Hi Jaye and all the Sistahs!!
Happy New Year to each and everyone.
Big happy smiles and hearty hugs...The best part of my Vacation is Meeting Deborah!!
She is just the sweetest lady i have had the pleasure to meet. As Deborah told you we have been chatting on the phone for a while.
I loved meeting her and giving her a Giant armwrap in real life...Marion thank you for sending the hug. I am so sorry your knee was in a bad way. Deborah, extended your hug to me. You were there with us in spirit. As were all of you.
OH my Gosh, A wonderful cook...One would have thought An ary was attending dinner, What a spread! Oh my goodness, one of the desserts was Audrey's cheese cake...oh my gosh, it spectacular. And Deborah gave us the recipe too.
Well, I got to go but will be back in a little bit. Just wanted to come and say Hello, Missed you all, and Wish you a Happy New Year.
LOL, I am so glad to be home, missed my girl.
OH, here is a news flash...Tadah, I quit smoking...doing ok so far.
Yaaaay.. for quitting smoke!!! Welcome back Judy. Glad you and your family didn't encounter any problems on the road.
I bet you put on a few pounds even though it's only a day of savoring Sis Deborah's fantastic cooking!
Welcome back Sistah!
Hoooray for you, Judy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tina, how exciting about a grandbaby. 2009 will be a good year!
Hi Cat, good to see you. Your photo was a hoot. Hope you get to feeling better soon.
BJ, your exchange student will enjoy being on the lake. Bet he will even enjoy some crafts, too. Maybe he can help you reupholster the boat seats?
Kathy, anxious to hear you are back and your daughter is in good care in AL. She needs her mamma.
Freezing rain here today. No reason to get out so won't. Today will be devoted to house cleaning and some of that 2009 'getting organized' activity. Already several hours into it.
Who posted the Bailey's Irish Cream recipe? I try to save them with the DG name but didn't get that one. We made it Saturday for the pj party and it was a huge hit!
Morning/afternoon everyone--------
Kim, it is a pedal bike and yes he Rode Home, says it wasn’t a problem……but he was wet and cold…serves him right.
Tia great news on a new Baby!!!!
Beautiful Picture Cat……
Lisa glad to hear things are looking up!
A big Hug to all the rest of you that I have missed…..I have to take Sean to work in a few, their car is still out of commission and will probably be so until payday……on top of that the people who own their house (Laura and Sean are renting) are finally being foreclosed on and they got a notice that they have to move by March. The Real Estate Agency that convinced them to resign a lease the last time, saying they were getting things worked out, had better either work out a deal for them to buy the house CHEAP, or find them a new place and no deposit. Otherwise I am going to have ReMax on every News Channel in the area. Please keep them in your prayers.
Also, don’t forget to send your letters and pictures etc. to Jim’s e-mail address for the DVD for Audrey’s Lisa before Wednesday.
Have to run for now and get Sean to work….talk to you later.
Hi Jaye i understand got to have sleep.
LK, I'm surprised you don't know what redeye gravy is! When you cook pork, while the skillet is still hot, pour out the grease, add water, just a little, and let it deglaze the skillet just a few seconds. Add to the grease. DON'T ADD COFFEE!! This is redeye gravy! I love it with eggs, it's great mixed with the yolk of the egg, and sop with your biscuit! 'Course you can flavor anything with it!
Certainly Trisha. Praying the best housing for Laura and Lisa. I do hope they'd offer Laura to buy the house. At this time, they should welcome buyers.
If I had the millions.. I'd gladly get Sean a car...
Debra, if it's the BAILEY'S MARBLED CHEESECAKE.. BJ and I posted it at different times. It's just too good.. :D
That's what the recipe is for, to be shared.
Back to being busy... :(
I've been trying to straighten up from Christmas, first time I've felt like it. The bulb in my tree burned out and I'b replacing it before I put it away.
Well, guess what!! I dropped a tiny wingnut, and I can't find it! Can't put it up till I do, or find a replacement, but it's soooo tiny! I'll never be able to replace it. Sure discouraged me!
