BJ-I have a gas oven and the water as they melt would put out the fire, so I am thinking that I need to put them in a pan....as for Datura-THEY NEED SUN!!! and A LOT of it:) So sorry, your shady spot I don't think will work-I put mine in the sun all day and they get big and pretty:) Don't you have some of the atlas gloves?? They should protect you from the dew-if not I have several pairs, I can send you some:)
۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞105
Yup.... daturas need full sun.
Oh MARION!!! You outdid yourself on the 2009 Swap gift. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it all!
I'm just ready to leave to have time with the visitors before they return to Maine and Arizona so I'll post pictures later. You couldn't have got me anything I'd love more.
♥♥♥♥
Cookie
Ok, then Stacey... use a bowl for your ice... or just a pan with a little water in it would do... but not much. Your pilot light should be enough heat for the bread to rise without turning on your oven light.
Ok, Daturas will have to go in another spot... DARN... would look so pretty against that ugly 3' wall over there between me and neighbors. Now, I need to find another spot for them.
I really don't know what got into Don... he's refusing to help me dig... says he's too old for that, and he's not a farmer... so, I'm hiring a boy to help me do it... just made the phone call... and I don't care how much it cost. I'm really fuming at the moment. UGH... I don't ever remember Don ever refusing to help me do anything before.
Cindy, that story has been in the news for awhile here, about someone calling and asking you to push the buttons. Seems like the phone companies could do something about that!
I, too, have extra Atlas gloves. The best gloves I have ever owned and that is saying something!!! So let one of us know BJ if you need some.
Ok, still working on getting the house shoveled out some more. Doesn't pay to get sick around here.
Nope, I don't have Atlas Gloves... just about a dozen cheap cotton gloves that are cool to wear in the summer heat. I have them scattered about in different places so I can usually find a pair... but I always have to look before I can remember where I put them. I think I'm getting old.
Oh, and I do have an old pair of Mechanix gloves for when I need to do other stuff... but they're old and wore out... guess it's time for a new pair. Don wears gloves out like he wears shoes out... seems he's getting a new pair of gloves every few months...
I am going to say this again... I can't preach it enough... REMEMBER to pad the palms of your garden gloves, ladies. You'll save yourself lots of misery... just cut a square of faux sheep wool... 1/4 yard at Walmart will last years... cut the square just big enough to fit in the palm of your glove, and use spray adhesive to keep it in place... you might need to re secure it from time to time... Those tender nerves and tendons that run along your knuckles and down to your fingers will love you for it... they can get damaged so easily. I had both hands operated on last year because I didn't know about that.
Does anyone here sell them on Daves? I got a pair last year in one of the swaps and they are nice, but like everyone else, I have misplaced them. They must be with all my pruning shears! Probaly 10 pairs of each around here somewhere! LOL
LK
THey had a co-op selling them last year Linda Kay. That is how I got mine--best money I have spent--other than quilting items.
Thanks Marion. Please let me know if someone does it again please? I will have to look around here, see if Wal Mart has any!
I was given a pair about 3 years ago for a Christmas gift and had just about worn them out when I joined Dave's. One of the first co-ops I saw was the Atlas gloves--I couldn't believe it as I had searched everywhere to find them. You can also go to their website--just put in atlas gloves and see all the types the have.
Can't believe Maid M sent out Cookie's gift before the end of the year!!!!!!!!!! Lol!!!
Hurry Cookie, we want to see what wondrous gift she had for you!
Next time Ann Maries host a Atlas Gloves co-op, I'm sure to get more. Got Kel's Mechanix from her too.
Kel still hasn't tried out the recipe BJ. Looks like I'll be using the beer for a batter... he's just not in the mood for kneading but will happily grill for you.
But tonight, we're eating Italiano. Always wanted to try Osso Busco (sp) and if that parking lot is full, we might end up at Ryan's.
Trisha, please tell your Mum to learn that advise... "slow down". Must be hard to change her habits as she loves being active, huh.
Well, cya ladies later this evening!
I just googled the atlas gloves... and Lowes has something like that... might not be the Atlas brand though. Might pick some up when I go again.
Well, turns out that Don just wants to build something... so, we just got back from Home Depot in Corsicanna and got the lumber to start the bridge that I want.
Hmmmm.... I just want to plant the garden... I don't want all the other work involved in having nice beds... I think I'll just hire it all done this year since he doesn't want to help me.
