Best/Worse/What did I learnt today...visit with friends #86
Gosh Betty, it might be cheaper for you to send me your quilt and I take it to the place I go. $300!!! Seriously, how much would it be to mail me the quilt? Do you know what kind of quilting you want? Just a basic "meandering" pattern? You could probably go online and look up some longarm quilt patterns and see if you like any. I'd be more then happy to take it to her and get it done for you. Now they don't do the binding, just the quilting. Let me know cause $300-$500 is outrageous!
As for the spice rack, it is 2' wide by 3' tall and 3" deep so it will hold quite a few spices. Here is my "rendition" of it.
Mom-if it is $300-you might as well just get a whole new one!! That is just too much!!
Mary-I think you are talking about Celosia Cristata-as I call it brain celosia...
Betty-I can't wait!!! So many cute things-we are going to be busy bees-I will need 2 days to recuperate after I get home!!LOL
OMG, just spent the last few hours going through threads from last summer, was looking at all your picture photo's, no reading, just scanning the lovely gardens...
Bes, you posted such beautiful photo's ..sure did make me smile at what's to come...
Loved the designs of many of your gardens..oh those lillies and hosta's..
from rock gardens (Vicki) to secret gardens (Carol) and roses (Shar) , wondrous flowers (Gita), such beauties from Bev..Jeannine, just watched Murphy grow up..lol..nice photo's of rock pathway..just on and on...
How about we share 5 or 6 of favorites we have in photo archives????
As for the quilts, what do you think the lady would charge for queen size...?
I need your help....I am in BIG trouble. I know Tubby and some of you work with wood.
During dinner last night, I had sat a lid on the table....and didn't think anything of it. It was a hot glass lid, and the steam did a number.
Well, it left a mess. And I don't know how to get rid of it. DH said we are probably going to have to strip the table down this summer as it is so old. Our DD inherited the table, her place is too small....and not her style. So she gave it to DH & I for our house.
Any ideas?
Debbie, other than what DH said you could try the following
Get the smallest # sandpaper, almost a wet sand paper...gently going with he grain of the wood sand, meanwhile, in a bowl with hot water, put 5 or 6 tea bags and let soak, then with a cloth, wipe as many times as need to be get close to your color..don't want to go back and open to have a closer look as this post will be in cybrespace...if it were more on the dark side you could use coffee....
Know how I know this? watched 'how clean is your house' last night..much damage to a dresser and the old gal (lol probably younger than I) was showing them how to do a repair..might work....
Tell you what, couldn't believe how some people live..watched 2 episodes..in one episode the lady had a freezer that needed repair and just left everything inside..omg ten times over....you know how long???? yep 2 1/2 years...
I was quite comfy on the couch after doing a day of cleaning in my downstairs workrooms, after watching 2 of those shows, up I went, and cleaned a few cupboards..even went and burnt to garbage that was within early this morning as not to be tempted to take anything back inside...
Betty, I just called the quilt place and they charge $14 a square yard (3 feet) for the meandering patterns. So do you know the exact measurements of your quilt? A standard queen quilt is 90" x 90". So if I am doing the math right (which is questionable!), I think that equals to 6.25 sq yards whic would cost $87.50 to quilt.
Good Morning, Hello...
Were back!! Missed you all.
Hey Tubby, Welcome again...
OH MY Gosh...I love your birdhouses!!
Only made one myself.
Gave it to Lizrainey for her birthday.
LOL after Betty painted it better for us!
Anyway those are really cool...Would love to make something like that myself.
Mind if i copy??
Holy mackerolies...that is very expensive.
lol makes me want to keep making tiny ones...
By the Way Thank You Shar!! glad you liked my little quilt.
lol I had a good time making it.
Stacey, you will rteally like making the Santa Sleigh with Betty.
They come out really nice and make great gifts!
Hi ya, Liz...got your Dmail..Yep loveing it.
Well, today...I have a ton of laundry and I want to go for a walk...
It's a nice Sunny Day, Bev...a good day for a drive .
Oh Goodness, Debbie...I have been following the news on the airplane crash...
Yow, didn't know it was that close to you. My goodness, I feel so horrible for all the losses.
All we can do is keep family in prayers. just an awful thing.
Waing Hello Ves...How are you doing?
Betty, I am so looking forward to see all the lovely gardens again.
My gosh, I had forgotten about your secret garden...so beautiful.
It will be nice to see everything starting to bloom soon.
Well, I have got to get a move on something here.
Anyone interested I posted in Cedrics thread!
By the Way...
Stacey, Thank you for the Lil cakes...They were scrumptious!
I am having the last of the Banana bread with my coffee.
My DH went wild over the zuccini bread, been ages since he had any.
Also, received the JoAnns Card over the weekend too!! yahoo.
