Ok, all of you fabric junkies, start talking away. Tell us what you like to sew, what are you currently working on. Where is your favorite place to shop for fabrics.

Meetings will be held the 1st Monday, 2nd Tuesday, 3rd Wednesdays, 4th Thursday or Friday of each month.
You should all have each others numbers, in case your having a relapse, or to tell us where the sales are!!! ^_^

LOL! Smart move, LK. Love your card. Did we decide on meeting dates and times?

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Yep, first meeting at my house (unless we freeze here and fall off the map) and I will have coffee, tea, cocoa and little sandwiches made like quilt blocks.
By the way, saw some darling pins at my favorite quilt shop yesterday that were quilted in the log cabin pattern. Pins were about 2" X 2" with lots of different materials. Really nice but working on materials that small...wow!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

My name is Jaye... I'm a Fabriholic ^_^

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Welcome, Jaye.

Hi Debra!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi my name is Cindy and I'm affaid I'm becoming a Fabriholic, lol.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hmmmm just found about 4 pattern packets Sunday while looking for a painting project packet...all done in quilt blocks...omg...I do need a coat/jacket..just maybe I should attempt to make another...have about 4 but one can't have too many...

Still have a cross stitch kind size quilt for quilting, a watercolor lap quilt for quilting, just finished last week 2 rag quilts and my machine is ready, willing and able to take on yet another project...

springfield area, MO(Zone 5b)

Hi
I am a fabriholic as well.
However my problem is I don't use it.
Now what do you do for that kind?
Is there hope for me?
:)

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Frilly, that's one of the main symptoms of fabricholism ...... constantly buying fabric and not using it. Good for you ..... acknowledging the problem is the first step to recovery.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

My name is Audrey, and I've been a fabricaholic for years!! Sigh!!!

Edited to correct a word!!

Welcome everyone. Have you chosen your fabric buddy? You need a buddy to call just in case you have a relapse, and just have that irresistable urge to go out looking for more fabric.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Amen.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

I'd like to ask Marion to be my buddy.

(because I know she is secretly an enabler)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Aren't we all enablers? LOL

Glenview, IL

I too...

A fabriholic as well.

I am not picky!

I am a dreamer of what it will be...

LOL...I will gladly help you get that material.

I found this poem on one of the quilting sites, and had to share it with you all.

LK

'Twas the Night Before Christmas Poem
(A Quilters' Version from EverythingQuilts.com)
T'was the night before Christmas and all through the house,
The only one sleeping was a Quilter's dear spouse.
The Log Cabin stockings were almost completed,
"Just a few stitches left," our sweet quilter repeated.

"Then I can hang them and head off to finish
the pillows I'm making, fulfilling Mom's wish
For something quilted to put on her couch and spoke,
as she pricked her poor finger, our quilter said, "Ouch!"

When from out in the kitchen there arose such a crashing,
she sprang from her work, and she dropped all her sashing.
Away to the doorway she flew like a plane,
wondering just what was happening and who she would blame.

When what to her wondering eyes should appear,
but Old Mrs. Claus and her bag of quilt-gear...
With her elves bearing gifts, through the kitchen she came,
she directed and pointed and called them by name.

"Now Elna, now Pfaff, now Bernina and Viking,
the Hoffman and Mumm should be just to her liking.
To the sewing room - there, it's just back of the hall,
now dash away, dash away, dash away all!"

"My Dear," said The Claus (as she liked to be called),
"There really is no need to worry at all.
Your projects will all be completed this night,
I'm terribly sorry we gave you a fright."

"Sit down. Have some tea. It's relaxing, you'll see.
My friends and I've come a long way to help Thee."
She thought she was dreaming, our dear Quilter did,
In fact she quite feared that she near flipped her lid!

But the flash of the needles and twist of the thread
soon gave her to know she had nothing to dread.
They spoke no more words, but went straight to their sewing.
How the work went so quickly she had no way way of knowing.

The stitches, how fine! The corners, how straight!
This Claus-woman's talent was awfully great.
They finished the pillows, then started to quilt.
Before they all knew it, the whole thing was built!

Now old Mrs. Claus, she knew quilters real well,
and she knew they'd need help on this night most of all
So she said to our quilter, "Just move over dear,
I've brought my own needle. We'll get done, never fear.

I told dear old Santa about what quilters do.
How they plan all these projects but have other work too.
So he taught me his magic for doing things fast.
There, that pillows done. Now this is the last.

They tidied their thread snips, and picked up the scraps
and chased our dear quilter's six cats from their laps.
As they scurried away with their thimbles still gleaming
dear Mrs. Claus paused, her cap ribbons streaming.
"Merry Christmas, my dear, now just have a ball!"

