78 days until Spring! yay!!!!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

LOL... you see I had the same idea last summer... the area behind my posts are covered up with newspaper and put some fabric down... we covered the gravel and about a foot past the posts.. cutting the lawn was a pain between them... I just kind of figured it was a good spot to sneak in more plants.. and justified it as making life easier... some pots or raised beds over the gravel... so many possibilities

my DH buit a three foot high two to three feet wide and about 80 feet long stone wall last year it almost killed him but he is so proud of this wall its amazing

we needed it as a retaining wall for the pool
now this year we have to finish it we are still missing about 20 feet cant wait till its all over and I can finish with the lanscaping

We got to put a line on the map some where. Us people UP here have a good 2-3 months to go. April rolls around and some of us are still Stuck. I know what I was doing 2 years ago as of next month. Well I really didnt know what I was doing.

nice green house man I want one so bad I can taste it

GH - a lot of work. Its not something you can stand back and watch. Its not something you can leave unattended for too long. Its another thing you have to shovel around in the winter ( or at least we do so it wont kill the plastic on the sides).

Without a big heating bill I have to wait about 2 months to break into it. Oh - yeah they are not free! If I can remember I think I have around 3,000 US dollars in that one and we did all the work. I think it is 14' x 24'. Good grief dont even know the measurements!

hubby says his uncle built his own for about 8 hundred he is going to talk to him today to see how he did it his is just wonderfull since it has double plastic I think the frames it put the plastic on and then addes 2 by 2 on top of all the supports and then more plastic since he grows fig trees in his and they are just huge by august my fig tree which I store in the cold storage has smaller ones and not ready till end of september and some years we loose them to frost lol I hate that after looking after it all summer

he starts perennial in september and leaves them in the greenhouse all winter and plants them the next spring with blooms that same summer that would be good but I think that the plants actually go dormant for three months but it is still worth it since they bloom the first summer

Double plastic saves on the heating bill. I have, I belive 6 mil single. Rule of thumb be prepared to replace plastic every 3 years. It might go longer but be prepared.

My water bill just for the house went up 40 bucks from last year! We get the bill every 6 months... GRRRRRRR Growling Loudly GRRRRRRRR

Rockport, ME(Zone 5b)

BEAUTIFUL greehouse. Of course, that assumes you have room to put something when the somethings come out of the greenhouse. When I buy my 100 acres in Vermont, I'll think about it.

No I dont, I harden them right off in the GH = turn the heat down little by little. 100 acres? Bah - you would want one bigger than this!

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

hardening of is always a lot of work if the temperature doesnt co operate

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

I saw grass today... yay!!!! I could actually sit outside with Lilly for a few minutes and read a book... oh I am so ready for spring!

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

I can see parts of my deck and in one corner the snow melted to let me see the tip of one hyacinth cool

deck is on the south side so it almost toasty to sit out did that yesterday, today had to take the girls to the winter carnival lol

and now I have to make early diner, gardeners meeting tonight

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

My dh though I would be happy to see the ground, but I said no - not for a few more weeks. I want to keep the snow blanket over the plants a little while longer - I hate frost heaves!

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

my DH is hoping that the stone wall he worked so hard to build last summer will not be a mess from all the extreme cold we had this winter

I told him that if it stayed this winter it will not move for a thousand year lol

Mona, if he built it right you should have no problems. My dh has done stone walls around our yard and they've held up nicely.

KASSIA - If it's at all possible, could you change the number of days in this thread title? There are only 30 DAYS LEFT!!!!!!!!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Thirty days, that's wonderful isn't it. Only about two and a half weeks to changing the clocks to Daylight Savings Time! That should make it seem more like spring too. I think we are all really really ready. :)

Huh???? I thought changing the clocks were in April......

OK - I must of missed year 2007 & 2008, I would of put money it was April.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

March 8th. Remember they have lengthened it to save energy. Starts earlier and ends later. Works for me.

Anything is better than what it is! eckkk

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I love the extended daylight savings.
