Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today #79 visit with friends...

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Yippee!! He's with Sarah!
Yes, they've ruined the show! Those were the main characters!

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG thankfull no one kicked the bucket..Sarah? now she's the one that had the past and did work in the casino's before..I'm great at watching just not the paying attention to names of characters..you'd think after all these years I would...or was she the younger of the 2 ladies...

Now how am I going to find a 'repeat' of that show..maybe on another channel this week..going to pay close attention to that...

Guess it's hard for these actors to go on year after year with playing the part of these characters..nice for a change I guess...

Going back and getting into my nightie..broke my 'do nothing' lol....

Thought I'd share a photo and a few words of wisdom I got from Kyle this morning...

I had gone out to help him at least do the front deck while he snowblowed the walkways, we were 1/2 finished so I said come on, we'll warm up to hot chocolate...put the milk in a cup to heat up in micro..yep, milk was all over...his words of wisdom..

"You don't do well with cooking do you grandma?"

No sooner had I shovelled off front deck that I filled a birdhouse full of seed...

What entertainment for Missy....she hasn't been out for most of the week due to extreme cold but I can tell you she sure wanted out when she saw the 'birdies'

Thumbnail by Bettypauze

Kyle and I decided that because Sailor loves to go to the back bush for her business and that the snow is so deep, perhaps if we gave her a pathway she wouldn't have to struggle in the deep snow...

At the same time, we were able to make a little pathway to the feeders which are now full...hope to give the birdies energy..

Kyle is such a nice young man..can call him that as he turned 13 in December..always willing to give grandma a hand...while doing my walkways the neighbor across the street was struggling to get out of her drive..of course she has 2 teens about 15 and 17..both in bed as comfy as can be..dad is a man of about 6'5", big man, legs are gone and can barely get around from an accident so told Kyle it would be neighborly to go and do their drive which he did...proud of him..maybe I'm biased right?

He's a perfectionist like his dad..had to get the snowblower swept off, cooled and then the tarp put on before putting it away...I told him to wait and I'd do it but no, he wanted to finish his job...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

A few years ago I bought Greg/Jeff a breadmaker..Kyle uses it all the time..Jeff, never so gave me his..on my way bringing Kyle home I dropped in for yeast and flour..haven't made one for years, perhaps this is the start of something good..lol...

Can't have homemade soup without homemade bread on a cold day can you?

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Although Sailor and Missy ventured outside, Riley was quite content to stay downstairs out of the cold...

Off to have a quick bath, do my hair, sweating under a cap doesn't do a hairdo justice, get into my nighty and get back ontrack...

Hope you've enjoyed my day so far...

AnnMarie so glad you are back and doing better. We would love pictures of your little one!
Oh, if you have Jesse’s phone number and could call her we would certainly appreciate it, we have all been very concerned about her. Please let us know what you find out.

I feel like I am in a heat wave! Our high is supposed to get up to 39 today….we are under a stagnant air alert and there is a burn ban in effect so we can’t use the fireplace unless it is the only source of heat. Sure hope it lifts soon….the fireplace is my main source of cheer on these depressing grey days.

Betty, just as well the young one is doing the snow removal for you, with a scratchy throat you don’t need to be out in the weather anyhow.

Soup sounds wonderful….have a ham hock and some split peas….that would be good to do this afternoon, have wonderful pumpkin bread (cake really) from a neighbor who I collected mail for during the snow…that would be a good supper after I get back from taking mum to the doctor tonight..

CSI it will not be the same now…..guess we must keep an open mind and see what happens from here….they really did a wonderful job with Grissom’s final show …and it was a fantastic ending..Bill will never admit it but I caught him wiping his eye a time or two.

Have to take Sage home in a bit then Mum wants to go to Michael’s or JoAnn’s…..needs to get a circle punch…..she has a half dozen I am sure, but none the correct size for her latest project! Oh well, can’t pass up a trip to the craft store now can we?

Nice pictures Betty, Kyle is quite the helper, isn't he?

Boy my boss was mad yesterday, he was so mad he was pacing. I feel bad for him but I can't do anything about it, just try to keep myself out between a rock and a hard place, which she puts me in all the time. I like the gal, I means she's not a nut or anything and very nice and reasonable to talk to, but she passes the buck every time she gets a chance. We need someone young who is training or has an Associates in Accounting to do that job. I know I don't want it, I want to do computer stuff.

Yesterday was opening day for the horse races in Hot Springs, so we went out last night to join the after race party, we had a good time and was home by midnight. Woo Hoo! Had Chinese Buffet for dinner too!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I don't know why you had surgery either, but I'm glad you are healing ok from it. Surgery on any part of your midsection is always difficult to deal with.

You should definitely call Jesse phone number. If something happened and she can't get to the computer she will be delighted to hear from you and would cheer her up to know that all of us here are worried. It's always a good feeling to know that people care.

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

Hi All,

I dont have time to call Jesse now, I have to go visit my son today. I dmailed her # to Betty. If Betty doesnt get a chance to call, I will try to call tonight and let you all know.

