Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Kathy , do you have her new #

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Morning all. Who has coffee? OH, Tink, I feel the excitement about Flamingo Kim coming--lucky you. Please drive safely Kim!!

To all have the bad weather, stay home if you can--we need everyone of you here.

Got to get ready as I have a dental appointment--need a filling. I hate this but it is one of the necessities of life I guess.

Pangburn, AR(Zone 7b)

Woke up to everything covered in ice and more on the way. Weather man says another inch or more. We are right on the line of 1"+ of ice and snow. We already have some big branchs down. I just hope we don't loose power. Everything here is all electric. I would rather have a foot of snow than an inch of ice.
For dinner, I am going to make fried catfish, baked beans, hush puppies, and green beans. DH can't wait.
We are going to hibernate today. We are working on a puzzle my DD got me for Christmas, and later I am going to pick on DH(hehehe).
Oh great, they just added 2"+ of ice for us. UGH!! We already have over an inch of ice. Friday its supposed to be 50*. Thats Arkansas weather.
I have also got to make 30 containers of fudge. I will be making chocolate, chocolate with nuts, and peanut butter. What I need is for all of you to D-mail me what kind of fudge you want. My back is feeling better today, so its a good day to make fudge, so get those D-mails in this morning! I have everything all set up to make the fudge, just need to know what ay'all want.
Cathy

Cathy, that sounds like a good dinner to me.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm here Sis Kathy...what's going on?

Love the fudge picture...yummmmmmm

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

LK... I don't think the Super Bowl Party is suppose to be about me having fun... I'm just here to make and serve food... but I hear that's a very important job to have... doesn't pay very well... but is well received and appreciated... that's enough for me.

Cathy... you got my dmail?

Kathy... I'm praying... but don't exactly know what you SIL did... do we need to start saving up for bail money?

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I wanted to give you all an update on Lyston my neice. She has about a 90% loss in one of her ears and it is from a birth defect. The Drs. say that she is lucky to have the hearing in her other year and most probably will lose it, too. They said it could go slowly over time, or she could just wake up one morning and it will be gone. Evidently there is nothing that can be done for this. Not a very pretty future for a 10 year old. :O(

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

They need to get her into sign language asap. That is one thing that my parents did not do for me and I wished they had. They sent me to a speech therapist, duh what good does that do if you can't hear the word?

(Chris) Des Moines, IA(Zone 5a)

Dusty, I entered the military just a few months before the war ended and spent my time in Germany.
I'm proud to be a veteran, proud to have served our country and I salute you!
To this day, I don't talk about Viet Nam and I wasn't even there.. I just saw the repercussions of it :(

Donna..you have dmail.

Chris

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Cookie...Are you off the phone yet??? LOL

I have a pan of Lasagna for you coming up....Let me know what you are doing...I have an idea if you are up to it...

Coushatta, LA

Afternoon everyone!!!!!!!!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Laura! I've been busy with Dave this morning cleaning and eating and what-not, so I'm on here for a bit then I have to go do some more laundry and seed cleaning.

Well I wanted to read what everyone else is doing today before I hit send, that didn't work so I'll just post again in a minute.

Good day Sistahs and Nieces.
Cody, I was too sick to stay up last night.. so I'll check my emails later today.
Lisa2.. hope you're able to fix your project. :( I know you've worked your behind off to please your buddy!
Donna, so sorry it's deja vu for you. Hope they will stand by their original pledge. Thank God you keep a paper trail yourself, so you're ready for that fight.
Hey niece Laura, just use an electric wok, and drop in a chicken bouillon in the boiling water for instant flavor. I bet Sage will have fun 'cooking' her own food. I love too what Stacey got you. Cathy, you got a charming DH. Don't worry about my fudge.. I truly have to stay off sugar. Thank you so much for the offer.
BJ, you kept saying your life is not your own anymore with Michael around now, remember? Guess what?? On SuperBowl Sunday, yours will be for the 5 men, yep.. yep...!!!!!
Cookie, you'll still love and spoil Lyston and she's lucky she's in the States. She'll have a life just like regular kids though she'd develop the skills to adjust to the hearing world. Maybe the whole family can learn ASL too.. all is not lost.
Hi Chris and busy Crissy!!
I respect your request Dusty... but somehow the thought of 58,000 sacrifices in Nam and we're approaching 4000th in Iraq...not counting Afghanistan, just make me appreciate what I got here.
The day I was sworn in as an American citizen, those new citizens in uniforms got our salutes and applause!
Well, pass the lasagna here.. :D

Coushatta, LA

Mama Jaye are you ok?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'm feeling much better Cody. Thanks! Think I'll do a John Deer quilt for Alex. Had to post it here, so I will have to do it!!! Now I can't promise when he'll have it.. but it will be before Christmas, at least!!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, got Don off to work... and have a little while to myself... finally.
So, I've repaired the hole in 4 pair of Don's pants pockets ... ironed the seams on the last 12 quilt blocks... baked some banana nut muffins with the 4 bananas that got too ripe... ate a bite of lunch...
And now, I am going to sew some on this lap quilt... it seems like it's taking me forever to get this done... of course... if I could work on it on a regular basis, without so many interruptions, I might be able to get it done... but that isn't going to happen anytime soon.

