LOL, Bev...maybe she will snuggle back to sleep!
OH gosh, thanks for the warning Stacey...I figured I am going to need cleenex close at hand.
Yup LV is the only one for me.
I am so glad you are NOT outside today.
KO see you all in a while.
Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today #79 visit with friends...
OH I do follow CSI but haven't in the past few weeks...oh why do I need kleenex...
OMG needed kleenex on my way to work..tummy churning, white nuckles, shaking , brought snacks and ate them all as I was so nervous..
Going along, misty snow, ice roads trucks skimming by for seconds but what seems like minutes you have no clue what's in front, where the road is etc. then the goodpart came, couldn't see at all for almost 15 miles, prayed the Lord that at least we were only moving a foot a minute so no chance of getting killed...think (bad me) I used every bad word in the dictionary..why I'm on the road in that kind of weather I don't know..am here, still snowing, winds are suppose to pick up later...Paul was in the city and called in, spoke to his girls, Cindy said the drive wasn't bad so guess we are here until 1:00..wouldn't you know, I'd forgotten my cel telephone..going to do a 'winter checklist' of what NOT to leave home without..that most certainly should be the 1st thing on my list..
When leaving today I'm taking all the back roads, that way I don't have to contend with pressure of major transports passing by and not seeing the roads once they've passed..oh to live in the great white north..
In Toronto today a grid went down during the night, so thousands are without hydro..an alert community wide is on for people to check on seniors to make sure they can get to a warm facility..also warning about letting water drain ever so slightly so all their pipes don't freeze...man said he, wife, kids and dogs slept together under layers of blankets last night and were still cold..grid not to be up and running for at least another 24 hrs...
Carol, hope it's better weather in your neck of the woods...
Judy, good girl, you find some chores, make sure they are the ones you don't like to do yourself..lol...love the woodpecker...and yes, no hesitation in starting the car..
morning all
stay warm!
judy you will have to fill me in i fell asleep on csi
betty missy so cute! well off and running
have a wonderful day all
Ohh ..that trip in sounds awful Betty..
and no cell phone..Yikes!..
The weather here is fine..just really cold.
Hope things have calmed down by the time you have to drive home.
Isn't that awful for so many people to be without power for so long. I can't imagine it..itn these temps.
Just got back from the dentist..and going swimming later.
Judy..good pic of your woodpecker..nice red head..
here is a shot of one that seems to be a bit different..
I think mine is the Downy woodpecker.
Seed, maybe you have two kinds of woodpecker! Of course, you could have a pair!
Great day for swimming Carol..makes you think 'summer'...
Love the photo's of the birds...with the blowing and snowing this a.m. I didn't get out to fill the feeders but will this aft. - only 2 more hours and northward bound I'll be..
Must pick up fixings for homemade soup..maybe even flour and yeast for the bread machine..I DO NOT want to go out until Monday once I've settled in for the weekend..lol
Audrey how are you feeling...better?
Morning everyone. Betty, I hope your drive to work was good. Glad to hear you have a plug in for your car also.
Love the bird and kitty shots, they are so nice. Ladies, if you have to go out, please dress warm. Make sure you all have your emergeny kits in the car!
Take care
LK
Did learn the most important thing this a.m. Linda Kay was HAVE your cel phone with you..finally calming down after that horrific drive in..still lightly snowing but looks as though it will be a nice ride home..can only hope...
Wonder how many people are prepared with emergency supplies in their vehicles or for that matter even their homes..
Thinking of all those people in parts of Toronto with no heat..only option for situations like this if you are able to be mobile is to go visiting for a few days...lol
I feel pretty good this morning, thanks, Betty! Have on my "longies" to stay warm! It's up to 10*! Whoopie!
Guess the cold front just hasn't affected my area has it...was so funny on the news last night they left out a banada and it froze rock hard..they were using it as a hammer until of course it broke in half...we got to keep our sense of humour...
what do you have indoors Audrey that can keep you busy?
