In soup I use what is available fresh first always but in a pinch what I can find lol
what I hate more is waisting food

South Hamilton, MA

Sunny & temp in the 20s. DH is chipping ice off the front step at my request. It is sanded but I don't like the ice there. Could always melt it with chicken soup if it is still too hard.

Celeste do they sell the steamer bags(that you microwave) of veggies in the stores up there? They are really good, don't taste frozen.
Hope everyone feels better....my 2 year old woke up at 4am throwing up so I spent the rest of the night laying on the floor in front of the bathroom with her. fun fun fun...

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thank you Pixie... it's bad when I am sick... can cause so much damage (plant online purchases) staying home

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Ha ha ha! I know what you mean...I had a bunch in 'my basket' at one place and realized I really didn't need it. Or the thought of digging made me weaker but anyways I quickly closed out.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

hahahha I just go to the web for things I cant find anywhere else I love to go to the garden centers last year spent to much and had nothing left for actual shopping in the real world lol

I believe it was the flu last year that Pixie "introduced" me to the Jap. Iris... and got me yelled it

LOL

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Nice sunny day with the temp almost at freezing, 30º. Should get above the freeze mark so some melting is expected today and tomorrow. Very little wind. Back to the deep freeze early next week.

South Hamilton, MA

Hope everyone recovers, don't let sick friends in the house. Warmer (30s) & sunny. DH is widening the driveway so we don't have to step in the snowbanks.

Cloudy
Above freezing 34*

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

well we were able to get 1/2 of the decorations in from outside.... some are still so frozen down.. might have to stay till spring... LOL... we have a street sign looking post with christmas run, rudolph way, etc that is stuck in about 12 inches of snow & ice... didn't budge with the warmer day today... oh well at least we made progress

Thomaston, CT

Hope you gals are soon better----this has been a bad winter for all! It was 44 here today---I walked, & had the window in my car open! One little lick of spring.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

well I wish it would lick my way snow again today

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

Warmed up with full sun providing a modest melt down. Going back to below freezing tomorrow for the week in general.

My hold over winter plantings enjoyed the great day. They are holding up nicely in the short gray days.

The temperature in the kitchen was fine...........Monkey Bread and two loaves from a sourdough or pre-ferment base. I don't even think snow and cold when baking.

Yum, that bread looks good...LOVE your cabinets.

It was so warm today I actually walked outside without a jacket, drove past a bank and it said 58....first warm day there was a line out one of the car washes that extended onto the highway.(thought the economy was bad, that would be the 1st thing to cross of my list)

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I just made some monkey bread last week..... that's what Randy and I pigged out on for breakfast during the snow fall

:)

I tried a garlic parm version that was really good... but I have to try and spray the pan next time.. it stuck in there big time

here is the regular one

and the garlic parm

More cold is coming for Sunday--but it's dry, no moisture to fall. Our poor sweet fern is bent over with icy snow on top of it.