Yep... I'm just going to be the SLAVE on Super Bowl Sunday... but ya know... all my sons will be here, and that doesn't happen very often... so, it'll be worth it.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yah BJ, call them Sweet Interruptions!!!! Lolol!!
Me too got to get busy finishing off my gifts.. Cindy, give me some of that will power AND energy!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Debra we are right on the edge of it. I didn't go to work today because I don't know what it's going to do by 4:30pm, besides my jaw hurts quite a bit from the dentist yesterday, so fiddle on it.
LOL I do, Dave thinks I'm nuts but whatever helps. The only tree that has been lost was a huge Chicory or Hickory, I'm not sure which its called, it wasn't on our property, some uncleared property behind the house that goes down the hill, the top of it is sitting right on the property line. If no one shows up by mid spring we're going to cut it up.

Cathy I'm all electric too and don't have a generator.

OMG Fudge?? We're on diets so I'm going to be a good girl, for once, and pass on this one, I have a feeling that once I have some of your fudge I'll keep wanting it ^_^ Dave's bigger than he's ever been and is throwing temper tantrums over it lol! If I put any kind of chocolate in the house he'll have a fit.

I'm going to go watch the boob tube for a bit and do some sewing. I'm a bit bored being in the house but that's ok I guess, I didn't go to work because of the unknown ice conditions.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Jaye busy doing a whole lot of nuthin' right now, but I'm thinking of doing something so that counts, right?

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Ahhhhh .... Crissy, thinking counts for something ........

MY 2009 swap pressies came today !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Niece Stacey is so sneaky. She sent me a dmail telling me my belated Christmas pressie was on the way. Turns out - she's my 2009 buddy! There were two boxes and so much stuff that I could barely get it all in one photo without squishing it up together.

Niece Stacey, you definitely paid attention to my colors and Country French style! First, there is a beautiful hand painted box which is cream colored with green ivy on it. Perfect to sit on my computer desk. She also made 3 trivits from tiles backed with cork that are beautiful. The green is the perfect shade of green and the designs are in metallics. I love them! There are two other huge trivits with scenes from Paris on them, a rooster wine cork (I like roosters, too), two of those cool silicone hot mitts, some cute little spatulas, a photo frame in a gorgeous shade of green metal, a beautiful little flower vase (did you put the decals on it?) which I will definitely use 'cause I like to bring fresh flowers in the house, a yummy candle, peony scented lotion and body spray, and the funniest wine glass markers. Instead of the usual rings, they are these little stick on bobble-head kind of thingies with Christmas characters. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Niece! You really brightened a very dreary day here.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Here's a close up of one of the trivits so you can see the metallic paint mixed into the background and also used to stamp the fleur-de-lis. Ain't it purdy?

Now if we could lose calories just by thinking, I'd be a size 0 by now Crissy!!!

We had an ice storm a few years back. Don't want that to happen again....thank God for the generator to help keep the well running, plus the important appliances.

Sistahs, be safe....

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Cool stuff!

I've been crocheting like crazy! Had to take a break for my hands.

What's up Dusty???? Lasagna coming my way???? Oh happy day!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Awesome!!!!! Debra you must be one proud Auntie!!
Yah, our Stacey is sneaky.. but lovable sneaky.
Stacey, great job on those fleur de lis. C'est magnifique!!! Love the colors you had chosen so wisely. Debra, now you understand who's been asking to see pics of your home?
The vase is so pretty, is it etched?

Great job Niece!

Coushatta, LA

Thank you Mama Jaye, you are the sweetest person in the whole world.

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

I could no more do than pick up and fly...and I mean that....We each have our own things...
I can do Indian beadwork and needlepoint, and some crocheting, and thats about it...Oh yeah, and make some baskets...not great at that tho..Maybe when I'm 104 I can start taking lessons...LOL

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Afternoon all decided to pop in quick I have to start running…. was in the mid 20’s overnight….got around a half inch of snow starting between five and six this morning…is warming up to the low 40’s for a high today……………..is a slushy rain snow mix right now with wind in the 20’s, will turn to rain soon.

Donna, keeping you in our prayers.

BJ, a big hug for you….

Kim, be safe give everyone big hugs for us!!!

Jaye you take care of yourself….

Debra, what wonderful gifts!!!
Stacey you did a great job!!!

We had a bad, bad ice storm back in the late 90’s….don’t ever want to go through that again…..one of the strangest things I have seen in our part of the country. We lived out at the lake back then and our power was out less than 24 hours….mom was in Alaska with my brother which was good…her power was out here for five days. Right after that they went to underground utilities in this area and I think 30 minutes is the longest we have been without power since they did that.
All of you stay safe and stay warm!!!!