My computer! LOL! I have plenty I could do, I just don't want to do it! I'm just not in the mood to sew, though I need to make a quillow for Lisa's boss, and I could do some Santa's. Do you ever get in that kind of mood?
OMG so cold the school buses won't start! Ok, I said that out loud to stop everyone from fussing about it, I'm really tired of hearing it, and they extenuated their southern drawls and now they're all walking around, "Now that's cold up there, yup it's cold up there in that there part of the country." LOL!
lol Crissy..our way of life I guess..
Audrey, I do get like that..sometimes I just force myself because if I don't I know I'll be disappointed that an entire weekend has gone by and nothing to show for it..but I can relate..I've a painting project and a stained glass piece that's been around much too long..I vowed at least one would be done by the end of the weekend..we'll see...a comfy couch, nice rag quilt to cover meself lol does seem equally as much fun
I loved to make quillows...do you tie yours with embroidery thread?
Betty, you talked about going shopping on President's Day in Feb. where are you going and where are you going to cross? Sounded like you had some shops in mind to shop.
Glad you got the plug on the car found and used. That should really be a help.
I am in for the weekend. Not going out until I go to work on Tuesday. Flying to St. Louis next Thursday and they should be having about the same weather as here. A little warmer by then but maybe some snow. Should be fun flying and then I'll rent a car to get to my dads'. Trying to make up my mind if I want to take Cedric with me on my trip. It will be during my week since I wont get him until late today. Thought he might like to meet a 101 yr old man (my Dad) and see if he can keep up with him!
I'm sure they would Janice...does your dad live in a seniors complex Janice? will you be able to stay with him or must you find accommodations...you never mentioned it, perhaps he's one of those who were blessed by God and can stay on his own...
Time to leave, bright outside..doing happy dance...tell you won't take me long to get home, get a few groceries and into my nightie...
I'm jealous Betty! Big Time! I was going to ask if I could leave an hour early but my boss just gave me this big project and I won't be back until next Wednesday so I don't think I will, even though I know he'd let me.
Sorry you didn't get off work early Crissy..we've been lucky with a 1:00 closing on Fridays but has now ended as of today..Paul said from now on it's business as usual and we work till 3... still better than 5 I guess..
Hope safely, sunshine but roads are so hardpacked they've turned almost into an ice surface...took my time, did my groceries, was going to head into Midland to Fabricland but nope, put on chicken and mixture for soup...shake and bake chicken in the oven, going to sweep up, quick dust, into my nightie and voila..lady of leisure right up to Monday...and I'm sticking to it...lol
Dad lives in a Senior complex but in his own apartment. He goes down to the dining room for meals, is in two choral groups, and plays bridge about 8xs a week. He will go out with the family on the drop of a hat; uses a walker when he goes out. He makes his own computer birthday cards for everyone in the family with pictures and does his own taxes on-line. He is amazing! Last year was the big party for 100 birthday but this year will be just family for 101.
Mailman came today without Cedric. When asked he said he didn't know anything about the box. Called the Post Office and they said they would give it to him tomorrow; wont hold my breath!
Ah Janice, what's with these post offices...best you enjoy your weekend, busy week ahead with what your dad's 101, resting up...your dad sure is amazing..
kids called to say they'd drop in when at the pizzeria..told them homemade soup's on so guess I'll have company for awhile...just finished my chores, looked around pleased that all is back in order now it really is nightie time..
Betty get some rest, stay warm, and don't work too hard. But please post what you do make. We love to see your crafts.
Mom-why don't you just go get the little guy?? Poor thing STILL in that box-he must think he's been forgotten!!
