BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

Donna, the pond that Jaye posted is actually in Dusty's yard which also used to be Joyce's.

Dusty lives in the house that Joyce and her hubby used to live in. Joyce moved across the street, yard or something into the other house they own because her hubby liked it better. Make sense?

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

OOO OOOpppps
Im sorry.. Wow it really is beautiful makes sense and its another ohio scene... Many cuddos to you on a very nice pond..

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Yes.. that is one gorgeous daylily...and I am blessed to have a good sized fan of it...Julis brother did not make it home from Nam breathing... This Lily was named in his honor, so makes it all the more special to me as I was the last one to see his eyes open and kiss him Goodbye...
I was blessed this Fall at Cookies mini RU to be able to finally meet A MOTHER of one of my boys, and it happened to be Jerrys Mom...Many huggggggs and tears and kisses...I always had wanted to tell one of the Moms, that my nurses and I looked after those we knew we not going to make it, with very tender loving care, and as CO I walked the tents or wards hourly, checked inbound Hueys and kissed everyone of them, and told them I loved them...
They needed to know that...and I needed to send them home with a hug and a kiss, and *job well done*...They knew they were going home in a box, and they needed to know someone cared...

I shan't go into detail...but some were so mortally wounded as to be in pieces, and every time I see Juli, I see her brother eyes in her eyes and I am sooooooo blessed to be able to gently hug her and send a kiss and a hugg home to Mother Hyatt...and know it came straight from her brothers arms through me to her almost 40 years later...

That is such a touching story Dusty it gave me tears, Thanks for sharing

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Yea me too sniff sniff

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

My cousin served in Nam, came home and continued his services here in the US. I don't know all info about his army career but he did make Major. Then was principal at a boys academy, retired, and still works there part time.

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Well ... I'm sorry Sistahs...Didn't mean to bring tears...
Kinda like Sweet and Sour sauce...It is soooo goood to see her...but when I do, I see him, and I guess it makes me Misty, and just had to share....Much love tween me and them...
I spoke to a Bro in Cincinnati this morning, and we were discussing snakes, and he said something...just an expression...that he had heard from a friend who drove a tank in Nam, and it stunned me for a few...and yeah, I had a flashback...Kinda like a DeJa Vu in reverse...LOL...It wasn't a bad one, but a hysterically funny one...Had to do with snakes...Nuff said.... ROFLLL

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

So you keep in touch with alot of the peeps?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Now you can't leave us hanging Dusty!!! Spill it out!
40 years... wow... finally Mother Hyatt got that last emrace via you.

My ex was in 'Nam. Did 2 tours. He won't talk about his experience to me or anyone else, except his cousin, who's a vet too. Once in a while, he'd wake up screaming.. bad dreams he'd said. I overheard when he's reminiscing with his cousin, how he saw his best friend blown off.
My heart goes out to all these brave service people.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

OK.. back to serious stuff :D...
No, I don't want any more plants that I must take care of indoors, Susan. Thanks.. unless it's silk!!!!!
I wish that pond's mine... but I have 'instant' ponds here. When it rains heavy, there will be like 5 or 6 instant ponds :D

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

I am in constant touch with alot of my Bros...and daily at work...The word has got around at the VA who I am, and where/how to find me...Many will come up to me and salute me and tell me who they are and when and where in Nam....and ask for their Hugg...They always get that and a kiss...In Army lingo..It is called, ** As you were, Carry on!**

Yeah Jaye, almost 40 yrs...39 yrs and one month and 20 some days when I got to Hugg Mother Hyatt last September...Jerry crossed over on August 7th, 1969....Will be 40 years this August...I had already been in Nam for 3 years by then..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey girls, how is it going? It is a cold 10 degrees here tonight in Grand Rapids Michigan, and i can't wait to get back home!
The other day, some one post a paragraph to find the books of the bible. Can you please send me that in a d mail. I can't find it anywhere?
Hope your all doing well, and I will be back home Monday night.
Be good

When my son came home he would have night mares and the bottle was his best friend and he would just cry and cry... Broke my heart.
Susan

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Susan that is very heartbreaking. My dad went through that bottle thing after he got out of Nam, except he discovered music in the bars and it became good hearted playing music and enjoying the "rewards" from it, 30 years later he finally admits he has a problem and is very glad his new girlfriend took him out of CA. To this day he can't watch any kind of a war movie, no matter how good or mellow it is.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Yep my cousin had some close calls himself. He was in a trench when a guy was "blown" away. I don't think I could have been a nurse over there. I wanted to go to college to become a RN but my hearing was too bad :( I loved taking care of people. I guess that is why I decided to be a C.N.A. and worked county hospitals then long term facilities.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I can understand why. I don't watch them either. My dad loved them. He was in the Navy in the early to mid 40's. His favorite was Tora! Tora! Tora!, LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Crissy my ex wouldn't watch any war movies. He said, the experience was bad enough.
Susan, ex is a recovering alcoholic. He's been sober since 1984. But his mind still needed to be 'reconditioned'.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good for him Jaye! I'm glad to hear that!

