oooo-me 1st!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ok ladies, we've all been worried about Jess (Plantcrazii) her last post saying she was not well was Christmas Day...I've e-mailed Plano Police Department asking them to either make a visit or direct me to a local organization that would do it for us..told them it was an emergency and that we are quite concerned...so now I wait for a reply...

Not off the wall to do so is it?

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Not at all-we have done that on the SI thread a couple times too-just to make sure-just lookin out is all....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just got a response, gave me a contact number to call for a 'check in' but can't call from here so will try when I get home...

Audrey/Bev..it's much like our pay as you go then...if you purchase $10.00 or $20.00 for $50.00 and you don't use that time value in the month you lose it..yet if your purchase $100. pay as you go card you get to keep any unused time...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Betty, thanks for the d mail, on this new thread. I do hope you find Jesse is doing fine.
Keep us all posted please?
Betty, love the quotes.
LK

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, thank you so much for the link.

Not at all off the wall to call the Police Dept. on Jess. Please keep us all update if you hear anything.

Freezing here, temp plumeted from 11 down to 2 now...and wind is picking up again. They say it is only going to get worse as the week progresses.

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie heard on the news that traditionally the next 2 weeks are the coldest of the winter and that in February the first 2 weeks are those with the most storms...so just think of all the fun we've yet to have...

You virtually because I'm close to windows can feel the cold plumeting as well..not sure how much more than -29 we can go but am sure we're about to find out...

A quick ride to Greg's tonight to check that silly heating cord on the car then it will be home, turn up furnace, put the 2 fireplaces on, cover myself up with my blankie and do nothing...does sound like a plan doesn't it...

You know Debbie I've been doing some research for Presidents Day which is Feb.16th - same day as our Canadian Family Day..same Monday..do the sales happen all that weekend or the Monday only..wanted to cross the border at Lewiston do hit Joanne's Fabrics and of course a few other stores..providing of course no blizzard and good weather reports for 2 or 3 days during my travelling period?

Would love to get away even for a night..nice buffet and hotel not far from the outlets..lol

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, this particular plan gives you rollover if you don't use all the minutes in a month. I use WAY more than that! I'm going to keep the one I've got for a while, just in case I don't like this deal!!
Sounds like I bought my long underwear just in time! Still 45* here, but down to teens, I think, tonight and 5 tomorrow night. I may stay in bed with my electric matress pad!

Lyndonville, NY

Doe, do you see a big difference in the electric mattress pad compared to the electric blanket? We have a electric blanket with duel controls....DH can't stand the heat....but I freeze. Is there duel control on the mattress pad also?

Debbie

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

OOPS! Just checked Weather Bug! 2* for tomorrow night! Brrr!!! That's hot Toddy time!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, I had the electric matress pad and so much better...oops leaving for home..be back

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Debbie, you can get them with dual controls, mine only has one. I think the difference is if you get to warm under an electric blanket, you're not supposed tp fold it back. With a mattress pad you can just throw off some cover! I turn mine on about 30 min. or so before I go to bed, I keep it on 3 or 4. I turn the top cover back down to the foot of the bed. When I get in bed, it's nice and warm for my ice feet! I also have a 45x60 fleece throw next to me over me and I wrap my feet in the bottom of it!
Just think what time does to you! I used to sleep with my feet out from under the cover even if ice would freeze in the bedroom! Not now!!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

My ex used to say I kept my side of the bed so hot he couldn't even stick his toes over there! Hee hee hee!!!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

The quotes are fantastic!
Glad you decided to check on Jesse.....I don't know her story, but have learned just enough that it is very worrisome that she has not posted recently.

Took Laura and Sean to look at a new house today.....I sure hope they get it. It is a nice place...they can have the cats, it is close to school and the landlord is open to whatever gardening Laura would want to do!!

She is not feeling very well right now.....they got a call from Sean's mother last night...his stepfather is in the hospital...he has diabetes and complications that are terminal. I don't think Ron will be with us much longer and Laura and Sean could really use your prayers right now.

I have to take Bill back to work and take Sage to her visit with her mother so will be in and out the rest of the day. Every one take care......will be waiting for word regarding Jesse......

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Me too. Wasn't she complaining that her blood pressure was way high and she was worried and going to the hospital that day?

Love the quotes Betty!!

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I wanted to comment on the quotes also. Loved them!

Doe, I have the same problem with my feet. They are like ice, no matter what is on them. The doc tried to tell me it was from my low thyroid, but they are still cold after four years on the meds. My Shannon has the same trouble and she is only 18. As cold as they get though, I can't sleep in socks...it gives me nightmears for some reason.

Thank you for the input on the mattress pad. I might just check into those.

Debbie

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Betty,
I decided I would get my Chevy Cavalier car manual out and find out where my engine heater cord is too.
They call it an Engine coolant heater..not a block heater..and it is different than a block heater.
But serves the same purpose.