OHH We Like Lasagna!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Cody, tell that to Kel!!! Lol!! Anyway, I have some boy stuffs fabric left over from other quilts I made. Will be one good way to use them up.
Maid M, hope the dentist visit went well for you.
There is none here that's without their own special talents .. you got that right Dusty! Still yours is amazing.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, what is wrong with you? I read earlier that your not feeling well. Hope it is not the crud going around?
Kathy, how are you doing? Your swelling ever go away?
LK

Pangburn, AR(Zone 7b)

I was going to make the fudge and send it to everyone before Christmas as a suprise, but I got so sick, I just couldn't do anything. Since the Dr has changed my meds, I am feeling so much better.
Still have the back pain, but the pain pills are helping a little more. The appointment I had on the 26th, but that didn't happen. Brain Dead me sent my alarm for 5pm instead of 5am.(total brain fart) The new appoint is Friday. DH will set his alarm this time.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Dentist was okay. Just a small filling but I forgot my upper lip was dead and bought a soda on the way home. Can you say --messy! Oh well, I was thristy.

I headed to Joyce's for dinner--lasagna sounds so good. I did a "my version" last night but instead of lasagna noodles I put macaroni in plus added a carton of low fat cottage cheese. Must say it wasn't to bad but nothing beats a good lasagna. I'm on my Joyce--bringing the salad!!! LOL

Seems we are all having problems with the weather--it is beautiful here and I so want to work outside. Not today as I just got back home and tonight will be sewing time. Well maybe a little crocheting on GD's dolly blanket.

Jaye, please take care--we don't like or need you being sick, dear one.

Hi Rose, how it is your neck of the woods?

Has Tink posted yet with Flamingo Kim there? Can't wait for that post.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Cathy, I am so glad to see I am not the only one who does that! I very rarely set the alarm but when I do it is always wrong. Think I would learn--not.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Don't you just love sis LK!!! Lolol!!! I'm reading her post with a stern inflection!!!
LK, there's nothing wrong with me as of now. Got over my grief. I know Kumquat's just a cat, but all my furry babies are family to us.

But tomorrow is another day. I'll be seeing the doc again, this time for my diabetes check up. Practically have to be a vegetarian to get my sugar straight.

Think we experienced that too Cathy! Whenever Kel sets the alarm I had to double check.

Maid M, isn't ricotta quite low fat? I enjoy a good bowl of cottage cheese, with fruits. You too need to take good care of yourself. Extra vitamins, please, like I'd told Bonnie! All those activities can wear you out and lower your resistance. BTW, you're having grilled shrimp tonight :D

Anyone heard from Phyllis?

Off to visit some church sisters.. talk to y'all later.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Marion, your numb lip story reminded me of an experience years ago. I had a first date with a nice young man for lunch immediately following a dentist appointment. Bad idea ..... my mouth was so numb I didn't even realize I was dripping soup down my chin. We laughed so hard I was spitting soup. Was still laughing as I went to the ladies room to clean up and only then did I realize my attempt at applying lipstick before lunch resulted in my 'coloring outside the lines'. Geesh - how embarrassing.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I heard from Phyllis last night.. through dmail.

That's what happened to me last week... why poor Mike had to rush to the bus... I set the alarm for pm instead of am... but hey... Don's alarm is sooo confusing... but, I think I have it all straightened out now.

So glad you're feeling better Cathy.

Marion... keep a stiff upper lip, sistah... uh, well, when the feeling comes back, that is.

Jaye... I do hope everything is good at the doc tomorrow.

I'm going to meet the school bus so Mike doesn't have to walk home in this cold mess we're having outside... it's kinda miserable out there.

See ya later.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

The only alarm I will attempt around here is my Cell Phone Alarm....and I manage to mess that up occasionally......the only thing I want to do with Bill's alarm is trow it out the patio door and hope it lands in th bird bath!!! I hate that thing..

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Evening sistas

I hope everyone is still staying wamr and cozy but most of all safe in the way of that nasty storm. For now we are having beautiful weather but teh cold bottom half is supposed to be hitting here very soon.. So I am taking advantage to the weather and I weeded away some frustration today..

I did ave some luck though. I called a friend who is a grower and told her what was happening and she offered to see what she had that I could sell to make alittle extra on the plant business... Of course it will be a few weeks but every bit helps especially since most everything in my yard looks like cooked spinage...lol With that I can send extra income proof if they need it at the mortgage company. .

Chris I received your dmail and ill get back with you in a day or so after I here back from the lady I spoke with.. She really wants to help and said it didnt make sense to her either. .

Debra your box of goodies even made me smile.. What a wonderful surprise to get!

I tried to catch up but I honetly think my brain is on the fritz today and Im sorry for that. Im here browsing for a bit...
