Today's Weather in Your Garden - 37

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

was -5 here this morning - it's warming up!

Yes warming up! Whoo Hoo. The sun is blinding though. 3-6" of snow starting tonight.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I'm in shock, this is what I just read in an article about the weather:

"The cold claimed at least six lives and contributed to dozens of traffic accidents. One death involved a man in a wheelchair who was found in subzero temperatures stuck in the snow, a shovel in his hand, outside his home in Des Moines, Iowa."

WHERE were the neighbors? Relatives? Someone must of seen him out there but no one helped? This just breaks my heart and I lose faith in mankind when I read this crap!!!!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - how awful.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

When I was a kid, we "hated" mom and dad for making us shovel the neighbor's walk on both sides, and also the kindly lady across the street. (she had the BEST cookies!)

I still shovel the neighbor's on both sides, but some younger [beep] moved into the house across the street .... he can shovel his own drive!!

That would be the day I did that if he couldnt shovel. Maybe he needs to be taught.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Guess who is the only one who shovels out the nearest FIRE HYDRANT that probably 30 houses rely upon. Everyone has kids they could send out to do it, too!

Almost 40 years and I don't think I have ever seen anyone out there but me.

I hate to agree with Pixie, but .... how the h-e-double toothpicks are these folks being raised that they raise such uncaring offspring?

:-

End of rant!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

That is absolutely horrible.

19 here dropping only to 16 overnight.
Starting to get cloudy right now snow expected after midnight.

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

20 below zero in this area..........the same possible tonight with light snow. We have not seen this kind of cold for years. Must be the effect of the global warming trends. ]:o)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's real cold! Saw a show today where it was 30 below. The guy took a cup of boiling water and threw it in the air. It froze before hitting the ground.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

Time to take a jog.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

just off the elliptical and it is now time to snow blow the driveway and go snowshoeing instead off x-country skiing before the games start this afternoon.

Thomaston, CT

You are too active, Bill! I'm dreading shoveling the front walk---gave up on the back patio since the last ice storm! I agree with the kids of today not wanting to do much--I'd pay if one of the little darlings offered to shovel---but no one even comes around--I guess they have too much money! Anyway--it's 18 & snowing---we have about 3", & can expect more. Good day to watch UCONN & football!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm supposed to be working out now myself. Feeling lazy though! Might shovel out a pathway if my plow guy does not come. Was just outside and we got just about two inches - the minimum amount that they will plow.

I'm for the Steelers and Cards.

Snow is tapering off and getting a tad lighter. 20º

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

ravens/Cards - hate HATE philly

Robin when i was a kid i used walk the neighborhood knocking on doors to earn a few dollars during storms.

gotta keep busy - this training for moving the 20 yards of dirt and another 20 of mulch in the spring:) And walking in the woods i found a deer stand on the other side of the pond - not happy they as so close to the house - maybe 75 yards - that will come down next weekend!

Tucson, AZ(Zone 9b)

77 degrees and Sunny!! :) ( you all can rub it in come summer when we are suffering!!! ) :( Linda

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

19 F and snowing most of the day and more snow for tomorrow and most of the week but since it means warmer temps I am happy with that the dog loved it outside today and my daughter went skating out on the pond so now everyone is tired and going to bed lol hahahah

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

17* this AM Hello out there.

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

That was a surprise . 3 inches of snow at 4AM when I got up. My neighbors still have their Christmas lights up which made shoveling nice:

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

It is still dark and 21 degrees with no wind. Looks like the secondary storm dumped more than the predicted couple of additional inches of snow. Hard to tell exact total but between the two storms, looks like around a foot out there. Predicted to get a little above freezing today with sunshine so let the melting begin.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

19 here... going up to 33... we had another inch of snow last night

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

I was surprised as well. 23°, but the pressure is falling, so I guess there's more of something on it's way. When I check Intellicast, they say more snow showers later, but it looks nice the rest of the week. Here's a shot out my back window.
