AnnMarie, how adorable...now the trouble begins with the walking..lol...they do grow up quickly..love the boots and no, not giving mine up..because my DG friendship garden is at the back of the yard I'll not want to put all these treasures I received from dg swaps and gifts back there but I'll set up a friendly area just so I can spend time out there with you all..I do hope all those shrubs I bought at the end of the season last year take..

Carol, I did remember your brother being a pilot, thought you might have had another...good for you, I spent 3 lunches at the Garden Center in Barrie last week..have you been to one ..think they are owned by Bradford Gardens..with nice weather coming and before gardening starts you'll have to come spend a weekend and we can go there..2 or 3 of the big ones are now open..you left some things out in the garden last year didn't you?

Talk when I get to work, Suzanne just called, ready to go..

Crossing my fingers here, Inuk (Sharon's dog) is competing at Madison Square Gardens this morning at the Westminster Kennel Club shortly I believe..they have feeds but I think it's after the competition so will be checking things out..saying a prayer here as Sharon and the trainer Graeme put in a lot of hours with the pups..

KNOW you have all read this probably more than once but always a great reminder of our value...

A well-known speaker
started off his seminar by:

holding up a $20.00
bill. In the room of 200, he asked,
"Who would like this
$20 bill?"

Hands started going up.

He said, "I am going to give this
$20 to one of you

but first, let me do this.

He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill.

He then asked, "Who
still wants it?"

Still the hands
were up in the air.

Well, he
replied, "What if I do this?"

And he
dropped it on the ground

and started
to grind it into the floor with his shoe.

He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty.

"Now, who still wants it?"

Still the hands went into the air.

My friends, we have all learned a
very valuable lesson.

No matter what
I did to the money, you still wanted it

because it did not decrease in value.

It was still worth $20.

Many times in our lives,

we are dropped, crumpled, and ground
into the dirt

by the decisions we
make and

the circumstances that come
our way.

We feel as though we are
worthless.

But no matter what has
happened or

what will happen, you
will never lose your value.

Dirty or
clean, crumpled or finely creased,

you are still
priceless to those who DO LOVE you.

The worth of our
lives comes not in what we do or who we know,

but by WHO WE ARE and
WHOSE WE ARE.

You are
special
-
Don't EVER forget it."

If you do not pass
this on, you may never know the

lives it touches, the
hurting hearts it speaks to,

or the hope that it
can bring.

Count your blessings,
not your problems.

"And remember:
amateurs built the ark ..

professionals
built the Titanic.

If God brings you to
it - He will bring you through it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, so glad to hear you had a great trip, and visit. Nice to hear you found some nice prices during your shopping as well.
But I don't remember what you said you paid for the lovely quilts?
Woodspirit, please tell us where he sells those beautiful wood carvings! I think you said on ebay, but we would love to know where to look.
Ladies, be good, and stay warm.
LK

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'd be interested as well Woodspirit to get the e-bay link...

LindaKay..omg they were $14.98 and even with exchange that's less than $20.00 each and queen size..will open one up tonight and post so you can see how pretty...

Stacey, checking tracking number, there's a parcel on that side of the border, let's hope it arrives today....

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, what is keeping you busy today, is it gardening weather???
Thank you, yes I had a wonderful time with mom..I'd do it again...could it be next week...some lovely things I'd like to get for me and my garden...perhaps next month...lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL, Judy, you can't STILL be hungover from the Bahama birthday party can you?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

That was a beautiful story and one we should all remember.......

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Mom is fine-just busy quilting is all-she is more a lurker-only posts occasionally but reads almost every day...I am doing good-finding myself again and my happiness-that is a reward in and of itself.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm so glad Stacey..what time does your post office person do their rounds..the box for the 2009 swap arrived on the weekend so thought yours for 'v' day must be close by..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Stacey, so glad to hear your feeling better. Did you get your 3 page letter all typed up?
Betty, it is 72 right now, and yes, I have been in the garden. I have angel trumpets with buds on them, and I have some daffodils, I bought last week, and they are blooming also. And my cyclamen are so pretty.
Betty, that is a great deal on the quilts. Can't wait to see them later.