Ahh.. you did it right, Audrey. Some folks here add coffee.. it's yuck!!!
So you pour the grease back in after you deglaze the pan? Is there any flour or cornstarch for making it thick?
Never made anything like that. The only gravy I can make is when I fry up some steak fingers rolled in egg then flour, then I place them in a baking dish with some sliced onions, and mushrooms. Then I take the skillet from the steak fingers, and add flour to brown, then add water to make gravy. That is all I know about gravy! I call this Swiss steak. That is what my Mom taught us years ago.
LK
Nothing but water, and not a lot of that. Just add the glazings back to the bowl of grease! I usually pour off some of the grease if there's a lot more than I want. I don't like to much greasy!
Wow, that sounds like it good. I will have to try it sometime.
Thanks for the info
LK
Even juices from a fried ham steak is good too LK.
I have actually been being productive this morning!! Slow but getting things done--on computer that is. Have been working on the database for the festival so I can send to the website director. Hopefully it will be up and working in the very near future.
Did talk with Kathy a couple of times today. She at last chat was still in Alabama--long story which I had rather she tells everyone. Just keep the prayers coming as she is really stressed. I just wish I could do more to help her and maybe I was able to in some small way. She didn't tell me about the daughter's request so that may have happened since I chatted with her--if so that is wonderful news for all concerned.
Jaye, you would be so proud--I turned down the ice cream last night. Started the day of right with a sensible breakfast--no biscotti! That hurt but it will be well worth it. Giving my self a goal before I allow myself one with my coffee now. We are going to be so "knock down gorgeous thin" in May. Well......I can dream can't I? LOL
Debra, Debra, now just who is the newest enabler here? Saw the post on the quilting thread. Bad girl!! But loved it anyway.
Donna from Ga so very happy to see you posting again I was wondering the other day if something had happened. Don't leave us like that sistah--we missed you.
Okay ladies 2009 seems to be starting out as our year of drum roll please......."Babies" Joyce is awaiting a grandchild in January, Deborah in April and now Tia, Tina Whatever. Oh my at all the new ones joining our fold. The pictures, the smiles, the tears, the joys and...the dirty diapers!!!
Audrey the red eye gravy sound really good. My mom usually prepared it when we had ham slices--good with anything. Pork chops for breakfast --now that is hard to beat!
Heather, glad you found us. It is easy to get lost sometimes as this thread can move very fast. Okay so what are you working on now with the yard? Have you designs finished and on paper? Please share if you do.
BJ, relax I am sure Michael will have a blast in Texas. I think it will be kewl to have Michael at the bar b que. A real eye opener for the young man. Where in Austria is her from?
Sorry if I missed anyone--waving to all. Trisha how your cold is better and keep us posted about Laura's situation. I am with you on that issue.
Good for you Maid M. I ate some salad from Arby's for you at lunch. Kel brought back a nicely made chicken salad with dried cranberries. You and I will be the Belle of BJ's May Rendezvous :D Remember now.. no snacks after 9, we can do it!
Have you chosen a pattern yet for the b&w swap block?
Gonna pick up a treadmill tonight, so you can walk too Maid M. in the comfort of your home.
Debra, I saw that video too!! That Swedish made Husqvarna was exactly the one my late mum had..
Yah... looking forward to baby picture and bragging posts!!!

On track I promise. Oh I do love the dried cranberries (craisins) and Kim and I use them in a lot of our salads. Healthy too I am told--sure hope that is right as we do enjoy them. Try them in brownies or cookies!! No not eating any--just in salads.
LOL oh Jaye, I have picked out my block a tleast 10 times so far. Kim is really getting into this block coloring--hope she will get the quilt and mostly likely will in the long run. My mind is already whirling about other themed quilts I would like to do. Where oh where is the off button as I really need it now. Thinking a food theme quilt (lap) would be fun with all the neat fabrics out there now--or coffee themed. Quick! someone push the off button.
