Geez Stacey, what time did you get up? On my screen it says you posted at 3:20.

Cindy don't forget the time difference between California, and Michigan.
Hope you all have a great day, I am cooking some bacon, and onion, and potatoes for breakfast!
LK
Glorious morning!
It's not as cold as I thought it would be. Hope your weather's beautiful today, if not, stay warm indoors.
Thanks for the coffee Stacey. And Cindy, do you always wake up early?
Onions and potatoes! Wow LK, what did we do to deserve that? I love browned onions added to potatoes cooked in the pan.
Lisa, I hope you get some answers today.
Have a fantastic day you all.
Morning All,
I'm usually up between 4:30 and 5:00. Didn't sleep very good at all last night. Working on my 2009 pressies. Want to get it done as I have other things I'm anxious to make hee hee ^_^
I like my taters w/ onions and peppers-YUMMY!!!!
I get up @ 4am my time which would be 1am your time Cindy...:)
Well I was awake then.:( then fell back to sleep was sleeping pretty good then Bear needed to go pottie.
Boy, am I jealous hearing you all talk about the various sewing machines. I was sewing all day yesterday and mine is still giving me fits. Keeps breaking the thread and when I get it to the service dept. it acts just like a kid and sews just beautifully so they think I am crazy!
I did a really stupid thing yesterday. Am making this T-shirt quilt and I remembered to make the horizontal bars around quilt block but forgot the vertical ones. Had to spend last night ripping the WHOLE quilt apart so I can fix it. That is today's project.
Wish I 1. Knew what kind of machine I wanted and 2. Could afford a new machine. the old Kenmore is fine but it doesn't have any bells and whistles so have to be content with just straight work.
ladydragon......the brother I got at walmart was a nice machine and would have worked fine for me but my mother was bent on me getting one that did embroidery too....mind you I have done it by machine after tracing a pattern on it and using the zigzag in the past but after she got her quilt and bag and they had stopped and visited wtih some friends on the way that have one she was just sure I had to have one ..I would have been happy with the one I picked up at walmart last week and it was only 152.00 including tax if that helps any as far as a new machine and not costing a ton of money
Morning all,
This is going to be fast as I have a ton of plants to repot today... I hate this part of loving plants...LOL What new swap is going on now??? I went to the birthday one that was posted up above and no one talked to me so I dropped out of that one....
Welll I am getting my head in gear to stop smoking on Thursday.... I was suppose to work today but called out as nothing really was going on....
Will talk to you all a little later... Love you all...
Susan
Susan-there is a thread called Welcome to the Swaps in that forum-it has a list and approximate time of all the upcoming swaps:)
Congrats on the new machine, Phyllis. Can't imagine all the fabulous projects you will be making. Looking forward to seeing them.
Janice, ripping isn't much fun. Too much experience at it myself - lol! What kind of tshirt quilt are you making?
LK, lucky you! It's hard to beat a good foot massage. Guess you would prefer to pass on the surgery, but at least you got a nice foot massage.
Joyce, what a deal! You will enjoy your tree. My DH used to freak at putting up a tree but that all changed when we got a pre-lit tree. They make it soooo much easier.
Hi Cody and Susan and Lisa and our other sistahs we don't see as often as we'd like.
Well, the last of DBIL and DSIL's kids and grandkids left this morning. It was nice having them but I'm ready for a little quiet time. Nephew-in-law cooked shrimp bisque from scratch last night. He's from a cajun family and loves to cook. It had fresh celery, red/green/yellow peppers, lots of cajun seasonings and heavy cream. It was incredible! DH grilled a ton of tuna and amber jack so we had a fantabulous seafood meal last night (sorry, Stacey, but you are missing out!) with fresh asparagus, califlower and broccoli in cheese, and potato bread with rosemary. I sat munching on tabuli and crackers and drinking wine while others cooked dinner. Ahhhh ..... the good life! LOL! That was such a treat.
Have a huge pot of beans and ham on the stove now. We will have beans and cornbread several times over the rest of the winter. Will be doing laundry all day and getting the house picked up. Probaby work in a nap, also. Need to get outside. The sky is clear blue, the sun is shining, the temps are probably in the 60's (haven't seen the weather report) and it's beautiful out. A little fresh air would be good. Hope everyone else is enjoying your day.
Thanks, sound yummy! I missed breakfast yesterday.
Sun was shining when I got up…..clouds are starting to come in now……the second of three rain storms is supposed to come in tonight….and it is cold. Froze some further out in the county….sounds like they spent most of the A.M. pulling cars out of the ditch……glad we are all warm at home.
We are spending the day getting things ready for the New Years Day Bicycle Ride and Potluck. Bill has to work tomorrow so today is going to be a long workday at home. Wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t still have this scratchy throat to contend with. Tonight will be grocery shopping (after spin class), then tomorrow is get as much cooking and prep as possible done in advance….
See Stacey, I always said you guys were getting up just about the time I am going to bed…….