Betty-I feel ya on the drive-add darkness and that is a lot of my days-white knuckled and shaking so bad by the time I get to work I have to sit in my car and wait for my legs to work:(
Was reading up this morning just getting ready to post when everything disappeared.........then the phone rang, mum in tears...her knee is giving her a lot of trouble....it gave out on her last night, but she didn't call until this morning.....stubborn, didn't want to bother me until she made a doctors appointment and needed me to drive. They have scheduled her for an MRI tomorrow evening at six.....hope they get her fixed up.......she is another energizer bunny type like you Betty, and when she can't be going going going......well.....if mamma ain't Happy, ain't nobody Happy!!!
Stay safe, Stay WARM all....
Hope Cedric and Bailey arrive and get thawed out soon......not so much a problem for frogs, but little dogs like to be warm!
Have to run and pick up groceries for mum, have a good evening all!
Betty I'll quilt it on the machine. Do you still have instructions for making a quillow? I lost mine, and I'm gonna have to make them up as I go!!
Still no word on Jesse??:(
Betty - FIL’s surgery went well. We didn’t get the house we really wanted, the one in our neighborhood, the loft place we don’t think we can get; still looking.
Evening or is it morning...did relax, thank you..enjoyed just laying on the couch after the kids left for the islands...not fond of their travelling the bays at night but they are 'tree' marked and with the extreme cold 'safe' and Greg carried his GPS meant for lake travel..soup was delicious..so filling I didn't even touch the oven baked chicken..imagine me, home on a Friday night, doing nothing and even cooking myself..
Spoke with Judy tonight, she'll have to tell you her story..she sure can make me smile when she calls...
Laura had hoped you'd get the place you wanted...prayers going out that there is a better one waiting that meets your needs...
SO laughing Trisha..know where you are coming from on the 'if momma ain't happy-nobody's happy'...lol..got to call mine first thing in the morning..
Imagine Stacey you do get a lot of those travel days as well...nothing like taking your life in your hands..just looking out the window at the blizzard going on..know how I'll have to spent the morning but not having to go out driving in it is a blessing..
Watching Larry King Live with passengers of the N.Y. flight..now that's a plance that the Lord was travelling on, for so many things to go wrong and yet SOOOO right..am sure it will be a life changing event for all on that plane, to be against the odds and come out alive and well..how thankful their families must be....
Janice, you are settled in the the weekend as well..what is the weather doing in your area?
Audrey no pattern, always made them from memory..
only thing one had to keep in mind was dividing the 'quillow' top in 3rd's..the actual cushion part being sewn into the middle 3rd...do a mock one in miniature on a piece of paper or material...use inch measurement instead of foot measurement...always the best thing to do...I always tied mine, wasn't that industrious to do it on the machine even though I can free-hand quilt and have the side unit for my machine..
Linda Kay will show you what I've made, might be on the sly, one never knows who is lurking from the swaps..lol
Best be off to bed... doubt I'll sleep now that I've had a few 'nappies' but I'll try..
Meant to add Laura, keeping your FIL in my prayers..glad the operation has gone well..let's hope he continues to improve...
Hi all, I think I have finally caught up on all my threads!! LOL!
Betty, no word on Jesse yet? I sent her a dmail a few days back...to see if she ever received the christmas box that went missing :( but have not heard back from her yet. I have her phone number.....maybe I will try to call her tomorrow.
I am getting around alot better these days, no more wheelchair and no more walker! lol! was starting to feel like the grannie that I AM with all those contraptions! LOL! Still get tired easily, so just taking it easy during the day and trying to build my stamina up. Pulled some muscles last week when I had my grandson sitting on my lap. turns out 1 year olds like to move around, and when you use your arms to keep them in your lap.....you also use tummy muscles! grrr! so that slowed me down a bit, but feeling better now...and not taking any more chances! lol! DH carried my laundry baskets and grocery bags...etc :)
hope to be able to clean up some more beds this weekend....with help of some friends (they live in apartments and love to garden!)
Hi to all!
{{hugs}}
AnjL
Ann Marie-even though I have no clue what your surgery was all about, I am glad you are felling better!!
