Jaye, so sorry for the loss of your kitty. How sweet to bury him facing the morning sun. When our basenji died (they are very cat-like and follow the sun) we buried him on a hill overlooking our house and mounted a metal sun to the fence so it would always shine on him.

BJ, that's funny about not knowing which team to root for. Sounds like you are having such fun with Mike. Hearing that Dusty did see your brother gave me chills. How wonderful that she kept a journal. That journal has, no doubt, provided a sense of comfort for many family members of her patients.

I am so glad you are home Cody.... Just please rest up... Jaye, sorry your kitty got it... Some times those things happen... I know that does not help but I am sorry...
Well as you all know I have had a headache since Thursday and I went to the chiropractor and that normally hurts my fibro... Well Sat it was awful.. Sunday some better... Work up this morning and my neck was good but boy did my head hurt on the left side... Went to Chiro again and she did help the pain in the head... So after Chiropractor went to Sam's to get some food in this house.. Well spent 400.00 there then went to Food Lion spent 150.00 then went to Piggly Wiggly and spent another 60.00 See what you get when you don't want to shop as I hate to shop... BUT hey we now have food in the house...
I am getting so excited that Kim is coming... I can't wait... I wish I was going to meet with and sorry I can't remember your name...LOL brain dead moment...LOLOL But I do wish I was coming there also...
Ok have to go chop up a pork loin into to chops....

BJ, I am sorry I meant to comment on your statement about Dusty and your brother. I, too, had chill bums and at the same time a warm feeling knowing his name was in her book and their paths mostly likely crossed. The world is just getting smaller, isn't it.

Yikes Susan, you must hate to shop as much as I do for groceries. That is what our bills look like when I finally break down and go for a restocking. Did you get your pork loin at Sam's? I get mine there and have for years--have yet to buy a bad one!! Great on the smoker!!!

When I woke up this morning to Dusty's reply ... I had goose bumps and chills all over too. it's so comforting to know that she was there, and cared for so many. I also found relief in knowing that he didn't suffer long... he was DOA when he arrived at the hospital... that has bothered me for 30 years. It took the military a couple weeks after he was hit to notify us, and another month for them to transport him hime. Like Dusty said, that was a very busy year for us in Nam.
I would love to give Dusty 1000 hugs for what she did for me this morning... as would every family that's represented in her book.

Debra.. you're making me cry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have one of those garden arbor with a sun. I think I'll just move it and place it next to him.

To be able to come to a conclusion must be some relief BJ. I do agree, what a wonderful feeling knowing he was through where Dusty worked and she was able to answer some haunting questions.

Dusty, have said it before but will again: You are a true inspiration and how lucky I feel to know you if only by a cyber world. Hopefully we will all be able to see one another and express our gratitude for a job so well done.

I'm back at last...Cookie came and got me after I dropped off the Wheelie..and we stopped at Sams..She needed water and I got 3 of the 1lb pound cakes in a tray and a huge container of fresh CA strawberries...
I gave Cookie one of the cakes, and I'm freezing the 2nd one... She just took my Hubby over to the VA clinic for me...

I need to explain about my notebooks...They are the old fashioned hardbound blank ledger journals...They fit in the pocket of my Army shirt aka blouse, or my side pant pocket...I made notes of every patient that came into any of the field hospitals, or major (joke) hospitals that I toured on a regular basis...I also made entries on those who were brought in that were already deceased...I usually had wounded buddys there to tell me what units they were with and where they were from... Their dog tags told me the rest, and I looked up the info with Command in order to report the deaths accurately...
**Leave no man behind ** was the motto, and we brought in the dead along with the living on our evacs...It was understood...
I vividly remember one very young man who carried his dead buddy for 3 days through the jungle getting to the Evac point...He was seriously wounded himself, and nearly died, but he wasn't going to leave his buddy behind...I got the both of them on a stretcher (The same one) and loaded into my Huey and he only turned loose of his body once we got to the field hospital and I gave him a knockout shot...
And people wonder why the Nam Vets don't want to talk about what happened over there...

Shoot Kim I hope they all stay home... I needed everything ... So that is my fault for not doing it sooner but with not feeling well I just did not go... Well I got steaks and one for you in case we eat them for when you are here.... Yes I got my pork loin at Sams.... It is only new here just over a year.... I get my steaks at Piggly Wiggly as they are the best... I can get potato's at Food Lion/Sam's, for around 5 to 6.99 if I go to the Pig I get the same pounds for 3.49 So it is not that far apart so I do the best in the area...LOL
I just made stuffed peppers and they are in the pressure cooker now cooking... yeah.... Hope Kevin comes home hungry and not like Oh I don't want to eat at this time.. Then I will kill him...LOLOL I did get 4 meals of pork chops out of my pork loin.... so that is good...
OK have to go rest again... Sorry but I am beat now...

I will deliver those hugs for you in person. That way I get to share too. My ex-late Hubby was in during that time, but he was sent to Germany. I went along too and my daughter was born there and my son was made there. :O)

I have roast, potatoes, onions and carrots in the oven and Dusty told me to use beer instead of water. The smell reminds me of the restaurants in Germany. Guess I know what they used!!

I got the most wonderful box from Stacey today. Really put a smile on my face. The picture is below.

I went to Berties after I left Dusty and Jims with my pound cake and she gave me a plate full of pumpkin cookies. I had all the stuff out to make lemon blueberry chess bars, so we will be needing some of Jayes insulin!!!! :o) Not complaining mind you, love it!

We are expected to get 2-4 inches of the white stuff tonight. It will be wery wery interesting in the morning!!! Dusty is having some work woes....oh don't I know about that! I will be here to help out as I can!

Just heard our weather report - we are under an ice storm warning. Ugh! Said it could possibly be as bad as the one in 2000. It was BAAAAAAD. Electric companies sent repair crews from all over the country to help us out after that one. Thank goodness we got a generator installed this fall. Good on groceries but DH needs to bring some back up pinot grigio as that would be a true emergency if we ran out of that!