72...OMG...can I come visit, promise I'll help you with the gardens...

your angel trumpet must be new or you would know the color or do they change depending on soil?

It is sunny here, on the cold side but hey one can't have everything right? by the time your gardens are all in bloom we'll just be starting to share our 'treasures'...sooo looking forward to it..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

A few of my bulbs are just starting to come up, I'm wondering if I planted them a little late. I have daffodils coming up too, can't wait til everything blooms!

Does anyone want to spend the night with me tomorrow night? I don't want to be by myself through these storms, I need a babysitter LOL!

Wishing Sharon and Inuk the best of luck!

Laura in Melbourne, how's your brother?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wish I lived closer Crissy and I'd surely spend the night at your home...might get into some mischief though..

Well the 1st round is over..if Inuk did good he goes on to the next level..high quality dog show though, be hard to get in top breed class..let's hope...

Yes, was just reading an article just released re the fires in Australia..166 dead at the time of posting..can you imagine, they believe arson to blame for some of the deaths...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, all my angels are new. I got them through out last summer, and some bloomed, some did not! I cut most of them back, so I could have new cuttings for this year, and some I left in pots on purpose, to see how they would fare through our winters. Well, the ones in pots are doing well, and have buds on them, so I will leave all my angels in the pots or in the ground from now on.
Heres hoping for the dog show to go well! I would be so proud, just to get in to show my dogs.
LK

Victoria Harbour, ON

15 more minutes and it's time to head home..rather tired today, so do hope I can stay awake to watch the dog show televised..think in my area it might be 9pm..way past my bedtime...

LindaKay, those blooms are quite a size..you'll have to post once it blooms...now if it were to be cold on some evenings at least in pots you'd be able to take them inside right?

This morning before leaving for work I was looking at the fencing that divides me and a neighbor, because of loss of trees in the storm we had most of the fencing is laying on the ground covered by large trees, I worked so hard for vines and flowers..neighbors are a bit slow with any yard work so doubt they'll have the trees cut so that my vines / flowers will grow...should be an insurance claim but because they just rebuilt their home due to a fire I doubt they will make such a claim...

Maybe like Shar, I can find something positive to do with all the debris on my side of the yard.. bet Shar is outside thinking of the many ways she can create with the limbs of fallen trees...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I wanna go home! LOL! I have work to do and I don't know what it is, now that's bad.

I wish you lived closer too. I'm scared of these storms. I even offer strawberry pie (if Dave hasn't eaten it all,) your own bedroom, and a storm shelter if we need it.

Glenview, IL

Hi...woohoo, everyone is now safely home or on their way!

Betty, too funny, I was just now on line, fully recouped after a good sleep.

Well, We had some not so good news on Saturday. Day of the Party!
My youngest Brother had a Heart attack. on Friday. So Honnee made him go to doctor.
Didn't look right, having some uncomfortable symptoms. By Saturday they airlifted him to the bigger hospital,
where they diognosed his heart. Had to have surgery to get stints. Had a blocked arterty.
So they stinted and the other blockages they figure they can get with meds.
I will be calling tonight or tomorrow to find out whats going on. further. But he was doing well.

Please keep him in your prayers as well. He is only 36.

Wonder-Been keeping you and yourt country in my thoughts and prayers too. How awful.
Will continue with prayers for your brother as well.

So at my party, A real neat thing...Remeber my telling you about childhood friend. I happened to call her on her birthday, well Steve sent her an invitation and she Came to Bahamama party!! Was incredible, just picked right up where we left off. Hopefully she we will stay in touch.

Liz, OH MY GOSH, guess who invited herself over Friday night!! ewwwww. lol. I knew she would.

So much to read last couple of days. Will have to get caught up.

So waving to all--Betty, oh my nice finds, love the fairy and the shoes!

Welcome Woodspirit! Love your name.

Shar, glad your home. Looking forward to seeing your wood creation from the branches, great idea.

here is me and my fiend Donna. LOL of course I was telling a story.

Betty....go here. http://www.tvguide.com/tvshows/westminster-kennel-club-dog/296628

Looks like it is on the USA channel.....but...not sure what channels you get.

Go to www.tvguide.com and put in westminster kennel club in the search bar. It brings up quite a bit information...and might show if it is on in your area tonight.

