Marion, you have a sweetheart there too! Love your hat and you!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Well Jaye, depends on how you classify the weather.....we have three rain storms coming through this week......but at least most of them know how to drive in the Rain. :Night temps are mid and upper 30's, highs in the mid to upper 40's...that's sort of getting back to normal for us.....

BJ, I know ya said Don is Hot but we didn't know he was THAT Hot!!
Sounds like you need to send a bag with him whether he thinks he is stayin' over or not.

Marion, she is precious!!!
We dropped Sean and Laura off for their party, took care of some shopping we needed to do, then finally got to go to dinner......seems the kids have similar look......

Trisha, I will be bugging you asking for tips on staying smoke-free

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

In my case Deborah I had reached the point that it was effecting everything I did....I couldn't walk around the block without being out of breath, couldn't do anything for having to stop for a smoke constantly, was having trouble breathing in general and kept a cough most of the time....had just gotten to the point that I realized if I didn't quit it was going to kill me, sooner than later. I went on a 3 step prescription patch and chewed an awful lot of pencils and chopsticks....did a lot of crotchet and needle work to keep my hands busy......lots and lots of tic tacs (not a lot of calories in those).....had a lot of support as DH had quit many years earlier and none of our friends smoked......the first week was really hard but after that I just kept telling myself I didn't want to go back there...and they really started to smell bad....really bad. D iscovered I liked to be able to smell and taste things again...hang in there, it is worth it!

Laura just called....I have to go and retrieve them.....talk to you later!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

I'm a prisoner to them. I want to be free of them.

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Now this is the last time I stopped... One night I was hacking up a lung and I just had it... So I took all the smokes I had in the house and tore them up and never looked back...It is hard I have to admit and my will power is not as strong as before but we can do this ....
Susan

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Tante Jaye-the angel frogs are from Auntie M & me-I had typed up a little gift note-sorry it wasn't in the box....

Auntie M-still waiting for pictures......

Deb-you can do it!!! And one day when I am quitting, you can tell me the same thing-quit for over a week once, both DH & I did, but we wanted to kill each other and broke down....that week I chewed 4 packs of gum and everytime I wanted a smoke, I drank a glass of water!! I was floating away!! Everything tasted too salty, so I didn't really eat that week either...

Morning All,

I want to go on a cruise. I'd like to cruise the Hawaiian Islands. heck I just want to go to Hawaii. My mom has been there 3 times. And next New Years is good.

Quitting Smoking: The first thing that you have to make sure is You Have to Really Want to Quit. It's something that you have to tell yourself you want to do. Rick's doctor gave him a scrip for Wellbutrin he hasn't had a smoke in about 2 1/2 to 3 months now. It was like an instant quit. He started taking the pills and cigs disappeared. I know of one other person that it worked for also. She started taking Wellbutrin and by thr 3rd day she was cig free.

Marion, love your hat. And that little darling of yours is so cute.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Donna,
We drink pepsi. I buy it buy the case so tell me what to look for and I will send it to you. My mom saves the tabs and sends them to somebody for the Ronald McDonld's House, so that the parents of sick children can stay there. So if anyone wants to save tabs and send them to me that would be cool. ^_^

Bedford, VA(Zone 7a)

I save the tabs too! Once every few months I drive down to Durham to the RMCD house there (for the Duke hospital patients) and drop them off with some house supplies. They always need paper and cleaning products..

So much I want to comment on, that I can't remember any of it.

Love you Sistahs!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone How are you all doing today???

Marion, I love your picture, and When I say your decorations, you made me cry. With the blue, and the angels. It looked like my Mothers living room wall. She loved cobalt blue dishes, and blue angels! Don't worry, it is a good memory, and a good cry! it is just amazing how many of us have so much in common! True Sisters for sure!

Ok, I have the coffee on, and some cinnamon sweet rolls, so please help yourself. I will busy this week, with PT starting today, and then company coming in Wed, for the New Years. My DIL, Granddaughter, and a friend will be here till Sunday sometime. So if I don't see you, try to be good, and stay out of trouble!!!

Happy New Year!!!

Moring all.. I slept in a bit this am since Max went to work and the kids are at Christinas house until after Max gets off work..

For today I think I will finish putting the primer in Tonys room sice Max hates the smell so much.. Then to see if I can get into the attic without falling off the ladder so I can put the Christmas decorations away.. I may work out in th efront flower beds a bit too just have to see how fast I can get a few things done first...lol

Okay I may need a hand too.. I am going to quit smoking here very soon. I have been wanting too but just havent taken my leap of faith to set them down yet. I quit a last year for about 6 months and started back up again while sitting at the hospital with Tony this spring. Everything was spiraling out of control and I gave in and havent looked back.. I did well yesterday and have been cutting back alittle at a time.. If I can keep busy I dont want one ut I have to keep my mind occupied.. If im out back working in the gardens I can go 2-3 hours without but as soon as I sit down for a break I want one! I need cinnamon toothpicks as Im not much of a gum person with my bad teeth. Bear with me as I may be a bit grumpy as we all go through this...