My cord was on the passenger side in front of the engine coolant reservoir.
I am plugged in for the night.
Hope you find yours ok. It is colder up there than it is here..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Carol, dah, never even thought of my manual, how stupid of me...dropped into Greg's he was on the way to a dinner meeting and Melanie had Noah for hockey and Kyle for cadets..as I had my camera incase I passed that church that was for sale I took a photo of Kyle..looks like a young man now he's 13...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Greg did check to see for the cord but neither I or he could find it..hate to go outside but I will go out to get the manual and read up on it...sure don't want to be setting the alarm to go out 2 or 3 times tonight..can be colder temps than last night.....Sailor put her head out, I had to shoo her out, I'll tell you it wasn't more than seconds and she wanted in..can't blame her...

Got to do a clean up..got this bag full of goodies given to me..lots I can't use, some I can so will pick the good and get rid of the rest then to bed I go...

Mad at myself..thought I e-mailed myself the Plano telephone number for the agency that would check up on Jesse for us but it didn't arrive in my e-mails...drats...

Although ladies I enjoyed my matress electric cover what I enjoy more is the sheet set I have now..forget the name but I'm always freezing, with them not only are you toasty, infact too toasty but once under them you can't move so I only have to pull the corner bedspread and omg bed is made...never put the matress heating cover on again...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Brrrrrrrrrrrrr! Think I will keep my rain...........stay warm Betty!

Victoria Harbour, ON

tks Trisha..hope Laura gets the place...will be nice for her to be closer to you...

Carol, just went out and got the manual..it says

Your vehicle MAY have...does tell me where to find it but it's far too cold for me in the dark to go looking, so will take my chances tonight..I'm off early Friday so will drop into the dealership..thanks for the info..had I thought of that lol although I thought they called it a heater block Greg might have found it..the MAY have it makes me think I DON't lol

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Hi again Betty,
Kyle looks handsome in his cadet uniform.

My cord had a covering that looks like black corrugated tubing.
and it was curled up and held with a plastic clamp.

Have a cozy evening..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Was watching A Channel news Carol, much the same for tomorrow and noticed Sat. I think it was -34...Suzanne was so sick today, she has appts. tomorrow know she'll go in but I'll drive myself in just incase she's not well enough to spend the entire day...

Yep, he's looking pretty spiffy isn't he...

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, he does look so grown up in his cadet uniform. I look at my son and swear he is growing every day. He towers over me now, and he is 15. He will come up to me and rest his chin on my head....asks "hows the weather down there!" LOL

Is there a chance your car dealer is still open? The service department would be glad to tell you where to find the plug by phone call.

Debbie

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

You are not odd at all Betty for checking in on her and calling the police, people probably do it all the time. you are not the first one of DG to do it either. I know that I worried about one of the cancer friends here, when I was first on and when we did not hear from Carmen for a while, we all started to freak and track down leads and send feelers out. Those who knew her number or knew someone who did, were dmailed etc. You know, it is nice here that we can count on our friends missing us and hounding us till we die. lol

Hi girls. I have heard nothing about the job, and it is Los Angeles County so I am sure not much will go fast. I am feeling a little better today but my eyes burn so much and I am so tired and achy still. I need to go soak in the tub now, I think. I will let yall know if I hear something.

It is 47 degrees now here, but in the day it was hot for the last few days, we have 80's and mid 80's. Odd! Oh NO. BURNT DOG FART COMING IN, I'M OUT OF HERE.

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL Dawn you are so funny...

Debbie it will be sad when I no longer have these little ones, they soon (although they say never) will have better things to occupy theirselves with and that's how life goes, we've all been there, done it..but for now I'll enjoy...

Went to bed early last night with neocitron as with Suzanne, Paul and Lee-Ann not feeling the best I want to try and doctor myself up to not catch anything..no sooner had I fallen asleep I got 3 calls fro DIL Melanie and Noah doing a class project, needed some french phrases/words..Noah decided to come over tonight and we'd get more done...at 9:30 I finally thought this is it will get to sleep, another call from grandson Caleb in Toronto..he's doing a Family Tree and wanted information...nice talking to all of them..good news, is I'll have company tonight...

Car is running..Oh happy days...I'll leave it for another 10 minutes or so then I'll start it up 10 before I leave...newscast just on, with the temps even lower and when you factor in wind chill there is a frost bite warning which is even more dangerous for many ...

They would like to see people have cel/boots/heavy additional coat/head covering of sorts and a blanket in each car just incase of either accident or breakdown..with frost bite which can occur in minutes at this temp today a person sometimes has to have finger/toe digits amputated...

Know it seems some of us (MORE ME) am going on about the weather..for some of you southerners our weather here at this time of year is about on same scale as your tornadoes etc.

Our damage is in a different way, pipes burst then flooding...injury to person... schools closed, buses not running...etc. etc.