Well back to the database and about 6 emails waiting to be answered. Funny how some of the new vendors always send a note asking if they can be put in a prime location. We are talking 62 acres and finding a prime location? Nope! Need them to think "product to sell" not location as that is what draws people. One person will buy, some one else see and then starts asking which vendor. So all in all none of the 205 spots are bad. Enough shop talk back to work for me.
Whew Okay the final coat of rimer is up in Tonys Room.. Now the oor wont shut...LOL I cleaned the brackets and its still acting goofy so I told Max when he was done working on the truck I have a small project for him.. All in all it took 3 coats of primer to cover the yellow. then tan that turned mauve, then the glaze... LOL I learned my lesson and will primer before hand now for everything.. except my favorite wallpaper of course..
Judy Congrats on quitting smoking.. Keep up the greta work..
Prayers to Kathy for continued safety on her trip..
Congats on all the babies..
Huggs to those I missed I have to run again and get dinner going .. Tony will be home soon and his bed is still in the middle of the room.. Max leaves for work at 7 too.. Back to our crazy schedule..

Oh, LadyDragon5, That was just the most perfect gift. I have it hanging in my dining room so everyone can see it. Like I said, I was in tears when I finally realized it was from one of my Sistah Buddies. You done good!!!
Cathy
I got a card in the mail today, that said it was from Cathy. She sent me a subscription to Birds and Blooms magazine for a year. I love that magazine, and will enjoy every issue.
Thank you so much!
Linda Kay
evenin ladies..someone send a boat so I can get around ...LOL..has been raining all day ..yuck no freezin though thanks goodness.
as soon as we get the pizza picked up I ma hitting the shower ...feel so grimy after today ..didn't drive this morning so I went up to the back storage area and started moving the boxes wtih papers from back in the 90's to 04 to a spot so the shelves would be cleaned off and I put the 04 to present boxes on them and everything else is gonna ago bye bye as we don't need to keep any of the papers past 4 years.. talk about dusty stuff..oh my gosh plus there was a bunch of junk that the head boss man said toss it so before anyone else could check it out the shop super got the fork lift and got the pallet down and to the dumper ...whoohooo made a bit dent in things and have the pallet loaded again to go out tomorrow .
But I also found out that we have to file an approval letter in order to dispose of all the boxes of papers...called the records gal she emailed me the info I needed to have filled out the papers faxed them and am now waiting to hear back on approval to trash them all...but the student cards with personal info will have to be shredded..ugh....regardless to will clean up a huge mess up stairs.
oh and I forgot to mention we wat5ched mamma mia over the holiday break and it is a funny movie
never knew Peirce Bronson could sing LOL
Cathy.. you got the idea!!
Sistahs, when Cathy got the Santa hat, she dmailed me wanting to know whether it's her 2009 swap gift! That's how far out of the loop our poor sistah was!! Oh Janice, you had certainly made her happy.. believe me!!
Woohooo LK! Birds & Blooms is THE magazine of backyard gardeners like us. I had let my subscription expired, time I renew it. The other magazine I like is Garden Gate. So, LK, knowing you, that is one perfect year round gift for you. Lucky Sistah!!
Phyllis, seems like an annual inventory clean up for you, except that it's overdue for over 10 years!! Oooh the dust and grime.. I'm itching already reading your post!! Lol!!
Thanks for the tip on Mama Mia. Will add that to my que on Netflix.

Fiesta Bowl's on.. you all know what that means!!! Lol!!
Cya later sistah-------------sss
Pierce Bronson sing? Well we watched Mama Mia and I did love it--could watch again but I'm afraid he won't have a future making records! LOL Of course that is my personal opinion but what the heck, great eye candy!!! We have the second season of the Tutors due tomorrow. Can't wait for that one.
Catspower your picture is wonderful. My hubby surprised me one year with a Kincade for our anniversary--complete with artist sketch. His words are so soothing to me. Have wanted to do some of his works in cross stitch but that just doesn't "ignite" me like quilting does. BJ didn't you get a nightlight?
Linda Kay what a neat gift. I love that magazine but like Jaye, Garden Gate, is one to really beat. Kim says I read mine like they were novels--well there are to a certain degree. Do you get Backyard Living? It is really good also. There is one called Florida Gardening but it truly is localized to Florida.
