the weekend!
Liz - I am an American Idol Fan as well. I try not to miss any of it if possible. Tonight: Me & DH's favorite: Danny. Also liked the short blonde hair girl. Not sure who else. Hoping Tatiana gets voted off, but she apparently did pretty well. I was rushing through the bath and only caught a bit of that.....
Hugs to all,
Mary
Baton Rouge, LA 8b
Mary, I wish I lived in your zone. Actually I am nearer 7a than 6b, so not sure why it says 6b on my posts. Melody lives just a few miles from me, maybe 12, and she is listed as 7a. Anyway...I got some Dutch iris bulbs today, and it is a bit "iffy" if they make it here, but going to try anyway.
I am a gardener who never wants to dig up bulbs at the end of summer...sometimes it works, sometimes not, so I just keep trying. And i would love to go to Mardi Gras again! I hope you/your family have such a great time.
Tubby, I am loving your wood projects.
GG... have you decided on the quilt show in Paducah yet?? April is coming up pretty soon, and you and your mom would love it. I am only about 15 miles away from it you know.
You all made me hungry with your breads, and all I had was banana nut...I need to start baking again, been a long time.
Anxious to see more flower pictures. I am so tired of winter....
Betty, beautiful book.....does anyone know where Joey is ?.....she was my swap buddy in the birdhouse swap and then just dropped from sight....no one has been able to contact her by phone or mail for several months now...
Don't have long to gab this morning, garbage day, animals..you know the routine but will continue my conversation once I get to work...
No I don't know where she is, d-mailed her last night to again thank her for my gardening journal hadn't seen her on...if my memory serves me right I mailed her a Victorian Santa kit but didn't see her participate...hmmm does anyone live near her that could check up on her..my d-mail didn't come back so she still must be a member...let's hope I get a d-mail back..
Forgot to show you last pages of the album..little packed areas for notes tags on seeds and seeds..I did work for about 1 1/2 hrs. last night..found my box of frilly crazy daisies and got all the seeds packaged..
Love the memory garden Bev..any news on the lighting problem? See Bev, good girl, don't you recognize your and seeds in this page, also have some from Ruby..anxious to seed..you sent me seeds that say 'winter sowing' can you give me info on how to plant those..do you mean start them inside?
Shar, need to see some photo's of your garden as well, spring is still a long way away here..but I do see where I've shovelled 'earth' so that's a start..I'm much like you when it comes to bulbs..not a take out of the ground in fall gardener, they either make it or don't..anybody know the answer to my question yesterday...do lillies multiply on their own i.e. if I had a plant last year would it look like 2 or 3 this year..I'm so hoping..
Liz I'm glad you are safe...all this rain you are getting and still worried about the draught..confusing..how are your fruit trees doing? Funny, these DH love it when we ask them to help out with a project..I used to ask Roger for 'help' act like I was worried about tool or saw and before you knew it, project was done and he could brag..I used to spend a lot of time teaching 'paper tole' 3D framing was expensive, to save money in framing he bought matt cutter and framing equipment..that was way too cool, then he ended up making all the frames for students and friends...he enjoyed it although he fussed at times...
Trisha how is your mom doing, ok...still needing someone with her?
Mary, Stacey was talking about her MIL (Janice)..I met both when I went to Frankenmuth this past fall..Stacey will be visiting with me in March for a craft weekend..so I'm digging into the woodworking shelves, looking for unfinished projects..hope her car is big..lol
Mary, going to research Euroyps African Sun..although invasive, I'm looking for something as a backdrop at the far end of the gardens...might be something to consider...and thank you, what a nice compliment..me reminding you of your mother..much appreciated..
Shar last fall I purchased a few bags of gladiolius (?) when I was looking for seeds last night I came across them, lordy they don't look as they they have much life to them, all dried up, hard to believe if I plant them this spring I'll have flowers...now watch me go check and find out I should have done so in the fall..