Tried to get Sailor girl outside for her morning constitution, would go...but downstairs I've noticed she wet..poor thing ..must tempt her with goodies though to go out before I leave..it's a long day inside for her...

best be off...much to do..

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Morning all,
Glad to hear your car started ok Betty.
Being new it should have a good strong battery.
Well I am going to get ready to go now too..
Have a safe one everybody.

Cheers,
Carol

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I always carry all the extras in my car-overalls, coat, 2 scarves, boots, 2 gloves, 2 hats, blanket-just in case-I should probably have water and a flashlight too, shame on me!!

MORNING!!! Was 2 degrees this am w/o windchill, supposed to be about -17 windchill...tomorrow we won't get above 0, so WHOA will that be cold!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Carol, you be safe out there..

Stacey, think I'll play it smart as well and pack up a bag for the trunk..yes, water would be a good thing but wouldn't it freeze within minutes...

They had a physician on a few minutes ago and he was saying frost bite can happen within minutes...

Best we all be on the lookout for broken down cars or people walking..know you are not suppose to pick anyone up, but lordy, got to help your fellow man..

Driving myself in today so leaving early..talk later..

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I just have mine in my backseat thinking if I ended up where I couldn't get out to get in the back, I would still want to be able to reach it-and I always have my cell in my pocket, not anyplace it could fly from...

Glenview, IL

Glenview, IL

LOL, Are you talking to me?
Being up so early?

Man, i have got to tell you I never got up this early to go too work!

Now I am home and my average wake up time is anywahere between 5-and 6:45!!
Why, I have no clue. And i am busy almost every minute.

hahah, just weird.

Oh no Lemmons yesterday, so today I hope.

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning,

Quite cold here also. They are talking closing schools for tomorrow, especially for the kids that walk. It is supposed to be -25 with windchill. I had to run to the grocery yesterday, and stopped at the post office on way home. By the time I got here and got groceries in...my tangerines were frozen! I had DH's car and would have thought they would be safe in the trunk for that short of time.

We had about six inches of fresh snow overnight, the only one happy about that is Isabelle. I don't know how she can go out and just lay in the snow and roll...hates coming in!

Betty, I hope your ride in is safe and uneventful.

Everyone have a good day. I am realizing I have not much safety equipment in the van...and going to get that together! Thanks for the reminders.

Debbie

Glenview, IL

Yikes, Just dropped Breenie off to school...
My toes are numb! That was being in the car.
A very short ride..1/2 hour round trip.

My heart sure goes out to you Stacey, I can't even fantham a job like that. You are a Brave women.
...Although I don't get why the drivers need guiding?

Ok, I have got to get a fire going to warm this room up.

All I can do from here is offer you a warm cup of Chocolate, coffee or tea??
Sounds dangerous to me too, I mean do you wear bright orange...in these blizardous days.
Now I will worry about you being out there in such dangerous weather and drving conditions.

Well, anyone want a piece of Applesauce cake, Ruby's recipe...yum, yum this batch came out perfect!!

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

I am not going to complain about our -3 right now and a high of 0 only going to last a couple days then back in the 30s so all stay warm. HUGS BEV

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Because people seem to forget how to drive and what is appropriate while driving for this auction...not sure why though, they just do...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Stacey great idea about the cel phone being in a place that it can't go flying..if I ever get another vehicle I'll get one with onstar where satelite ability let's them know you've been in an accident..great feature, most of you probably have it..

Debbie, yesterday they were showing a full 8oz. glass of water was freezing in 10 minutes so your oranges wouldn't have a chance..now what will you do with them?

I watched the poor kids waiting for bus this a.m. no part of flesh was showing..then on the radio the newscaster was saying that buses were running up to 45 minutes late..regardless when they have warning out 2 things should happen...1 that they cancel school...and 2..bus must pick children up from home..very dangerous for these little gaffers..

With leaving early I got in 20 minutes before starting time..when nieces got in at 9:05 they said where we branch off on the little 400 to main 400S there was a bad accident..Suzanne is still not in so perhaps she's either in bed ill and can't come in OR she's behind the accident..

Judy I'm laughing, I'm the same .. regardless of a workweek or weekend I'm up before 5am..I've got almost a full day in by the time most people are starting...but I sure do crach around 7 or 8...look at all you are accomplishing Judy..by spring you'll only have the gardens to play in..
Glad the owners liked the work both of you did...have to get some pointers from Steve on a couple of projects...

Liz you can only do what you can do you know...did you tell her you've absolutely no time to help out..isn't that her responsibility..don't let her con you...

Think Paul was in the office this a.m. as all the lights were on..Suzanne called to say she was ill, asked if I could cancel her 9:30 appt. well no message on the system..bet he listened, cancelled the message and forgot to tell us..ooops...slap his fingers if he touches our things again..
