Very pretty sunrise pics. We are seeing the sun finally today but not as warm as yesterday. Temp is 36° with a light breeze. High should be in the mid 40s. Very pleasant for the end of Dec. and the last of the snow has gone away.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Beautiful sunrise, Celeste! Currently 36 and sunny. SH washed windows yesterday in the warm weather. He took screens off too. It is sooo bright now, I am blinded!! LOL Amazing how much screens affect the view.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Sunny and warm, today. High around 38ºF, or so.

Haven't had a chance yet to survey the wind damage, but looks insignificant. Some are still without power in the area, but nothing really to speak of.

We saw Buffalo on the news last night, Willie, & it looked flooded with trees down. The weather is scary, but nice to walk this time of year with only a sweatshirt on--we got up to 58---heaven--today 45---will walk again, with the pointer, who is chubby. And not from the cookies! Beautiful sunrise, Pixie--which I didn't see this morn, but here is last night's sunset--nice, but I couldn't get that intense orange which literally flood3ed the sky!

Looks like the sky was on fire.... Awesome!!!!!!!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

It's 40 out there now and sunny. Will remain sunny throughout the day with a high of 45 and winds 10-20 mph. Not too bad, considering the time of year. Didn't get to 63 yesterday as predicted, but was still quite warm, in the upper 50's. It was very nice.

Celeste and Robin, great sunrise and sunset shots!

It stopped snowing at 180 degrees. Now just the winds are blowing at 180 degrees.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's pretty warm for snow.

Degrees in angle. If it was that warm we would not be here on earth!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

It's so windy here makes it feel so much colder. It's nice in the sun.

Very windy today---sand blowing on the sidewalks in town, branches down, gusts to 60 MPH in eastern CT, about 40 here. Babysat for HayHay from 10 to 4--just about ready for bed--that's me, probably not HayHay!

More snowflakes to end out the year 2008. I think we are supposed to get about 5 inches or so today. The wind isn't blowing as hard as it was yesterday. I feel that we are very lucky to not have the winds, as there are several broken branches still precariously dangling over some power lines.

We are under a Winter Storm Warning until 7 PM this evening ... *sigh*

Currently:

18°
Wind: N at 6 MPH
Humidity: 48%
Dewpoint: 5°
Pressure: 29.86 in. and falling
Windchill: 14° (brrrr)

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Our roads are a mess like your roads, Allison, though they are plowed, the snow is still whipping about, creating some very slick conditions. Not to mention, the white-outs on the North / South street. Travel is slow, but not extremely treacherous.

Hope you don't see us on the news again, Robin .... Since that Blizzard of '77, the media seems to "embellish" things. In actuality, the Rochester area and ESP. the Syracuse area get hit harder than we do when those Lake Effect snows hit them off Lake Ontario. Esp. up near Watertown, NY.

We got about 7-ish inches of snowfall which started coming down around midnight. Right now is a very pretty, slow snowfall, between wind gusts that is.

Update: from that windstorm, the only damage here was one of the windows on the back of the garage was blown out and destroyed. It was one of those louvered sets about three foot by 6 foot, and were originally in the neighbor's house when it was built, until he replaced them in the early 80's and became a part of my original cold frame before I replaced it with the GH. The window frame itself shattered into more pieces than the panes of glass, so it is irreparable. I collect windows, so I have plenty of options to replace it. NOT a big deal at all.

In memory of the louvered window. :-( I should have attached this to the above post.

Lovely window. I miss those. We used to have them all over when I lived down south.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks! They are nice windows, but drafty, my neighbor lamented. A sad loss, but I have fun barn-jobbing with construction, so, now I have a fun spring project ahead of me.

Only bad thing is, the few panes of glass that did shatter are frozen into the ground and I can't get it cleaned up, like I would like to. Soooo, I cannot let the dogs outback to run until I do.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Light snow falling. Temp is 24 degrees and not much wind. We just got rid of the last foot of snow and now they are predicting 6-9+ of the stuff. At least it is not piling up on top of storm after storm. Nice we had melting in between but I would be happier with a little less accumulation. Anything over 6" gets to be a pain in the butt to deal with I think. Should be done around 7pm or so.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh yeah. I remember well how drafty those windows can be! Too bad they are frozen to the ground. Looks like they will be snow-covered soon, as well.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

ngam, are you under a Winter Storm Warning, too?

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

It is snowing in Bridgeport right now!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Back from my warm Christmas in New Orleans to a gray and cool day. Wind picking up and snow expected. Blowing 6 to 16 and it is 34 degrees. Whoops, just started. More like sleet. Glad we got home yesterday. Patti

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Welcome home Patti. Stay snug and warm out there.
Candyce, yes we are under storm warnings here too and the snow has picked up in intensity now. Supposed to get windier and blow around a lot of drifts so we may be shoveling the same snow over and over again. Ay least it is supposed to be the lighter variety this time.
I have been sick the last couple of days, about 70% back to normal today but still having the spinners. Got a cold or something with nasty sore throat which always ends up with middle ear infection and the merry-go-round syndrome whenever I move too quickly. Kinda like partying too much without the party part. Can't complain though this is the first time I have been sick n long long time. Could mean I get out of the whole shoveling of snow bit. :)

I took the pic and there was 2 males and 2 female cards. The males took off.