I am soooo excited!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I found it, missed the first 10 to 15 minutes of it, I hope I didn't miss Inuk. They just got through showing the hounds and after the commercials they're going to show the winner of the hounds. I'm assuming her dog is a working class?

Lyndonville, NY

I believe he is in non-sporting.

Glenview, IL

brother back in hospital.

never mind...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I'm praying for him Seed, he's my age, I'm 36!

What kind of dog is he again?

Glenview, IL

he is my baby brother.

thank you for keeping him in prayers.

Glenview, IL

Oh My,
Sharon's Pup is a Beauty!!

Crissy, you a real sweat girl!!
Love you to pieces for real.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Judy please keep us posted on your brother....we are keeping you all in our prayers, he is only a couple of years older than my son. My father in law had his first attack at 39...he went through a lot surgeries and things, we lost him in his mid 70's!! Care has improved a lot from those days! A big HUG to you sweetie..

Isn't Sharon's dog adorable!!!

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

OMG I am so lost guys. I loved the wood carving thing B. You guys and all your spring pictures are having spring withdrawal ha?

Cute doggie. I have a friend who had one of those, named Casey and she barked non stop, for an hour every time I went over. Beautiful dogs though.

I did great on my first day. At least I think I did good. I learned a lot and did a lot of input. Long day but it was weird too, it rained and snowed too some all around the area and a little at work. The weather has lost it's mind.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Never mind, I found him!

Oh poo, Inuk didn't win. Bummer!! That's a very beautiful dog. Looks like a short legged bushy tailed Samoyed. By the way he jumped, he acts like one too LOL! I love those fuzzy white dogs!

Oh I got my mom on the phone and all she wants to talk about why her and my dad divorced and all of the cheating he used to do, never mind all of the cheating she did instead of divorcing him. Good Grief there has got to be more to talk about than that.

Oh I love you too Seed!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Glad your first day went well !!!

I agree, the woodcarvings are fabulous!!

Our weather is crazy also...sun, clouds, sun, suppose to get some rain, maybe some snow...it is definitely cold out tonight...may have to break down and start a fire.

Finally, tomorrow is mom's Orthopedics appointment.....if they could just get her into Surgery tomorrow!!!!! We did get her a new and better walker today but I cannot keep her off her feet!!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Oh well, from what I understand Inuk is quite young, and Best of Breed is quite an accomplishment on it's own.....I think he has a good future!

Judy Get some rest if you can and remember we are all here anytime you need us.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello All; Hope the brothers are all well...protected from fire and heart attacks...my thoughts and prayers are with you.... Anjl - would a Hyacinth work there? (this from the LEAST experienced gardener on this chain). Not sure what kind of height you are looking for. Betty - love the dolls....and teared up at the $20 story. I might go ahead and plant the thyme and 'see what happens'. I want to try the creeping thyme because we are hoping it will creep on over the flagstone and drape down into he pool...like a rock garden...Inuk has done well ! Tired....Love to all - Mary

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I would have to agree and say Inuk has quite the career set out for himself. I saw the same dog on there tonight that almost won it all last year. I don't know what kind of dog it was, it was the last one on, Dave called it the Dread Lock Dog, pure black and looks like he has dreadlocks all over himself. I didn't see any Pickanese dogs, did I miss them? One of those dogs won last year. I love those shows, I wonder if they televise the cat shows.

It's bedtime. Ya'll have a nice night and be safe!

Luv Ya!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all...

Judy your brother is in my prayers..that is awfully young to be having these kinds of problems, the positive part of finding it is they can now do so much...is he close enough for you to get to visit? Tomorrow's a big day for you girl....we'll all be singing "Happy Birthday"

Dawn, I'm sure you did welll, you sound so excited so it must in the field you wanted..wise boss to realize what great worker you are...my garden Dawn is under snow but I'm so enjoying all the gardens/flowers being shown..

No Inuk didn't win the big prize but shucks Sharon is thrilled that he took best in his breed...

Sorry girls, lazy this a.m. so rushing here .. will read your posts when I get to the office and chat then...

Calling for freezing rain, want to get out of here before then...