I'm making a pot roast for dinner, with potatoes and carrots, and onion gravy ... still have one of the loaves of bread I baked yesterday. Maybe a salad if anyone else is interested in one.
Well, phooey! I saw that coop but ended up not ordering for some reason. Was even intending to order some as Christmas gifts. Can't remember why I didn't order. (probably 'cause I forgot)
Marion, take care of yourself. You sure can't affort to get sick now.
Cody, so sorry about Mocha. That would make me mad too.
Well,i missed her so much that i have her back. She is down in the Den away from my son.The people who was watching her for me was getting attached to her.So i back her back.My lawyer said it would not be worth it taking them to court because you will be more than what it's worth.I'm still one PO mama. Please everyone just pray for her everynight to hurry and get well soon.
Mama Jaye, thanks for making me laugh.Y'll go a have a blast for dinner.
I will go for now but will be back on later.Chow for now!!!!
BJ you are lucky though....Bill is not a yard and garden person......I do what I can.....blackmail the kids to help, or more likely take the easy way and just call Antonio to come take care of it for me...he loves plants, works hard for $15 an hour and my yard is small enough that even with the biggest project I have had so far it has never cost me more than $50.
I know Cody, just from seeing the pictures of Mocha it would be really, really hard for me to part with him for any length of time....hope he gets better real soon.
Don't worry Jaye, while she is back doing a lot of things she IS still taking it easy (for her) for the time being. She is back working on cards which is mostly sitting, and the ladies from Church brought her some new stamps and magazines for her to use for awhile. She is doing good.
Marion, you take care....no fun feeling bad...
Have some computer work to do, have to take Sage to Climbing class and then it will be spin class time again.....where has the day gone.....?
Dinner in a half hour... don't let me burn the roast...
Don is feeling so bad about how he acted this morning that he offered to go get Mike from school... he hasn't done that before... and now he's busying himself out in his shop trying to bend those boards into arches for the bridge. He printed the instructions off his computer, so I think he's been planning this for a while. He comes in the house every now and then to kiss me and say "I love you"... he probably got the message that he really pissed me off this morning.
I'm in the market for a "heat gun"... Trisha, I know they're used in paper crafts to set ink... do you have an old one you want to sell?
Ok, got to go make the gravy and get everyone in the house to eat...
BJ, give me a day or two to get into some boxes, I did have an extra but can't remember if I gave it my son's SO or if it is buried in the back room....
Trisha... Don's taking me to Lowes to see if they have one...
LOL... I love it when he thinks he's got to butter me up after making me mad... hehehe I should get mad more often... but then, he does buy me almost everything I want anyway... he just doesn't usually fall all over himself to do so like he is today.
Mike doesn't want to go with us to Lowes... so this will be his first time to stay home alone... Ya'll are in charge... keep an eye on him, ok?
BBL

Trisha... I got a heat gun at Lowes... they're not as expensive as I thought...
I already tried it out on the polymer clay project I was working on... and it works GREAT... what a difference a little hot air makes!!!
BJ,my son come home at 12:30 today.
I know my too.My son knows i have her but he has not seen her.He came home at 12:30 today.
I will check in later.
What a busy group you ladies have been. Tired to get some sense of order as my SIL and her hubby will be here tomorrow. Did get a fair amount done but boy do I feel lousy now--it will bedtime very soon for this lady.
Oh Jaye, I didn't mean to put you in shock about Joyce's gift. Had some rather bad luck getting the one thing I wanted from the vendor--keep coming with a crack in part of it but finally got it right. Nope that is all I am saying--Joyce can show what it was.
I sure did start getting the urge to work outside today!! Sunny and not so warm--just perfect for starting some projects but alas I had things to do insides. Yuck.
BJ I keep reading about the beer bread and just might have to try it this weekend. I haven't had the best of luck baking bread from scratch but will try your recipe for sure. It does sound so delicious.
Cody, just hang in there with Mocha. I wish I could remember what our vet finally told us to do that our beagle pulled through but it was many, many moons ago--more like 552 moon ago!! I do recall it was something very simple which surprised us. Darn getting old.
Well ladies, I am tired and sore so I am off to shower and crawl into beddy bye.
Be safe all and will chat tomorrow.
BJ, what a way to get what you want huh? LOL What are you doing with the heat gun?
Cody, where has your son been? You said he got home today? Sorry about calling Mocha a boy! OK, Mocha is a girl, Mocha is a girl...

You need to watch that toothache. You don't need another emergency dental visit!
Get to the tote of fabric when you can.