I am in for the weekend, did some laundry this am-have to get the Xmas decor down and then I am a crafting fool all weekend!!LOL I picked up some special stuff to make for Jaye and want to put a dent in that and finish my valentines day swap, also get my others that are done packaged and ready to mail...
AnnMarie I'm so pleased your feeling better..have a wingding and let those friends who offer to help yet we never take them up on it come over..we're many times too stubborn for our own good...you'll have to post photo's of that grandchild...Could you d-mail me Jesse's tel.# as well..I'm almost certain that perhaps DH is not helping her anymore and she no longer has access to phone or computer system..we can only hope that one day she'll go to local library to post a hello so we'll stop worrying about her...
Terrible feeling when you lose contact with someone who has become a loved one..another DG friend on this thread went missing and I tried everything from calling local police to the municipality in which she lived in, to calls-d-mails and I just hurt terribly thinking the worse..did hear from her eventually though she wasnt up to communicating..very rarely I post and my thoughts and prayers aren't with her...
Stacey you are in a good place, inside and crafting..you'll have to post photo's of your project if you can without giving the gift up to view for that person or d-mail..always enjoy seeing what others are doing...
I've just made the tour of the house, heaters, fireplaces and furnace on..it's a cold one, looking outside at the snow that's fallen I know I have to get dressed and push myself to get the snowblowing and shovelling done, but must wait till the municipality plows the roads and my plowman come to do the drive, then I can do my part..looked out at back metal shed, have to remove the snow from the roof as well otherwise I know what will happen-roof will cave...sounds as though it's a lot of work but probably nomore than 1 hr...could call Kyle to come and do it but the excersize will do me good...I keep swallowing this morning, itch in my throat..won't be happy if I catch what Paul and Suzanne have so I'll baby myself with different meds..should do the trick..
Stacey I've a few project as well to do..because of time lapse for certain things I can work back and forth on both..
Might be a gabbing day for us here as we'll all be housebound..lol
I always craft like that-at least 3 things at once so that while paint or glue or whatever is setting/drying, I can work on another:) I will have to dmail you them after I am done-are you in the Vday swap??
Sounds like we are all crafting today. Finished the T-shirt quilt for my DSIL last night and even got it tied. It will go in my suitcase to take to him when I go to visit Dad. Now I can have fun, fun, fun... working on my 7 items and two quilt block swaps. there are so many pretty blocks out there to make I can't make up my mind which to use for what, but it is fun trying. Must run out for a bit to pick up 1 more thing and JoAnn's has their fat quarters and quilting fabric on sale so I might just peek in. Gotta do that early as we are looking at another 3-6" snow by tomorrow morning. this time I get more than you, Stacey.
Going to settle myself in and be productive..made some calls, Ruby and mom..mom wasn't at the cottage so I started to get worried..shouldn't have but she said she did dream about me almost all night and was getting ready to call me, had a feeling of dread, wondered if I was ok..maybe that's because I didn't call her this week and I usually do..she was in great spirits, has to have something done for her perifial (?) vision done first week of Feb. - think I missed a hint, she was asking me if I knew where this place was just across the border..heard of the town, there was a 3 piece small sitting room set she said at a very good price..think she was hinting for me to cross the border and get it...poooffff right over my head..not today though, starting to storm, nope, not travelling anywhere, but will tell her if sale comes on again and weather ok..I'll go!
Didn't want to get dressed but thought I must .. you can't be out in snow up to your..well that's too graphic...just have to be dressed...Kyle called and said there was much to much snow for me to do and that his dad was driving in over in a 1/2 hr and he'd do it for me...that's a plus..guess they don't want me to move..lol..keep telling them much to much work in winter time for this gal, apartment living much more appealing...funny how that works, getting lots of help of late...aren't I terrible..
Stacey I'm not in the v-swap..only the 7 item one and that is exactly what I'm off to do after my porridge that is..
I've homemade soup, chicken to warm up, going to make a quick trip to grocery store for 'yeast' homemade bread sounds wonderful and cough syrop.. once I have these, there is nothing I need or want to get me through the weekend..even good friendship on-line...