I had two surgeries, the first was on 10/15 for gall bladder removal, they tried to do it laproscopically, but gall bladder was too inflamed, so from that surgery I have 3 small incisions and then one large incision just below the belly button. Was recovering from that and wound up with a Kidnbey infection that spread to a blood infection before they finally got me on the right meds and cleared that up. Then went in for my regular female physical and discovered that my cancer came back again :( (Cervical) This is the third time, so I fought my HMO and they did a hysterectomy on 12/15. because of the 2 surgeries back to back..... Doc says to expect a recovery time of 8-10 weeks on being able to lift things :( sad because I found out the hard way last week that this includes holding my 1 yo grandson on my lap! pulled or strained something when he started squirming around and I couldnt even lift him to put him down! UGH! getting more strength each day...but sure wish I could be doing more gardening!

I feel so bad for those of you with snow outside right now! It is 75* outside, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, there is a slight breeze, and all I get to do is sit and watch the weeds grow :( LOL!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

O AnnMarie-that is just horrible, but I guess they are all over and done with now, so just need to recouperate-let DH do everything and you just relax!!

Betty-Sarah was the younger one-same age as Nick and Warrick, Katherine (Marg Helgenberger) was the one whos dad owned those casinos and she did some questionable stuff in her past....

And talk about crying buckets-when Warrick died I cried FOREVER!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks for the update..

Talk about crying, must have used an entire box of Kleenex watching "P.S. I love you!"

Just what I need when I'm not feeling the best, a movie that brings memories back, sentimental old fool that I am..if anyone came to the door I'm sure they'd think I'd gotten a call that someone had passed on...

Shortly after my bowl of soup, nose started to run and I started with a fever so have been on the couch taking cough syrop all afternoon...homefully I can nip it in the bud..

AnnMarie that's an awful lot of operations in a short amount of time as well as the stress of having 'c' return..glad they did the hysterectomy..better be safe than sorry...had mine when I was in mid 30's..wow that's many moons ago..

Stacey how are you doing with the crafts today..drats I hate it when I've planned my weekend and then spend it on the couch, you all know that I must not be well to give up crafting and just loafing around..

Sometimes don't you think they should just when most of the actors give up their roles to no longer film more seasons...

My favorite is CSI Miami, OMG what I wouldn't give for that cutie to put his shoes under my bed...when he puts those sunglasses on lol he's to die for...

Did you do any betting Crissy..we've a major Casino in Rama, about 1/2 hr. from here and then one in Barrie..the Barrie one only has slots and horse racing while the Rame Casino has a big entertainment and hotel complex with major shows every week...

Headache not helping here so back to the couch I go..just came downstairs to feed the furries, lock the basement door and get myself organized for the night...

My bread turned out wonderfully..thinking if I get ambitious I just might make a raisin bread to start early morning for a treat with my coffee...

Talk later

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Well, I got a lot of painting done today and finished my 7 item-now to put varnish on everything that I painted today tomorrow:( I hate that part.....

lf that nazzy car was in my driveway I'd feel 20 years younger! You'll going feel grat driving that Mustang Linda Kay. Is it blue or purple? Beautiful whichever color it is.

Glenview, IL

S C E R E A M I N G!!! in Delight.

Linda Kay, Y E A H H H...she beautiful!

Enjoy and be careful.

LOVE, LOVE the color.

Glenview, IL

OMG, just smiling...
Last car i smiled so great at was my RC Cola Blue PT Cruiser.

So happy for you.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

I love your Mustang, we have one too and it is our pride and joy. I am wondering what color it is too, though my h would know if I asked him, since he is a mustang fanatic.

Betty that cold is just too darn dangerous and miserable. Will Sailor use pee pads? I can not even imagine what your electricity, or gas bills are for heat.

Nobody here seems to have it quite as bad as B, as far as weather is going, but much more shocking than I am use to or more than I think I could get used to.

This is our cobra, it is called Mystic(the color changes). It looks green or purple most of the time. Some light makes it pinkish and gold.

here is the gold a little.

Glenview, IL

serious...
and...ly!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Love the cobra, very nice!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Very nice 'Stang! It's sweet!

Betty I'm sorry you are sick, that bums me out, but I'm glad I talk to you via computer so I don't get it! LOL!!

No, we didn't do any betting this time. We know one of the Jockey's so I want to go see if I can find him on a horse! The races usually end around dark, they don't have any lights out there, and I don't get home until about dark and Hot Springs is still a good 20 to 30 minutes further from the house. Dave just wanted to go for the party. He's quite the party animal but didn't want to go out tonight, must be tired which is good because we don't need to be going out every weekend day, it gets old.

I'm glad they gave you a hysterectomy, that's the best way to go when you start having any kind of female problems.

I think I'm going to go to bed finally, gn and I'll see ya'll in the morning.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Both those cars are beauties..
Takes me back to when fast sporty cars were a must have, and the thrill of just going for a cruise.

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG love those cars girls, my girlfriend got one for Christmas from her hubby last year..not sure what the year is..she stores it for the winter..thank goodness...

