Hello sistahs! Anyone else having baby or puppy envy?

Laura, my DD is 26 yrs old. hate to tell ya, but the older WE get the younger THEY look. lol!

Weather was nice here yesterday and I did some weeding. Felt so good!

Today was bummed out when I overloaded the front loading washer and while it was trying to spin it got so out of balance that it nearly jumped out of the built in shelf it's in. Thank goodness I was there and ran over to stop it - but not before the door popped open. It won't stay closed now - I guess it bent something. Geesh! Repairman coming Thursday.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL... Debra... Mine is a front loader too... and I did the same thing once... only mine wouldn't close at all after... Don did something to fix it... not sure what... but I'm really careful now not to over load... it's so easy to do.

Got to tell you all... I made bread almost every day since I posted that recipe... and I have tweaked it till it's perfect now... I'll get it all written down and post it in a bit... but it's fool proof if you do it exactly like I say...

Don took the entire day off... laid up in bed, or vegging at his computer... Oh, he did go out and turn the heater on in his shop... then an hour later, he went out and turned it off... so, tomorrow I've got twice as much for him to help me do outside... just watch it be cold and rainy... just my luck.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Perfect Beer Bread.
(almost tastes like sour dough, depending on how long you let it rise)

12 oz can of beer
1 tsp salt
2 tblsp brown sugar
1 tblsp active yeast
4 cups of flour

In a small mixing bowl combine beer, salt, and brown sugar. Stir to mix completely. Microwave for 1 minute. Not too hot... around 90* is enough. Add yeast to this mixture, and let sit.
Measure 4 cups flour to your bread machine (or if you prefer to hand knead, measure 4 cups flour to a large mixing bowl). Pour in the beer/salt/br sugar/yeast mixture. Set your machine to "dough" setting, and turn it on. DO NOT LET IT RISE IN THE BREAD MACHINE. My bread machine takes about 1 1/2 hours to knead... I usually cut that short, so after about an hour of kneading I turn it off.
Lightly spray (very lightly) PAM in a large plastic bowl. Dump the dough into the bowl and turn it over so that both sides of the dough ball is oiled. Lay a lid lightly on the bowl, do not seal the bowl.
Turn the light on in your oven, and set the bowl in the oven. My oven light causes a temp of about 84*... yeast is happiest at 75*-85*... Two hours later, the dough should be pushing the lid up off the bowl. Punch it down and get all the bubbles out of it. Shape it in a loaf ( I usually make 2 small loaves by dividing it in half), and either put it in a loaf pan (lightly sprayed with Pam), or lay it on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet (my prefered way). Set this pan of dough back in your oven with the light on, and let it rise again... the longer you let it rise, the more flavor variations you will get. Today I let it rise 1 1/2 hours, and it was a sweet bread. One day last week, I let it rise for 4 hours, and it tasted almost like sour dough bread (scrumptious).
Remove the pan of risen dough from the oven, and preheat your oven to 400*. Put the pan back in the oven, and throw about 6 ice cubes into the bottom of the oven. Set your timer for 20 mins. about 10 mins into baking, throw another 6 ice cubes in the bottom of the oven.

NOTE: Rather than trying to slice this bread right away... let it sit about 15 mins under a clean kitchen towel first... it will be easier to slice.

ENJOY

Raleigh, NC

didn't fly the first time, just drove. Roy retired from Amer. Airlines, so he has flight privileges and was able to get me on a stand by flight - so if I get on the plane, I'll be in San Antonio airport by noon tomorrow.

Darn, I forgot Mibus is also in TX, but she's also nearer Dallas. Well, I've never thought of a 3 hr. drive as all that much -when we lived in Idaho, it was 3 hours to the nearest place with civilization!

I'm staying for around 2 weeks. I hope.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

uh yeah I am in Texas and so is BJ and Linda ...
I'm near Tyler and am going to Desoto wtih soccer Tuesday evening.
San Antonio is about 3 hours away I think it is and I don't have a day of till Saturday

Coushatta, LA

I want y'll to know.I bought my dog from these people from Simms Tx.and they screwed me over. They sold me a dog that has Corridia. Those have to be some sorry you know what people to sell me a sick dog.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Little Mocha is sick? Oh no. I have never heard of Corridia. I hope it is nothing too bad. I would go after those people, and if nothing is done, I would put an ad in the paper, and let everyone know. Maybe call the spca if you have a chapter there?
Please keep usposted.
Bon, maybe we can get together in Uvalde. It is about half way for both of us. About 1 &1/2 hour drive. I always go for a Sunday drive, so maybe we can meet on Sunday?
Good night everyone.

Coushatta, LA

Linda google it and it will tell you.I called them and told them how sorry they were for selling sick dogs.I told them that if they wanted to stay in that business they need to take those puppies to a vet to make sure they are healthy.I can't stand SNAKES like that.

Coushatta, LA

My friend has her now.I had to get her out of the house.I have to protect my son.Humans can get it too.I don't won't to take that chance. All the dogs those SNAKES sold to people in that litter were sick, and none of them know. The reason i know is because she kept pooping blood. So i took her to the vet the day after i got her.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Cody, so sorry about Mocha.....will she be okay?

Coushatta, LA

Yea Trisha, she will be fine if she gets well.