Janice, I think I know what may be wrong with your machine. If you are sewing on the t shirt material, you need to make sure you use a smaller needle for the thinner material. That will make your thread get all bunched up and break.
Worth a try anyway?
LK
Good Morning ladies hope you all are staying warm. Here it is cold Brrrrrrr.
Ooh Janice, you might have to exorcise your machine!! Or try LK's advice.
If Phyllis is referring to the Brother's sewing model used on Project Runway, that would be a good machine for you Janice, till you're ready to upgrade to a Pfaff or Bernina or Viking. I'm using a Singer Quantum 9920 and my spare machine is a Pfaff Hobbymatic. Those Hobbymatics are inexpensive and quite a workhorse if all you need are straight stitches and zig-zags.
Give us some of that exuberance Debra!! I'd have it today if I had shrimp bisque and grilled amber jacks without going to a restaurant or having to cook them myself! Weather has warmed up some here, but my body went into lethargy.
Trisha, you're being wise, lesser time spent on the road means being safe. What's your menu for New Year?
I'll have to thaw out the duck. Will be cooking that for New Year. A couple of side items, haven't decided yet, and store bought pies.
Unless one of the restaurants is offering a more tempting New Year's fare.
Hey Cody! Teeth chattering yet?
Cya ladies later.
Hey Jaye,yes they are brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Blackeyed peas, cracklin cornbread, stewed down potatoes and bacon for New Years. It's hot here but s front is moving in. Just finished cleaning out one garden and planted some pansies and daffs. Still have a tray of pansies and about 200 daffs to go. hope I don't have to work in cold weather. Cold wind just rips right through me.
Linda K I hope your feet are healing fine. I know youre glad to get that surgery behind you.
Kathy, I'm praying for you sweetie.
off to take down my Christmas decorations. I think I'll leave up a few angels all year.
BBL
Hiya all, been lurking lately. DUCK???? Sounds yummy, looking for Duck recipes, as hubby and i will have some in the freezer soon. I am making the last of our home grown black eyed peas and maybe a brisket.
I have the brother embroidery machine, if I was not to lazy I would get up and go look in the next room to the model number. I love my machine, I push a button it threads it, i push another button it starts sewing i push that same button it stops sewing and then i push another button and it cuts the thread. I just wish it would cut the fabric for the patterns. I guess I cant have it all. I have finished 1 small quilt and a thin throw so far with this machine.
Punk boy says Hi to all aunties and grannies. He had a great Christmas, he can not remember a single thing he got. Go figure. I am SO ready for him to go back to school.
Cody, how cold is it? Your front may be moving my way.
Tina, sounds like you ready do have the cadilac of sewing machines. I love duck and goose!
I'm really BBL this time.
For this group we usually do a spiral cut ham for the carnivores, my Wheatberry Chili for the Vegetarians, have to have my blackeyed peas and cornbread, assorted veggies and chips with dips, several breads from the French Bakery down town, assorted cheeses, Hot Cider, Coffee, Teas, Cranberry Applesauce Cake and then whatever dishes the rest of the group bring, which is usually casseroles, desserts and drinks...... in the five years I have been doing this there has never been a shortage of food.....and there has never bee a great deal left afterwards either. We have a lot of fun but I am always so glad when it is over!
I never had any kind of tradition until I married DH and he insisted on BEP's. We are usually in bed before the new year comes in. Probably have Punk boy NYE and will probably do tacos or something like that for that night. Changed my mind just now, we will have rotisserie prime rib and the BEP's for New years day.
I haven't heard from my Lisa today. Her Daddy is going to help with gas for the friend who took her to the hospital. They hadn't heard anything, either.
Went to the orthopedic DR. this morning. He put 2 injections in my knee. The xray wasn't clear on what was wrong. If this doesn't help, he wants an mri done. I may have a stress fracture or torn cartilage. The shots had a numbing med. in them, so it's feeling better for now!
Cordeledawg,it's not as bad now. It's suppost to be in the 60's today, tonight it will get back in the 30's.
Well Afterlate noon to you all

Ok Will talk with you all later
Dimmer
Have a great time in Mexico!
I know exactly where the problem is with my machine but the guys in service wont beleive ma when it doesn't do it for them. There seems to be something out of place right under the dial for tension that the thread catches on. When I sew it pulls the thread (which can't move because it is caught) and it eventually frays and snaps the thread.Sometimes it happens after a short period of sewing and sometimes not for a long stretch. I have to keep stopping and rethreading the top thread when it snaps. It is a major pain.
Thought you might like to see the finished top of the T-shirt quilt I have been working on.
As you can see, it is quite large; 15 squares, each 15 x 15" square. the pic below is the bottom of the quilt. The black material has white musical notes in it to go with the music festival theme of the shirts. I have a queen size bed and it is longer than, but not as wide so I am taking it to my friend's house on New Year's Eve to try it on her bed. May have to add to side border depending on the size of her bed.
Then I can get started on the one for my DSIL.
Interesting idea! Did you already have the t-shirts or did you have to buy them to make the quilt? (probably a dumb question)