Sending hip waders Phyllis. Hope that rain isn't moving this way but with our luck it probably will. Grab that shredded paper if you can--makes the best mulch!! Yeap all my documents are feeding the little worms in my yard. I just shred it and put in large contractor plastic bags for when I need it. Makes great kitty beds too if you add some catnip and put into a pillowcase covering with zippers. My cats love them. Sometimes I mix in cedar to help with the fleas. Yeap just call me the trash lady!!!
Well I need to make some labels for a huge mailing that has to go out tomorrow. Waving to those I have missed, chat with everyone later.
Lolol.. Maid M!! But he's a painter of lights.. supposed to de"light" you!!
I've not owned anything by TK. My favorite artists are actually Franz Kline, David Smith and Louis Nevelson ... go figure. I agree though, Kel can give me anything fabric and I'll be swooning!
Now back to Pierce. Can't understand why that boy refused more James Bond role. He's easier on the eyes, than the current one.
Oh.. commercial's over..
Lets go BUCKEYES! May prayers be with our player who is injured...
Sorry joining you for a half time break..
I think I agree I really loed Pierce as bnd. This new guy not so much.. Max loves the bond movies we watch them often...
LK What a wonderful hift to get.. Florida gardening is great but very true to teh area for sure..
Jaye!!! Someone else who likes Louise Nevelson?!?! My chosen artist for a paper I had to do in sculpture class..... As for the art I have on my walls now....Byron Byrdsall are my main ones, I have Mt Magesty, Tall Trees and one of th glacier prints.....one of my favorite artists is BigBow.....I can't remember exactly but I think dad said he was Kiowa....I have a print of his called Lone Buffalo that dad bought from him back in the early to mid fifties. The picture below shows it pretty well if you ignore the reflection of the camera and my hands in the glass. I wish I could find someone who knows something about the artist and could tell me something about this piece.
I am in my Pj's and headed to bed. You all have a wonderful nights sleep, and hope you all wake up nice and refreshed.
Stacey, do you have a new job yet?
LK
I like Birds and Bloom, too, but never heard of the others. I've never had a subscription, just read them second hand!
Vey pretty Trisha.. Never heard of the artist myself..
Have a great night LK
Trisha read this article. It may be who you are looking for.

LK
Well back to the game then to bed after.. See you all in the am...
Huggs
Donna
Linda Kay thank you! My dad managed the Student Union at South Eastern State College in Durant, Oklahoma and Big Bow was exhibiting prints at the college....dad bought 4 of his pieces. This will give me some place to find out more about this piece. I have this, 3 Byrdsall's and 2 Reye Munos (sp) prints that I really should get insured. Probably the only things I own that have any real value.
Wow! You are so lucky Trisha, to own REAL art. And yes, insure those prints too. Will have to read more on Big Bow.
I don't consider myself an art afficianado, but fell in love with Nevelson when I saw her works for the first time in an Art museum. Since then, I've scoured her books on eBay, my favorite of hers is her wooden sculpture "Dawn's Wedding Feast". She's brilliant!!!
Not too keen on the likes of Monet, nor any Renaissance period artists.. too sugary sweet for me.
Fortunately, Kel is an art lover. He loves Picasso, Noguchi.. to name a couple.
hope everyone had a good day....
It had been a busy day for me Cody, but happy busy. How about you?
Didn't go to the post office today, but first thing tomorrow your box will be on it's way. :D
Trisha, on Direct TV, there's channel 274, "Ovation TV" where you can get continous art and music shows. Art is totally subjective.. I'm just glad that my life's partner is in total agreement with me when it comes to the kind of art I like.
Hmm.. Texas is showing some pluck.. Donna PRAY hard!!
LK you aren't done yet. Oh, no, not by a long shot. I have a few more suprises headed your way. Just you wait. You won't know what, and you won't know when another little something will be heading your way. hehehehehe
I am going to spread it all out. I have till the 16th now. LOL
Cathy >^.,.^<