My dad drank in the bars for someodd 30 years, did 8 months in County Jail, then when he got out he was sitting at the bar playing free internet poker and met a lady from Joplin MO playing also. They started chatting over email and she came to mine and Dave's wedding on April 22, 2006 in Tahoe, NV to meet him, then she came back in November the same year and moved him to Joplin with her. When he moved he lost all of his "friends" which made him recognize that he did have a problem and he quit drinking. I know they go out to the bars once in a while but he never goes without her.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

That's the lady he should hang on to Crissy.
When my ex quit drinking, one good thing was, he made some sense whenever we fought! Lol!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL!! My dad blamed his drinking on everyone, and when he got his last DUI he blamed the cop! He was married to a cop for Pete's sake, my mom! OOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH it all just came together, oh my. Isn't it funny how things come together when you're writing it out?

I think he'll be with her for the rest of his life. I can't see them splitting, they are two peas in a pod, but I don't think he'll ever get married again, which is too bad. She has the guts to tell him straight up that he's not going to do something, like a mother, that's what he needs, a mother.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

crissy, did you get married in South Lake Tahoe. Rick and I went to a wedding April 21, 2007. April 22 is not a good date for me.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh do I ever have chill bumps and tears from reading Dusty's post. Not to worry Dusty, I think it does us all good to have the inside story put in front of us whether we like it or not. It is what happened and you, dear lady, are to be commended for all you have done then and now!

Hubby had a young man working for him who had returned from Nam and had flashbacks, I guess that is what they are called. One day they were working in the field (a deep injection well site) and the young man had a "flashback" got into the company truck and proceeded to take out several young pine trees all the time screaming!!! Talk about one frightened guy when he got home!! He actually was more worried about the young man than his safety--he was fine can't say so for the company truck or the trees. I can only imagine what their lives must be like.

Tink, I beg your pardon, we are ladies here--just ask me!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, I have my life back for about ... ummm.... maybe 10 minutes until Don gets home, so I thought I'd drop in.

Dusty... I will go to bed tonight with the thought in my head that you might have given my brother his last kiss and hug before they shipped him home from Nam... I think that would probably make my life complete at this point.

Nighty Night, folks.

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

This is my 3rd son Matt and I am happy to say a wife and new son has made the world of diffrence.... He is Matt again most of the time.. Once in awhile he goes into space to the war in Iraq... But this to shall pass I am sure...
Hugs,
Susan

Happy Sunday lovelies......
crashed too early last night. Am up too early... so there's coffee, bacon, good ole Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage, scrambled eggs with cheese, grits and sawmill gravy and buttered croissants. Only for you brave enough not to mind your calories!!!
Not as grand as a spread like Phyllis' Sunday brunch.

Do hope that you're back to feeling better Cody. Couldn't call you last night, as I 'lost' my voice. Much to Kel's delight.

LK, you must be ready to escape that cold right now.. back to tropical TX.

Breakfast's done, did a few housework.. so I'll just do like this panda here ..

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

susan, the hurricane is my DGD

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Susan, roll a towel tight and wrap it around your neck for support. That helps my neck pains a lot. Chiros are good in realigning you.. one had certainly helped my back a few years back.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

My noisemaker's up... day has just begun!!!
Have a beautiful Sunday ladies!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Kathy-get a baby monitor so she know if she gets up-awww-your poor booby:(

Jaye-did you find your voice?? I am sooooo looking forward to meeting you and Uncle Kel!!!

I am hoping that my mom can be the woman that Crissy's dad found. She met this man over the internet-a very sweet man, but a few yrs ago he had taken his daughter-I think she was about 13-out to a movie, and after the movie she called her mom to see what she wanted them to pick up for dinner-he was distracted by the phone call his daughter was having (not sure if the call woulda made any difference) and a drunk driver T boned them and his daughter died. His wife could never forgive him, so he is of course now divorced, still has a lot of issues with it-blames himself-goes to church and therapy to help him, but refuses to use a phone of ANY kind....he has some issues, but he cares for my mom and treasures her as she deserves, so I am hoping that his feelings for her will help him overcome some of his issues..

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)