Now Darlene just got a 2008 think it's probably the new replica's of the car...convertible and all..

I keep saying my car will be the last, I can sneak one more into my life I'm sure..maybe when we get to that stage we should all go for the gusto and get that eye turning car...

Ride them wild for us..lol...

We had an Oldsmobile Starfire, in 1963, had the undertones of pink/mauve..had long hair that blew in the wind as a hubby who loved speed drove..what fun we had...always said it would be speed that would kill him (NOT)...

Crissy out most nights OMG how can you keep up?

Good sleep and I just got up/having my first cup of coffee, still a little feverish, chilled but I don't have to go anywhere today, let me refresh that, CAN"T or SHOULD NOT go out today blizzard conditions...saying it's in your area as well Carol..

Half listened to a weather report and they said the BIG storm is coming later this week..now that's something to think about..

Everything Kyle cleaned yesterday has to be done again..I believe they spent the night up on the islands so up to me to get it done..my thoughts is to wait until it dies down a bit..if I left it well it would just mean tripple the work next time..

Glad Stacey you accomplished your projects am sure you are feeling good about that..as for me, well no go, maybe today..only one to do...

Off to put raisin bread on, forgot last night
Talk later

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Morning Betty..big snowfall overnight here..still coming down..
Glad you are feeling a bit better.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Betty-you just stay in, cuddle up, nap and watch TV today-aren't there any neighborhood kids you could give a few bucks to to shovel for you?? Or call and tell the boys that when they get back they need to come over-you are sick and DO NOT need to be out in the cold!! Seriously, do you want to make it worse??

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Stacey..I'll second that! LOL

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Yeah Carol-lets get her!! Shame on her for even fathoming the idea-shame shame miss Betty!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Can't always depend on people you guys..will do it in small increments but not until is calms down..

I'm working on my '7 Item Mystery Swap' so must be a bit better or I know it has to be out shortly..it's something that I can do at the couch while resting now that I've cut most of it..hey love it so much making me one as well...

Carol, while putting ingredients in for Raisin Bread I was looking for spoon set for measurements, guess I don't have one but came across and I believe you sent it to me (pardon me if it wasn't and I've forgotten who?) must mark these gifts down somewhere...anyway it was a little creature about 3" long on legs that you fill to specific measurements...came in handy and so cute..out it stays..

Can you all believe they say a 'bad' storm is coming in by the weekend?

You poor folks that have no snow must get tired of our complaining..promise, we'll listen to you when you get your hurricains, fires, monsoons and earthquakes, extreme heat etc...just our turn right now..lol (not funny to have any of them though is it)

What are you going to entertain yourself with today Carol, not going out are you?

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

HI Betty,
I just came inside from shovelling..while my neighbour uses their snowblower to clear my driveway. It is still coming down though..it was quite deep so I would skim off some of the tops of the drifts, just so the snowblower wouldn't bog down too much and I do the walk and a bit of the deck.

No I am not going out in the car anywhere..I have all I need..right here. I might watch one of the DVD's I was given at Christmas.

Sorry,...I am not the one who sent you the measuring spoons.

Your talk about making homemade bread intrigues me. I never had a breadmaker..and the only time I have had some made by someone else..it was too dense for my liking.

Take it easy..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Betty I don't have hardly anything going on. We take either a Fri night or Sat night out, usually Fri. There's been a lot of drama at our watering hole, Bogart's, and my friend was laid off, but last Fri she worked so we went to see her, then she called Sat and said she was working that night too, and since she just started college to become a RN she didn't know if she would ever work there again, so we ended up going out Fri and Sat nights last weekend. It happened to be wonderful because our favorite DJ, Josh, quit working at our back-up watering hole (Crosswalk's) and everyone at Bogarts, 7 people, kept asking why I wanted to find him, "he's an idiot." Well he showed up that Sat night and I chatted with him for about an hour, he has a degree in Psychology plus went to DJ school, and he's very intelligent and knows exactly what he is doing, so hardly an idiot, more of a threat I'd say. Dave has to work tonight and I'm off tomorrow so I might go visit his girlfriend tonight, or I might not. lol!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I don't mind all ya'lls complaining about the snow and blizzards and storms and all that! I'm learning from it...learning that I'm glad I don't live up there LOL!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

OMG, just went outside, not even a bite of cold air at all, going to be a Very nice day today! Woo Hoo I was complaining that I needed to do some garden work today and it was going to be cold.

Not to brag or anything LOL!

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Enjoy your day Crissy..
Have a look at this on my deck..

Thumbnail by Starzz
(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Hey-that almost looks like my deck!!LOL-minus about 2" of snow and the pretty chairs and voila-my deck!!LOL

Betty-I just worry about you is all....

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

LOL..
here is a cardinal this morning..kind of far away..but so red when you see him against the snow.

Thumbnail by Starzz
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

WOW I love the snow, it is soooooooooo pretty but I hate dealing with it on a day to day basis. Love the cardinal, looks almost black and white except for the cardinal. Very pretty!