Coushatta, LA

I will talk to y'll tomorrow.I've done cried so much today until i'm wore out.

So good night everyone!!!!!!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Will keep little Mocha in my prayers, she looks like a sweet baby.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Cody read this , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coccidia

People often first encounter coccidia when they acquire a young puppy who is infected. The infectious organisms are canine/feline-specific and are not contagious to humans .

Further, stressors such as new owners, travel, weather changes, and unsanitary conditions are believed to activate infections in susceptible animals.

I'm very sorry that Mocha is sick but,
the people that sold you the puppy probably never knew the puppy had it.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Morning. Thanks for the coffee Donna--you did have the coffee didn't you?

Cody, so sorry to hear about your puppy. Hang in there, we bought a puppy like that many years ago and lucky for us and a very good vet, he survived. It was a beagle and he lived to age 12 so we did manage to love and enjoy him for a good long time.

Got the slows this morning. Need to work on doing some laundry and shoveling out some things as SIL is coming tomorrow for the night. Will be good to see her--just hope she can tolerate my hacking and cough from the allergies.

Yes, Linda Kay it was very good to be home and sleep in my own bed!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Morning all... Yes... LK... the bread is very good, and very easy to make.
You don't need a bread pan... I have 2 bread pans, but I make this bread on a cookie sheet with parchment paper on the bottom... works great. I did put some in loaf pans last week, and it was good too, though.

Well... it's 50* outside, and Don is ready to work in the yard... I had to come in to warm up a bit... he's already come in to find out why I'm not out there with him... sheesh... my hands are frozen. Yesterday when it was warm outside, he stayed in bed... today, he's cracking the whip... what's wrong with this man?

Well... better bundle up and get out there before he comes in again and gives up... I plan on keeping him busy today until it rains.

Coushatta, LA

Synda, yea they knew about it,because the witch told me that one of her brothers had it.After i got her a took her to the vet the next day i got her.Yes and it is CONTAGIOUS to humans because i ask different vets and they said the same thing. In order to get it you had to touch her poo, think god i never did.She never used it on the floor either.I didn't want to get rid of her but i have to protect my son.

Coushatta, LA

Thanks Trisha,Donna,Linda kay and Marion.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

90# on your telephone

I dialed '0' and asked the operator who confirmed that this was correct

so please pass it on . . . (l also checked out Snopes.com..this is true, and
also applies to cell phones!)

PASS ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW

I received a telephone call last evening from an individual identifying
himself as an AT&T Service Technician (could also be Telus) who was
conducting a test on the telephone lines. He stated that to complete the
test I should touch nine(9), zero(0), the pound sign (#), and then hang
up. Luckily, I was suspicious and refused.

Upon contacting the telephone company, I was informed that by pushing
90#, you give the requesting individual full access to your telephone line,
which enables them to place long distance calls billed to your home phone
number .

I was further informed that this scam has been originating from many local
jails/prisons.

DO NOT press 90# for ANYONE.

The GTE Security Department requested that I share this information with
EVERYONE I KNOW.

After checking with Verizon they also said it was true, so do not dial 9 0# for
anyone !!!!!

Coushatta, LA

I will talk to ya when ever i can.

Hope everyone has a bless day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Cindy-I tell ya-how people come up with these scams I will never know....

Cody-I am sure Mocha will get better and then you can bring her back home-I know your some will LOVE her!!! I would also request that the people you bought her from pay the vet bill and let them know if they don't that you will take them to small claims court-it IS their responsibility in most states (I would check with yours) to make sure that they are selling healthy puppies. There are of course health issues that may arise that are not in their control, but if they failed to vaccinate her and that is why she has this, then that WAS in their control....

LK-my fave bread pan is a silicone one I have-it is for the most part the only one I use:)

BJ-how long do you let the yeast mix sit B4 adding it to the flour?? And I am assuming that you put the ice cubes in a pan, not directly in the bottom of your oven to add humidity??

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Stacey... your yeast only has to sit long enough for you to measure the flour into the bread maker... so, not long. No, I throw the ice cubes directly on the bottom of the oven... they wont hurt anything, and will dissolve in just a few minutes.
I have the silicone muffin pans and corn stick pans... I love them... but all my other pans are metal.

In the house again for a coffee break and to warm up again... it's now all of 53*... not really so bad except when your hands get wet from the morning dew... soaks right through the gloves.

Got a question... is it too early to plant some vines and shrubs that I've been babying on the sunporch? We might get another freeze...
I might just be too anxious...

ALSO... I want to plant some DATURA in a spot that gets mostly shade... late afternoon sun, but for only about 3-4 hours... will they be ok there?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yes it's too early, BJ! Patience pls.
Hello everyone..... going to be another busy day for ME!!
Helping a church sister again.
Sorry Cody, we were late coming home so we missed your calls :(
Sad about Mocha but you got him to the vet in time and according to Maid M, he'll pull through. We're all sending out good thoughts. And yes, I agree with Stacey...............get your vet bills refunded. You paid too much already :(
Hi Tina Tia, LK, Donna, Maid M, Cindy, Phyllis, Trisha, Kim, Susan .......yes I can believe Bonnie to travel cross country to help a friend...
Be back in a while.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I know Bj I want to get started planting also..............just cant her probably not until at the earliest mid march. I am sooooooooooo ready for GREEN!!!!!!!!
