78 days until Spring! yay!!!!

South Hamilton, MA

When the snow leaves you can check how much space is available & calm down--that goes for all of us.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

I'm starting to get duplicates of catalogs now - anybody need firestarter paper to keep warm?

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

My daughter is planning on having a Spring Plant Sale to help subsidize her (hopeful) trip to Australia (People to People student ambassador!) - so I'm doing a lot of extra sowing and seed buying this year.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

LOL Deb. That could forestall any further purchases. Could be the answer. Good luck to your DD and her plant sale. Hope she rakes in the doe.
I have often wondered why there is so much more space in my garden beds in winter than in April or May. I think they shrink when it gets warmer, don't you?

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

42 days till spring now!

hope the sale makes a small fortune

may have to do a plant sale with all the extra babies since I usually grow more than I can plant

lol.... my garden is so covered in snow that it looks small to me... boring white... ah, can't make up my mind what to get... but I can always kill some more grass... no question about that!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

I looked at the sky on Wed and it was soo gorgeous... and commented with one of my co-workers that pretty soon we will be spring with long days and great weather... her answer almost made me cry... she told me, hold on we need some more winter - a couple more snow storms and we would be ok... I looked at her and questioned her sanity... and I was speachless for a second...(that is a miracle!) but she told me that the plants need some more time to rest... I told her that my plants are ready to show off and make me happy... and they are not lazy plants... specially the roses... and the irises!

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

up my way nothing happens on march 21 it is still winter for another 6 to 8 weeks for me
we rarely are abel to even start to clean up till the end of april beginning of may

so I will have to content myself with my flats of plants till then

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

well, I am being totally an optmist... can't really plant in March but at leas will be able to be outside longer and maybe clean up... I would totally welcome even the cleaning part...

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

seeing dirt and not snow would be a step in the right direction

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

South Hamilton, MA

Red sox nation should be available in a few days--some of the players went down early.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Four weeks to daylight savings!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I will miss my sleep!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

It's worth the sacrifice. I had a kid in HS say that it was the reason for missed HW!

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

I like daylight in the morning but my bedroom is on the north side so it doesnt wake me

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Kids do come up with some good excuses, don't they?
When my DH started teaching at the school he is at now, one of his students could hardly believe that he expected them to do their homework and turn it in. He goes through every paper, cuz he gives them a second chance to do better. His goal is to get them to understand what they are doing. WEll, this one kid, told him that the previous year, he did the first assignment, then held up the same paper for the rest of the year. No wonder he was put out to have to be accountable. LOL

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

39 days and counting lol its about time temps are heading above freezing and rain starting this afternoon and rain for most of week yes I may find my bbq cant wait I have the rib steaks waiting in the freezer mmmmmmmm

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

its a spring congo line straight to the garden

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

oh I am sooooo happy..... today I could see a little bit of grass... and some dirt... oh just a few more tons of snow to melt... and my indoor plants really need spring... they need to go outside and be free!!!!
some of my succulents are suffering... I am not very good with plants inside...

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

a regular watering with some plant food is good
I keep forgeting extra water for plants when we use the
fire place it seems to dry them right out

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

I'm guilty of overwatering....

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

I use to kill my plants with love and water now I have sorted by plants by water requirements because some its every two days well have all of those in the family room spend more time there so I wont forget then in the dining room is twice per week and then the formal living room and dining room is the one time per week always on the same days so I dont get mixed up and to it more swim baby swim

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

oh a few more days....

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

The willows are turning gold.
I really believe we are on the other side of winter.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

woo hoo... I saw some of my pussy willows looking like they might pop.. I think you are right

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Feels so good.

Rockport, ME(Zone 5b)

I always start driving my co-workers crazy around this time of year, putting countdowns until Spring at the bottom of all my emails. I went out yesterday and said "Hi!" to all my buddies that I haven't seen in months. I hope with no snow that they can take the cold, that's all! I have SOOOOO many plans this year!

Rockport, ME(Zone 5b)

It was kind of warm yesterday, so I finally put cardboard over the grass where I plan on putting all those plants that I bought over the last couple of years that have made everything look overgrown. I hope the next buyers of this place like gardening, because if not they'll sure have a lot of grass to put back. Don't need no stinkin' grass.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

LOL... I am so with you.. Randy disagrees .. news paper is good to put down as well

Rockport, ME(Zone 5b)

HA, funny you should say that, I was just realizing that I have two bags full of newspapers that I was saving for when I ran out of cardboard! Mwaaa haaa haaaa....more garden me thinks!
