78 days until Spring! yay!!!!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

70 days!!!!!! yay!!!!!!

New Boston, NH

Perhaps my imagination plays games on me but a week back I could feel the days getting longer which to me is soothing happening. In the summer as the days get shorter I always get a sense of uneasy progressing as they shorten.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I feel the same way gamekeeper.
Just remarked to a DG'r that about October my brain goes into hybernation mode.
Havnt felt the longer days yet.
Still very cold and snowy and slippery.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I mentioned that I felt that last week too, Peter.

4 months till it shapes up here. March there is hope.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

I think Feb. is the worst month. January usually has a thaw of at least a few days that helps with the winter blahs. Then if only you can get through those four weeks of Feb. that seem to last forever, even though it is the shortest month, March is easy. Any snow or ice seems to come and go quickly and a day here or there is more like spring than winter. The days are getting longer and spring is in sight with crocus and forsythia and little bits of green starting to sprout all over. If we could just get rid of Feb.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Its a short month so it shouldnt count anyway.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Thanks for the countdown...I would like to see some snow here first, though.

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

I've been very busy this past fall and winter so far. That's a good thing, because I don't have time to get too antsy!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

But schickenlady - you get to play in a green house!

You don't have any snow flowerjen? Would you like some - I don't mind sharing ^_^

Last week I started Astillbe seeds - according to my Ken Druse book I was supposed to keep the seeds 2 weeks warm, then 4 weeks cold, then bring them back into warm. Well, the little rascals were so eager to germinate, they didn't wait for the cold cycle.

Honestly - what am I going to do with these for four months? (Now I really wish I had a green house.

Atkinson, NH(Zone 5a)

Kassia
It will be spring before you know..That's one thing about New England area...when you go through winter you appreciate spring so much. I can't wait to smell the roses.

We'll see ya soon

Well I'm going where it is warmer for a couple of days! (A little warmer anyway.) Tomorrow I fly to Phoenix and my sister will pick me up and take me to her "new" house in Chino Valley outside of Prescott. She lured me there with promises of a chainsaw to use to help clear her yard. Won't that be fun? See you all next weekend.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Have a great trip and have fun using the chainsaw. Please be careful!!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Make sure you wear all the safety equipment! DH had to sent for a rescue helicopter when a co-worker managed to almost severed his leg. Thank goodness DH had taken industrial first aid.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

68 days.... yay!!!! such a beautiful full moon tonight... it made the drive back home really nice...

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

We had clear skys here too.
Moon and stars for the first ti,e in weeks, clouds come back today and bitter cold, its 7* now.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Chainsaws make me very nervous, too. DH & our nextdoor neighbor at our old house tried to trim a 30+ year old maple on our other neighbor's property because the limbs extended almost to both of our houses. Nextdoor was younger, so he climbed the tree with the chainsaw, it slipped, and he got a bad cut on this thigh. Could have been much worse. I wasn't home or I wouldn't have let them do it (which is exactly why they waited until I wasn't home).

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

Memory (YankeeCat) left just in time to avoid the storm!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Have a great time Yank and enjoy the warmth!!!!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Seandor- everytime they call for snow we get diddley. We got about 1/2" yesterday when they were calling for 3-6" didn't even cover the grass. I really want some.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

We haven't had any, Jen, except a few flakes. I do like a bit of it.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

I am very happy we got less than predicted. LOL You can have my share of any remaining snow storms. I do know what you mean though, it seems that you either get dumped on or none at all. With the cold temps coming later this week, a little snow cover is probably a good thing. Hoping for the Jan. thaw after the frigid temps depart. Feb. usually brings the most snow so maybe you will get a biggie down your way and then you will be as sick of it as the rest of us. You know what they say...Be careful what you wish for....☃

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

I hear ya. I debated whether or not I wanted to type out my desire, cuz it might happen. LOL
I have been living my snow desires through everyones' pics. though.
People down here ahve no idea how to drive in it.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

We had a neighbor that moved down to southern NJ. They lived on a corner lot down there. She would write and say how much fun she had watching people try t go around the corner even when there was a tiny bit of snow. She really didn't miss the bother of shoveling though. Like everything else in life moderation seems to be the key. Now if we could just get mother nature to get that concept, gardening and life would be a lot easier for a lot of the planet. ✿

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Gee - I hear you, Flowerjen. I want the snow to insulate my plants - but I want the roads and sidewalks bare.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

We will need the snow this week - apparently we have an arctic blast heading our way! Time to find those long-johns for the next few days....

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - brutal weather on the way. One place in Alaska had a temp (without wind chill) of -78 yesterday!

66 days, 10 hours, 21 minutes!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

getting closer and closer... I did some gardening today... some pots... and my favorite mini rose had a resident spider... oh I was so mad... I had to take out every leaf... now the poor thing is naked... and I watered the roses inside the garage... oh they look sad and sleepy!!!

come spring come!!!! I have plans!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Halfway through January!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Only about six weeks or so before we get a springy type day here or there. Of course if you had to stick your nose out the door today it was very hard to believe. Brrr.

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

Before you know it, we'll all be complaining about how hot it is out!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Never! I refuse....I may says it's hot but never that it's too hot!! lol

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - though I don't like extremes (would love 50-78 all the time!), I rarely complain about the heat nearly is much as the cold! I think I'm getting old...

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

And it's weird I'm just the opposite, I HATE the heat. Maybe because I haven't lost all the "baby weight" yet..lol
just 15 more lbs.....I can do it!!!!

I always say there is only so much you can take off you can always put on an extra layer of clothing if you're cold...of course I don't have to be out in this cold.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I used to say that too, Jen!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

what you still have to lose your "baby weight"???

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hee hee.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

I like the cold... but I want to see roses... and all the irises and daylilies I planted...and all the hostas and heucheras... oh so many new plants... I miss plants...so I got some new gorgeous and big succulents ... really pretty... and I got so many types of sunflowers seeds...

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

the critters ate all my sunflowers.... going to have to spray them this year

Commercial green houses must be going broke in this cold weather!
