Today's Weather in Your Garden - 37

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

5 and clear.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Clayton Lake which is up in the Northern Allagash of Maine is at
-42 !! OK..not complainng anymore, im toasty! lol

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Sun is shining and it must be doing some good 'cause the temp has climbed to, oh just turned up again, right at 0º now. Any small amount of snow from that storm went south of here yesterday so things are looking up overall.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

-10 here - although walking down the driveway to get the paper it did not feel that cold - no wind helps.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - luckily there is no wind. You hit the limit of zone 6, Bill! One degree more and you're zone 5b.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

yeah i know - was looking at all the new additions as i walked down the ice way/driveway (gotta love those yaktraks) - sticks really at this point - wondering how they will fare - getting warmer tomorrow

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Wow Pixie! -25! My car started and I got to work--now to get home--suppose to snow?!!! I'm so glad bubbles made an appearence^_^

Thomaston, CT

It was -1 when the dogs awakened me at 8:30---smarties did NOT want to go out early this morn! It's risen to about 4. The paper said last time it got very cold -8--in Hartford, was in 1994---went back to my garden journals & checked out the winter of '94--it was minus 15 here that Jan.---we were potty training 2 airedale puppies---I remember it well! But when I continued reading into that summer of '94, guess what? Brutal heat & no rain---let's see what will happen this July!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

yeah, I don't mind potty training the pups in snow but this cold is the pits.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Well its all the way up to 13 degrees now. Bright sunshine and not much wind at all. Almost beach weather huh? NOT!
I hope we get some rain this year in July and Aug. The last two years we have had a drought most of the mid to late summer. I know everyone else was getting too much rain a lot of last year, but it was very frustrating to watch the local radar and see all those nice green and yellow blobs come right next to my area and split in half dropping rain to the north and to the south and nothing here.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

We're up to 3 yippee!!

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Nice clear bright sunny day...with a predicted high of 19.

Concrete statue I bought 20 years ago in Arizona looks forlorn:

Break out the shorts, Celeste! Oh man, David - he looks frigid.

oh my gosh - he looks like he dont belong here, like in Alaska.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

look like he is going to tip!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Too cold to figure out 15%!!

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

wha....he is leaning and I tried to get a straighter shot but ITS COLD OUT THERE!. I grew up in this weather but spent most of my life in the Mojave desert and south Florida. When the sun is out as it is today, I still catch myself headed out the door in a T-shirt....the desert gets cold but not hurtin' cold. You can always go out for a few minutes without pain.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

come on - i was just out with only a shirt on chasing deer out of the yard - stand him up straight - the way he looks now does look like he's hurting

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

17 low of 5 tonight nice and sunny though

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sun isn't doing much though.

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

I think pixie and I are pretty similar with the temps. right now it is in the single digits (way up from -18 this morning!). and now it is snowing. man am I happy I don't have to commute!!!

South Hamilton, MA

-4 here this morning Up to 16 now. Supposed to be though with the deep cold on Sun. Pixie, I can't imagine -24 or worse & I grew up in WI.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

My first thought was "this can't be right" when looking at my new indoor/outdoor thermometer. I ran outside to my Subaru which also has one and it said the same thing. I live directly across the street from the lake so im guessing that has alot to do with it.
I want to call the TV stations and tell them they were waaayyy off in their predictions!!!

Robindog...airedales are fun. Had an old army jeep. "Kemmere" would sit in the passagers seat hoping I would come out of the house and take him for a ride.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Back down to 7 already - yikes!

Pretty!

We are back down to -4 already..here we go again. Thank goodness the power is back on!

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

We had about forty people at the Health Gym this afternoon. That usually enables us to drop the temperature ten degrees over all the areas. Not today! Our major whirlpool with two outside walls failed to climb up over 101 degrees. These are minor problems in relation to the bitter cold outside temperatures. It was minus six degrees below zero last night which is unusually cold for our area. Colder yet to our immediate North. We have not seen bare or unfrozen ground since the week before Christmas. This is good for the flora and fauna.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

pixie your zone is the same as mine 5a and we usually do not get extreme cold like this so I
am not use to it and nor do I want to be hahahahah one more day of this cold and then back to just below seasonal
I ordered a treadmill last month it came today so I would have to go out and freeze again hahah oh well maybe now my butt will get smaller

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

nice momma Victor

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Checked the tap water: 35.4 F.

City water too with the line coming in the basement 5 feet below grade. No drafts down there to make the water colder once it gets in the house.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Good Morning everyone
Its minus2* This bitter weather is due to take a break next week, doubt the weatherman meant we would get a thaw but at least days will be in the mid 20's and nights in the teens.
Then back to bitter cold.
I keep going back to the long range forcast someone posted in late fall. It is right on the mark.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

oh no... let the hot water drip DP

Well looks like a sunny day today with a high around 20 degrees forecast. Snow tomorrow, hopefully only a couple inches. Weather bug on computer ( one town away) says 1 degree for present temp. My thermometer says minus 8, which matches the tv data. Maybe their gauge is frozen at 1 or in the sun. LOL. Does it really matter when it is this cold?

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Brrrrrr .... Hope everyone is safe and warm!

Tomorrow's heat wave will bring temps in the 20s.

We did get some sun yesterday to warm the house, hopefully more today.

It was zero at 8 this am--warming up to 15, I hope. My neighbors must of laughed there last few days as I ran for the papers in my DH's Mad Bomber hat---I was warm, though! Love the name of your dale, David---they never "Come" anywhere! This guy is my third, my DH's 6th & definitly our last! My pointer is so obedient compared to him!