Cindy the pepsi codes are inside the box printed but the promotion is almost over so Im not sure if they are still printing them or not.. We buy 2 lliters and they are under the yellow caps as well as on the smaller bottles.. Hawaii sounds nice but f we are picking where we always wanted to go.. hmmm I wanna go to Costa Rico!

smalltown, IL

Just a quick note to say Good Morning ladies..

abbisgranma;
I haven't thought about linens--When I get a bed I will most likely get a full/queen size..

Also..I just returned from checking my PO box ladies and one of you nice ladies sent me a box of ornaments...But when I opened the box all but 4 of them were broken:(...I really want to thank who ever it was for the thoughtful gift..

Have a nice day..Lisa

Cindy, I wonder if Wellbutrin is right for me? Its an antidepressant. I'm already taking Zoloft and Effexior XL. I called my family doc to see if I could take it to help me quit smoking. I'll see what he says.

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Deborah I imagine that t would be but he doctor will let you know for sure.. I am going to be searching for a general doctor as well. We never had insurance up until now so I never had a doctor in fact I havent been to a regular doctor in years. Heck I havent even been to the female doctor since Tristen was born.. I guess I better get onto locating one as soon as possible.. Our insurance website says they have a stop smoking program and they reward you for quiting so I will need to look into that as well..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Well Jaye, I will have you know that I just signed up for the black and white quilt swap. Black and white are not my colors, but I think it will turn out pretty!

LK

Good Luck to all of you who are quitting smoking. I quit in 1991 and have never been sorry!
It really helps to have others going through what you are at the same time, so those who want to quit, band together now and you can support one another.
Help those around you to know that you will not be the most pleasant person to deal with for a while but that things will get better.
You might even want to get a jar and put in it the money you would have spent on cigarettes each day; then you will have something to look forward to when you are all done.
When that hard part of the day comes (mine was after dinner, boy that cig tasted good!) make sure you have something else to do at that time to take your mind off what you think you are missing.
Just a few ideas to keep you going and FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Morning Ladies...

Well, Don made it to Houston after the game last night... about 1am. Stopped at Walmart and got himself a change of clothes, hygene items... charged them to the company charge card. He's in a surprisingly good mood this morning. Usually when he has a bad broadcast he's a bit pissy for a couple days. But he said everyone pitched in last night and worked as a team to get back on the air. I was wrong, they were down almost an hour, but would have been only 30 min if they could have found some bolt cutters... had to use a cutting torch to get the bolt off instead. He said even the client and building maintenance was out there with him helping. Quite an unusual night for him... never had a fire on a truck before... and never had to go off air while broadcasting before.

BBL.... More coffee.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Lisa, the ornaments were from me. I should have packed them better,My Bad. I was going to toss them anyways, so I hope you are not disappointed that they got broke. After I had sent them you had put up a tree, so you really didn't need them, your tree was pretty without them.
Cindy

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Hey, BJ, Debra, Cindy, Maid M, and Deborah...you were all in on the flat quarter swap and wondered if any of you want in on our black and white quilt block swap. Isn't due until end of Feb. so you have lots of time. You pick the third or so color to go along with the black and white theme. We are filling up fast, so hop on over to the Sewing & Quilting area and join the fun!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning Sistahs and excellent Nieces ^_^

Trisha, you must have sent one of the rain storms this way. I rather the rain, not snow. Like you say, we know how to drive in the rain!

Hi Terri, hope you had a good Christmas.

Love you too Joyce!!

Cindy, we're making use of the candle, and you know what that means... love it, love it, love it!!

Lisa, I'm glad you continue to post here. Please keep doing so.. we will worry when you don't show up. Especially with what you're going through.

Sistahs, Sis Kathy hasn't mentioned it, but I will. Please pray for her surgeon's appt. Wednesday. Pray our Lord makes use of the surgeon to heal her.

Maid M., you finally adorned your hat! What a creative mind you have. I bet that's the world's only elf's hat with ladybugs crawling all over!! You my dear, have such a beautiful smile... and your mischief shows thru' your eyes!!!
Thank you for my frog angel sticks!!! I am quite spoilt getting all these attention from my sistahs!

BJ, I'm glad none's hurt in the fire. Don must be one that doesn't panic easily in an unexpected adverse situation.. Yah, next time, pack him an overnight bag, just in case. Unless he doesn't mind shopping.

Donna, I want your energy!!! Since kids are away, why don't you and Max just do nothing and enjoy the silence!!!! Lol!!!

Hmm.. how did I quit? Twice actually. First wasn't easy. Had friends around me that were chain smoking, so it was uphill.
Second time, I wanted to. Had the desire and stuck to it. No pills, no patches.. just cold turkey. But gained weight :( My hair and clothes smell better, my finger tips quit being yellow, my breath don't smell like an ashtray.. (don't fool yourselves, after the gum's gone, the odor returns) Best part, my taste buds are more sensitive.. food tastes better. And minimum smoker's cough.. you know, the hacking kind..