Don't follow many shows..would say Dancing with the Stars as being the only one and yet last year I didn't enjoy it so stopped watching..will have to check when it's on again..do enjoy 'Bones' hadn't seen it in awhile..now I watch but couldn't tell you their names...anyway on the weekend I watched an episode, and couldn't figure out the vibes between one of the girls and a client accused of murder..apparently they were old school chums..before show ended they were kissing, now on one of last season's shows, she broke up with her fiance because there was a 'husband' in the picture..I don't know, they get so far fetching I get into them then drop them...what ever happened to good family shows...call me old fashion...
In between posting, got my outfit for the day ironed...some garbage at the door so now it's off to sit for coffee and breakfast... got hungry for sweets so took my last Ruby cake out of the freezer so will have a piece and take a piece to work..should really bring what's left for the girls for a treat..
Roads are clear, snowing just south of Barrie, on it's way north, let's hope not before I get home tonight..
My plans for tonight..well I joined a graphite portrait class that will be starting in a couple of weeks..need a photo to work from..how do you pick which one of the grandchildren you want to do..did do an oil painting of Braedon and Caleb (duo) so box of photo's will be on the floor tonight..that's not always good, don't enjoy going back in the past, some memories are still too painful..perhaps I can find a recent one in my computer photo album..that's a thought and a lot less mess...
Talk later...
Morning all. Sleet and freezing rain this morning. YUCK!
I don't know how my post posted twice up there! That's a mystery!!
Betty, I'd wait till mid week NEXT week - after the quilt show. DM is going Friday to the show but I passed this year b/c I spend too much money. I still have kits and patterns from last year I haven't looked at. I did tell DM that if she found any pretty redwork kits to get me one.
Someone asked what "civil war fat quarters" were. They are pieces of fabric (fat qtr of a yard) that looks like old of fabric from during the Civil War period.
Well, off to work for the day! Will chat later!
Jeannine
Oh Carol, how I remember walking through your orchard...from room to room..I especially like the garden with the little girl sitting..just this morning I was thinking, "if I could con Carol into coming and spending a night we could do Garden Gallery in Barrie, then off to Collingwood/Meaford for the nurseries there and shopping/boutiques..." could even perhaps book a few vacation days mid week..know you like being home on weekends..lol..might even bring a friend...
Good Morning!!
Wow, I am one pleased Mumma!!
Woohoo...most of you know, We had a bit of issues with school last year.
Just came back from the meeting concerning next year...and guess what, my girl is doing great!!
Carrying straight B's. I am so very proud of her, she has come a long way.
Hi Liz...How are the crafts going? You doing ok with all the rain...lol, Betty's sending you the ark...had to have a giggle on that.
Hi Mary, Thanks for straightening me out.
It's a good thing I took my walk yesterday, today raining and icky.
So lovely to see everyone gardens...especially the hidden ones. Makes me want to watch a Secret Garden.
Neat Journal Betty! Should be fun writing and keeping a log. Will help you to remember names!
Bev, that was a neat picture you did too.
Hi Jeannine, was glad to see you posting.
Today I have to work on a few things..but will pop in and out througout the day.
hope you all enjoy, be safe.
So Far Best...hearing my girl is doing so well.
Worst gloomy rain...
Learned, except grades, nothing yet.
LOL, need more coffee!
Judy that's fantastic news isn't it..tell her congratulations for me...
never had trouble with my boys in school except for once...you all know Jeff is a computer genius, designing high tech programs for major industries..well when he was in high school he was bored/bored/bored..so many nights I'd have to drive him back to school because he'd close their system down in the computer room, nothing worked, said he wanted to test their teaching and knowledge skills...brat...lol
Judy knowing you you've a dozen projects on your slate you could be doing inside while weather not the best...
Sharon msn'd me to say she can't meet me Friday, dog show on Sat. so she's travelling..no free time this week perhaps next..guess her Christmas gift will just have to sit in my trunk..
I'm sitting here painting, from time to time looking out at the storm..weather sure did change quickly..best it storm and get it out of the way..know a few boys who will be excited for yet more snow..
Today is the day to finish this cubboard panel..regardless if it's finished I'm calling it quits..lol
Tubby, what store did you purchase this sander at..like the fact that it has a sawdust gathering piece on it...must mark down the name and check Canadian Tire and Busy Bee tools...I do have a stationary sander and 2 palm sanders, guess one can't have too many now can they..