Good Morning!!
Oh My Gosh!! It's blizzarding again!
OK, Now the snow can stop...winter can be over and spring can be on it's way!
Anyone agree with that wish.
Bummer, Betty I hope you are not getting sick.
Now I am pouting too...Man, I thought for sure I would have Cedrick and Bailey for my Bahamama Party/Birthday
but now it looks like they wont get here till the week later.
ROFLOL, well, I guess I will just have to continue birthday!
Fairy, a perfect day to craft. Not much else one can do in stormy conditions.
LOL, Althought I am going to take down rest of decorations and prepare for Bahamama decorations!
not many but this place has to be beached up...
Liz...God morning, good morning! lol I know its late, I acutally slept until 6 today. lazed about and watched a movie.
Do you know how long it's been since I did that? forever.
OH my, Stacey, I did cry too during the entire 2 hours CSI. I am not so sure if I will enjoy the show anymore.
You know all the best people are gone. But I guess I could give it a chance.
Yep, Betty...It is always awsom to talk to you. Hey I still have a half hour on my calling card!!
I got to tell you, it sure is nice to not worry if Steve will have a coniption over phone bill, lol not that I really worried about it before.
Hahaha, always fun to laugh with you. ...I was telling Betty about how I called the police on Steve!! LOL, the man had me worried half to death for not answering me until the afternoon. I had him frozen and worse suffocated at the cottage! Geeze that guy knows better then to make me worry. So then He txts me in the afternoon to see if I was still upset and to tell me police never came.
hahaha, I told him it was because I called police back to cancel frozen husband! Still no call this am, but it is Saturday so I'll not panick.
And Thank you Liz for calling at lunch to calm me down!
So, I will get fire started and catch up in the threads.
So what is everyone else going to do today?
Audrey, I am also going to watch the birds, maybe we do have two different kind of woodpeckers.
Also, plant report...my house plants are blooming!! It's seems to be way to early, but usually an indication of Spring.
Gita, what do you think? LOL, see finally a plant question.
Well, i best start my fire...
See you in a bit.
Judy, you've got to tell me about CSI ..please/please..I didn't watch the show, didn't realize it was a season ending...do tell ...waiting on baited breath..off to see your last santa..lol
Judy you are not going to tell me they all died are you..see from your post saying won't be interesting anymore with no-one there...ending must be like a dream just like on 'Dallas' remember that? I stopped watching then as it was just too far fetched...
SOMEONE please spill the beans...
No Season Ending just that Grissom left to be with his honey down in the rainforest. It was a 2 hr. and they not only solved a mystery but he had time to say good-bye to everyone and find a replacement for himself. Wont be the same without Grissom and his bugs and straight faced answers to questions. He was the rock that held that cast together.
Sometimes you can see that it is an ensemble cast; like NCIS; everyone gets along and supports the others, but CSI never was like that. They had internal spats all along and now with three of the originals gone it will probably fall apart.
Me too, Betty! I missed part of it! I just know Grissom left the CSI. I don't know why. And I know Marg (?) is not there much anymore. I loved those two together! Maybe they'll have a new show together! Wouldn't that be a good one??!!
WHAT SWEETIE? Was it Marg? I can't think of her name in the show.
Thanks Janice...No it was Sarah, I just loved her charachter. She and Grissom were a great couple.
You are right Grissom was the rock. Yes, he said goodbye to all last night.
But it was the reaction of the others that had me balling. Like when Grissom told the young coronor he was going to miss him.
OMG...and when Hodge gave his little speech, that guy really just grew on me.
But Betty, you did know Warick was killed right. I miss him too.
Yep, i do love how they ended, with He and Sarah together in the rainforest. I just knew they would get back together!
It was just perfect.
But, you know it was funny, becauseas he was walking through the office looking at everyone, I knew exaclty how that closure felt!
LOL, just went thgrough the same thing. Dajavue.