Jeannine, OMG do you think that's right...if it is I certainly will ship it to you and have it done..been sitting there for goodness knows how long..mine has the imprinted design but doesn't have to be done that way..even with the $$$ exchange and shipping, likely to be 1/2 the amount this lady quoted..will do some measuring..mom said she had in her car to drop off Friday a king size sheet to use for backing..just would need batting and I could send $$$ rather than shipping it for you to pick up..most likely this lady has some on hand for sale..most do...thanks for checking that out for me..you are a doll! Love the spice rack, lordy you must do a lot of cooking/baking to need to accommodate that many spices.. I made a cabinet to hold mine-3 tiers front is all decorative painting, think there are 5 containers of spice in it..then on my counter top I've one of those rotating ones, probably about 30 of them..never remember I have them..don't know if there are dates on them or not..probably expired..lol
Loved to see it finished, now where did you say you would install it?
Judy did you have an enjoyable weekend, got to go and see how Cedric enjoyed it? did you just laze around or did Steve have a project in mind for you to help him with...a card for Joanne's, lordy you are spoilt girl..and still more to come..lol most of us Judy celebrate our birth 'day' you get an entire 'month'
Mary, not sure if they plant/shrub you are talking about is the tall maroon leaves one..if so I think it's called ninebark, I wanted something that would grow large and hide the 4x4 structure holding the frame....
Judy the bread is super easy to make-do you have a recipe?? And like I said, that wasn't even by close my usual-usually it is so moist it is almost like a cake!!
Stacey, how are you enjoying being home..getting domesticated, making bread and all?
Janice, car fixed and ready to roll this morning?
Think we all have puppies up in age..not looking forward at what's to come...
Laura (Wonderhug) I like that...how are things going in your neck of the woods..fires all out now...sending prayers for all..
Betty-it is mom's puter, not her car...
And I am enjoying it-have a lot to keep me busy-yest & today are DH's days off, so I don't get much done on his days off-him sitting in the chair all day is NOT motivating to me;)LOL
Just maybe he needs the rest though..OMG thought she said it was her car and cost $300....oh can't do without computer now can she...
DebbiesDaisy Wish I could help ..I think Betty has a good idea with tea or coffee We have all done something like that I once put a correll dish on hot burner on elec. stove BANG it exploded..DUH
Seedtosser1..Copy away..I DID..I could take close up pics.with tape measure on different places..LMK
DDs & GKs were here most of the day Mon. Didn't get much done Except pick on grandkids..LOL
Aren't they just adorable..bet they love to visit, do they live nearby? do you get to see them often...I find as my grandsons get older they are more involved in sport activities and it's difficult to get them all in one location..
In the fall I took them to see a dinner show..back in times of King Arthur..so enjoy their company..had wanted in March to take them to Florida but tournaments now take priority..lol
In all my garden watching photo's I completely forgot to ask Liz and Dawn if they are safe...news is saying in some parts of California they've even had blizzards...any near either of you 2????
Sending out the ark...
To Funny I just read this in jokes & humor forum .Can't stop myself
A call came in to 911 that a woman was about to deliver her baby.
Due to a power outage, only one paramedic responded to the call.
The house was very dark so the paramedic asked Kathleen, the 3 yr.
old daughter of the lady to hold a flashlight high over her mommy so
he could see while he helped mommy deliver the baby.
Very diligently, Kathleen did as she was asked.
Heidi pushed and pushed and after a little while, Connor was born.
The paramedic lifted him by his little feet and spanked him on his
bottom. Connor began to cry. The paramedic then thanked Kathleen
for her help and asked the wide-eyed 3 yr. old what she thought
about what she had just witnessed. Kathleen quickly responded,
"He shouldn't have crawled in there in the first place...smack
his butt again!"
What beautiful girls...Jeannine is going to go crazy seeing those puppies, am sure they are no longer puppies..lol..that the downfall of getting older...more time on our hands to spoil them yet they grow out of grandma/grandpa when boys/girls/sports come into the picture..
2 of my grandsons live within a mile, now that nice weather and roads will be clear they'll drop in by bike often..always makes my day!
chocked on my bread muffin on that one..so cute...
Betty, here is their webside:
http://www.virginialongarm.com/
They can do the binding. Just click on 'Machine Quilting' then the 'Additional Services' for details.
Betty, yes they do have the batting although they don't advertise it. Not sure how you plan on paying but using a credit card might be the better way. I'm sure they can email you the total before doing the work. Val is the owner and I work with her a lot. She a doll. I will tell you that there is a quilt show down here this Thu-Sun so Val will be gone to that in case you planned to call.
OH NO I Can't STOP myself again !!!!! LOL
Gardengirl1204 Your stuttering LOL
lol not sure how they are double posting...
Jeannine I'll take measurements and give her a call..will wait till mid week of next week to make sure she's back .. quilt show you say????
OMG Jeannine wish we had something like that here...where you could attend a class session and get a certificate to use a quilting machine, then anytime you want a quilt done you just pay a rental fee for use of machine...hmmm wouldn't that be something..
Beautiful..remember you telling us that it your pond was made with a few pieces of slate and a big faux rock pot to support it..beautiful..yep, don't think it takes much to get hooked on Asiatics and Oriental lillies..just ask Carol? How did you make out today...get all your prescriptions?
Bev, you know one of the problems I have is getting water plants...I put them in all types of containers but because pond is about 4' deep they keep floating up..this year I'll go to the water nursery and look for those floating containers..I see such nice growth in yours...wonder if my fishies will be alive once the ice leaves...