O this is so wonderful to find this group. I am not a fabricholic but I do need fabricholic help. We on the Rocky Mountain Forum are interested in flannel. Most of the flannel I've seen is plain, tartan or has designs suitable for children. We are interested in flannel with a pattern of dragons or mythical creatures. Does anyone know some links to sources that we might check? Thanks in advance for your help fabricholics.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Thanks so much Betty!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

YW, lol

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I want Linda Kay for my buddy!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I think we all have each other for buddies, that way, if one is busy, we can call on someone else!
Good night everyone.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Hello my name is Marion and this is my fourth time joining Fabriholics. I just have a serious problem staying away from the stuff.

WHAT? Did I see some one referred to me as an enabler? Me? Why would they ever say that?

BTW Dahlia, our paths seem to keep crossing from thread to thread. Try www.bugfabric.com You might find some neat things there. If not I might just be able to provide a few more.

Okay Debra, I will happily be your buddy--everyone's for that matter.

Audrey, I am sorry but I do have to ask. What kind of fabric are you? LOL

I do believe we had a schedule mentioned: First Mondays, second Tuesday, third Wednesdays, 4 Thursdays of each month we meet. Jaye, did I get it right?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

He he he.. yep, make it 4th Thursday instead of Friday.. can't stop Debra from her quilting classes.. she'll have BAD case of withdrawals..

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Ah I think I am going to need buddy help right away. Should I come home from Gainesville via the quilting shop in Trenton or just take 75 to 10 and be a good girl. Same distance driving wise. If I go by Trenton I could visit my friends there and well, if a piece or two of fabric just happened to follow me to the car can I help that? Nope! I just can't let it beg to keep me company on the ride home then leave it there, now can I?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Now you can't disappoint your friends can't you Maid M.
Go on and reward yourself for being so thoughtful.... with a yard or two or three to complement your dessert fabrics ;)

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

OK, Marion! I fixed it! But I'm ANY kind of fabric!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

.....but Audrey I thought it was cute the way it was. The devil made me ask. LOL Good night. I am off to bed--long day tomorrow--driving and then the meeting. Things start getting really serious now with the meetings so it could be a late one. Thank goodness I am staying over this time.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

The flannel link was too powerful - couldn't keep from clicking on it. What did I find???!!! Michael Miller flannel! Ohhhhhhh ....... I feel faint ..........

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

My name is Janice and I am a serious fabriholic. I keep watching the ads to see when fabric goes on sale. I set aside my Fridays so that I can go shopping for just that one more piece to complete my quilt blocks. I am so bad I don't even mind the snow and cold weather because it gives me an excuse to stay at home and pour over my stacks for fabric. I thought I was a lost cause until you all came along and provided me with another addiction; talking to you on DG! Now I know there is a world out there waiting to help me USE some of this fabric I have collected in swaps galore. Thank you, thank you, dear sistahs, for showing me a way to live with my addiction.

Glenview, IL

I am "sew" excited ladies!!
At last Payday, It's off to JoAnne's...
And for the life of me, can't remember where the Walmart is with the Fabric section still in tact!!
Man I should have been bad and got material with the credit card...too late.

I need to get an Acrylic ruler in order to practice cutting.

Oh my I loved the Raggedy Ann and Andy prints in that one site.
Thanks for posting...

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Just have to say that you are all the most sane people in the world. Fabric is a treasure. Having it in a box is like money in the bank to me. I am in fabric 'remission' so in denial or something. I have my supplies and my stash but have hardly sewed in years. so sad. But I cannot get rid of sewable fabric!!
Actually I did try to start a quilt two years ago. Lots of cutting squares and started to assemble but the next step in assembly wasn't fitting so I gave it up, plus thought twice about my color choice. So there it sits.

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Sally, you need to join in on some of the quilt block swaps.. All you do is make enough quilt blocks for those in the swap using your own pattern. Since I love to make blocks but don't always love to finish the quilt this satisfies my quilting urge and allows me an excuse to buy more fabric. Oops, said that magic word "buy more fabric". How many meetings do I have to go to before I get better!?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Well Sally, we can't have you just sit there with your stash. You have to do something with it. Welcome to the group. If anyone neds more fabric links. please let us know, and I'm sure one of us can help you all out.
Scroll down the page, and there are lots of links here to get you started.

Oh now we see who the real enabler is in the group. Linda Kay, have you signed up for that groups emails? They keep you posted on sales in about 180 plus shops. Every Fabriholic member needs to be on their mailing list.

Welcome, Sally, glad to know you think we are sane. Join us, we will certainly attempt to get you back working on that quilt. Just ask your questions and someone here might can give you directions to get it doing again. Just glad to have you with us.

Marion

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have signed up for them. I spend a lot of time at night, going through all the links to find the bunny too. And while your looking for the bunny, you can't help but look at the fabric. Some of them have really nice sales.

LK

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Have you found the bunny? I did and received a really neat pattern free. What a surprise that was!!!

Well I am packed, and ready to go so Poof!