Janice said it well... we need to BAND TOGETHER TO FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT!

LK, you could ask for another color accent, it's not all black and white. I want a light sprinkling of red to make it 'pop'. It will be a nice b&w sampler's quilt.. with us just doing one pattern.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

good morning

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ooh Stacey.. I put all my quilting 'safety pins' in your precious box!

Janice, Maid M did sign up.. she's also Marion!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning Sis... I hope you forgive me for mentioning about your appointment. You are VERY important to us.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

sis, there is nothing to forgive. I LOVE YOU!

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Sorry, had a CRS moment.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Wish I can take some of that hurt you're going through, Sis.
If you want to, you can elaborate on what type of visit it will be.. your choice.
Love you too too much Sis.. but never enough!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Marion, did you receive a box from me yet?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Well, Maid M might sign up again.. LOL!!!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

going to the surgeon on wed. we will discuss a biopsy and options. won't know anything until then
right know i am trying to balance my check book, which hasn't been done in 2 weeks, pay blls and get the house clean just in case he puts me in the hospital this week

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Kathy, have you had this before or is this a first?

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

first time cindy. i had cervical cancer when i was 28. am hoping for the best. i just might be benign

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

When I went for the consultation, my doc told me then that he was 90 -95% sure it wasn't cancer. The biospy was an in and out thing took about 1/2 hour. Do you know some of the signs. Stand in front of a mirror, with arms down at your side. Look for difference in your breast, like is one bigger than the other. Also feel under your armpits for any swelling. These are some of the things my doc told me. Waiting for appt. is the worse. Me I want to know NOW!!, that's how I am. Two weeks was a long time to see my doc but after I talked to him I was able to calm down a bit. I hope this helps.

Morgantown, WV(Zone 6a)

I am so drained. This was our first Christmas since my dear sweet Mombo passed. Out of my 36 years all but two of my Christmas Eves has been at her house. We spent this Christmas at her house and my granddaddy is still here.......but man it sure is hard. She was the 'one' for all of us, my mom, aunts, cousins...........the one everyone called to ask stuff: how do you do this, what do you think, am I being mean, is it gonna rain. :) She wasnt very smart school wise but the WISDOM she possessed was unmeasurable. I am so thankful and blessed I realized her value and worth long before she passed and had a solid sweet relationship with her as did my husband and my children. We loved her so much!!

Did I miss the 'loot' thread? What did yall get....I love telling what everyones 'loot' ended up being.

My mom/dad gave me a tassimo coffee maker that is awesome, I won a bird feeder at dirty santa, my neighbor had a drawing made of all my kiddos and some warm blankets for the couch. My friend/neighbor gave me some new ornaments for a different kitchen Christmas next tree.

So what yall do?

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Good morning, sistahs! Best of luck to those who will stop smoking. It's the best thing you can ever do for yourself and your family. You do not want to experience what my DMIL had to go through before she died - all because she had been a smoker. Give yourself and your family the gift of health! You have LOTS of support here.

One nephew and his three kids left this morning - we still have neice/spouse and their two kids until tomorrow. DBIL and DSIL will be here until Jan. 3rd. I enjoy having them all but will be ready for some peace and quiet. Here's a bit of the action at our house Saturday morning - the five grandkids with DSIL.

Wow, Debra you are blessed to have family like that on the holidays. When I was small we all gathered at my aunts house, bought presents for each other, huge dinners. I really miss those days. I would love to try and get my whole family together for a Christmas dinner in the future.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

There's no particular loot thread, Heather. As I recalled, BJ was given a commercial sewing machine.. many hadn't posted what Santa brought.
Heather, did your kids get what they want?
Me, an out of town shopping spree. Wished I hadn't done that.. coming home to read of Lisa's dilemna.
The only wise elder I could call now would be one of my sistahs for any sage advice. No living immediate relatives older than me :( MIL has her own agenda.

Wow Debra.. I'm sure you're ready for that quiet time!! But once a year is tolerable for large family gatherings, especially when there's no drama :D

Audrey posted in the old room that she hasn't heard anything from her daughter Lisa. So she thinks no news is good news. Praying so.

Think I'll reintroduce myself to the sewing machine. Got to come up with a pattern for the exchange.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Our huge family get togethers fell apart when my grandmother passed on. Seems like since then, we've all had smaller gatherings in separate places. Now, they even seem to be getting smaller. I think that's one reason I have such a hard time getting into the holiday mood these days... it's just not like it used to be.

Well, sistahs... it's Monday... guess the post office is open today... so, I'm off to retrace my steps from yesterday. I'm also going to Walmart to try to find a B&D Scumbuster so I can turn it in to a sanding tool for my polymer clay... this sanding everything 12 times is really getting to me, and causing my hands to cramp. Hopefully this will help.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hey BJ, have you thought about a battery powered manicure set for the hard to reach places? I have one and it comes in handy sometimes. Works well on sanding small wood things etc.....
